Abstract

The objectives of the study are to describe the types of error made by the students in third semester students of STKIP Taman Siswa Bima in academic year 2011-2012, what are the dominances of error and what are the pedagogical consequence in language teaching of writing skill. The method used by the writer in this thesis is case study. The writer used case study because the writer observes activities by students of STKIP Taman Siswa Bima when they conducted the teaching-learning process. In this study, the researcher does not take all of students of STKIP Taman Siswa Bima but the researcher only takes the students of STKIP Taman Siswa Bima especially English department at the third semester in academic year 2011-2012. The techniques of collecting the data are observation, interview, record and transcription. The data collected in this research are the form recording and transcription of students conversation conducted by the students’ and lecturer, and students’ and other. The processes in data analysis are reduction of data, discussion of findings, and conclusion. The results of this study show three types of error made by the students’ of STKIP Taman Siswa Bima at third semester in academic year 2011-2012, it is contains morphological level, lexical level and syntax level. Morphological level consists of omit of prefix {-un}, omit of suffix {-d} or {-ed}, {-s} or {es} and omit of {-ly}. Lexical level contains of verbs, articles, pronouns, adverbs, noun, and conjunction. And syntactical level include of tenses and To Be. In this level, the students omit of To Be in the sentence.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to examine the correlation between language anxiety and English language proficiency in the context of classroom presentation by second-semester students in the Department of English at UNIQHBA. This study employed a quantitative approach with correlational method to identify and elucidate the relationship and the level of correlation between students language anxiety and their speaking performance. The Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale (FLCAS), developed by Horwitz et al., was employed to quantify students anxiety when speaking in English. Furthermore, students speaking performance was evaluated through a Speaking Assessment by Bown & Abeywickrama. The result of the analysis indicated a correlation (0.188) between language anxiety and students speaking performance. However, the correlation was not statistically significant, with a sig-(0,408) exceeding 0,05. Consequently, it can be concluded that the relationship between language anxiety and students English speaking performance among second-semester students in the department of English at UNIQHBA is very weak and insignificant.

Abstract

Object Description Activities Technique to Improve Students’ Speaking Skills at MTs Sirajul Huda. Thesis. English Education Department. Undergraduate Program. University of Qamarul Huda Badaruddin Bagu. 2025. This research was motivated by phenomena in the process of teaching and learning English, where students have low speaking ability several contributing factors were students have lack of confidence to speak in front of the class and also students’ vocabulary was still very low. So the students need a technique that can help them to improve their speaking skills, one of which is the Object Description Activities technique. The purpose of this research was to find out whether or not Object Description Activities technique can improve students’ speaking skills at MTs Sirajul Huda. This study used pre-experimental design. The sample was 20 eighth grade students of MTs Sirajul Huda. The instrument in this study used a speaking test in the form of Lombok tourism which familiar to students to collect data. First, the researcher gave a pretest, second gave treatment, and third the researcher gave a posttest. Researcher analyzed the data using the SPSS computer program to compare data results, the tests used were descriptive statistics, normality tests and T-tests. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that: (1) the use of Object Description Activities technique was very effective to improve students’ speaking ability. This can be seen from the results of the study which show the average value before treatment was 56.20 and the average value after treatment was 67.90. (2) the use of storytelling techniques was very suitable for use in the learning process, as evidenced by the students’ expressiveness and enthusiasm which makes the class more fun

Abstract

The aim of this research is to analyze the implementation of Team Game Tournament (TGT) in improving student’s listening skill. The design of this research is one-group pretest-posttest design type pre-experimental research design. The researcher chose one class as a sample. The number of sample selected was 24 students. The data obtain from multiple choices to fill the blank test. The researcher found that the result of the students’ mean score of pre-test was 79,58 and it was improved to 91,25 in post-test. In addition, the result shows a significant improvement in students’ listening skill after the implementation of Team Game Tournament (TGT). The application of TGT not only enhances listening skill but also increases students’ motivation and participation in the learning process. Therefore, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted while the null hypothesis is rejected. Based on the result analysis, the researcher occluded that the implementation of TGT can improve students’ listening skill.

Abstract

Evaluation is one of the most important components of learning, as it serves as a means to assess students’ abilities and achievements. In developing assessment tools, item analysis must be conducted to ensure the quality of the test items. This study aims to analyze the quality of the end-of-semester test items for Grade IV Indonesian Language subject in the 2024/2025 academic year, based on item difficulty level and discrimination index. This research is a quantitative descriptive study. Data collection was conducted through documentation of the Grade IV Indonesian Language end-of-semester test. The collected data were used to determine the quality and feasibility of the test items. The population of this study includes all items in the 2024/2025 Indonesian Language end-of-semester test at SDN 51 Buton. The sample consisted of the Grade IV test items, with a total of 17 students in the class. The results show that: (1) in terms of difficulty level, 9 items (45%) were categorized as easy, 11 items (55%) as moderate, and 0 items (0%) as difficult; (2) in terms of discrimination index, 2 items (8%) were categorized as very good, 8 items (42%) as good, 8 items (42%) as fair, and 2 items (8%) as poor. Overall, the quality of the Indonesian Language test items for the 2024/2025 academic year at SDN 51 Buton can be considered good, although improvements are still needed for several items to enhance the overall test quality. Therefore, item analysis based on difficulty level and discrimination index is essential to develop better test items in the future.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menginvestigasi efektivitas penggunaan Permainan Rantai Kata (Chain Words Game) dalam meningkatkan penguasaan kosakata siswa kelas IX di SMP Al-Ma'arif Almansuriyah Tanak Rarang tahun ajaran 2025/2026. Studi ini didorong oleh pengamatan bahwa banyak siswa kesulitan dengan keterbatasan kosakata, yang tidak dapat diatasi secara efektif oleh metode pengajaran tradisional. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain pra-eksperimental kuantitatif dengan pendekatan satu kelompok pre-test dan post-test. Sampel terdiri dari 23 siswa dari satu kelas IX, yang dipilih secara sengaja (purposive). Data dikumpulkan melalui tes kosakata dan dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif dan uji-t sampel berpasangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan pada nilai kosakata siswa, dengan nilai rata-rata meningkat dari 56,40 pada pre-test menjadi 78,60 pada post-test. Uji-t sampel berpasangan mengkonfirmasi signifikansi statistik dari hasil tersebut, menunjukkan nilai t sebesar 9,85 dengan tingkat signifikansi 0,000 (lebih rendah dari 0,05). Hasil ini mengindikasikan bahwa Permainan Rantai Kata adalah strategi pembelajaran yang efektif dan menarik untuk meningkatkan penguasaan kosakata siswa, mendorong partisipasi aktif di kelas, dan meningkatkan motivasi siswa.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyelidiki penggunaan model Flipped Classroom yang terintegrasi dengan Blended Learning untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara siswa di MA Al-Ma’arif Taklimusshibyan Sangkong Bonder. Penelitian ini didorong oleh pengamatan bahwa siswa sering mengandalkan metode tradisional berbasis ceramah, yang mengakibatkan kurangnya peluang praktik dan performa komunikatif yang rendah. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain pra-eksperimental kuantitatif dengan pendekatan satu kelompok pre-test dan post-test. Sampel penelitian melibatkan 20 siswa kelas XI yang mengikuti enam sesi pembelajaran. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan tes pilihan ganda dan kuesioner untuk mengukur pemahaman berbicara dan persepsi siswa. Hasilnya menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam kemampuan berbicara siswa, dengan nilai rata-rata meningkat dari 44,75 pada pre-test menjadi 73,50 pada post-test. Uji t sampel berpasangan mengkonfirmasi bahwa perbedaan tersebut signifikan secara statistik (t = -14.750, p < 0.001). Selain itu, analisis kuesioner menunjukkan persepsi positif siswa, menandakan peningkatan motivasi dan partisipasi aktif karena sifat pendekatan yang fleksibel dan interaktif. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa Flipped Classroom dengan Blended Learning, yang didukung oleh teknologi, merupakan strategi yang efektif dan inovatif untuk meningkatkan performa berbicara siswa di sekolah menengah.
