Abstract

This research aims to analyse the role of educational management in field of Islamic guidance and counselling in creating character education for students at SMKN 1 Praya. The subjects in this study were school principals, educators, and education staff. While the object used is several students. The approach is qualitative, using a qualitative design and data collection methods including documentation, interviews, and observation. The steps of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion-drawing were all included in the interactive model developed by Miles, Huberman, and Saldana for the analysis of the data. The findings indicate that the planning for guidance and counseling services is spot on, that the implementation of the services is carried out by guidance and counseling teachers in accordance with the plan because they are aware of their responsibilities, and that the implementation of the services is program-based. However, certain programs cannot be carried out effectively. It is not ideal for the principals to oversee the guidance and counseling services program. Since character education is not offered in every subject at every educational institution, this study differs from earlier studies in the field. The study's findings can serve as a guide for character development in all educational settings, particularly when it comes to practically integrating character education into all subjects and extracurricular activities

Abstract

This study aims to identify the dominant factors influencing the management of madrasah ibtidaiyah in the archipelago. The research employs a quantitative approach with an ex post facto design, utilizing accreditation data from Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. Twenty-nine madrasahs were selected as samples using purposive sampling, based on the criterion of being accredited between 2021 and 2023 in Maluku Province. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) was applied to analyze analyze the data. The findings reveal that four principal components were identified out of 13 initial components, cumulatively accounting for 83.3% of the total variance. This sample confirms the model’s reliability in explaining madrasah management in the archipelago. These four principal components are: (1) Strategic leadership and madrasah quality assurance (64.9%), (2) Madrasah resource management (7.4%), (3) A conducive madrasah environment (6.3%), and (4) Partnership synergy with madrasah resources (4.7%). Further analysis indicates that strategic leadership and quality assurance exert the most significant influence, which is crucial in ensuring effective Madrasah management and the sustainability of educational quality in the archipelago. The implications of this study suggest that to enhance madrasah management effectiveness, madrasah leaders should reinforce internal quality assurance systems, optimize resource management, establish a conducive learning environment, and foster stronger partnerships with the community and other stakeholders. These findings provide a basis for formulating education policies that are more inclusive and adaptable to the geographical conditions of the archipelago, enabling it to compete effectively.

Abstract

Integrated quality management is a philosophy and methodology that helps institutions manage change and develop their respective agendas to respond to the pressure of external factors. This study aims to analyze the implementation of total quality management in improving the quality of early childhood education institutions. This research uses an analytic qualitative descriptive method. Structured interview techniques for schools, teaching staff, administrative staff, parents, foundation managers, the community, and education practitioners; observation techniques for Cendekia Indramayu kindergarten education institutions; and documentation studies on TQM were used in the data collection process. The sample in the study amounted to 7 people who were purposively selected. The data were then analyzed and tested for validity through the data credibility test, transferability test, dependability test, and confirmability test. The results of this study show that the strategy of improving the quality of the institution is done through optimizing and increasing the empowerment of human resources by utilizing the role of educators to improve the quality of the institution; Improving services in every field by using an easily accessible communication network; Increasing the role of parents by involving them in school programs through School Parenting; and Increasing cooperation and communication with communities, organizations, and government agencies. The results of this study provide theoretical and practical implications for school principals that the use of TQM can improve the quality of the institution if it can be implemented properly in the preparation of the institution's strategy.

Abstract

The Indonesia Smart Program (PIP), initiated by the government, is a financial assistance scheme targeting students from economically disadvantaged families to ensure equitable access to education. As stipulated in the Ministry of Education and Culture Secretary General Regulation No. 3 of 2021, PIP aims to reduce barriers to education by increasing enrollment rates, providing opportunities for continued schooling, and minimizing dropout rates. By allocating substantial educational subsidies, the program seeks to alleviate financial burdens, enabling students to focus on their education.  This research examines the effectiveness and challenges of PIP implementation, employing William Dunn's public and educational policy analysis framework. The findings highlight that PIP has positively influenced student participation and academic achievement, particularly for underprivileged groups. However, the study identifies critical issues in the distribution process, including potential misuse of funds by schools or parents. To address these concerns, stringent monitoring by schools and committees is essential to ensure funds are used as intended. This study underscores PIP’s role as a strategic policy solution to bridge educational inequalities while calling for enhanced transparency and accountability in its implementation. Recommendations are provided to optimize fund utilization and ensure the program's long-term impact on improving education access and quality.

Abstract

This study examines the planning of guidance and counseling programs in Modern Islamic Boarding Schools (Pesantren) in Medan City. Using a qualitative case study approach, research was conducted in three pesantren: Ar-Raudhatul Hasanah, Al-Kautsar Al-Akbar, and Ta’dib al-Syakirin. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model and Saldana’s method. Findings reveal that guidance and counseling planning in modern pesantren is systematic and involves multiple stakeholders, including psychologists. Each pesantren follows core planning principles, such as identifying student needs, analyzing school conditions, setting objectives, designing programs, and optimizing resources. Ar-Raudhatul Hasanah uses problem checklists and tabulation analysis, structuring plans from annual to daily levels. Al-Kautsar Al-Akbar conducts academic surveys and collaborates with dormitory teachers to set flexible goals. Ta’dib al-Syakirin emphasizes goal clarification, prioritization, and documentation for continuous development. Despite differences in needs assessment and implementation strategies, all three pesantren recognize structured planning as vital for effective program execution. With systematic planning and regular evaluations, guidance and counseling services become more responsive, enhancing students’ academic and personal development.

Abstract

This study explores the implementation of prayer-based counseling at Pondok Pesantren Al Urwatul Wutsqo Jombang under the leadership of the Kyai, and its impact on students' spiritual, emotional, and academic development. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation analysis. Findings reveal that structured prayer-based counseling sessions are central to Kyai’s strategy, fostering discipline and reinforcing spirituality. Personalized individual counseling sessions address students' unique challenges, promoting trust and respect. Kyai’s holistic approach involves continuous interaction and collaboration with teachers, ensuring comprehensive support for students' spiritual, emotional, and psychological needs. Integration of traditional Islamic teachings with modern educational practices prepares students for both religious and secular life. The study highlights significant improvements in student behavior and academic performance attributed to the spiritual and emotional support provided by Kyai. Despite its limitations, including the focus on a single pesantren and reliance on qualitative data, the study offers valuable insights into effective leadership strategies within Islamic educational contexts. These findings contribute to the field of spiritual counseling, providing practical guidelines for educators and leaders in similar settings..

Abstract

Violence in educational units is a crucial issue that negatively impacts the psychological and academic development of students. Teachers play a strategic role in preventing and addressing violence within the school environment. This study aims to identify strategies that can be implemented by teachers to prevent violence in educational units. The research employs a qualitative approach with data collected through interviews, observations, and literature reviews. This study highlights the importance of enhancing teachers' capacities through more comprehensive training so that they can become agents of change in creating a safe and inclusive educational environment. The findings indicate that violence prevention strategies can be implemented through three main approaches, namely: Preventive Approach: Involves the implementation of character education, the creation of a positive school culture, and effective communication among teachers, students, and parents. Intervention Approach: Involves the early detection of potential violence, the engagement of school counselors, and the use of technology in monitoring student behavior. Rehabilitative Approach: Involves providing psychosocial support for both victims and perpetrators, as well as recovery programs based on inclusiveness. With active teacher involvement in preventing violence, it is expected that the incidence of violence will decrease, allowing students to develop optimally within a positive learning environment. This study recommends strengthening teachers' capacities in pedagogical, psychological, and social aspects so that they can serve as effective agents of change in creating a safe and comfortable educational environment.

Abstract

Education is the key to progress and a challenge for every country, especially for developing countries like Indonesia. The problem of education quality in Indonesia can be seen from the low achievement of madrasahs and the results of the 2022 Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) evaluation. This research aims to explore the variables that influence the performance of educators in Bandar Lampung, with a focus on the leadership of madrasah heads, cooperation, welfare, motivation, personality competence, and work ethic of educators. This research uses a qualitative approach with exploratory and causal methods to identify and analyze the relationship between these variables. Data was collected through surveys and analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results of the research show that partially and simultaneously, the leadership of the madrasa head, cooperation, welfare, motivation, personality competence and work ethic have a significant effect on the performance of educators. Educator competency is the most dominant variable influencing educator performance. This research underlines the importance of good management of human resources in education to improve the quality of education. Recommendations are given to improve the performance of educators through improving leadership management, collaboration between educators, increasing welfare, motivation, as well as developing the competence and work ethic of educators.
