Abstract

This study employs a quantitative research approach to investigate the factors influencing decision-making an Islamic Boarding School In Batam City. Quantitative research utilizes structured tools such as surveys to gather numerical data, focusing on quantifying relationships and behaviors and employing statistical techniques to test hypotheses. Conducted during the 2023/2024 academic year, the research involved 100 respondents selected through purposive sampling, comprising 22 vocational school students and community members surrounding the boarding school in Tanjung Riau, Batam. Data were collected using an online questionnaire with a 5-point Likert scale and analyzed using SPSS 21 for multiple linear regression to explore the impact of independent variables (Price, Location, Promotion) on the decision to choose the boarding school. Findings reveal that Price significantly affects decision-making (regression coefficient B = 0.299, t-value = 3.222), indicating that higher prices increase the likelihood of choosing the boarding school. Location also has a substantial impact (B = 0.657, t-value = 6.793), suggesting that a strategic location enhances the probability of selection. Promotion shows a significant effect (B = 0.306, t-value = 4.739), albeit slightly weaker than Location. Overall, the multiple linear regression analysis demonstrates the model's significance (F-value = 17.183), implying that Price, Location, and Promotion collectively influence the decision to choose a boarding school. These insights are crucial for educational institutions aiming to understand key decision-making factors..

Abstract

This study aims to examine how the emotional intelligence of customer service agents influences problem resolution, customer satisfaction, and repurchase intention within Platform X, a major ride-hailing and food-delivery service in Indonesia. As customers increasingly encounter service failures such as delayed refunds, repeated driver cancellations with charges applied, and double payment incidents, understanding how they experience emotionally intelligent responses becomes essential. This research employs a qualitative approach using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) to explore customers’ meaning-making processes during emotionally charged interactions. The population of this study consists of active users of Platform X. A homogeneous purposive sample of six participants aged 20–35 years was selected based on their experience with at least one of the identified service failures and direct communication with a human service agent. Data were collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews as the primary instrument, complemented by field notes. All interviews were conducted online and audio-recorded with participant consent. The results reveal three key themes: experiencing emotional understanding and recognition, interpreting the agent’s intentions during the resolution process, and forming emotional and relational outcomes that shape satisfaction and repurchase intention. These findings demonstrate that emotionally intelligent service behaviours help restore trust, reduce emotional distress, and strengthen long-term customer loyalty.

Abstract

The life insurance industry is a knowledge-intensive and service-oriented sector in which organizational performance depends heavily on employee competence, ethical conduct, and discretionary work behavior. This study explores the role of Human Capital Management (HCM) and Work Ethics (WE) in predicting Organizational Citizenship Behavior directed toward the organization (OCB-O) and toward individuals (OCB-I), as well as their subsequent impact on employee performance. Drawing on the Resource-Based View, the study positions OCB as a behavioral mechanism through which human capital and ethical values are transformed into sustainable performance outcomes. This research adopts a quantitative approach using survey data collected from 250 employees working in life insurance companies in the Riau Islands Province, Indonesia. Data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). Reliability, convergent validity, and discriminant validity were rigorously assessed, and common method bias was examined using procedural and statistical techniques. The results indicate that both HCM and WE have significant positive effects on OCB-O and OCB-I. Work Ethics emerged as a stronger predictor of citizenship behaviors compared to HCM, highlighting the importance of integrity, responsibility, and discipline in fostering extra-role behavior. Furthermore, both dimensions of OCB significantly enhance employee performance, with OCB-I exerting a stronger influence than OCB-O. Mediation analysis confirms that OCB-O and OCB-I partially mediate the relationships between HCM, WE, and performance, with OCB-I functioning as the most influential behavioral pathway. This study contributes to the literature by distinguishing between organizational and interpersonal dimensions of OCB and demonstrating their differential roles in the life insurance industry. Practically, the findings emphasize the need for organizations to integrate strategic human capital practices with strong ethical values to foster citizenship behaviors that drive superior performance. Future research is encouraged to adopt longitudinal designs and explore moderating variables such as leadership style and organizational culture.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of Zakat, Islamic Corporate Social Responsibility (ICSR), and Sharia Good Governance (GGBS) on the reputation of Sharia Commercial Banks in Indonesia. Reputation plays a central role in shaping public trust and strengthening the institutional credibility of Islamic financial institutions, particularly as the industry continues to expand in alignment with national and global Islamic finance agendas. Using a quantitative approach, this research analysed secondary data obtained from annual reports of Islamic commercial banks registered with the Financial Services Authority (OJK) for the 2019–2023 period. Multiple linear regression was employed to measure both the individual and simultaneous effects of the three independent variables on bank reputation. The findings reveal that zakat exerts a significant positive effect on reputation, demonstrating its strategic role as both a religious obligation and an instrument of socio-economic empowerment. Zakat distribution functions as a credible signal that reinforces stakeholder trust and enhances institutional legitimacy. Conversely, ICSR does not show a significant effect on reputation, indicating that current CSR disclosures may not yet be perceived as strong value drivers by the public or may lack strategic visibility. Meanwhile, Sharia Good Governance (GGBS) demonstrates a significant positive influence, affirming the importance of transparency, accountability, compliance, and ethical governance in shaping the reputation of Islamic banks. Overall, the study highlights the need for Islamic banks to strengthen governance mechanisms and optimise zakat management to reinforce public confidence. It also suggests that ICSR practices require greater strategic alignment and communication to meaningfully contribute to institutional reputation.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology has reshaped organizational systems, work structures, and human resource practices across all sectors. As automation, artificial intelligence, and data-driven processes increasingly define operational models, organizations face the urgent challenge of sustaining a capable, motivated, and future-ready workforce. In this context, leadership becomes a determining factor in navigating digital transformation effectively. This study examines the role of transformational leadership in building sustainable human resources in the digital era. Transformational leadership characterized by vision, inspiration, intellectual stimulation, and individualized consideration aligns strongly with the demands of digital transformation, where continuous learning, adaptability, and innovation are essential. Drawing on an integrative literature review, this study synthesizes findings from recent empirical and conceptual works to identify how leadership influences employee motivation, skill development, and long-term organizational sustainability. The analysis shows that transformational leaders foster intrinsic motivation, strengthen psychological readiness for change, and promote a culture of learning and collaboration. These leadership behaviors help reduce resistance to technological disruption and support the development of digital competencies. Moreover, transformational leadership reinforces human-centered values, ensuring that technological advancement is balanced with employee well-being and organizational ethics. The findings highlight that sustainable human resource development depends not only on technological investment but also on leadership capacity to inspire trust, cultivate a supportive culture, and guide employees through ongoing change. This study concludes that transformational leadership serves as a strategic driver for creating resilient, innovative, and sustainable human resources capable of thriving in the digital era.

Abstract

Community-based tourism (CBT) has emerged as a sustainable alternative to mass tourism, prioritizing local empowerment, environmental preservation, and cultural integrity. The “1,000 Steps” in Sitio Nagtipunan, Sto. Domingo, Alfonso Lista, Ifugao, represents an emerging tourism destination that embodies these principles by promoting community engagement and environmental stewardship. Despite its natural beauty and cultural richness, the site’s viability as a CBT destination remains underassessed. Determining its alignment with the ASEAN Community-Based Tourism (CBT) Standard is essential to establish a sustainable tourism framework that enhances local livelihoods, fosters effective governance, and strengthens environmental management. The study aimed to assess the potential of the “1,000 Steps” as a CBT site by evaluating its performance based on ASEAN CBT dimensions. Employing a descriptive research design, data were gathered from 218 respondents, including residents, tourists, and local officials, through a structured and patterned questionnaire. Statistical tools, including mean, frequency, and percentage, were utilized in the data analysis. Results revealed strong community participation and transparent governance, high partnership effectiveness, and solid contributions to social well-being. Environmental conservation practices were positively rated, while tour and guiding services achieved the highest rating, reflecting both cultural sensitivity and visitor satisfaction. However, food and beverage services and management showed moderate adherence to standards, highlighting areas for improvement in hygiene and training. Findings confirm that active community involvement enhances the sustainability of tourism. Practically, the study provides an evidence-based framework for policymakers and planners to integrate ASEAN CBT standards into rural destinations, promoting inclusive, culturally grounded, and environmentally sustainable tourism development in the Philippines.

Abstract

This research investigates the strategic position of talent management in enhancing the effectiveness and sustainability of funds for non-profit organizations, with a focus on a case study of the Cultural Youth Forum in Yogyakarta. The background of this research is based on the need to efficiently manage human resources in a voluntary organization focused on preserving local culture, at a time when youth participation is declining. The main objective of this research is to understand how talent management strategies can contribute to organizational sustainability, both internally (member performance and loyalty) and externally (sponsor attractiveness and funding sources). The method used is a qualitative approach with a case study, thru data collection from online questionnaire surveys, in-depth interviews with officers, members, alumni, and external partners, as well as documentation of activities. The analysis process was conducted using a thematic approach thru data reduction, coding, theme identification, and conclusion drawing. Research findings indicate that the recruitment process is considered transparent (87%), experiential training enhances members' abilities (82%), and retention strategies prioritizing comfort and social recognition are effective in maintaining loyalty (78%). The three main themes identified are: talent as a driver of the program, social recognition as a retention strategy, and member quality as a symbolic asset for the organization. Talent management has proven to play a crucial role in the smooth running of programs, increased participation, and strengthening the organization's reputation in the eyes of sponsors. The conclusion of this research emphasizes that talent management is an essential component in maintaining the effectiveness and sustainability of non-profit organizations, and needs to be developed thru a structured training system, inclusive reward strategies, and communication that highlights the quality of members as the core value for the organization.

Abstract

In the sustainability era marked by environmental uncertainty, technological disruption, and global socio-economic transformation, organizations are increasingly required to build adaptive capacities that ensure long-term resilience. The research aims to analyze how human-centered capability development and value-based leadership interact to create organizational adaptability that integrates economic, social, and ecological priorities. This study employs a qualitative descriptive method, collecting data through semi-structured interviews, document analysis, and observation within sustainability-oriented institutions. Data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, encompassing data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing to interpret the interrelation between leadership, learning culture, and adaptive behavior. The findings reveal that Human Capital Development serves as the structural foundation that enhances innovation, learning agility, and employee empowerment, while Sustainable Leadership functions as the ethical compass that guides these human capacities toward responsible and forward-looking transformation. The integration of both elements generates a resilient, learning-oriented, and value-driven organizational ecosystem that continuously adapts to environmental, social, and technological shifts. In conclusion, the research emphasizes that adaptability in the sustainability era is a human-driven process grounded in continuous learning, ethical leadership, and systemic alignment. Organizations that invest in human capital and adopt sustainability-based leadership models demonstrate stronger resilience and competitiveness. These results contribute theoretically by integrating Dynamic Capability Theory and Sustainability Leadership Framework, and practically by offering a conceptual roadmap for organizations aiming to embed sustainability into their adaptive management systems.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of financial literacy on the financial management of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in North Kolaka Regency. MSMEs play a strategic role in the Indonesian economy; however, many business actors still face fundamental challenges in managing their finances due to limited financial knowledge and skills. This research adopts a quantitative approach with a sample of 100 MSME owners selected using incidental sampling techniques. Primary data were collected through structured questionnaires, supported by observations and brief interviews to enrich contextual understanding. The financial literacy variable was measured through indicators of financial knowledge, attitudes, and behavior, while financial management was assessed through practices of financial recording, budgeting, cash flow management, and the use of simple financial tools. The data were analyzed using simple linear regression to test the effect of financial literacy on financial management. The results show that financial literacy has a positive and significant effect on the financial management of MSMEs in North Kolaka Regency, as indicated by a significance value of 0.002 (< 0.05) and a positive regression coefficient. These findings imply that higher levels of financial literacy enable MSME actors to manage their finances more effectively, including separating personal and business finances, planning budgets, and maintaining business cash flow stability. The study suggests the importance of strengthening financial education programs and mentoring for MSMEs as a strategic step to improve business sustainability and regional economic resilience.
