Abstract

This research explores the use of the story of Prophet Musa and Khidr in Surah Al-Kahfi as an exploratory learning model to enhance students' critical thinking skills and religious understanding. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation involving various stakeholders, including teachers, students, and administrative staff. The validity of the data was ensured through triangulation and member checking, while thematic analysis was utilized to interpret the findings. The study reveals that the integration of the story into the learning process fosters an interactive environment where students engage in critical reflection and discussion. Through guided inquiry and collaborative learning, students develop their analytical skills as they navigate religious concepts in a meaningful context. This process encourages students to draw connections between their faith and personal experiences, thereby enhancing their critical thinking capabilities. The originality of this research lies in its innovative adaptation of a traditional narrative into a modern educational framework, offering insights into the practical application of Qur'anic stories in classrooms. By focusing on the process of learning rather than solely on outcomes, this study contributes to the discourse on value-based education in Islamic settings and demonstrates the potential of story-based learning to cultivate critical thinkers in contemporary education.

Abstract

This research focuses on teachers' challenges in implementing the Merdeka Curriculum in coastal areas, especially at State Senior High School 3 Cilacap, in the context of coastal children's education. The Merdeka Curriculum is an education policy that provides flexibility in learning by optimising local potential and strengthening character. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study design. The data is collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The data collection technique used the triangulation method to ensure the accuracy and richness of the information obtained. Data validity was guaranteed through matching research findings with the reality observed by researchers in the field. Data analysis was conducted using the thematic method, which enabled the researcher to identify key themes from the interviews and documentation. These themes include the main challenges in teachers' understanding of the curriculum, limited educational resources, and efforts to integrate local potential into learning. The results show that implementing the Merdeka Curriculum in coastal areas faces various obstacles, such as low teacher understanding and challenging geographical conditions. However, environment-based programs, such as mangrove planting, have significantly strengthened students' character and ecological awareness. This research confirms the need for close collaboration between schools, government, and communities to overcome teachers' challenges and maximise the benefits of the Merdeka Curriculum in coastal areas.

Abstract

Problems of negative adolescent behaviour, such as violence and delinquency are influenced by internal and external factors. Moral education is considered important in overcoming this problem, but in Indonesia, it tends to be less effective because it focuses more on cognitive aspects than affective ones. KH Ahmad Dahlan's concept of moral education values that emphasise aqidah, sharia, and morals is relevant to overcome this problem. This study aims to describe the practice of the value of moral education of KH Ahmad Dahlan at SMP Muhammadiyah 5 Surakarta examine its impact, and provide solutions to the problem of adolescent morality. This study uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach to understanding the phenomenon of student behaviour. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, passive participation observations, and secondary data. The data analysis used the Miles and Huberman interactive analysis method, which tested its validity through source and time triangulation. The results of this study reveal that KH Ahmad Dahlan's moral education teaches the use of reason based on monotheism to produce good behaviour, with a focus on morality towards Allah, himself, family, society, and the state. Its implementation is through programs such as congregational prayers, counselling, parenting seminars, social services, and flag ceremonies. The impact can be seen in students who are more disciplined, independent, caring, and respectful of the country. KH Ahmad Dahlan's moral education, when applied in schools, is able to suppress the problem of juvenile delinquency, and this method will be effective if accompanied by continuous implementation and supervision.

Abstract

This qualitative phenomenological study examines the role of SD Ulul Albab as an Islamic school in shaping the social identity of urban Muslim communities in Jember. Data were collected through participant observation, semi-structured, and curriculum document analysis. Using Miles' interactive analysis model and triangulation validation, the findings reveal three key aspects: First, Strengthening collective identity through structured programs (Qur’an memorisation, congregational prayers, family-based activities) that foster social cohesion, consistent with Tajfel & Turner's social identity theory regarding the cognitive-evaluative-affective functions of groups; Second, the dialectic between strong religious identity preservation and adaptation challenges in pluralistic societies, demonstrating the complexity of value internalisation according to Ellemers; Third, the potential for exclusivity as a logical consequence of intensive group identity formation, as anticipated in Tajfel's concept of ingroup favouritism. While providing theoretical contributions to understanding Islamic education as a medium for urban identity construction, the single-case study limitation necessitates follow-up comparative and longitudinal research. Practically, these findings recommend an integrative educational model that maintains Islamic distinctiveness while developing multicultural competencies as a response to the challenges of Indonesia's increasingly pluralistic urban society.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe and analyse in depth the innovative efforts made by Islamic Education teachers in fostering and instilling akhlakul karimah in autistic students at Pacitan Special School. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study methodology. Data collection techniques are interviews, observations, and documentation. The main data sources in this study include Islamic Education teachers, principals, and parents of students. The secondary data sources include school documents, scientific literature, and educational regulations related to Islamic education. The data were analysed using the Miles and Huberman approach with a narrative analysis type, namely analysing data in narrative form to understand experiences or perspectives. The results of the study indicate that the efforts of Islamic Education teachers in instilling good morals in autistic students are carried out through four main strategies, namely exemplary behaviour, habituation, supervision, and rewards and reprimands. In addition, the implementation of class trust programs, school agreements, and positive culture also play a role in forming a conducive learning environment. The success of this program is supported by collaboration between teachers, parents, and schools, despite facing challenges such as student learning difficulties and inconsistency in enforcing rules at home. The implications of this research indicate that instilling akhlakul karimah in autistic students cannot be done partially but requires a holistic and collaborative approach.

Abstract

Digital technology has transformed how individuals acquire information, including in religious education. TikTok, one of the most popular social media platforms, is increasingly used as a medium for Islamic Religious Education (PAI). This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of TikTok in enhancing students’ understanding and application of Islamic values during online learning, with a specific focus on content delivered by Ustaz Irfan Rizki Haas. In this context, Although not officially mandated by schools, TikTok functions as a supplementary resource, utilized by teachers and accessed independently by students as part of their online Islamic religious education, Ustaz Irfan Rizki Haas, a well-known digital preacher with over 2.4 million followers. His unique approach to digital da'wah, characterized by engaging storytelling, emotional delivery, and contextual relevance, positions him as a central figure in this study. A descriptive quantitative method was employed, involving an online survey of 100 junior and senior high school students in Indonesia who actively engage with religious content on TikTok, particularly from Ustaz Irfan. The results indicate that 88% of respondents felt more motivated to learn about Islam, 87% reported an improvement in applying Islamic values in daily life, and 85% found themselves better able to distinguish between valid and misleading religious information. While TikTok demonstrates considerable potential as an innovative medium for Islamic learning, concerns remain regarding content credibility. Therefore, the involvement of educators and religious scholars is essential to guide students in critically engaging with accurate religious information. This study highlights TikTok’s role not only as a digital da'wah medium but also as a strategic tool in modern Islamic education, with Ustaz Irfan Rizki Haas serving as an influential role model. Future research is encouraged to explore the long-term impact of TikTok on Islamic religious education among students and to develop systematic content moderation strategies to ensure the quality and integrity of educational content delivered through the platform.
