Abstract

The departing point of this article is the objection towards tafsīr ishārī. This objection can be categorized as an ontological foundation, that tafsīr ishārī stands on the personal kashf, for which reason it cannot stand as reason and an epistemological foundation. Through a comprehensive-analytical study, this study elaborates on the theory correspondence of Qurʾānī, afāqī, and anfusī proposed by Haydar Amuli, a theory that stands as the ontological foundation of tafsīr ishārī. The deduction of the correspondence between Qurʾānī, afāqī, and anfusī or the deduction of the reference of the verse runs through kashf. Kashf is the epistemological basis proposed by Haydar Amuli. The correspondence theory is the basic assumption of the sufī interpretation. This theory is capable of briding the disjuncture of the relationship between the verses and their references in the Sufi interpretation.

Abstract

Islamic legal and intellectual tradition recognizes two categories of inter-religious marriages: non-Muslim men marrying Muslim women and Muslim men marrying non-Muslim women. There is a widespread agreement for the prohibition of the first category, but there are differences of views regarding the second. This article examines the interpretation of AGH. Daud Ismail on QS. al-Baqarah [2]:221 and QS. al-Māʾidah [5]:5, two verses that are the basis of differing views on inter-religious marriage the second category. Using the analysis of Hans-Georg Gadamer's Hermeneutics, this study first introduces biographical sketches, intellectual journeys, and the works of AGH. Daud Ismail. The second step is to parse, translate and explain the interpretation of AGH. Daud Ismail. This study reveals that AGH. Daud Ismail recognizes the validity of inter-religious marriage the second category, with a specification of free women from among Ahl al-Kitāb, namely Jews and Christians. The background for his recognition is that he is influenced by the tafsir tradition that he widely referenced.

Abstract

This article elaborates on the way in which the identity of campus da’wa activists forms a culture of diversity through Lembaga Dakwah Kampus Mahasiswa Pencinta Mushola (LDK-MPM) in IAIN Sultan Amai Gorontalo. The members of the LDK consist of students from various backgrounds, including PMII, HMI, IMM, KAMMI, etc.  The method used in this study is participant-observation with self/identity theory proposed by Gabriele Marranci as the framework of analysis. This article shows that LDK-MPM since its foundation have been an open organization for all Muslims students regardless of their organizational affiliations. The environments and experiences of those students are diverse, leading to diversity in deciding the organizational affiliations outside of the LDK. The diversity of its members is maintained through the mutual agreement between the members and the murabbi, that LDK is a neutral space for all students. Additionally, they are capable of positions themselves; when to behave as the members of LDK and when to act as the cadre of other extra-campus organizations. LDK-MPM has been a unifying space for Muslims student in IAIN Sultan Amai Gorontalo.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic that has occurred in almost all countries, especially in Indonesia, has had a fairly severe impact on all walk of life. In this context, philanthropic actions have continued to develop; more and more companies and individuals have recently been active in philanthropic activities. This study examines the philanthropic activity of the members of the Tarekat Qadiriyah wa Naqsyabandiyah during the pandemic crisis with the help of the advanced of digital technology. It describes a movement from women follower of Tarekat Qadiriyah wa Naqysabandiyah to help people affected by Covid-19. This research shows that the tarekat movement also takes advantage of the digital technology for their philantrophic cause.

Abstract

This article focuses on the word hijrah in Q.S. al-Nisāʾ: 100. It is an important topic following the rise of the hijrahmovement along with all its religious attitudes. This development led to a semantical shift of the word hijrah, from originally referring to the historical movement of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in 622 AD to a kindlifestyletyle marked with symbolic and exclusive religiousness. To this end, the study used the Maʿna cum Maghza method of interpretation. This article argues the followings: First, the current hijrah trend with all its dynamics undergoes a shift in meaning so that it is closer to symbolic religiosity. Second, the historical-phenomenal significance of QS. al-Nisāʾ: 100 is that the hijrah movement in Indonesia should be seen within a proportional context of its historical, ideological and cultural basis, especially for the context of Indonesia which has a diversity of tribes, races and religions. Third, the trend of hijrah with its exclusive religious attitude slowly but surely must be addressed by advocating pluralism values. Thus, inclusiveness and openness are needed as the main foundation in building a plural and religious moderation.

Abstract

Abstract The act of radicalism and terrorism under the name of ethnic, religion and gender are becoming rampant. The new motive was targeting woman, to be the subject of the violence. However, the term woman and radicalism itself have several paradoxes in its discourses. As oppose that woman might be both the subject and object of violence, they could also actively and collectively prevent the radicalism. thus, there should be enough generalization of woman as the weak target of radicalism and terrorism. Woman are crucial in the contribution of radicalism prevention. This research intended to seek the complicity of woman in terrorism movement. It revealed the reasons behind many acts of terrorism that had happened. Moreover, this research alsooffer solutions to empower women  to prevent radicalism  served several facts of woman abilities that were actively and collectively contributed in radicalism prevention. Abstract

This article discusses two methods of interpretation that are currently developing in Indonesia, namely the interpretation of Maqashidi and Ma'na cum Maghza. Through literature review, the focus of this paper is to dissect themethodological construction of both approaches through the important works both related to methodological reviews andstudies that operationalize both methods. Maʿna cum Maghza is an approach that explicitly stands on the development of Hermeneutic theory to be adapted into a method of interpretation of the Qur'an, while the Maqashidi exegesis is an attempt at interpreting the Qur'an that looks at the aspect of the purpose of a verse being revealed. However, in general, this paper concludes that the interpretation of Maqashidi and Maʿna cum Maghza is a continuation of the history of the hermeneutics of the Qur'an in Indonesia. The approach of Ma'na cum Maghza and Tafsir Maqashidi both have contributed in the efforts to extract the meaning of the Qur’an, because it seeks to explore meanings that are in accordance with the needs of today's society. Thus, it is very likely that both come from the same root. Artikel ini membahas dua metode penafsiran yang saat ini berkembang di Indonesia, yaitu tafsir Maqashidi dan Ma’na cum Maghza. Melalui telaah kepustakaan, fokus tulisan ini adalah membedah konstruksi metodologis kedua pendekatan tersebut melalui data-data berupa karya-karya penting baik terkait ulasan metodologis maupun kajian yang mengoperasionalkan kedua metode tersebut. Maʿna cum Maghza adalah pendekatan yang secara eksplisit berdiri di atas pengembangan teori Hermeneutika untuk diadaptasi menjadi metode penafsiran Al-Qur’an, sementara tafsir Maqashidi merupakan upaya penafsiran al-Qur’an yang menilik pada aspek tujuan dari suatu ayat diturunkan. Namun demikian, secara umum, tulisan ini berkesimpulan bahwa tafsir Maqashidi dan Maʿna cum Maghza adalah kelanjutan dari sejarah hermeneutika Al-Qur’an di Indonesia. Pendekatan Ma'na cum Maghza dan Tafsir Maqashidi sama-sama memiliki kontribusi dalam upaya penggalian makna yang terkandung dalam ayat yang hendak ditafsirkan, karena berupaya menggali makna yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan masyarakat masa kini. Dari persamaan tersebut tidak menutup kemungkinan bahwa keduanya berasal dari akar yang sama.

Abstract

Sexual violence and casual sex that has recently been rife in Indonesia cannot be separated from the low understanding of sex from an early age. This is supported by Indonesian culture that places sex as taboo and something not to be discussed with children. This article is an attempt to uncover textual justifications from the Qur'an regarding sex education for children. The method used in this study is the hermeneutic approach of ma'na-cum-maghza which will be applied to QS. Al-Nur: 58-59. The result of this study is that sex education for children is mandatory, as reflected in QS. An-Nur: 58-59. After further analysis, the foundation on sex education is also found in QS. An-Nur: 27 and the several hadiths of the Prophet as presented in this paper. Understanding sex education for children does not mean teaching sex to children, but educating them about their existence as biological beings. This is expected to be used as one of the preventive efforts in terms of preventing children from sexual violence.Kekerasan seksual dan seks bebas yang belakangan marak di Indonesia tidak terlepas dari rendahnya pemahaman terhadap seks sejak usia dini. Hal ini didukung oleh budaya Indonesia yang menempatkan seks sebagai hal yang tabu dan tidak dibicarakan di depan anak-anak, sehingga pendidikan seks terhadap kepada mereka minim. Artikel ini adalah upaya mengungkap justifikasi tekstual dari Al-Qur’an terkait pendidikan seks bagi anak. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan hermeneutika ma’na-cum-maghza yang akan diaplikasikan terhadapa QS. Al-Nur: 58-59. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah pendidikan seks terhadap anak wajib untuk diberikan, sebagaimana terefleksikan dalam QS. An-Nur: 58-59. Setelah melakukan analisis lebih lanjut, landasan tentang sex education juga ditemukan dalam QS. An-Nur: 27 dan hadis-hadis Nabi yang penulis cantumkan. Pemahaman tentang pendidikan seks terhadap anak bukan berarti mengajarkan seks kepada anak, namun memberikan edukasi kepada mereka tentang eksisitensi diri mereka sebagai makhluk biologis. Hal ini diharapkan dapat dijadikan salah satu upaya preventif dalam hal menghindarkan anak dari kekerasan seksual.

Abstract

Prophethood and revelation are the two main pillars (asās al-ūla) in the texture of Islamic theology. Prophethood has an ideal role as an intermediary for al-Ḥaq to al-Khalq, while 'revelation' as a corpus of God becomes the legality of a prophethood (nubuwwah). This paper describes the theological study of prophethood and revelation in QS. an-Nisā' [4]:136 using thematic analysis upon the qur'an and its interpretation. The results of this study is the description of notion of prophethood and revelation in an inclusive manner (QS. Ghāfir [40] 78) in the Qur'an. Additionally, the dicta of faith towards both, at least 25 figures and four books and the two temperatures, have an urgent accentuation for individual Muslims, so that the denial of all or part of the details can have implications for the theological foundation power of a Muslim in religion. In addition, this study also elaborates the criteria that can be used as legitimacy of the truth of a prophet's nubuwwah, among others; first, the existence of 'revelation' (philosophical sacrality); second, a 'miracle' (superiority); Third, carrying out 'shari'ah' (constructivity of humanity).Kenabian dan wahyu merupakan dua pilar utama (asās al-ūla) dalam tekstur teologi Islam. Kenabian memiliki peranan ideal sebagai perantara al-Ḥaq kepada al-Khalq, sementara ‘wahyu’ sebagai korpus Tuhan menjadi legalitas atas suatu kenabian (nubuwwah). Tulisan ini menguraikan kajian teologis tentang kenabian dan wahyu dalam QS. an-Nisā’ [4]: 136 dengan menggunakan analisis tematik ayat dan interpretasi teks al-Qur’an. Hasil kajian ini mendeskripsikan pengertian kenabian dan wahyu secara inklusif (QS. Ghāfir [40] 78) dalam al-Qur’an. Kemudian, dikte perintah beriman terhadap keduanya, sekurang-kurangnya terhadap 25 tokoh dan empat kitab beserta dua suhuf itu, memiliki aksentuasi yang urgen bagi individual umat Islam, sehingga pengingkaran terhadap semua atau sebagian rinciannya dapat berimplikasi pada daya pondasi teologis seorang muslim dalam beragama. Selain itu, kajian ini juga mengelaborasi kriteria-kriteria yang dapat dijadikan legitimasi kebenaran nubuwwah seorang nabi, di antaranya; pertama, adanya ‘wahyu’ (sakralitas filosofis); kedua, diberikan ‘mukjizat’ (superioritas); ketiga, mengemban ‘syari’at’ (konstruktivitas kemanusiaan).

Abstract

Imas Lu’ul Jannah, Qari Selebriti: Resitasi Alquran dan Anak Muda Muslim di Era Media Sosial (Yogyakarta: Pascasarjana UIN Sunan Kalijaga, 2021This book discusses the relationship between social media and Qur’anic recitation with the focus on the case study of the phenomena of the popularity of young celebrity Quranic reciters (qari) in Indonesia. This book conveys some findings: the emergence of the Qur’anic recitation in the public sphere of Indonesian social media cannot be separated from the advancement of the technology of social media in the Indonesian socio-political context. Second, Youtube and Instagram play the role not only as facilitating the observed reciters (Muzammil, Taqy, Boim, and Salim) in gaining popularity but also as a medium to set the Qur’an closer to its audiences. Third, the dakwa movement of these celebrity reciters has impacts, such as the shift of the Qur'anic sound from the sacred state to the secular culture of social media and the introduction of religious atmosphere in the digital world.
