Abstract

Objective: This study aims to examine the influence of hardiness and self-efficacy on academic burnout among students in Islamic boarding schools. Method: The research involved 140 male and female students in grades 7–9 who live and study in Islamic boarding schools, selected using non-probability accidental sampling from a total population of 180. Data were collected through offline and online questionnaires utilizing the Dispositional Resilience Scale (DRS-15), the General Self-Efficacy Scale, and the School Burnout Inventory (SBI). Results: The results of multiple linear regression analysis indicate that hardiness and self-efficacy together significantly influence academic burnout, with an F-value of 135.865 and p < 0.001. The coefficient of determination (R² = 0.665) suggests that 66.5% of the variance in academic burnout can be explained by the combined influence of these two variables, while the remaining 33.5% is attributed to other factors. Novelty: This study contributes to the literature by highlighting the predictive role of psychological resilience and belief in one's capabilities in reducing academic burnout in a boarding school context, offering insights for the development of targeted psychological interventions within religious educational settings.

Abstract

Objective: This study investigates the impact of time and space constraints in kindergarten settings on children’s autonomy, emotional well-being, and social development. Method: A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining classroom observations (N = 60), teacher interviews (N = 20), and structured surveys (N = 50). Quantitative analyses, including ANOVA, correlation analysis, and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), were conducted to examine the relationships between environmental constraints and developmental outcomes. Results: Findings revealed that 72% of children exhibited signs of frustration due to rigid scheduling, while 74% of teachers identified limited social interaction opportunities as a major concern. Regression analysis indicated that time rigidity significantly predicted increased stress levels in children (β = 0.42, p < 0.05), whereas spatial flexibility was positively associated with peer collaboration (β = 0.52, p < 0.01). Qualitative data supported these results, highlighting teacher concerns about inflexible routines and limited classroom adaptability. Furthermore, children in open-space classrooms engaged in 30% more peer interactions compared to those in traditionally arranged settings. Novelty: This study provides empirical evidence supporting the benefits of flexible time and spatial arrangements in early childhood education. The findings emphasize the importance of child-centered scheduling and dynamic classroom environments in promoting holistic development. Policy recommendations include reducing time rigidity, integrating more child-led activities, and adopting adaptive classroom designs to enhance learning outcomes in early childhood settings.

Abstract

Objective: This systematic review explores the integration of Virtual Reality (VR) technology in early childhood education (ECE) in China, with the aim of identifying its pedagogical impacts, implementation challenges, and ethical considerations. Method: Guided by the PRISMA framework, a comprehensive search was conducted across CNKI, Wanfang, and ScienceNet databases using targeted keywords related to ECE, VR technologies, and preschool-aged children. Eighteen empirical and conceptual studies published between 2019 and 2023 were selected for thematic analysis. Results: Findings reveal that VR enhances children's learning engagement, enriches instructional contexts through immersive simulations, and supports personalized learning paths with real-time feedback. However, challenges include potential risks to visual health, developmental appropriateness of content, and limited teacher preparedness. Ethical concerns such as overreliance on virtual experiences and weakened emotional development were also noted. Novelty: This review contributes novel insights by offering a China-specific synthesis of current VR applications in preschool education, emphasizing the importance of establishing age-specific technical standards, interdisciplinary content development, and policy safeguards. The study calls for a balanced “virtual-reality complementarity” approach to align technological innovation with holistic child development.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to improve the cultural and civic literacy of grade V students through the implementation of educational poster projects as contextual and interesting learning media. The background of this study is the low level of cultural and civic literacy of students, as identified from the initial test results in class V of SDN Krian 2. Most students showed a low understanding of cultural and civic values, which was allegedly caused by the lack of connection between the material and meaningful learning activities. Method: This study used the Kurt Lewin model of Classroom Action Research (PTK) method implemented in two cycles, with the stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 29 fifth grade students. The instrument used was a test to measure the level of cultural and civic literacy before and after the implementation of the action. Result: The results showed a significant increase, from 55.5% in the pre-cycle (poor category), to 78.5% after Cycle I, and increased again to 86% in Cycle II (good category).  Novelty: The novelty in this study lies in the use of educational poster media as a project-based learning approach that is able to improve cultural and civic literacy in grade V students.

Abstract

Objective: In the context of accelerating global educational digitalization, international Chinese education is facing both new opportunities and structural challenges. Among emerging technologies, Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) is reshaping the dynamics of teaching design, learning interaction, and cultural transmission. This study aims to examine the theoretical implications of integrating generative AI into international Chinese language instruction, emphasizing its role not only as a pedagogical tool but also as a cognitive and cultural mediator. Method: Utilizing a qualitative, theory-driven methodology, the research constructs a conceptual framework based on Actor-Network Theory, Inter-subjectivity, and the theory of productive forces. The paper proposes a “technology–culture–education” triadic model to analyze how generative AI redefines teacher-student relationships, cross-cultural dialogues, and knowledge production. Results: Findings suggest that generative AI can personalize learning, enhance linguistic immersion, and promote educational equity across borders, while also challenging traditional power dynamics in classroom discourse and pedagogical agency. Novelty: This work contributes to the theoretical foundation for reimagining smart pedagogy in the field of international Chinese education.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to examine the impact of career development, compensation, and task complexity on employee performance at the Sukorambi Jember Health Center. Method: The research adopts a causal approach, utilizing a quantitative method through surveys conducted with 32 employees, representing the total sample. The independent variables in this study are career development, compensation, and task complexity, while employee performance serves as the dependent variable. Data analysis was performed using multiple linear regression techniques to understand the relationships between these variables. Results: The findings indicate that all three independent variables-career development, compensation, and task complexity-have a significant influence on employee performance. Specifically, career development was found to positively contribute to performance outcomes by enhancing employees' skills and competencies. In addition, fair and adequate compensation was shown to serve as a strong motivator, driving higher levels of work engagement and effort. Similarly, effectively managing task complexity, through proper workload distribution and support, led to improved employee performance. The coefficient of determination (R²) of 65.4% reveals that these independent variables account for a substantial portion of the variation in employee performance, suggesting their importance in shaping overall job outcomes. Novelty: This study offers valuable insights for organizations looking to enhance employee productivity, emphasizing the importance of strategic human resource management practices in fostering a more motivated and efficient workforce. By focusing on career growth opportunities, fair compensation, and task management, organizations can optimize employee performance and contribute to long-term organizational success.

Abstract

Objective: This study examines the cognitive and behavioral impacts of excessive short-form content consumption among university students, focusing on the phenomena of "brain rot" (cognitive decline) and "bed rot" (sedentary digital overuse). Method: This study employs an exploratory literature review method to investigate emerging phenomena related to short-form content consumption and its impacts—such as brain rot, bed rotting, and procrastination—among university students. Unlike systematic literature reviews, which typically focus on more specific research questions, the exploratory approach allows for a broader and more flexible investigation of new concepts in the relatively nascent field of digital media research. Results: Findings indicate that heavy social media use: (1) reduces prefrontal cortex density, impairing attention and memory; (2) decreases academic performance (30% lower information retention, GPA declines); (3) increases procrastination and mental health issues (anxiety, depression); and (4) creates addictive dopamine feedback loops. The "bed rot" phenomenon further exacerbates these effects through physical inactivity and sleep disruption. Novelty: This review is among the first to synthesize neurological, behavioral, and academic evidence into a unified framework, proposing actionable interventions at individual and institutional levels. Our findings highlight the urgent need for digital wellness strategies in higher education.

Abstract

Objective: This study employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach to analyze the impact of dual-role conflict on female employees' performance. Dual-role conflict arises when women are required to balance professional and domestic responsibilities, which often leads to psychological stress, emotional exhaustion, and time management challenges. Method: A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) is conducted to assess various studies related to dual-role conflict and its influence on women's productivity and performance quality. Results: The findings indicate that time-based, strain-based, and behavior-based conflicts significantly affect women’s productivity and performance quality. Key factors contributing to dual-role conflict include high workloads, inflexible work schedules, cultural expectations, traditional family roles, and a lack of support from partners or workplaces. The study highlights strategies to mitigate these conflicts, such as flexible working arrangements, managerial support, employee training on time management, and shared domestic responsibilities within families. Novelty: This research concludes that unresolved dual-role conflict can result in long-term negative effects, such as burnout, decreased job commitment, or career changes. Recommendations are provided for organizations, policymakers, and individuals to implement gender-inclusive policies and develop holistic solutions to address dual-role conflict effectively.
