Abstract

This study discusses the implementation of the National Health Insurance Program (JKN) in improving promotive and preventive services at the Kutalimbaru Health Center in Medan City. The main focus of the study is how the JKN program supports health prevention and promotion efforts through capitation fund management, the role of health workers, and community and cross-sector involvement. Data were obtained through interviews with JKN program holders and patients, and supported by literature studies from various scientific journals. The results of the study indicate that the JKN program has made a positive contribution to strengthening promotive and preventive services, although there are still obstacles such as limited resources, less than optimal community participation, and fund management that needs to be more transparent and efficient. The main recommendations include increasing the capacity of health workers, strengthening cross-sector collaboration, and utilizing information technology to expand the reach of health education. This study emphasizes the importance of integrating promotivepreventive programs in the JKN system to achieve quality and sustainable Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

Abstract

Anemia is a condition where a person's body experiences a decrease or the number of red blood cells in the body is below normal limits. this can occur due to a lack of hemoglobin in the body, thereby affecting the amount of red blood cell production. in indonesia, the incidence of anemia in pregnant women is still quite common. one way to prevent anemia in pregnant women is to consume iron (fe) tablets. however, the compliance of pregnant women in consuming iron tablets is still low, which is caused by various factors such as knowledge and regularity which will later influence the formation of health behavior. The aim of this research is to determine the relationship between knowledge and the regularity of pregnant women consuming iron (FE) tablets at PMB Winanti, S.Tr.Keb. This research is research that uses a cross sectional approach. this research uses a non-probability method, namely sampling with 62 respondents. data analysis used in the research includes univariate analysis and bivariate analysis using the chi-square test. The results of the study showed that the majority of respondents had sufficient knowledge, namely 45.2%, and had a balanced regularity, namely regular 50.0% and irregular 50.0%. this was proven by the chi-square statistical test showing the relationship between knowledge and regularity of pregnant women in consuming iron (fe) tablets with a result of 54.8% obtained a p value of 0.023 (p<0.05). From the results of this study, it was concluded that there was a significant relationship between knowledge and the regularity of pregnant women consuming iron tablets.

Abstract

Universal Health Coverage (UHC) is a health insurance system that ensures that every citizen in the population has fair access to quality promotive, preventive, curative, and rehabilitative health services at affordable costs. The achievement of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) planned in the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN 2020–2024), namely at least 98% of the total population becomes JKN members. The purpose of this study was to determine the Implementation of the National Health Insurance Program in achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and the driving and inhibiting factors for the Implementation of the National Health Insurance Program in achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) which is specifically for the underprivileged in East Lombok Regency. This study uses a descriptive research type, using a qualitative approach. Based on the implementation approach, the four aspects that support the implementation of the program have been running well, but there are still some shortcomings in the communication aspect because there is still a lack of public awareness to realize that this program is indeed targeted at the underprivileged and have not received health insurance, resulting in inaccurate targets, and will actually become a burden on the government with the increase in the budget. The number of East Lombok residents who have JKN is 1,392,488 people (99.16%) of the total population of East Lombok Regency 1,404,343 people so that the UHC target of 98% has been achieved.

Abstract

Smoking is a behavior that is widely found in all levels of society, including at universities. In an effort to improve health status and create a Healthy Campus, Universitas Airlangga inaugurated a Smoking Free Area. This study aims to examine smoking behavior and analyze the implementation of No-Smoking Areas (KTR) at Airlangga University based on the Ottawa Charter health promotion strategy. This research is a case study using a descriptive qualitative approach with several data collections, namely interviews, observation and literature study. If reviewed based on the Ottawa Charter, the implementation of KTR at Universitas Airlangga has been going well. The KTR program at Airlangga University already has a health-oriented public policy, namely Peraturan Rektor Universitas Airlangga Nomor 13 Tahun 2023 Tentang Pedoman Kawasan Tanpa Rokok di Lingkungan Universitas Airlangga. KTR has succeeded in establishing a supportive environment, marked by the prohibition of smoking signs posted at the campus gate and every building. KTR also strengthens community action through the KTR task force from each faculty. To develop personal skills, KTR is also balanced with education and outreach to the task force and the entire academic community. The rearrangement of health services has also been carried out, in which health service facilities and related units have also improved and added smoking-related services to create a Kawasan Tanpa Rokok at Airlangga University. Kawasan Tanpa Rokok is a form of health promotion in an effort to create a Healthy Campus at Airlangga University. The rector's regulation has been promulgated to support its implementation. The results of observations reviewed based on the Ottawa Charter show that there is a link between the implementation of KTR and the available infrastructure, human resources, and policies set at Airlangga University.

Abstract

This study explores the relationship between smoking habits, hemoglobin levels, and awareness of carbon monoxide (CO) risks among street cleaning workers. Smoking is one of the most common sources of CO exposure, which can bind to hemoglobin and reduce oxygen transport in the body. A total of 67 street cleaning workers in West Jakarta were involved in this research, using a descriptive analytic approach. Data were collected through blood tests for hemoglobin levels, as well as interviews and questionnaires to assess smoking habits and knowledge of CO. The findings show that most respondents were light smokers (1–10 cigarettes per day), and 43% had been smoking for less than five years. While 66% of participants had normal hemoglobin levels, 33% had elevated levels, which may reflect the body’s response to reduced oxygen availability. Interestingly, 70% of respondents were aware of the health risks of CO, but knowledge tended to decline among long-term or heavy smokers. This indicates a gap between behavior and risk awareness. The study highlights the need for ongoing health education targeted at outdoor workers to increase understanding of CO exposure and prevent potential health impacts.

Abstract

The nutritional status of toddlers is influenced by various factors, including maternal knowledge and attitudes regarding balanced nutrition. As the primary caregiver, the mother plays a vital role in providing food that aligns with the child's growth and developmental needs. This study aims to analyze the relationship between mothers' level of knowledge and attitudes toward balanced nutrition and the weight gain of toddlers, as well as to compare the differences between control and intervention groups. The study employed a quantitative design with a comparative approach involving two groups: control and intervention. The sample consisted of 40 respondents selected through total sampling. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using the Mann-Whitney U test to determine significant differences between the two independent groups. The results revealed a significant difference between the intervention and control groups in terms of maternal knowledge and attitude scores (p = 0.019). The intervention group demonstrated better levels of knowledge and more positive attitudes, which were associated with more optimal toddler weight gain. There is a relationship between maternal knowledge and attitudes toward balanced nutrition and toddler weight gain. Nutrition education interventions have proven to be effective in increasing knowledge and fostering positive maternal attitudes, making them a viable strategy for improving children's nutritional status.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic condition characterized by increased blood glucose levels that require long-term treatment to maintain stable blood sugar levels. Garlic and turmeric rhizomes are known to contain secondary metabolite compounds that have the potential to lower blood glucose levels. This study aims to see how the combination of garlic and turmeric rhizome extracts affects the histopathological picture of the pancreas of male white rats (DM). This study uses an experimental design method with a designposttest only control group involving 30 white male rats divided into five groups: Negative control (K-), positive control (K+), and three treatment groups with extract doses of 100mg/kgBW (F1), 200mg/kgBW (F2), and 300mg/kgBW (F3). The results showed the most significant decrease in blood glucose levels in the 300mg/kgBW group (F3), namely (105mg/kgBW). The histopathological picture of the pancreas showed severe damage in group F1 (75% had necrosis), and moderate damage (50% with necrosis) in F2 and F3. The combination of garlic extract and turmeric rhizome has the potential to reduce blood glucose levels and improve the histopathological picture of the pancreas in DM rats.
