Abstract

The use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by health workers is very important in preventing the transmission of infections, especially in the Central Surgical Installation (IBS) room which has a high risk. Anesthesia organizers are health workers who are vulnerable to exposure to infection because they often perform actions that are in direct contact with the patient's body fluids. The purpose of this study was to identify the characteristics of the level of compliance of anesthesiologists in the use of PPE based on gender, age, education level and length of work in hospitals in the Cilacap Regency Region. This study is quantitative descriptive with a cross dectional approach. The research population is 38 respondents, the focus of observation in this study is an overview of the compliance of anesthesiologists in the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in Cilacap Regency. This study showed compliance in the use of PPE with the compliant category as many as 24 respondents (63.2%), less compliant as many as 11 respondents (28.9%), while non-compliance as many as 3 respondents (7.9%). The results of this study show that there is compliance, lack of compliance, and non-compliance with anesthesia surgeons in Cilacap Regency.

Abstract

The Chronic Disease Management Program (Prolanis) is a healthcare service program aimed at improving the quality of life of individuals with chronic diseases. Fiber intake plays a crucial role in maintaining optimal nutritional status, especially for individuals with diabetes and hypertension, who are the main targets of Prolanis. This study aims to examine the relationship between fiber intake and nutritional status among Prolanis participants at Kedaton Community Health Center (Puskesmas Kedaton). The research employed a descriptive-analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 60 respondents were selected using purposive sampling. Fiber intake data were obtained through a 2x24-hour food recall, while nutritional status was determined using Body Mass Index (BMI) measurements. Data analysis was conducted using the Chi-square test. The results showed that nearly half of the Prolanis participants had inadequate fiber intake (47.6%) and excessive nutritional status (50%). Statistical tests revealed a significant relationship between fiber intake and nutritional status (p = 0.005). Strengthening nutrition education for Prolanis participants is necessary, particularly regarding the importance of daily fiber consumption as part of chronic disease management and nutritional status maintenance to help control body weight and improve nutritional outcomes.

Abstract

Smoking is one of the most common behaviors among adolescents, especially in Indonesia. This habit not only impacts on individual health, but also has far-reaching social and economic consequences. Smoking is a national problem that is difficult to solve where this activity is still often carried out by many people. Although it is often written in newspapers, magazines and the mass world stating the dangers of smoking, in fact some people still smoke frequently. According to data from the Ministry of Health, the prevalence of smoking among Indonesian adolescents has shown an alarming increase in recent years. In terms of health smoking should be stopped, because it can cause lung cancer and blockage of blood vessels that can cause death. Cigarettes consist of more than 4000 chemicals of which one of the main elements is nicotine. Nicotine can increase adrenaline secretion in the adrenal cortex which promotes an increase in serum acid concentration. The smoke produced from plants Nicotiana tobacum, Nicotiana rustica and other species or synthetics whose smoke contains nicotine which is addictive and not carcinogenic.addiction as a disease of free will. Where smoking is a voluntary behavior that makes a person feel addicted. But with the dangers of smoking that have been mentioned until now there are no policies and regulations governing age limits for cigarette buyers in Indonesia which causes elementary school children to be free to buy cigarettes at outlets or in stores.

Abstract

Free radicals are reactive compounds that can cause damage to cells, enzymes, lipids, and even DNA, thus triggering various degenerative diseases. Antioxidants neutralize free radicals and prevent oxidative damage. Chinese betel herb (Peperomia pellucida L.) is known to contain phenol and flavonoid secondary metabolite compounds that act as natural antioxidants. This study aims to test the antioxidant activity of ethanol extract of Chinese betel herb with DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) method. Extraction was done by maceration method using 80% ethanol solvent. Antioxidant activity was tested by reacting the extract against DPPH solution and measuring the absorbance using UV-Vis spectrophotometry. The results showed an IC₅₀ value of 32.97 ppm, which is classified as very strong antioxidant activity. These results indicate that ethanol extract of Chinese betel herb has great potential as a source of natural antioxidants.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between self-esteem and fear of missing out (FoMO) among mothers in West Sumatra. FoMO is characterized by anxiety or fear of missing important experiences, especially those seen on social media. A total of 385 mothers aged 18–40 who actively use social media participated in this study. Using a quantitative correlational method and purposive sampling, data were analyzed through Pearson Product-Moment correlation. The results showed a significant negative relationship between self-esteem and FoMO (r = -0.622, p < 0.05). These findings suggest that mothers with lower self-esteem are more prone to FoMO. The study highlights the importance of self-perception in the digital age and provides practical implications for mental well-being among adult women.

Abstract

Hypertension is a significant health issue in Indonesia, frequently referred to as a silent killer due to its asymptomatic nature.  Hypertension complications may result in damage to essential organs, including the heart, brain, and kidneys, potentially culminating in chronic kidney failure (CKD).  The therapy of hypertension and renal failure requires appropriate pharmacological intervention to avert complications and enhance patient quality of life.  This research seeks to identify medications often prescribed to patients with hypertension and renal failure, ascertain the prevalence of concurrent illnesses, and assess potential drug interactions in prescriptions at Rasyida Hospital Medan from October to December 2023. The research used a descriptive methodology via an analysis of patient prescriptions.  The study's findings indicated the use of diverse combinations of antihypertensive medications and renal failure treatment, along with the possibility of drug interactions in multiple patient prescriptions.  The results underscore the need of prescription screening and monitoring for drug interactions within clinical pharmacy services to mitigate the risk of medication mistakes and enhance the safety and efficacy of treatment in patients with hypertension and renal failure.

Abstract

Oxidative stress is a condition resulting from an imbalance between free radicals and the body's antioxidant system, which can damage cells and trigger degenerative diseases such as diabetes, cancer, atherosclerosis and heart disease. Antioxidants play an important role in neutralizing free radicals to prevent cell damage. Papaya leaves (Carica papaya L.) are known to contain bioactive compounds that have potential as a source of natural antioxidants. This study aims to test the antioxidant activity of papaya leaf ethanol extract using the DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) method, with quercetin as a comparator. Extraction was done by maceration using 80% ethanol. Antioxidant activity was measured based on the decrease in absorbance of DPPH solution at a wavelength of 517 nm using UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The results showed that papaya leaf extract had strong antioxidant activity with IC₅₀ value of 21.35 ppm, while quercetin was 4.84 ppm. Thus, the ethanol extract of papaya leaves showed high potential as an effective natural antioxidant.

Abstract

This literature review explores holistic approaches during pregnancy and their implications for midwifery practice. Holistic care addresses physical, psychological, social, and spiritual dimensions of maternal health, aiming to promote overall well-being and positive pregnancy outcomes. By synthesizing evidence from studies published between 2020 and 2025, this review highlights the benefits of integrating holistic methods such as stress reduction techniques, nutritional support, psychosocial counseling, and culturally sensitive care within midwifery. The findings suggest that holistic care enhances emotional resilience, reduces anxiety and depression, and strengthens the mother infant bond. However, challenges remain in standardizing holistic practices, ensuring adequate training for midwives, and overcoming systemic barriers. The review underscores the need for midwives to adopt a comprehensive, woman centered approach supported by ongoing education and interdisciplinary collaboration. Future research should focus on evaluating holistic interventions’ effectiveness and developing scalable models to improve maternal and neonatal outcomes globally. Ultimately, holistic pregnancy care offers a promising framework to enrich midwifery practice and support maternal well-being throughout pregnancy.
