Abstract

Team-Based Learning (TBL) is an active learning method that can be used to enhance behaviors promoting adolescent reproductive health. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the Team-Based Learning method in improving the determinants of reproductive health-promoting behaviors among adolescents in Islamic boarding schools in the Aceh Besar Regency. A quasi-experimental design with a comparative quantitative approach was employed. The sample consisted of 110 female adolescents aged 15–19 years, evenly divided into intervention and control groups. The intervention group received four TBL sessions over two weeks, while the control group did not receive the TBL intervention during the study period. Data were collected using self-report questionnaires and analyzed using the Wilcoxon test via the R program. The results showed significant improvements (p<0.05) in the intervention group's scores following the TBL intervention across various factors: personal factors, perceived benefits, perceived barriers, self-efficacy, appreciation, interpersonal influences, situational influences, interest, commitment to a plan of action, individual strength, empowerment, participation, control, genital hygiene practices, management of menstrual issues, and detection of genital diseases. Thus, TBL proved effective in enhancing the determinants of reproductive health-promoting behaviors among adolescents in Islamic boarding schools and is recommended as a health education method for adolescents.

Abstract

The preliminary study conducted by the researcher at the ILP Integrated Health Post (Posyandu) in Lueng Daneun Village, the researcher interviewed ten elderly people, seven out of ten respondents paid less attention to personal hygiene, such as not washing their hands before eating, then consuming less vegetables and fruit every day, then less physical activity in daily life. This study aims to describe the knowledge of Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) in the elderly. The quantitative descriptive method uses a cross-sectional approach design. The population and sample were 120 elderly with an age category above 60 years, and the data analysis used was univariate analysis (descriptive analysis). The level of PHBS knowledge of most elderly people is in the less category as much as 62.5%. The data shows that half of the elderly have had at least 3 of the 7 PHBS indicators used in this study. Health promotion programs related to PHBS can be implemented by developing health-oriented development policies, empowering communities, improving family skills regarding PHBS, bringing health services and health education closer so that people can more easily obtain health information.

Abstract

Abstract

Vaginal discharge is one of the reproductive health problems frequently experienced by women of reproductive age (WRA), particularly when accompanied by changes in color, odor, itching, or other complaints. Basil leaves (Ocimum basilicum) contain bioactive compounds such as flavonoids, saponins, tannins, eugenol, and essential oils, which have been associated in previous studies with antibacterial, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory activities. This study aimed to determine the effect of basil leaf decoction on vaginal discharge among WRA at TPMB Midwife L, Cikampek, in 2026. The study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design. The population consisted of 32 WRA experiencing vaginal discharge, and 30 respondents were selected using purposive sampling. The intervention consisted of 10 grams of basil leaves boiled in 500 mL of water and applied externally to the outer genitalia/vulva twice daily, in the morning and afternoon, for seven days. Measurements were conducted using a questionnaire/observation sheet before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed using the Shapiro-Wilk test and Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The mean vaginal discharge score decreased from 1.57 (SD 0.504) to 1.23 (SD 0.430). The Wilcoxon test produced p=0.000 (<0.05). Therefore, there was a significant difference in vaginal discharge before and after the intervention.

Abstract

Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) is one of the common health problems among toddlers. Symptoms such as cough and respiratory discomfort may affect children's comfort and health status. One non-pharmacological supportive approach is the administration of lime juice combined with sweet soy sauce. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of lime and soy sauce administration in reducing ARI symptoms among toddlers in the working area of Koncara Public Health Center in 2026. A quasi-experimental pretest-posttest design involving an intervention group and a control group was used. The sample consisted of 40 toddlers, including 20 respondents in the intervention group and 20 respondents in the control group. ARI symptoms were assessed using an observation sheet. Data were analyzed descriptively and statistically using the Shapiro-Wilk, Wilcoxon, and Mann-Whitney tests at a significance level of p<0.05. The mean ARI symptom score in the intervention group decreased from 2.40±0.503 before intervention to 1.60±0.754 after intervention, with a mean reduction of 0.80 and p=0.000. In the control group, the mean score decreased from 2.30±0.470 to 1.85±0.813, with a mean reduction of 0.45 and p=0.020. The comparison of changes between groups showed a significant difference with p<0.001. The administration of lime and soy sauce was effective as a supportive intervention for reducing ARI symptoms among toddlers in this study. Its use should consider the child's clinical condition and should not replace assessment or treatment by health professionals.

Abstract

Excessive and prolonged labor pain can lead to anxiety, psychological distress, labor complications, and even maternal and neonatal mortality. Therefore, it is necessary to manage labor pain using non-pharmacological methods, such as endorphin massage. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of endorphin massage in reducing labor pain during the active phase of the first stage of labor among women giving birth at PMB E Mustika Jaya, Bekasi. This study employed a quasi-experimental method with a one-group pre-test/post-test design, involving a sample of 30 women in the first stage of labor. The Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) was used to measure pain intensity before and after endorphin massage. Data analysis was conducted using the non-parametric Wilcoxon Signed-Rank test. The analysis yielded a p-value of <0.01 (indicating a value below the 0.05 threshold). Consequently, the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted; the mean scores were 5.73 for the pre-test and 3.97 for the post-test, indicating a reduction in pain. The study concludes that endorphin massage is effective in reducing pain intensity during the active phase of the first stage of labor.

Abstract

Dental and oral health maintenance behavior is one of the factors in the occurrence of periodontal disease in people with mellitus diabetes. This is because diabetes mellitus sufferers have the habit of rarely cleaning their oral cavity, such as brushing their teeth twice a day and cleaning tartar. They prefer other alternatives to clean their teeth and mouth, such as gargling with mouthwash to avoid inflammation or bleeding of the gums. For this reason, research was conducted to determine the relationship between dental and oral health maintenance behavior among people suffering from diabetes mellitus and periodontal disease at the Ulee Kareng Community Health Center. This type of research is cross sectional. This research was carried out for 2 weeks with a population of all patients who visited and suffered from diabetes mellitus. The sample consisted of 30 people and used the accidental sampling method. Data collection was obtained using observation sheets and filling out questionnaires. The analysis used is the Chi-Square test statistical analysis. Results: There is no significant relationship between the oral health maintenance behavior of people with diabetes mellitus and periodontal disease (Sig/Pvalue=1.000). Conclusion: There is no relationship between dental and oral health maintenance behavior in people with diabetes and periodontal disease mellitus.
