Abstract

Abstract. The mastery of lexical information is a constant struggle when studying English. It is not considered that having a large lexical knowledge or vocabulary is one of the conditions for being able to communicate smoothly in the language. Each student may have a different method for increasing their vocabulary. As a result, the purpose of this study is to learn about the tactics utilized by EFL students at one of Bandar Lampung's private universities. The study will also illustrate the frequency with which each method is employed by EFL students. The data for this study was collected via a distributed questionnaire and presented using a quantitative technique. This study enlisted the participation of 30 students from a private university in Bandar Lampung. The metacognitive method was shown to be the most frequently used strategy in acquiring English vocabulary, whereas the memory strategy was found to be the least frequently employed. Students typically prefer to watch English TV episodes or movies and observe their blunders as a technique to learn a new English language in specific actions. As shown in the findings of this study, certain tactics are less popular among students and should be offered since they will help students find the best way to acquire new vocabulary and eventually help them become independent learners.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the forms of violence experienced by children at home and how parents understand violence. The research methodology used is quantitative through a survey approach. Research participants consisted of children (12-17 years old) and parents. Data collection techniques used are online surveys and interviews. The online survey was conducted for all participants consisting of 50 children and 50 parents. Meanwhile, the interviews were only conducted with a sample of parents. All respondents agreed to participate in this study through a verbal consent form. The data analysis technique used is descriptive statistics and qualitative descriptive. The findings of this study indicate that 1) parents still tend to commit various forms of violence against children such as physical violence, verbal violence, emotional violence, and neglect. This violent behavior is carried out for various reasons, both consciously and unconsciously. 2) Parents tend to understand that violence only consists of physical violence and verbal violence. 3) there is a relationship between parents' lack of understanding about violence and the potential for violence perpetrated by parents against children. This study also recommends that it is important to conduct interventions for parents that focus on increasing parents' understanding of the types of violence and the negative impacts caused as a form of preventing domestic violence.

Abstract

This research investigates the factors of students' self-regulated learning (SRL) skills in online learning environments from the demographic perspectives of gender and major. The study employs a survey design and involves 103 students selected through simple random sampling. Data collection uses the SOL-Q questionnaire and observation. The collected data is analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-tests, and one-way ANOVA. The research results indicate that among the five components of SRL, the environmental structure obtained a high score, meaning that environmental structure contributes significantly to SRL in online learning for physics and non-physics majors. Meanwhile, time management received a low score, indicating that time management contributes less to SRL. There is no significant difference in each component of SRL based on gender and major. Furthermore, there is no significant effect of gender and major on the level of SRL

Abstract

There are multiple methods to cultivate creativity, including play. In current times, teenagers frequently engage in smartphone-based play, leading to the emergence of online gaming as a solution. Little Alchemy 2 is a popular game among teenagers. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the duration of little alchemy 2 game play on adolescent figural creativity in Makassar city. This study used a one group pre-test post-test experimental design by comparing experimental group 1 with a time limit of 1 minute and experimental group 2 with a time limit of 30 minutes. The study involved 30 male students aged 18-19. The statistical tests employed in this study were the Mann Whitney Test and the Wilcoxon Test. The results of this study indicate that there is an effect of intensity in playing the game little alchemy 2 with ρ = 0.042 (ρ <0.05), and there is a difference between the intensity of experimental group 1 and experimental group 2 in playing games at p = 0.000 small than (<0.005). Engaging in Little Alchemy 2 gameplay for a duration of 15 to 30 minutes has the potential to augment the creativity of adolescents.
