Madania: Jurnal Kajian Keislaman is a peer-reviewed international journal focusing on Islamic studies. The journal provides a platform for disseminating the latest research and scholarly discussions on Islam and Muslim culture in a broad sense, encompassing theoretical and empirical investigations of themes relevant to Muslim societies globally and beyond. Madania accepts two types of articles: Research Articles: Scholarly reports presenting the results of quantitative or qualitative studies that contribute to the advancement of knowledge in Islamic studies across the six themes. Conceptual Articles: Papers offering theoretical perspectives, models, or philosophical analyses relevant to Islamic studies, engaging with contemporary theories and frameworks. All submissions to Madania undergo a rigorous double-blind peer-review process to ensure high standards of quality and academic integrity. The journal is committed to publishing original, innovative, and impactful research that addresses contemporary challenges in the Islamic world.

Abstract

Strategi Guru Bahasa Inggris dalam Mengajar Materi Speaking terhadap Siswa yang Berkarakteristik Introvert di Madrasah Aliyah (MA) Ja-alHaq Bengkulu. Kemampuan sesorang dalam berkomunikasi sering dipengaruhi oleh karakteristik kepribadiannya. Berdasarkan penelitian para ahli, terdapat dua karakter utama dalam diri seseorang, yaitu ekstrovert dan introvert. Siswa yang berkarakter introvert memiliki kemampuan yang tidak sama dengan siswa ektrovert dalam berkomunikasi bahasa asing. Untuk mengatasi problem tersebut, guru Madrasah Aliyah (MA) Ja-alHaq—sebagai objek penelitian ini—beberapa strategi agar kemampuan speaking siswa-siswinya meningkat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan deskripsi dari guru bahasa Inggris di Indonesia yang berpengalaman dalam pengajaran speaking terkait dengan tantangan dan strategi dalam proses belajar mengajar bagi siswa yang berkarakteristik introvert. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa para guru disarankan untuk menerapkan diskusi, main peran, story telling, dan wawancara. Di samping itu, guru juga harus mengetahui karakter dari peserta didiknya karena dengan mengetahui kepribadian peserta didik, para guru dapat memilih strategi pembelajaran yang tepat untuk diterapkan di kelas.

Abstract

Indonesia is well-known as a Muslim majority. However, this does not make Indonesia as an Islamic country. The relationship between religion and state in Islam is fairly interpretive and it nowadays still becomes a debate. The government system applied in this country is democratic. Besides, there has to freedom for the ulama in preaching without being limited by space and time. A number of ulama are currently being persecuted and intimidated that impacts to the lecture to be either stopped, postponed, or even canceled. At this part, the role of the umara (government) is required in enforcing the applicable law and also maintaining security and order in society. This paper aims to highlight the relationship between religion and state in Indonesian by observing the position of the ulama and the role of the umara in terms of Indonesian government. This paper used a qualitative approach to literature research. The data in this study were obtained from library materials. Data analysis methods used in this study were data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results of the analysis showed that in Indonesia there is a separation between religion and state as the secularistic paradigm. However, it is not completely secularistic because in national legal system there is also a transformation of Islamic law. Religious and state affairs are not able to be separated, so are ulama and umara. It is because the state will experience a crisis in religious knowledge without ulama. Otherwise, without umara, religion cannot be implemented correctly within the country. Indonesia merupakan negara yang berpenduduk mayoritas Islam. Namun bukan berarti Indonesia adalah negara Islam. Hubungan agama dan negara dalam Islam cukup banyak penafsiran. Dalam Islam, hal ini masih menjadi perdebatan sampai saat ini. Sistem pemerintahan yang diterapkan di Indonesia saat ini adalah sistem demokrasi. Terlepas dari sistem tersebut, tentu harus memberikan kebebasan para ulama dalam berdakwah tanpa dibatasi oleh ruang dan waktu. Saat ini, ada ulama yang dipersekusi dan diintimidasi sehingga ceramah yang hendak dilaksanakan terpaksa dihentikan, ditunda, bahkan dibatalkan. Disinilah diperlukan peran umara (pemerintah) dalam menegakkan hukum yang berlaku dan juga menjaga keamanan serta ketertiban di masyarakat. Tulisan ini bertujuan menyoroti relasi agama dan negara dalam konteks Indonesia dengan melihat kedudukan ulama dan peran umara dalam pemerintahan Indonesia. Tulisan ini menggunakan metode pendekatan kualitatif yang bersifat penelitian pustaka. Data-data dalam penelitian ini diperoleh dari bahan-bahan yang bersifat pustaka Metode analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil analisis menunjukkan di Indonesia terjadi pemisahan antara agama dan negara sebagaimana paradigma sekuleristik. Tetapi disini tidak sepenuhnya sekularistik karena pada hukum nasional Indonesia juga terjadi transformasi hukum Islam. Urusan agama dan negara tidak dapat dipisahkan. Begitu juga dengan ulama dan umara tidak dapat dipisahkan karena tanpa ulama maka negara akan mengalami krisis ilmu agama dan tanpa umara maka agama tidak bisa diterapkan secara sempurna dalam suatu negara.

Abstract

Law enforcement of child support obligations of fathers as Civil Servants (PNS) after divorce often encounters obstacles, such as non-compliance in implementing Religious Court rulings. This study focuses on the Bengkulu High Religious Court (Pengadilan Tinggi Agama, PTA), which has implemented an execution system to ensure the financial rights of women and children after divorce.The primary objective of this research is to analyze the factors contributing to non-compliance among fathers with civil servant status, assess the implementation process of court decisions, evaluate the execution model employed by the PTA of Bengkulu, and explore avenues for its improvement. The study is grounded in the theories of the supremacy of law, law enforcement, and legal execution, employing a normative-empirical approach with descriptive methods. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and document analysis. The findings reveal that several factors, including economic constraints and limited legal awareness, contribute to the non-compliance of civil servant fathers in fulfilling child support obligations. The execution process is largely similar to the procedures for enforcing monetary payments. The PTA of Bengkulu has innovatively introduced the E-Mosi Caper application to monitor compliance and track the implementation of child support orders. To enhance the effectiveness of this execution model, the study proposes regulatory harmonization, the establishment of a dedicated implementation team, and heightened public awareness campaigns. These measures aim to support the development of a more robust and efficient system for ensuring compliance with child support obligations, ultimately advancing the protection of women’s and children’s financial rights after divorce. Penegakan hukum terhadap kewajiban nafkah anak oleh ayah berstatus Pegawai Negeri Sipil (PNS) pasca perceraian sering kali menghadapi kendala, seperti ketidakpatuhan dalam melaksanakan putusan Pengadilan Agama. Penelitian ini berfokus pada Pengadilan Tinggi Agama (PTA) Bengkulu, yang telah menerapkan sistem eksekusi untuk menjamin hak-hak finansial perempuan dan anak setelah perceraian. Tujuan utama dari penelitian ini adalah menganalisis faktor-faktor yang menyebabkan ketidakpatuhan ayah berstatus PNS, menilai proses pelaksanaan putusan pengadilan, mengevaluasi model eksekusi yang diterapkan oleh PTA Bengkulu, serta mengeksplorasi cara-cara untuk meningkatkan efektivitas sistem tersebut. Penelitian ini didasarkan pada teori supremasi hukum, penegakan hukum, dan eksekusi hukum, dengan pendekatan normatif-empiris menggunakan metode deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data meliputi observasi, wawancara, dan analisis dokumen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa beberapa faktor, seperti keterbatasan ekonomi dan rendahnya kesadaran hukum, berkontribusi pada ketidakpatuhan ayah PNS dalam memenuhi kewajiban nafkah anak. Proses eksekusi menyerupai pelaksanaan pembayaran uang. PTA Bengkulu memanfaatkan aplikasi E-Mosi Caper untuk memantau kepatuhan dan melacak pelaksanaan perintah nafkah anak. Untuk meningkatkan efektivitas model eksekusi ini, penelitian ini mengusulkan harmonisasi regulasi, pembentukan tim pelaksana khusus, dan kampanye peningkatan kesadaran publik. Langkah-langkah ini bertujuan untuk mendukung pengembangan sistem yang lebih kuat dan efisien dalam menjamin kepatuhan terhadap kewajiban nafkah anak, sehingga pada akhirnya memperkuat perlindungan hak-hak finansial perempuan dan anak setelah perceraian.

Abstract

Ushûl Fiqh in Progressive Islamic Law. The present article is aimed at describing though of ushûl fiqhwhich becomes a basis of progressive Islamic law. Basically, the progressive Islamic law has a basic concept ofushûl fiqh setting out ijtihad based contextual concept that comes from the essential of Islamic basic values(maqâsid as-syarî’ah). Its essential values such as justice, equity, and equality are transformed to respond thecontemporary humanity issues including democracy, human rights, gender equality, the rights of minorities, therelationship between religion and state, culture, science, and technology. Hence, the concept of progressiveushûl fiqh will develop and offer more humane Islamic law (anthropocentric transformative) than before byupholding the prophetical values. The framework can create some various field in Islamic such as cultural Islamic,interfaith Islamic law, political Islamic law, govermental Islamic law, environmental Islamic law, and multiculturalIslamic law.

Abstract

In Indonesia, there are several sources of law, including religious law, customary law, international law, state law, and Islamic sharia law. This study aims to obtain scientific evidence about the relevance of Islamic law and state law in managing security and comfort among citizens in Indonesia. We searched for data to answer this problem online in several literature sources, which we discussed comprehensively to answer this research problem by looking for the relationship between Islamic law, state law, and the stability and diversity of citizens. Data collection was carried out online in several literature sources comprehensively to answer research problems, namely looking for the relationship between Islamic law, state law, and the stability and diversity of citizens. This data is sourced from secondary materials, which can be obtained in qualitative measures. The results show that there are eight Islamic laws and state laws to regulate the life of the state and society in a just and prosperous life. Di Indonesia, terdapat beberapa sumber hukum, antara lain hukum agama, hukum adat, hukum internasional, hukum negara, dan hukum syariah Islam. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh bukti ilmiah tentang relevansi hukum Islam dan hukum negara dalam mengelola keamanan dan kenyamanan antar warga negara di Indonesia. Pengambilan data dilakukan secara online di beberapa sumber literatur secara komprehensif untuk menjawab masalah penelitian, yaitu mencari hubungan antara hukum Islam, hukum negara, stabilitas dan keragaman warga negara. Analisis data meliputi interpretasi data, evaluasi, pengkodean data, dan penarikan kesimpulan dengan berpegang pada prinsip validitas dan reliabilitas data. Data ini bersumber dari bahan sekunder, yang dapat diperoleh dalam ukuran kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada delapan hukum Islam dan hukum negara untuk mengatur kehidupan bernegara dan bermasyarakat dalam kehidupan yang adil dan makmur

Abstract

The Concept of al-Ashîl and al-Dakhîl in the Quranic Exegesis. This study examined the concept of al-ashîl and al-dakhîl in the Quranic exegesis. These two issues were important to discuss because in the books of exegesis there were many data and information that were irrelevant to the content of verses and sublime messages of the Quran. Even authoritative exegesis books were also not sterile from the infiltration of interpretation, either in the form of historical data, ra’y (the result of ijtihad) or inner cues. Based on this, this study aimed to explain the concept of ashâlat al-mashdar (source authenticity) so that al-dakhîl fî al-tafsîr (infiltration of interpretation) could be known, criticized and evaluated. Criticism of the infiltration of quranic interpretation was necessary so that the exegesis books—as a work in direct contact with the main source of Islam—were completely cleansed from the reality of al-dakhîl.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to find out whether or not there was a significant difference between students who were taught using picture and picture strategy and that of those who were not in writing recount text. The study employed a quasi-experimental study. The population in this study were the second grade students of Madrasah Tsanawiyah in Bengkulu city, Indonesia with a total number are 89 students. Out of this population, 60 students were taken as the sample. They are divided into two groups; experiement and control group, which consisted of 30 students for each group. The data were collected by using writing test. The data obtained were analyzed by using t- test formula. The data were found that the result of t-count post-test (6.34) was higher than t- table (2.00) with α = 5 % and df= 58. The finding of this research shows that there is a significant difference between students in Madrasah Tsanawiyah who are taught using picture and picture strategy and that of those who are not. Based on the result on the study, picture and picture strategy can improve students’ writing achievement in writing recount text evidently. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara siswa yang diajar menggunakan strategi gambar dan gambar dan siswa yang tidak dalam menulis teks pengalaman. Penelitian ini menggunakan studi quasi-eksperimental. Populasi dari penelitian ini adalah para siswa kelas dua Madrasah Tsanawiyah di kota Bengkulu, Indonesia dengan jumlah total 89 siswa. Dari populasi ini, 60 siswa diambil sebagai sampel. Mereka dibagi menjadi dua kelompok: grup eksperimen dan kontrol , yang terdiri dari 30 siswa untuk setiap kelompok. Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan tes menulis. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan menggunakan rumus t-test. Data yang telah dihasilkan yaitu hasil dari t-hitung dari tes akhir (6,34) lebih tinggi dibandingkan t-tabel (2,00) dengan α = 5 % dan df= 58. Temuan dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara siswa di Madrasah Tsanawiyah yang diajar menggunakan strategi picture and picture dengan mereka yang tidak. Berdasarkan hasil pada penelitian, strategi picture and picture secara jelas dapat meningkatkan hasil pencapaian para siswa dalam menulis teks pengalaman.

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether unemployment and poverty affect the economic growth in realization Gorontalo Regency  as madinatul ‘Ilmi. This research method is to use a quantitative approach method. The data collection techniques used are obtained from the website of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of the Gorontalo Regency government. This study uses multiple linear regression method to measure the effect of unemployment as an independent variable (X1), poverty (X2), and dependent variable of economic growth (Y). The results in this study show that unemployment (X1) and poverty (X2) test value (F) simultaneously have a significant influence on economic growth at a significance level of 5% with a probability of 0.048046. Meanwhile, partial unemployment affects negative and insignificant economic growth with a coefficient of -0.481626. The poverty variable has a positive and significant effect on the economic growth of Gorontalo Regency in 2012-2021 with a coefficient value of 1.300224. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah pengangguran dan kemiskinan berpengaruh terhadap pertumbuhan ekonomi dalam mewujudkan Kabupaten Gorontalo sebagai madinatul ‘Ilmi. Metode penelitian ini adalah menggunakan metode pendekatan secara kuantitatif. Tekhnik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah yang di peroleh dari website Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) pemerintah Kabupaten Gorontalo. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode regresi liniear berganda untuk mengukur pengaruh pengangguran sebagai variabel independen (X1), kemiskinan (X2), dan variabel dependen pertumbuhan ekonomi (Y). Hasil dalam penelitian ini adalah menunjukkan bahwa pengangguran (X1) dan Kemiskinan (X2) nilai uji (F) secara simultan mempunyai pengaruh signifikan terhadap Pertumbuhan Ekonomi pada taraf signifikansi 5% dengan probabilitas 0.048046. Sedangkan secara parsial pengangguran perengaruh negatif dan tidak signifikan terhadap pertumbuhan ekonomi dengan koefisien -0.481626. Variabel kemiskinan berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap pertumbuhan ekonomi Kabupaten Gorontalo tahun 2012-2021 dengan nilai koefisien sebesar 1.300224.

Abstract

The Relevance of Ibn Taymiyyah Economics in Addressing Poverty and Income Distributio n. This paperexamines the view of Ibn Taymiyyah of state or government in Islamic law and the state role in the distribution of wealth and removing the class differences and income injustice within an economic order, and analyze the various problems in most of modern government to tackle poverty and income distribution? And how to remove class differences and income injustice within an economic order? According to Ibn Taymiyyah, the government is responsible for regulating the distribution of income of the rich people to the poor people equitably, and balancing the level of life of the people. Ibn Taymiyyah above statement can be realized on the government’s authority to levy taxes on the rich and tax revenue is distributed to the development of infrastructure and other expenses that will improve human development and create employment. The idea is relevant to reduce unemployment and poverty in today Muslim countries

Abstract

This study aims to analyze strategies for strengthening independent character and responsibility in Islamic-based secondary schools, focusing on the implementation of humanistic concepts in learning. The research method used was qualitative, with data collection through observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis at SMP IT Cahaya Bangsa Mijen Semarang. The collected data was analyzed using the Miles and Huberman approach, involving the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The results showed that strengthening independent character and responsibility is implemented through humanistic concepts, especially in building motivation and awareness of the importance of setting priorities in academic activities. The humanistic concept is reflected in the integration of PAI subjects version of the Ministry of Religion and CS IT with humanist character, presentation of Islamic Education material that supports an attitude of responsibility, and an assessment system that encourages honesty based on active and fun learning. The aspect of self-education is more strongly implemented through extracurricular activities based on religious values, such as memorization of the Quran, archery, swimming, scouts, and taekwondo. These five extracurriculars are considered important to increase perseverance, self-confidence, leadership, self-discipline, and mental strength as elements of independence. The school also involves parents in guided discussion activities, including home visits, communication through WhatsApp groups, and specific meetings at school, to ensure the effective implementation of independent character and responsibility for students. This research contributes to providing in-depth insights into character strengthening practices in Islamic-based secondary schools, providing a foundation for the development of further strategies in improving the quality of character education. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis strategi penguatan karakter mandiri dan tanggung jawab di sekolah menengah berbasis Islam, dengan fokus pada implementasi konsep humanistik dalam pembelajaran. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif, dengan pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara mendalam, dan analisis dokumen di SMP IT Cahaya Bangsa Mijen Semarang. Data yang terkumpul dianalisis menggunakan pendekatan Miles dan Huberman, melibatkan tahap reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penguatan karakter mandiri dan tanggung jawab diimplementasikan melalui konsep humanistik, khususnya dalam membangun motivasi dan kesadaran akan pentingnya mengatur prioritas dalam kegiatan akademik. Konsep humanistik tercermin dalam integrasi mata pelajaran PAI versi Kemenag dan CS IT yang berkarakter humanis, penyajian materi Pendidikan Islam yang mendukung sikap tanggung jawab, serta sistem penilaian yang mendorong kejujuran berbasis pembelajaran aktif dan menyenangkan. Aspek pendidikan mandiri lebih kuat terimplementasikan melalui kegiatan ekstrakurikuler berbasis nilai-nilai keagamaan, seperti hafalan Al-Quran, panahan, renang, pramuka, dan taekwondo. Kelima ekstrakurikuler ini dianggap penting untuk meningkatkan ketekunan, rasa percaya diri, kepemimpinan, disiplin diri, dan kekuatan mental sebagai unsur kemandirian. Sekolah juga melibatkan orang tua dalam kegiatan diskusi terbimbing, termasuk kunjungan ke rumah, komunikasi melalui grup WhatsApp, dan pertemuan tertentu di sekolah, untuk memastikan efektivitas implementasi karakter mandiri dan tanggung jawab bagi siswa. Penelitian ini berkontribusi dalam memberikan wawasan mendalam tentang praktik-praktik penguatan karakter di sekolah menengah berbasis Islam, memberikan landasan bagi pengembangan strategi lebih lanjut dalam meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan karakter.
