Abstract

The degradation of academic integrity in elementary schools demands a character education approach that touches students' consciousness rather than merely memorizing rules. This study aims to describe the trans-internalization process of honesty values through storytelling within Indonesian language learning. Adopting a qualitative approach with a case study design, this research involved the third-grade homeroom teacher at SDN Waung as the primary subject. Data were collected through participant observation, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis, then validated using source and technique triangulation. Data analysis was conducted referring to the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña interactive model which includes data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that storytelling successfully integrates three character dimensions simultaneously: cognitive transformation (moral knowing), which concretizes abstract honesty concepts; affective transaction (moral feeling), which fosters empathy and a sense of shame regarding cheating; and behavioral trans-internalization (moral acting), evidenced by a drastic decrease in cheating and increased courage to admit mistakes, replacing fear-based compliance with internal awareness. It is concluded that narrative stories effectively transform cognitive understanding into tangible moral actions by lowering student resistance to moral messages. Theoretically, this study confirms the role of storytelling in reconstructing moral behavior through vicarious learning and narrative transportation mechanisms. Practically, it offers a pedagogical model for teachers to instill character traits enjoyably without rigid indoctrination, whilst simultaneously positioning language learning as a dual strategic vehicle for developing both literacy and student moral integrity.

Abstract

The Aqidah Akhlak subject plays an important role in shaping students’ character through strengthening faith and fostering the habituation of noble morals in daily life. However, many students experience difficulties in understanding Aqidah concepts and applying moral values, resulting in learning outcomes that have not yet met the Minimum Mastery Criteria (MMC). This condition is influenced by instructional practices that tend to be theoretical and are not sufficiently supported by engaging and interactive learning media. Therefore, this study aims to examine the effect of using Explainer video as an interactive learning medium on students’ learning outcomes in the Aqidah Akhlak subject for eighth-grade students at MTs Negeri 4 Madiun, East Java, in the 2025–2026 academic year. This study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The population consisted of all eighth-grade students, with a sample of 50 students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through learning outcome tests supported by interviews and documentation. Data analysis included tests of validity, reliability, normality, and homogeneity, as well as hypothesis testing using an independent samples t-test with the assistance of SPSS version 25. The results showed a significant difference between the experimental and control classes, with a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000 (< 0.05). The mean post-test score of the experimental class was 96.08 ± 2.857, while that of the control class was 81.12 ± 3.206. The improvement in the experimental class was also evident from the increase in the mean score from 58.56 in the pre-test to 91.24 in the post-test, while the control class improved from 65.24 to 81.12. These findings indicate that the use of Explainer video as a learning medium has a positive and significant effect on students’ learning outcomes in the Aqidah Akhlak subject.

Abstract

The stagnation of critical thinking skills in elementary school students is often rooted in the gap between abstract mathematics curricula and the cognitive characteristics of students who are still in the concrete operational stage. Conventional teacher-centered methods exacerbate this condition, rendering students passive. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model using contextual problems to strengthen students' mathematical critical thinking skills. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, the research was conducted at SDN Cemengkalang with Grade III students as subjects. Data were collected through participant observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using triangulation techniques. The results demonstrate that integrating real objects (such as wall clocks and floor tiles) within PBL stages effectively bridges students' thinking from concrete to abstract phases. Specifically, the focus indicator improved sharply as students became capable of filtering essential data from complex narrative problems. In the reasoning aspect, group discussion interactions encouraged students to shift from merely providing short answers to constructing evidence-based causal explanations regarding geometric properties. Meanwhile, inference skills were formed through independent conclusion-drawing, which was refined through iterative reflection processes. It is concluded that PBL successfully transforms students' roles from passive receivers into active knowledge constructors. Theoretically, these findings reinforce social constructivism theory, while practically recommending visual contextual problems as the primary scaffolding in lower-grade classes.

Abstract

The academic demands often experienced by college students and a sedentary lifestyle that is not balanced with physical activity affect their psychological well-being, such as a decrease in happiness levels. This study aims to determine physical activity as one of the predictors of happiness among college students, moderated by gender. A non-experimental quantitative method was chosen as the research method, with a cross-sectional design. The total of research respondents was 230 college students selected through purposive sampling. The measurement tools used were the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) for physical activity variables and the Oxford Happiness Questionnaire to measure happiness, both of which have been proven to be valid and reliable. Data analysis techniques used Multiple Regression Analysis (MRA) through JASP 0.95.2 software. Physical activity was found to have a positive effect on college student happiness (? = 0.208; p < 0.01), and gender was able to moderate the relationship between physical activity and happiness (? interaction = 0.556; p < 0.01), with a stronger effect on female college students than male college students. The results of this study contribute theoretically to the understanding of physical activity factors that can affect subjective well-being among college students, while also providing practical implications for further promoting healthy lifestyles through physical activity in higher education institutions, with consideration given to gender.

Abstract

Teacher performance constitutes a primary determinant of educational quality; however, variations across schools indicate the need to identify the most influential organizational and instructional factors. This study aims to analyze the influence of transformational leadership and learning effectiveness on teacher performance, with work motivation serving as a mediating variable, at public senior high schools under Branch Office XI in Garut Regency. A quantitative approach with a correlational–explanatory design was employed. The sample consisted of 93 teachers selected through proportionate stratified random sampling. Data were collected using structured questionnaires and analyzed through Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The findings reveal that learning effectiveness has a positive and significant effect on teacher performance (? = 0.726; p < 0.001) and work motivation (? = 0.689; p < 0.001). Work motivation significantly affects teacher performance (? = 0.195; p = 0.010) and partially mediates the relationship between learning effectiveness and teacher performance. In contrast, transformational leadership does not exert a significant effect on either work motivation or teacher performance within the sampled context. The model demonstrates strong predictive power for teacher performance (R² = 0.834). These results suggest that strengthening effective instructional practices and motivation-enhancement strategies plays a more decisive role than leadership style alone in improving teacher performance. The study is limited by its cross-sectional design, reliance on self-reported data, and focus on a single regional context; therefore, generalization should be undertaken with caution.

Abstract

The low understanding of the fifth graders of cultural heritage materials is caused by the low interest, motivation, and literacy of students, which has an impact on learning outcomes. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to determine the influence of the Team Games Tournament learning model assisted by “Engklek Games” on the learning outcomes of the fifth graders on cultural heritage materials. This study uses a quasi-experimental research type and a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The research population amounted to 59 students in the fifth grade including 32 students of SDN Langgenharjo 01 as an experimental class and 27 students of SDN Bakaran Kulon 03 as a control class. Total sampling was used for sampling in this study. Data collection techniques include learning outcome tests and student activity observation sheets, while data analysis uses normality tests, homogeneity tests, t-tests, and n-gain tests. The results of the study showed (sig. 0.000 < 0.05) that the application of the Team Games Tournament learning model assisted by “Engklek Games” had a significant effect on learning outcomes in cultural heritage materials. The average n-gain of the experimental class was 0.7392 > 0.5909 of the control class, which showed that the improvement of learning outcomes was more optimal in the experimental class. In addition, student learning activities are in the very active category. Based on the analysis carried out, the Team Games Tournament learning model assisted by “Engklek Games” has proven to be effective in improving student learning outcomes.

Abstract

This research aimed to develop, validate, and test the effectiveness of pop-up book integrated with augmented reality (AR) technology for teaching Earth structure concepts in 5th-grade students. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The participant group consisted of 30 fifth-grade students at SDN Bandungan 01, Kabupaten Semarang. Data collection involved validation questionnaires from subject matter experts and media experts, teacher and student response questionnaires, and pretest-posttest assessments. Results indicated that the developed media received very favorable validation ratings from subject matter experts (90%) and media experts (97%). Both teachers (100%) and students (92%) provided highly positive feedback regarding the media’s usability and attractiveness. Statistical analysis using paired sample t-tests revealed a significant difference in student learning outcomes (p = 0.000 < 0.05), with mean scores improving from 53.97 (pretest) to 79.72 (posttest), representing a moderate effect size (N-Gain = 0.55). These findings suggest that pop-up book integrated with augmented reality technology is an effective and viable instructional tool for enhancing student comprehension of complex abstract concepts in earth structure.

Abstract

This study describes the implementation of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) through a historical song video clip project and its contribution to strengthening students’ collaborative skills at SMA Negeri 7 Purworejo. The research employed a qualitative descriptive design involving 12th-grade science students. Data were collected through classroom observations conducted during the project implementation, semi-structured interviews with the history teacher and several actively involved students selected purposively, and documentation of students’ video products. The analysis was carried out using thematic coding based on a collaborative skills framework comprising five dimensions: negotiation, advocacy, cooperation, communication, and conflict management. The findings indicate that the project-based activities created opportunities for students to engage in shared decision-making, distribute responsibilities, articulate ideas, and manage differences constructively during the video production process. These results suggest that creative digital projects within a structured PjBL framework can meaningfully support the development of collaborative competencies. The study also highlights the role of teacher facilitation and institutional support in sustaining collaborative learning practices in secondary education settings.

Abstract

This research aims to develop a web-based trigonometry learning medium using a mindful learning approach for Grade X students at SMK Hang Tuah Kediri. The study analyzes the feasibility, practicality, and effectiveness of the medium in supporting student learning outcomes. The method employed is Research and Development (R&D), adapting the ADDIE model. The research stages include needs analysis, design, product development, expert validation, and field testing with 17 Grade X students. Validation results showed a very high level of validity with a Gregory coefficient of 1.00. The medium was declared feasible without substantial revision as the material structure aligns with the Learning Path Objectives at SMK Hang Tuah Kediri. The depth of the material was considered highly relevant to basic competency indicators, achieving a perfect score in both content and construction aspects. In terms of practicality, student and teacher responses reached an average of 91.82%, categorized as highly practical. Meanwhile, the effectiveness of the medium, based on learning evaluation results, showed an average N-Gain value of 49.41%. This value falls within the 40–59% range, categorized as moderately effective. Pedagogically, this achievement indicates that the medium is capable of facilitating the transition of students' understanding of trigonometric concepts from basic to complex levels, although teacher guidance remains necessary for optimal results.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of instructional strategies and the availability of educational technology on learning effectiveness through student engagement in Vocational Training Institutions in Karawang Regency, Indonesia. The research addresses a gap in the non-formal education literature by elucidating the mediating mechanism of student engagement within an integrated structural model. An explanatory quantitative approach was employed using a cross-sectional design. Data were analyzed through Structural Equation Modeling based on Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The sample consisted of 185 teachers selected through proportional random sampling from a population of 208 teachers. The findings indicate that instructional strategies significantly influence learning effectiveness (? = 0.562; p < 0.001) and student engagement (? = 0.410; p < 0.001). The availability of educational technology also significantly affects learning effectiveness (? = 0.429; p < 0.001) and student engagement (? = 0.408; p < 0.001). Furthermore, student engagement has a significant positive effect on learning effectiveness (? = 0.408; p < 0.001). The R² value demonstrates that the model explains 66.5% of the variance in learning effectiveness. Mediation analysis confirms that student engagement partially mediates the relationship between both exogenous variables and learning effectiveness. These findings highlight that improving learning effectiveness in vocational training institutions depends not only on instructional strategies and technological availability but also on their capacity to foster active student engagement.
