Abstract

Silage has proven to be an effective way to extend the availability of forage throughout the year. Silage technology transfer brings great benefits in maximizing the use of existing feed sources, improving livestock nutrition, and reducing the impact of limited feed on livestock productivity. The purpose of this activity is to transfer corn straw silage technology which is expected to overcome feed shortages under certain conditions, improve feed quality and maintain the continuity of cattle feed availability in Uraur village. This activity was carried out in Uraur Village, Kairatu District, with partners of cattle breeder groups and the Participation Institute for the Development and Empowerment of the Maluku Protestant Church (PARPEM-GPM) Uraur. The method of activity used is action review which includes concrete actions to overcome problems, collaboration with partners and action authentication. The result of this activity is an increase in the knowledge and skills of farmers and farmers motivated to introduce corn straw silage technology and the desire to use it as an alternative feed for solutions to improve the quality and continiutas of feed which can further increase the growth and production of cattle optimally.

Abstract

The potential for developing a pig farming business is largely determined by the increase in the farmer's income, so calculating production costs and the income received by the farmer is important to determine the economic feasibility of the business. The pig farming business in Suli Village has been developed intensively by farmers in the hope that the results of their production will further increase their family income. The problem faced by pig farmers in Suli Village related to income is the difficulty in determining the basic price of pigs to be sold because they do not have records of expenses (production costs) during the production process. Thus, breeders need to be trained to regularly record all expenditure values so that they can market their products at acceptable prices. The activity stages begin with observations and approaches to obtain information about business conditions and the needs of pig farmers. The next stage is counseling, discussion and direct practice on how to record production costs to be used in determining selling prices. As a result of this activity, farmers can calculate production costs, receipts and income from their pig farming business.

Abstract

Shifting cultivation is an agricultural system that is widely practiced by farmers because it does not require much capital for its activities. However, the impact of shifting cultivation activities is quite large, especially on forest destruction. To control the impact of shifting cultivation practices is to introduce the agroforestry model to farmers. Agroforestry is a farming model that combines agricultural crops and forestry crops. The aim of the activity is to provide insight and understanding to farmers/cultivators who practice shifting cultivation so that they can reduce shifting cultivation activities. A total of 20 representatives from 20 families or 25% of the total number of families in Imabatai village were involved in intensive activities. This activity also involved female representatives, namely 10 people representing 10 families, while 10 men were involved representing 10 families. Participants really responded to this training, because it was something new for farmers. So far, participants have focused more on agricultural systems that rely more on business patterns that only focus on agricultural crops. Apart from that, the aspect of understanding the training material was very good, because 85% of participants were able to answer the evaluation questions well. The future hope is that participants can immediately try to practice agroforestry or dusung because it is very promising to increase farmers' income in the future when harvest time comes. Apart from that, agroforestry practices can reduce the impact of shifting cultivation which leads to the formation of critical land.

Abstract

Carbon reserves in forests play a crucial role in climate change mitigation and the preservation of global ecosystems. Forests act as primary absorbers of carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere, storing carbon in the biomass of trees, soil, and leaf litter. This community service aims to provide understanding and education to the public about carbon storage, factors influencing storage capacity, and the implications of sustainable forest management. The methodology used includes direct measurement of carbon reserves in various forest types and the analysis of secondary data from scientific literature. Survey results indicate that the village forest of Wapkalit still has significant potential, emphasizing the need for community awareness to continue managing and preserving the forest. Socialization conducted through the FGD (Focus Group Discussion) method can directly impart knowledge to the community.

Abstract

Providing exogenous organic materials is a very important ingredient in efforts to safely improve soil productivity, so that the resulting products are safe for consumption and free from chemical contamination. The application of organic fertilizer to horticultural land will directly affect crop yields. The aim of community service on horticultural land in the Mekar Baru farmer group in Waimital village is as an effort to assist and strengthen the plant cultivation system for farmers in maintaining land productivity and sustainable production based on the application of organic fertilizer. The method used is technical assistance to farmers during plant cultivation. The results of the technical assistance provided show that new awareness has been built in the horticultural plant cultivation system. This indicator shows that the application of liquid organic fertilizer to several horticultural plants on farmers' land is better than on land that does not receive organic fertilizer.
