Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of implementing STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) learning based on HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skills) in improving problem-solving abilities in children aged 5–6 years at RA Roudlotul Huda Baleturi Prambon. This research employs classroom action research (CAR) with a cyclical design consisting of two cycles. Each cycle includes four phases: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The pre-survey conducted on February 5, 2024, showed that 50% of the children still had difficulty solving everyday problems and tended to rely on others. In Cycle 1, out of 12 students, 7 students (58%) showed expected development, and 5 students (42%) were beginning to develop, with an average class score of 9.25. In Cycle 2, there was a significant improvement, with 10 students (83%) achieving very good development and 2 students (17%) showing expected development. Based on the results, it can be concluded that STEAM learning based on HOTS is effective in improving early childhood problem-solving skills, with active teacher involvement and the use of engaging media as supporting success factors. This study recommends the application of similar learning models in early childhood education to foster children's critical and creative thinking skills

Abstract

The decline in the use of Javanese in the environment has made educators aware of the importance of media innovation to improve regional language literacy. This is a form of institutional support to preserve regional languages, because regional languages need to be introduced to the next generation from an early age. The purpose of this study is to develop a Javanese language media to facilitate educators in introducing regional literacy to children. The research subjects were 15 children and was conducted at Masyithoh II Sanansari Kindergarten. This study used a development model or Research and Development (R&D) in the form of ADDIE which went through five stages: 1) Analysis; 2) Design; 3) Development; 4) Implementation; 5) Evaluation. The results of the study were in the form of the development of Javanese language media called "SiBaJa (Sinau Basa Jawa)". The development of this media showed that there was a feasibility score of 84% from material experts and 96.25% from media experts. The results of the effectiveness test showed a significant increase in Javanese language literacy skills with an average pretest score of 52.6% to a posttest score of 88.1%. Therefore, it can be concluded that this research can be used as a means of supporting cultural and regional language literacy. The implications for early childhood education (PAUD) teachers include the importance of innovation in the use of learning media using simple technologies such as PowerPoint to instill cultural and regional language values from an early age.

Abstract

Global economic developments demand increased financial literacy from an early age as a foundation for life skills and economic independence. Children build financial understanding not only through mathematical knowledge but also through social and cultural interactions within the family and school environment. This study aims to explore the formation of financial identity in early childhood through a sociocultural approach by reviewing literature on financial education practices in early childhood education (PAUD). The research method used a qualitative approach based on library research with a constructivist paradigm and Vygotsky's sociocultural theory. Data were collected through a literature review of journals, books, and policy documents related to early childhood financial education published between 2020 and 2025. The results show that children's financial identity is formed through a complex interaction between family cultural values, learning practices in PAUD, and exposure to digital media. Children gain an understanding of the concepts of money, saving, needs, and wants through direct experiences such as buying and selling simulations and market day activities. The findings also show differences in financial values based on cultural background, with Chinese culture emphasizing saving and investment, while Sundanese culture emphasizes the value of sharing. This research confirms that integrating sociocultural-based financial education into the early childhood education curriculum can strengthen children's cognitive skills and social attitudes toward money.

Abstract

Inclusive education offers opportunities for all students, including those with special needs and exceptional talent. Its importance is often misunderstood, especially in early childhood settings, and few institutions practice it, limiting services for many children. Therefore, raising awareness and understanding about the benefits of inclusive education is crucial for ensuring equal educational opportunities. This study aims to strengthen the understanding and practice of Islamic-based early childhood education using a descriptive qualitative case study. Data was collected via interviews, observation, and documentation. Analysis involved data reduction, presentation, conclusion drawing, and verification. Results show: (1) Planning covers learning programs, assistant teachers, admissions team, facilities, and finance. (2) Implementation involves learning programs, teacher training, initial assessments, provision of facilities, parenting, and health services. (3) Evaluation assesses programs, teacher supervision, and infrastructure. In addition, the involvement of various stakeholders such as teachers, parents, and the community is essential to create a supportive environment for inclusive education. This study contributes to inclusive education theory and practice, impacting policy and improving the quality of inclusive, humanistic, Islamic-based early childhood education.

Abstract

The phenomenon in the early childhood education (PAUD) classroom shows that children often fail to engage positively, such as being unfocused, undisciplined, and not socializing well. This study aims to analyze the role of verbal and nonverbal communication of PAUD teachers in student involvement at PAUD AL-FINA using student engagement theory, the concepts of purr words and snarl words, proxemics theory, and operant conditioning theory. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study, involving in-depth interviews and participatory observation. The data were analyzed using data reduction, coding, data presentation, and triangulation. The results show that student involvement in early childhood includes behavioral and emotional dimensions. Purr words, snarl words, and proxemics delivered by the teacher play a role in early childhood engagement in the classroom. Purr words (positive words) help improve student comfort and confidence, while snarl words (negative words) create fear and convey the negative impacts of behavior, but should be stopped because they can affect the child's social-emotional condition. Proxemics is applied to monitor, provide support, and enhance students' concentration in class. This study demonstrates that both verbal and nonverbal communication of teachers significantly contribute to student involvement, classroom management, and the social-emotional development of children.
