Madania: Jurnal Kajian Keislaman is a peer-reviewed international journal focusing on Islamic studies. The journal provides a platform for disseminating the latest research and scholarly discussions on Islam and Muslim culture in a broad sense, encompassing theoretical and empirical investigations of themes relevant to Muslim societies globally and beyond. Madania publishes articles under six main topics: Islamic Law – Discussions on fiqh, legal theory, and contemporary issues in Islamic jurisprudence. Study of the Qur’an and Hadith – Investigations of textual analysis, interpretations, and the application of Islamic scriptures. Madania accepts two types of articles: Research Articles: Scholarly reports presenting the results of quantitative or qualitative studies that contribute to the advancement of knowledge in Islamic studies across the six themes. Conceptual Articles: Papers offering theoretical perspectives, models, or philosophical analyses relevant to Islamic studies, engaging with contemporary theories and frameworks. All submissions to Madania undergo a rigorous double-blind peer-review process to ensure high standards of quality and academic integrity. The journal is committed to publishing original, innovative, and impactful research that addresses contemporary challenges in the Islamic world.

Abstract

The risks and impacts of natural disasters and humanity have twisted people perceptions of sin and mistakes that are not entirely true. There are orientation, purpose, and the distinction between natural disasters and disasters in the concept of disasters in the Quran. The ideological doctrine of disasters such as ‘iqâb, fitnah, mushîbah, or ‘azâb in the Quran is made unilateral claim without considering the geographical and disaster aspect. The disasters are now evolving into implicative social phenomena rather than cause and effect. This research aims to provide a more balanced explanation in describing the concept of disaster in the Quran by using disaster and paradigm of social change theory. By employing the thematic interpretation method with a structural semantic approach, it is expected to give a new perspective on the concept of disaster. The results are: the first, conceptually natural disasters have restorative, regenerative and humanistic goals. The second, the disaster phenomena have the spirituality dimension to restore common sense and human ethics. The third, the disasters have various forms and characteristics as a consequence of human deeds more as grace than wrath. Therefore, the disaster orientation is not considered as hatred but as God's grace or affection for human. Resiko dan dampak bencana alam dan kemanusiaan telah membentuk persepsi masyarakat tentang dosa dan kesalahan yang tidak sepenuhnya benar. Terdapat pembeda antara bencana alam dan bencana serta orientasi dan tujuan dalam konsep kebencanaan di dalam Alquran. Masalah yang muncul kemudin adalah doktrin teologis bencana seperti iqab, fitnah, musibah, atau azab  dalam Alquran dijadikan klaim sepihak tanpa mempertimbangkan aspek geografis dan kebencanaan. Bahkan bencana kini berkembang menjadi fenomena sosial yang bersifat implikatif dari sekedar sebab akibat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan penjelasan yang lebih berimbang dalam menjelaskan konsep bencana dalam Alquran dengan menggunakan teori bencana dan paradigma perubahan sosial. Melaui metode tafsir tematik dengan pendekatan semantik struktural diharapkan dapat memberikan perspektif baru tentang konsep kebencanaan. Hasilnya, pertama, bencana alam secara konseptual memiliki tujuan restoratif, regeneratif dan humanitis. Kedua peristiwa bencana memiliki dimensi spiritualitas untuk mengembalikan akal sehat dan budi pekerti manusia. Ketiga, bencana memiliki beragam bentuk dan karakteristik sebagai konsekuensi perbuatan manusia lebih sebagai rahmat ketimbang murka. Dengan demikian, orientasi bencana bukan sebagai kebencian tetapi lebih sebagai rahmat atau kasih sayang Tuhan kepada manusia.

Abstract

Realist Interpretation and Symbolic Meaning of the Quran for the Society of Probolinggo Regency. All Moslem scholars believe that people have own ways to respond, interact, and function Quranic verses within their lives. Their effort is only to maintain the majesty of the Quran. Therefore, this study will examine how does the symbolization of Quranic verses has functions for, how do they elucidate and interpret, how do their interpretation and symbolization of Quranic verses take a position in Quranic discourse, especially in Probolinggo. The qualitative paradigm was chosen to clarify those questions. Meanwhile, the approach to data is Turner’s processional approach of symbolism and Levi Strauss’ structuralism. Through this discussion, the result of research concluded that the symbolization of Quranic verses has four functions, mainly (1) source of religious teaching; key element of ritual and ceremonial activities; ornament of calligraphy; and mystical medium, (2) symbolization of verses indicates Probolinggo people’s stance in using Quran; the meaning of symbolized verses is possible to trace from their consciousness and unconsciousness, and (3) interpretation and symbolization of Quranic verses take a position in the light of realist interpretation and meaningful interpretation as well as the living Quran, which have implied not only theoretical study of Quranic verses, but also practical function for society in the real life.

Abstract

Ittishâl  in Arabic language  means  message  connectivity  within a communication  process.  In Islam, a communication  process requires  the precision  of language  users in choosing  a language.  Language  choice in Islamic communication  aims at maintaining  a positive  relationship  among humans  (hablumminannâs),  and humans’ sincere love to God (hablumminallâh).  This qualitative  research which data source is from surah An- Nisâ’ discusses how the Quran translated  into Japanese language distinguishes  language choices for humans (as God Servants) and those intended to praise God. There are noun word choices for God which are initiated with the kanji marker go/o (御) and not found in those referring to humans. Furthermore, there are respectful verbs (songkeigo)  to praise the God’s actions,  yet not for humans’.  These language  choice’s  differences are intended to educate humans not to be arrogant or to always be humble because only God is the Sublime. The other objective is as the communication guidance in Islam, especially in performing prayers to always use polite languages to praise God that a sincere love will be created from the servants to the God. Ittishâl dalam bahasa Arab berarti konektivitas  pesan dalam proses komunikasi.  Dalam Islam, proses komunikasi membutuhkan ketepatan pengguna bahasa dalam memilih bahasa. Pilihan bahasa dalam komunikasi Islam bertujuan  mempertahankan  hubungan  yang baik antara manusia (hablumminannâs),  dan cinta manusia yang tulus kepada Allah (hablumminallâh).  Penelitian kualitatif yang sumber datanya berasal dari surah Al-Nisâ’, membahas bagaimana Alquran yang diterjemahkan  ke dalam bahasa Jepang membedakan pilihan bahasa bagi manusia  (sebagai  Hamba  Tuhan)  dan yang  dimaksudkan  untuk  memuji  Tuhan.  Tidak  ada pilihan  kata untuk Tuhan yang dimulai dengan penanda  kanji go / o (御) dan tidak ditemukan  pada mereka yang merujuk  pada manusia. Selain itu, ada kata kerja penuh hormat (songkeigo) untuk memuji tindakan Tuhan, namun tidak untuk manusia.  Perbedaan  pilihan  bahasa  ini dimaksudkan  untuk  mendidik  manusia  untuk  tidak menjadi  sombong atau untuk selalu rendah hati karena hanya Tuhan yang Mahakuasa.  Tujuan lainnya adalah sebagai pedoman komunikasi dalam Islam, terutama dalam melakukan doa untuk selalu menggunakan bahasa yang sopan untuk memuji Tuhan bahwa cinta yang tulus akan diciptakan dari para hamba kepada Tuhan.

Abstract

Muʻamalah, as a human activity related to devotion to Allah, must abide by the rules established by Islamic law for the benefit of society and the maintenance of rights and duties among people. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to provide a comprehensive and applicable explanation of the reinterpretation of Islamic transactional principles in 21st century economic activities. This article is a library study using qualitative methods. Methods for collecting document data from relevant journals and books. It is then analyzed using content analysis methods. The result of this research is the principles of Islamic transactions: (1) mashlahah as an indicator of transactions, (2) justice in transactions, and (3) prohibition of all transactions involving ribâ, gharâr, tadlîs, tahkîr, maysîr, and risywah. The similarity between the study and previous studies lies in the concept and principles of Islamic transactions, but the difference is that this study fully explains the principles of Islamic transactions, with examples of their application in economic activities. Muʻamalah, sebagai aktivitas manusia yang berhubungan dengan pengabdian kepada Allah, harus mematuhi aturan yang ditetapkan oleh hukum Islam untuk kemaslahatan masyarakat dan pemeliharaan hak dan kewajiban di antara orang-orang. Oleh karena itu, tujuan dari makalah ini adalah untuk memberikan penjelasan yang komprehensif dan aplikatif tentang reinterpretasi prinsip-prinsip transaksional Islam dalam kegiatan ekonomi abad ke-21. Artikel ini merupakan studi literatur dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif. Metode pengumpulan data bibliografi dari jurnal dan buku yang relevan. Kemudian gunakan metode analisis isi untuk menganalisis. Hasil penelitian ini adalah prinsip-prinsip perdagangan Islam: (1) maslahah sebagai indikator perdagangan, (2) keadilan perdagangan, dan (3) larangan semua transaksi yang melibatkan ribâ, gharâr, tadlîs, tahkîr, maysîr dan risywah. Kesamaan dengan penelitian sebelumnya terletak pada konsep dan prinsip transaksi Islam, namun perbedaannya adalah penelitian ini menjelaskan secara lengkap prinsip transaksi Islam dan mencontohkan penerapan transaksi Islam dalam kegiatan ekonomi.

Abstract

Pola Nafkah Masyarakat Daerah Tertinggal di Provinsi Bengkulu. Artikel ini memaparkan strategi pola nafkah Islami pada masyarakat daerah tertinggal yang ada di provinsi Bengkulu. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode survei dan menggunakan kuesioner sebagai alat pengumpulan data pokok. Penelitian ini menggunakan uji regresi linear berganda dan regresi linier sederhana dengan di mana regresi linear berganda dengan satu variabel dependen (Y1) dan variabel independen (X) adalah: Y = ß0+ ß1.X1 + ß 2.X2 + ß 3.X3 + ß 4.X4……(10). Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa faktor yang berpengaruh signifikan terhadap bentuk strategi pola nafkah yaitu pendidikan, sikap dan motivasi. Semakin meningkat sikap dan motivasi maka bentuk strategi pola nafkah juga semakin meningkat. Faktor yang tidak berpengaruh yaitu umur, tingkat pendidikan formal, pendidikan non formal, pendampingan, pemimpin lokal, sarana dan modal. Pendapatan berpengaruh negatif terhadap kegiatan strategi pola nafkah. Strategi pola nafkah yang baik akan berpegaruh dengan kemampuan masyarakat dalam hal kemampuan fisiologi, psikologi dan sosiologi

Abstract

This research aimed to analyze the legality of abortion by medical professionals for rape victims in Indonesia through the perspective of maqashid sharia. This study adopts a normative legal research approach, utilizing statutory interpretation (legal approach) and conceptual analysis (conceptual approach). The results of this study suggest that maqashid sharia emphasizes that abortions should not be performed arbitrarily and are only permissible in urgent situations that fulfill sharia objectives. This includes scenarios where the mother's life is at risk or serious medical conditions prevent the continuation of pregnancy. Such decisions should be made carefully, considering maslahah and mafsadat and involving consultations with medical experts and religious authorities. The maslahah principles elucidated by al-Tufi expand the flexibility in legal interpretation, allowing for Islamic law adaptation to contemporary needs and conditions. This is particularly relevant in abortion cases, where explicit guidance may not always be found in religious texts. Overall, the maqashid sharia approach to abortion underscores the importance of principles of justice, balance, and humanity in Islamic law. By considering all these aspects, Islamic law can provide relevant and adaptive guidance in addressing contemporary issues like abortion while remaining faithful to the primary objectives of sharia to achieve collective good and avoid harm. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis legalitas aborsi oleh tenaga medis bagi korban perkosaan di Indonesia melalui perspektif maqasid syariah. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian hukum normatif, dengan menggunakan pendekatan peraturan perundang-undangan (legal approach) dan pendekatan konseptual (conceptual approach). Temuan penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ada ketegangan antara norma hukum yang ketat dan prinsip-prinsip maslahat dalam maqasid syariah yang mengutamakan kesejahteraan dan perlindungan terhadap korban perkosaan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa maqasid syariah menekankan bahwa aborsi tidak boleh dilakukan sembarangan dan hanya diperbolehkan dalam situasi mendesak dan memenuhi tujuan syariah. Ini termasuk situasi di mana kelangsungan hidup ibu terancam atau kondisi medis yang serius tidak memungkinkan kehamilan berlanjut. Keputusan tersebut harus diambil dengan hati-hati, dengan mempertimbangkan maslahah (barang publik) dan mafsadat (bahaya), dan melibatkan konsultasi dengan para ahli medis dan otoritas agama. Prinsip-prinsip mashlahah yang dijelaskan oleh al-Tufi memperluas fleksibilitas dalam interpretasi hukum, memungkinkan adaptasi hukum Islam dengan kebutuhan dan kondisi kontemporer. Ini sangat relevan dalam kasus aborsi, di mana tidak selalu ada panduan eksplisit dalam teks-teks agama. Secara keseluruhan, pendekatan maqasid syariah terhadap aborsi menggarisbawahi pentingnya prinsip-prinsip keadilan, keseimbangan, dan kemanusiaan dalam hukum Islam. Dengan mempertimbangkan semua aspek ini, hukum Islam dapat memberikan panduan yang relevan dan adaptif dalam menangani isu-isu kontemporer seperti aborsi, sambil tetap setia pada tujuan utama syariah untuk mencapai kebaikan bersama dan menghindari bahaya.

Abstract

The diversity of values   in Pancasila is the basic capital for character education as the basis of the strength of the character of the Indonesian. The paper seeks to set up an Islamic character education based on the Pancasila-digging theological values   of Islam with the values   of local traditions, cultures and customs of the archipelago. This study is very important given the fact that so far the character, structure, and methods of character education are too oriented to the West by forgetting even ignoring the ideology and values   of the Nusantara character. The approach in this study is descriptive literature review. By transmitting Pancasila’s values   in family life to children, it will make the children make Pancasila’s views as a teaching doctrine, dogma or philosophy that must be practiced in the life of society. Pancasila’s revitalization and re-actualization as a philosophical and ideological foundation of the implementation of the character education system in Indonesia, including the implementation of national character education, cannot be negotiable. This is so that Pancasila can be actualized in everyday life within the family, school, community and in the life of nation and state as an educational process.

Abstract

The development of information technology today has made the social media platforms YouTube and Instagram very popular and has given birth to many YouTuber and Celebgram content creators. Content creators use this social media platform as a means to earn income with fantastic financial value of up to hundreds of millions, even billions of rupiah every month. This article aims to discuss zakat for YouTubers and Celebgrams. By using the library research method with a normative approach, this article provides answers to the issue of zakat for YouTubers and Celebgrams. This article concludes that: First, Yusuf al-Qardhawi views income YouTubers and Celebgram is included in al-mâl al-mustafâd, and must be given zakat. Second, there are differences of opinion as to whether zakat is paid to gold and silver zakat, or agricultural zakat. Yusuf al-Qardhawi in one condition qiyas the provisions of agricultural zakat. In other conditions, if the nisab is not met then zakat is paid to gold and silver. Meanwhile, based on MUI Fatwa No. 3 of 2003 concerning Income Zakat, reinforced by MUI Fatwa No. 04 of 2024 concerning Zakat for YouTubers, Celebrities, and Other Digital Creative Economy Actors, its implementation is subject to zakat on gold and silver. Al-Qardhawi's opinion and the provisions contained in the MUI Fatwa, provide an answer to the need to determine zakat law for the income of YouTubers and Instagram celebrities, as part of the dynamic development of information technology which has resulted in the development of contemporary law in the field of zakat. Perkembangan teknologi informasi saat ini menjadikan platform media sosial YouTube dan Instagram menjadi sangat diminati dan melahirkan banyak pelaku konten kreator YouTuber dan Selebgram. Pelaku konten kreator menjadikan platform media sosial ini sebagai sarana untuk meraup penghasilan dengan nilai finansial yang fantastis hingga mencapai ratusan juta, bahkan milyaran rupiah setiap bulannya. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mendiskusikan zakat bagi YouTuber dan Selebgram. Dengan menggunakan metode library research dengan pendekatan normatif, artikel ini memberikan jawaban terhadap persoalan zakat bagi YouTuber dan Selebgram. Artikel ini menyimpulkan bahwa: Pertama, Yusuf al-Qardhawi memandang pengasilan YouTuber dan Selebgram termasuk dalam al-mâl al-mustafâd, dan wajib untuk dizakatkan. Kedua, terdapat perbedaan pendapat apakah penunaian zakatnya diqiyaskan kepada zakat emas dan perak, atau zakat pertanian. Yusuf al-Qardhawi pada satu kondisi meng-qiyaskan pada ketentuan zakat pertanian. Pada kondisi lain, jika nisabnya tidak terpenuhi maka diqiyaskan kepada zakat emas dan perak. Sementara, berdasarkan Fatwa MUI No. 3 Tahun 2003 tentang Zakat Penghasilan, diperkuat dengan Fatwa MUI No. 04 Tahun 2024 tentang Zakat YouTuber, Selebgram, dan Pelaku Ekonomi Kreatif Digital Lainnya, pelaksanaanya diqiyaskan kepada zakat emas dan perak. Pendapat al-Qardhawi serta ketentuan yang termuat pada Fatwa MUI, memberikan jawaban terhadap kebutuhan penetapan hukum zakat bagi penghasilan YouTuber dan Selebgram, sebagai bahagian dari dinamika perkembangan teknologi informasi yang berakibat pada perkembangan hukum kontemporer dalam bidang zakat.

Abstract

This article aims to sense the intellectual and social dynamics of alums of Islamic boarding schools or the pesantren from Bangka Island and their role in State Islamic University, PTKIN in Indonesia. These issues are analyzed with Linton's role theory. This qualitative research takes primary data from eight informants, while secondary data is taken from other informants as an addition. The data was collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. The "Snow-ball Sampling" method obtained 57 informants and narrowed them down to eight. In addition, they were analyzed using three stages: orientation, exploration, and focus study. The results of this study explain that there are eight people from Bangka Island as alumni of the pesantren who have been currently taking part in PTKIN throughout Indonesia by occupying strategic positions and having significant influence in them, such as Prof. Dr. Zulkifli, M.A (Deputy Chancellor 1 of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta), Dr. Zayadi, M.Ag (Chancellor of IAIN SAS Babel), Prof. Dr. Hatamar Rasyid (Deputy Chancellor 2 of IAIN SAS Babel), Dr. Misdar, M.Ag (Dean of the Faculty of Sharia IAIN SAS BABEL), Prof. Rohimin, M.Ag (Director of Postgraduate Program at UIN Fatmawati Sukarno Bengkulu), Dr. Muhamad Fauzi, M.Ag, (Deputy Dean 1 of Tarbiyah Faculty at UIN RAFA Palembang), Dr. Abdurrahmansyah, M.Ag (Head of Islamic Studies Program at UIN RAFA Palembang), Dr. Ahmad Izzan (Senate Secretary of the Ethics Commission of UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung). These academics became real examples of intellectual and social dynamics of pesantren graduates from Bangka Island who succeeded in participating in their respective PTKINs. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi dinamika sosial intelektual alumni pondok pesantren asal pulau Bangka dan peran mereka di PTKIN. Permasalahan tersebut dianalisis dengan teori peran ala Linton. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian kualilatif yang mengambil sumber data primer dari delapan informan, sedangkan data sekunder diambil dari informan lain sebagai tambahan. Cara menentukan informan mlalui, “Snow-ball Sampling” didapatkan 57 informan dan mengerucut menjadi delapan. Penggalian data dilakukan dengan observasi, wawancara semi-terstruktur, dan dokumentasi. Data yang didapatkan dianalisis dengan menggunakan tiga tahapan, yaitu orientasi, eksplorasi, dan studi terfokus. Hasil penelitian ini menjelaskan bahwa terdapat delapan orang asal Pulau Bangka sebagai alumni pondok pesantren yang saat ini berkiprah di PTKIN se-Indonesia dengan menduduki posisi strategis dan memiliki pengaruh penting di dalamnya seperti Prof. Dr.Zulkifli, M.A (Wakil Rektor 1 UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta), Dr. Zayadi, M.Ag (Rektor IAIN SAS Babel), Prof.Dr.Hatamar Rasyid (Wakil Rektor 2 IAIN SAS Babel), Dr.Misdar, M.Ag (Dekan Fak.Syariah IAIN SAS BABEL), Prof. Dr. Rohimin, M.Ag (Dir.Pascasrjana UIN Fatmawati Sukarno Bengkulu), Dr. Muhamad Fauzi, M.Ag, (Wakil Dekan 1 Tarbiyah UIN RAFA Palembang), Dr. Abdurrahmansyah, M.Ag (Kaprodi Studi Islam Pascasarjana UIN RAFA Palembang), Dr. Ahmad Izzan (Sekretaris Senat Komisi Etik UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung). Para akademisi tersebut menjadi contoh nyata dalam perhelatan dinamika sosial intelektual lulusan pesantren asal Pulau Bangka yang berhasil berkiprah di PTKIN-nya masing-masing.
