Abstract

The pandemic causes the risk of gender-based violence to increase, one of which is domestic violence. It is because many women as mothers are workers, so they also have to do waiting office tasks, as well as do household work which is frequently burdened by women. Based on data from the Online Information System for the Protection of Women and Children (understood as Sistem Informasi Online Perlindungan Perempuan dan Anak/SIMFONI PPA) in October 2022, 19,613 cases of violence occurred, with details of 3,164 male victims and 17,960 victims, specifically for NTT (East Nusa Tenggara) Province as many as 895 cases of violence. Percentage of Women Victims of Violence by Type of Violence in the Province of NTT of abuse 44.03%, humiliation 65.01%, harassment 7.12%, neglect 12.71%, and others 13.02%. Perpetrators 68.85% are parents and victims of violence against women 1.91% in rural areas and 2.23 in urban areas. The Research Objective is to identify the 'HeForShe'' Approach Model to the Involvement of Men in the Elimination of Violence against Women and Children in Kupang City and Kupang Regency, NTT Province in 2022. The research Method is a Mixed Method, Qualitative with Phenomenological Method and Quantitative Descriptive Survey Method. The population in the study were informants encompassing married men and women aged <55 years with the sample criteria being wife/husband status, and living together for more than 1 year. Female and male aged 18 years and unmarried, living with their parents. Religious leaders, midwives, teachers, and local government. Purposive sampling. Collecting data was performed by in-depth interviews and FGD in groups of 10-15 people, analysis was carried out descriptively, and a way ANOVA test to compare the three models. Research Results: From the 3 proposed models, it was discovered that 65 percent of respondents agreed with model 2, and the results of the one-way ANOVA test were obtained the p-value is 0.002 or smaller than alpha 5%, Conclusion: One model was obtained, namely the Network Coordination Model for the Office of Health, Education and Local Government in Empowering Youth in Primary Health Units and schools in Action to Prevent Violence against Women and Children. Recommended as one of the HeForShe models that is more appropriate to apply in the case of the Approach to the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Children by involving teenagers.

Abstract

Many factors can affect the prognosis of COVID-19 patients, and Cycle Threshold value can be used to estimate the amount of virus in the body. Oxygen saturation and D-dimer are important components in determining the severity. This study aims to analyze the difference of CT value, oxygen saturation, D-dimer, and degree of severity on vaccination state. This study is the observational analytic study of patients admitted to the isolation ward of a referral hospital in Surakarta, Indonesia. The analysis covered assessing the normality of the data, the Kruskal-Wallis correlation test, and ANOVA to assess the differences between variables. A total of 154 patients with, 65.6% of them did not participate in the full vaccination program. The results of the analysis showed a significant difference between the D-dimer and the degree of severity with a p-value of < 0.05, while the CT value and oxygen saturation had no significant difference with the vaccination state. Vaccination showed a significant difference with D-dimer and the degree of severity of COVID-19 infection, so giving a complete vaccine can reduce the severity of COVID-19 patients, and we recommended to be able to complete the vaccine for the whole community.

Abstract

The service that most affects patient satisfaction is nursing services. Whether or not patients are satisfied with health services is an indicator and one of the determining factors for the good and bad quality of professional nursing care. For this reason, this study aims to analyze nurses' caring behavior and patient satisfaction at the X Hospital. This type of research is quantitative with a cross sectional approach. The sample selection technique used purposive sampling and calculations were carried out using the slovin formula so that a sample of 119 patient respondents was found, both BPJS patients and general patients. Data collection was carried out in October-December 2022. The analysis used in this study included the chi square test, as well as multivariate analysis using ANOVA. The processing of this research data uses the help of SPSS software. The results showed that the patient age was a variable that was not related to the Principles of Nursing Care Caring Behavior, Leadership and Management of Caring Behavior, and Inpatient Satisfaction of X Hospital. While the variables related to the Principles of Nursing Care Caring Behavior, Leadership and Management of Nursing Care Caring Behavior, and Inpatient Satisfaction of X Hospital are variables of patient gender, patient education level, patient payment type is expected that there will be an increase in Caring leadership attitude between nurses to improve a good work environment between nurses. For hospitals, management improvement is needed to evaluate the provision of health services to BPJS patients and general patients.

Abstract

Prolonged and obstructed labor are the type of abnormal labor that may lead to maternal and fetal mortality. This study established the model for predicting prolonged and obstructed labor in East Nusa Tenggara. A health facilities-based case-control study was conducted in November 2017 among 570 women who gave birth at public health facilities in East Nusa Tenggara. Data were obtained by reviewing antenatal records, the mother's card, and partographs. In bivariate analysis, all variables with a p-value less than 0.25 determined by chi-square for categorical and independent t-test for numerical variables were included in multivariate analysis. Multivariate Adaptive Regression Splines (MARS) analysis was used to establish the final prediction model. The present study found that women <22, >26, and >34, with Hb levels of <12.5 gr%, and had nulliparity or multiparity (4 times) were reported as a higher risk of prolonged and obstructed labor. Meanwhile women with a fundal height of <34 cm, a height of >156 cm and >149 cm, a history of normal labor, presentation of the fetus behind the head, gestational weight gain of <12.3 kg, and pre-pregnancy BMI of <28.9 kg/m2 were identified as factors decreasing the risk of prolonged and obstructed labor. In conclusion, significant predictors of the outcome were maternal characteristics (age, parity, height, and history of labor method), maternal nutrition status (BMI pre-pregnancy, gestational weight gain, and hemoglobin levels), and fetal status (fundal height and fetal presentation).

Abstract

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a disease caused by a novel coronavirus or a new type of corona virus, namely severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). D-dimer and Neutrophil Lymphocyte Ratio are parameters that can be used as a predictor of mortality in COVID-19, so this study aims to determine the relationship between D-dimer levels and NLR with mortality in COVID-19 patients. The study used an analytic observational method with a cross sectional approach from medical record data at UNS Hospital. The population in this study were COVID-19 patients at UNS Hospital who had their D-dimer and NLR levels checked in the period November 2020-January 2021. The sample was taken using a simple random sampling technique. Bivariate data analysis with Spearman Rank Correlation Test. Obtained 72 samples. 46 male patients and 26 female patients with the highest age range of 40-59 years as many as 34 patients. Patients who experienced mortality as many as 24 people while the rest survived. Spearman's Rank test obtained p-values of D-dimer and neutrophil lymphocyte ratio (NLR) with mortality of COVID-19 patients 0.009 and <0.001, respectively. While the correlation coefficients for D-dimer and NLR on mortality were 0.308 and 0.515, respectively. There is a relationship between D-dimer and NLR levels with mortality in COVID-19 patients with a positive correlation.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic impacted all sectors of the world, including business. In fact, the employer faced a collapse, and many employees were determined. Another issue is health insurance, which might change before and during the pandemic. The objective of this study was to examine the factors associated with the employer’s contribution to health insurance during COVID-19. The secondary data, “Rapid Gender Assessment Survey 2021”, was used on 239 employees in Indonesia. The dependent variable in this study was employer contribution to health insurance during the pandemic (yes or no) and the main independent variable was employer contribution before the pandemic. Other sociodemographic variables were also included in the model as controls. This study used univariate, bivariate, and multivariate (binary logistic regression). The result of this study revealed that employers who contributed to health insurance before the pandemic tend to contribute again to health insurance during the pandemic. This study also reviews the legal law, including regulations about national health insurance and employment. The government’s intention is needed to ensure the rights of employees are well realized.

Abstract

Oxidative stress has long been associated with increased risk for several diseases. Antioxidant is a molecule that inhibits the oxidation of other molecules and delays or prevents oxidative damage. Natural phenolic and flavonoid compounds are plant secondary metabolites directly contributing to antioxidant activity. Fibraurea tinctoria Lour, often called the yellow root, is a plant that has long been known in the traditional medicine of the native tribes of West Kalimantan to treat several diseases, including malaria, jaundice, and diabetes. This study aimed to quantify the total phenolic (TPC) and flavonoid (TFC) contents and antioxidant activity of the ethanol extract of yellow root stems. Yellow root stems were extracted by maceration in 96% ethanol for four days. The total phenolic, flavonoid, and antioxidant activities were measured using the Folin-Ciocalteu, AlCl3, and DPPH methods. Phytochemical screening showed that the ethanol extract of yellow root stems contains phenolics, flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, tannins, and steroids/triterpenoids. The total phenol and flavonoid contents were 40.2 mg GAE/g extract and 61.2 mg QE/g extract, respectively. The ethanol extract of yellow root stems showed moderate DPPH scavenging activity, with an IC50 of 152.13 ppm. From this study, it can be concluded that this plant could be a potential source of natural antioxidants.

Abstract

The concept of women's empowerment encompasses enabling women to take control of their own lives, independently make choices, and fulfill their complete capabilities. Numerous research studies examined the correlation between the empowerment of women and their reproductive health. In Indonesia, female labor force participation is relatively low. As a result, research on the influence of empowering women on contraceptive method preference in Indonesia makes sense. This research aims to find the multinomial logistic regression model in choosing contraceptive methods for married women in Indonesia and to identify the women’s empowerment traits that most impact contraceptive method choice.  For this study, the researchers utilized secondary data obtained from the 2017 Indonesian Demographic and Health Survey (IDHS). The participants consisted of women between the ages of 15 and 49 who were married. The total number of respondents sampled was 49,216. Variables that significantly affect contraceptive method use include the respondent's current employment, the respondent has bank account or other financial institution accounts, the cumulative count of offspring previously born and beating justified if the wife argues with her husband. The analysis is obtained using the multinomial logistic regression test, independency, multicollinearity, and parameter test, and the selection is made by considering either the smallest value of Akaike's information criterion or the option that achieves the highest level of accuracy. Findings highlight four significant variables: Firstly, employed women are more likely to use contraceptives than the unemployed. Secondly, access to banking services correlates with a higher likelihood of contraceptive use. Thirdly, women with more children tend to prefer long-acting reversible contraceptives. Lastly, endorsement of spousal violence justifiability is linked to conventional contraceptive selection. These results emphasize the roles of employment, financial access, family size, and gender-based violence perceptions in shaping contraceptive choices in Indonesia. Model 3 emerges as the most accurate predictor of preferences after eliminating six variables based on rigorous testing and multicollinearity considerations. These findings underscore the importance of addressing economic empowerment and gender-related issues in Indonesian reproductive health programs and policies. Such a comprehensive approach can enhance women's autonomy, enabling them to make crucial life choices and ultimately improving their overall well-being.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus patients in Central Java grow yearly. According to data provided by the Central Java Health Department in 2019, Diabetes mellitus ranks second as the largest non-communicable disease (NCD), covering 13,4% of the total NCD patients. The prevalence of diabetic ulcers is 15-25% of all diabetes mellitus patients in Indonesia, which concerns the author regarding the possible increase of the diabetic ulcer population in Central Java. The severity of diabetic ulcers depends on various factors, including infection and complications. The most common complication is sepsis, a systemic infection often arising from local infections that are not appropriately treated, causing progressive damage and increasing mortality rates. This study aims to examine the comparison of ulcer severity in diabetic ulcer patients with sepsis and non-sepsis complications using Meggitt Wagner's criteria. This study utilizes an analytic observational study using a cross-sectional approach. The author sampled 126 patients diagnosed with Diabetic Ulcers in 2022 at Dr. Moewardi General Hospital for this study, using a purposive sampling method. The research was conducted by looking at the patient's medical record data, and data analysis using SPSS software. The test used in this research includes a Parametric T-independent test and a Pearson bivariate relationship test. This study shows that the comparison of ulcer severity in diabetic ulcer patients with sepsis and without sepsis was statistically significant (p-value = 0.000002). The mean of the group with sepsis (3.4127) was greater than the group without sepsis (2.5238). In conclusion, the comparison of ulcer severity in diabetic ulcer patients with sepsis and without sepsis is significant. We recommend future researchers include patients’ comorbidities, total hospitalization time, and detailed information on drug use and patient adherence to treatment in their research for more nuanced findings.
