Abstract

This study examines how students’ learning motivation in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) changes during the implementation of the Independent Curriculum at SMP Negeri 1 Jati Agung. In the field of Islamic education, this study examines how students’ motivation increases when the learning process becomes more active, flexible, and student-centered. This study aims to explain how students’ motivation changes., identify the factors that support and hinder motivation, and provide both theoretical and practical insights for developing adaptive PAI learning strategies. This study uses a qualitative approach, with data gathered through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s steps of data reduction, data display, and verification. The findings indicate that students’ learning motivation increased progressively: initially passive during the adjustment phase, students gradually became more confident, participative, and enthusiastic in class discussions and learning activities. This increase was shaped by internal factors like interest, curiosity, and independence, as well as external factors such as the teacher’s teaching methods, creative learning media, school environment, peer influence, and parental support. Challenges such as low discipline, limited facilities, and variations in students’ religious competence were still present; however, these were mitigated through teacher guidance, communication with parents, and strengthened religious programs. This study helps improve PAI teaching practices by highlighting the importance of using diverse and meaningful learning strategies. The results show that the Independent Curriculum can effectively increase students’ motivation in PAI when it is supported by creative teaching methods and a supportive learning environment.

Abstract

The development of the property industry, particularly apartments, presents opportunities and challenges regarding consumer legal protection. Consumers who purchase apartment units often face issues related to information transparency, unclear agreements, delays in handover, and substandard building quality. This study aims to analyse legal protection for apartment buyers in the Indonesian legal system through legislative instruments such as the Consumer Protection Law, the Civil Code, and specific regulations on housing and residential areas. The research method used is a normative juridical approach that examines positive legal provisions, doctrines, and judicial practices. The study results show that legal protection for apartment buyers has been regulated in a normative manner. However, its implementation still faces various obstacles, especially regarding law enforcement and the certainty of consumer rights. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen regulations, increase government supervision, and raise legal awareness among business actors to uphold the principles of justice, certainty, and consumer benefits.

Abstract

Ideally, Islamic Religious Education (IRE) should develop students’ analytical thinking skills at the C4 cognitive level. However, the learning process at SMA Negeri 1 Abung Semuli is still dominated by monotonous lecturing, resulting in low student engagement, difficulty in analyzing religious concepts, and an inability to relate the material to real-life contexts. This situation leads to low learning outcomes, particularly on tasks that require analytical skills. Based on these issues, this study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Make-a-Match type of Cooperative Learning in improving PAI learning outcomes, specifically in the C4 cognitive domain. The study employed a quantitative approach with involving two Grade X classes: an experimental class that received the Make-a-Match treatment and a control class that was taught using conventional methods. The learning outcome test instrument consisted of 15 questions that were validated and tested for reliability, and subsequently used in both pre-tests and post-tests. Data were analyzed using normality and homogeneity tests, Mann–Whitney, and independent t-tests according to the data distribution characteristics. The results indicated a significant difference between the experimental and control classes. The Mann–Whitney test yielded a significance value of 0.012, while the independent t-test yielded 0.013 (< 0.05), indicating that the Make-a-Match model has a positive effect on improving students’ learning outcomes. The card-matching activities encouraged students to analyze, compare concepts, and identify material relationships more critically, thereby enhancing C4-level abilities. In conclusion, the Make-a-Match type of Cooperative Learning is effective in improving PAI learning outcomes, particularly students’ analytical skills. This model is recommended as an innovative and interactive instructional strategy to enhance the quality of PAI learning in senior high schools

Abstract

This journal article discusses the distinction between bid'ah (innovation) and local culture from the perspective of the Qur'an and Sunnah. This study was motivated by the interaction between Islam and various local cultures, which often raises questions about their compatibility with Islamic teachings, where there are concerns that local traditions may obscure the purity of the teachings. The method used is qualitative with a thematic (maudhu'i) analysis approach to verses of the Qur'an and Hadith, as well as a literature study of the views of scholars. This study finds that bid'ah, which is essentially an innovation in worship that has no shar'i basis, is firmly rejected based on the principle of the perfection of Islam. Meanwhile, local culture ('urf) can be accommodated as long as it does not conflict with the principles of tawhid, sharia values, and qath'i arguments, and contains benefits. The distinction between bid'ah and tradition is not just a matter of terminology, but concerns a way of religious thinking that determines whether the ummah will be inclusive or exclusive towards social reality. By examining the arguments from the Qur'an and Hadith and understanding maq??id al-syar?‘ah, it appears that cultural innovations can be accepted in Islam if they fulfill the conditions of maslahat and do not violate sharia.

Abstract

This study aims to examine in depth the dynamics of the role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in instilling religious tolerance in students at SMAN 01 Liwa. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, this study explores learning strategies, forms of interfaith collaboration, and the challenges teachers face in practice. The research findings reveal that PAI teachers play a central role as educators, mentors, and facilitators of interfaith dialogue. Key strategies used include integrating tolerance values into course materials, collaborating with teachers of other religions, and organizing interfaith community service activities involving all students. Challenges include the influence of social media, students' low understanding of tolerance, and differences in family education patterns. Overall, the instillation of tolerance at SMAN 01 Liwa is effective through a collaborative approach and direct social experience.

Abstract

The 2024 Indonesian general election, held on February 14, 2024, featured significant political shifts, particularly in the province of Bali. Historically, Bali has been a stronghold for the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), which has consistently supported its candidates in legislative and presidential elections since the introduction of direct elections in 2004. However, a surprising change emerged in 2024: although the PDI-P remained dominant in the legislative elections, its presidential candidate lost to the Prabowo-Gibran ticket. This study analyzes the factors behind voters' split-ticket voting behavior, which deviates from the usual voting patterns in Bali. Using four theoretical frameworks sociological theory, party identification (non-rational approach), expectation conflict, and checks and balances (rational approach) this research employs quantitative methods and logistic regression analysis with the backward Wald method to assess voter behavior. The findings indicate that sociological variables, particularly place of residence, education level, and gender, along with party identification, significantly influence split ticket voting. On the other hand, rational choice theory does not show a significant effect. These results indicate that non-rational factors remain more influential in shaping electoral decisions in Bali, challenging the application of rational choice theory in the Indonesian electoral context. This study suggests the need for alternative or expanded theoretical models to better capture the complexity of voter behavior in future Indonesian elections.

Abstract

The digital public sphere is currently experiencing a serious pathology characterized by massive disinformation, polarization, and degradation of communication ethics, transforming it from an arena of rational dialogue into a toxic “echo chamber.” Conventional media literacy approaches that are technical and secular in nature are considered inadequate to address this crisis of values. This article aims to formulate a conceptual framework for alternative media literacy rooted in the transcendental values of the Qur'an as a fundamental solution. This study uses a qualitative method with a library research design, dialoguing the classical doctrine of Amar Ma'ruf Nahi Munkar with the reality of contemporary cyber communication. The results of the study show that Amar Ma'ruf Nahi Munkar needs to be re-actualized from a normative theological doctrine into an adaptive “cyber activism” strategy for digital algorithm structures. The main finding of this study is the construction of a “Quran-based Media Literacy” model, which integrates the spirit of Amar Ma'ruf Nahi Munkar as the spirit for basic media competence; where intention management becomes the basis for accessing information, the tabayyun mechanism becomes the basis for critical analysis, and qaulan sadidan ethics become the basis for content participation. This model shifts the literacy paradigm from merely producing cognitively intelligent netizens to netizens who possess digital piety.

Abstract

The discussion of symbolic interaction emphasizes more on the motives underlying human actions. Symbolic interaction states that all human actions are based on two motives, namely the motive for (in order to motive) and the motive because (because to motive). Both motives are in the mind of a person who does the act and no one else knows. In Islam, this motive can be called the intention that underlies the act. This intention is important because it is the cause of the acceptance or rejection of an action. Therefore, it is necessary to critique this theory from the perspective of Islamic communication. The results of the criticism of this theory from an Islamic perspective are, first, behavior must be carried out with good motives and intended because of God as the owner of power. Although sometimes in life, there are also many motivations for human behavior that are for other than God. Second, human behavior is not entirely born of his will, but there is also God's will in it. Third, Islam recommends that confirmation be carried out to see the motives of actions.
