Abstract

Most of the population of Waringin Cap are farmers construction workers, and a small portion are breeders. Government support conditioned one farmer to receive assistance for 700 laying hens, divided into two, 250 each, after the unavoidable loss of 200 chicks. The production of kept chicken eggs does not meet the requirements because they are constrained by the feed supply, both in quality and quantity. Community service activities aim to increase the knowledge and abilities of breeders regarding the use of natural resources around the livestock location to be used as feed ingredients. Community service activities in Waringin Cap hamlet have several solutions, namely an approach with the hamlet government and partner breeder groups regarding the aims and objectives of implementing the science and technology implementation program, implementing counseling, and asking questions about various practical knowledge related to the primary factors, namely feed and its provision, distributing brochures on problems and solutions for improving feed formulas and demonstration plots for laying hen feed formulas. Improving feed using lamtoro leaves is one way that can help farmers meet livestock needs. Community service activities have received good appreciation from farmers because they provide new information for breeders to improve the quality of feed provided so that they can increase egg production.

Abstract

Raising native chickens is a business that has the potential to meet needs and provide additional family income. This livestock has quite a big role in supporting the community's economy. Free-range chicken farms that are often found in rural areas are generally traditional. Intensification of native chickens is a government activity that has been carried out since 2000 to increase the chicken population to fulfill the community's need for animal protein. The potential of native chickens can be developed by using crossbreeding, maintaining good rearing management, one of which is providing good quality and efficient food by utilizing local regional ingredients that do not compete with human needs. Results of artificial ration treatment with livestock Superior livestock produce better egg production and quality of hatching eggs as well as higher DOC weight up to 3 weeks compared to ordinary native chickens which are reared extensively with regular/traditional feed. For chicken egg production, artificial ration treatment provides better results of 35% and a growth difference of almost 50%. The positive impact of rearing like this is that apart from producing better chickens for the needs of the family/community, it can also reduce damage to yard plants and use of wasted waste.

Abstract

Agroforestry is a form of land use carried out by the community, namely a combination pattern of agricultural crops, plantations and forestry. Currently, agroforestry management practices have been widely implemented and provide many benefits both economically, ecologically and culturally. Waai Country, which is located in the Salahutu sub-district, Central Maluku Regency, generally has residents who earn their living as farmers and fishermen. People in Waai country still apply traditional agroforestry management patterns, namely dusung, which is a form of local wisdom in Maluku that is still maintained from generation to generation. The partners' priority problems are decreasing land productivity which directly affects land yields, lack of public interest, especially generations, in farming, and not enriching the types of forestry plants in the hamlets. The solution offered to partners is the realization and stages of activities carrying out extension activities, training activities and planting 100 MPTs (Multi Purpose Tree Species) plant saplings in the village, which will provide various results for the sustainability of the ecosystem and community economy.

Abstract

Farmers in the Mutiara Pattimura Farmers group are vegetable and fruit farmers from Taeno village who help with work. So far, the farmers in this farmer group have been intensively cultivating vegetable and fruit crops, including bitter gourd, long beans, kale, Chinese pumpkin, beligo (gourd), chili and basil. Bitter gourd pests need serious attention before and after planting until harvest, so assistance is needed in the form of direct surveys to farmers' fields. Preventive management of vegetable pests, especially bitter gourd through good and correct cultivation techniques, can be carried out before and after planting to manage the presence of pests in the area. The problem with PKM activities is what pests are found in the bitter melon planting area, how is the cultivation system carried out by farmers in relation to the management of bitter melon pests. Good and correct cultivation techniques before and after planting, the presence of OPT can be managed properly so that it can increase bitter melon production. Based on the problems, the following solutions are offered: Knowledge related to bitter melon cultivation techniques, Knowledge of environmentally friendly OPT control in relation to cultivation techniques. PKM activities are still deemed necessary to be carried out continuously to obtain and convey information and direct discussions with farmers so that they can provide benefits for farmers related to knowledge about pests and appropriate control measures so that optimal production can be achieved.

Abstract

Pigs are animals that have long been kept and developed for the purpose of meeting umanity's need for meat. Pig farming businesses in the community, especially in Wayari, Negeri Suli, Salahutu District, Central Maluku Regency, are still traditional. Pigs that are kept generally do not have good cage equipment and the feed they are given is only food scraps and agricultural waste. The aim of this service is to increase the knowledge and skills of pig farmers. Meanwhile, the benefit to be achieved is that farmers can run their business well, especially with a feeding system and housing system as well as cage equipment that meets the requirements. Breeders have a positive response because this is something that is good for them. Farmers have also realized that when feeding pigs it is necessary to provide additional feed in the form of bran so that it can increase the nutritional value of the rations given. Farmers have also been able to make guard rails so that they can reduce the death rate of pre-weaning piglets due to being crushed by their mothers. It is recommended that ongoing assistance is needed in the form of training in making separation cages, cage mats and heaters for newborn piglets to reduce the death of pre-weaning piglets.

Abstract

The use of yard land is relatively minimal, a lot of yard land is used as idle land, a lot of yard land is only covered with grass. This of course results in minimal development of various innovations related to yard land and the unavailability of spices and vegetables for consumption by the community. Based on these reasons, community service activities were carried out in Saminyamau Village with the title Utilizing House Yards as a Place for Cultivating Spices and Vegetables. Community Service Activities will be held on June 29 2023, located in the Saminyamau Village Office Yard. In its implementation, the speaker conveyed some information on several techniques for cultivating vegetables and herbs that can be used, with the aim of optimizing the potential of yard land to meet the family's daily food needs and providing motivation for the community to make maximum use of yard land which, if it continues to be developed, can be used as a village business. to become a village that is independent of spices and vegetables.

Abstract

Pig farming is one of the livestock sectors with good roles and prospects to be developed in Indonesia, especially in non-Muslim settlement areas. Suli Village is one of the villages on Ambon Island that can be used for pig farming development, as currently, there are already 1112 pigs being raised. The problem lies in the maintenance system, including the feeding system, which has not been implemented properly. To overcome this, assistance, counselling, and practice in formulating and providing rations for pig farmers are conducted. The method used in this activity is participatory counselling, which involves farmers in decision-making and discussion. In this activity, other feed ingredients that are not commonly used are introduced. The feeding does not consider the needs of the animals because only a 5 kg paint can is provided to the pigs in one block of the pen without considering the quantity and needs of the animals. Therefore, feeding according to qualitative and quantitative needs is introduced. The evaluation results of the activities show that the farmers have sufficiently understood the material conveyed because they have provided feed to the pigs being raised according to the quantity and needs, utilizing more agricultural and food industry waste in animal feed.

Abstract

Tea is a drink that has long been known and has experienced a lot of food diversification in producing various types of tea drinks whose raw materials do not come from Camelia sinensis tea leaves but come from flowers, seeds, leaves, roots, fruit peel, and fruit flesh from various This type of plant is also known as herbal tea. The herb has a distinctive aroma, taste, and bioactive components that benefit health. Herbal tea of nutmeg peel has advantages over non-herbal tea, namely that it is effective as a functional drink or can also be used as a refreshing drink for the body. In making tea, a drying process is carried out, which aims to reduce the water content to a specific limit in the raw materials and inhibit microbial growth so that herbal tea can be stored for a long time and is not easily damaged during storage. Several drying methods can be used to make herbal tea, one of which is roasting. The roasting process in making this tea will result in the product experiencing color, texture, and flavor changes. Through this activity, the community's knowledge, skills, and herbal tea products produced can be used as business opportunities
