Abstract

This study aims to analyze legal protection for non-Muslim waqf practices in the multicultural community of Manado City through an Islamic legal perspective based on the principle of maslahah. This study also examines the role of the Waqf Deed Official (PPAIW) in the multicultural transformation of waqf land registration. This research uses a qualitative case study approach with juridical-normative and empirical methods. Data were collected through document analysis, in-depth interviews, participant observation, and focus group discussions involving PPAIW, nazhir (Islamic legal adviser), religious leaders, and land office officials in Manado. The research indicates that the principle of maslahah provides flexibility in interpreting non-Muslim waqf as a form of social contribution that supports public welfare and interfaith harmony. However, normative differences among Islamic scholars regarding the legality of non-Muslim waqf remain a challenge. The study also identified a significant gap between national waqf policy and local implementation, reflected in the low percentage of waqf land certified. Despite these limitations, PPAIW demonstrates adaptive capacity in bridging Islamic law, state regulations, and local cultural values. This research contributes to the development of a more adaptive and inclusive waqf legal framework in multicultural societies. However, this research is limited to the local context of Manado City and may not be fully representative of other multicultural regions in Indonesia. This study offers a new perspective on integrating the principle of maslahah with multicultural realities in waqf administration, highlighting the strategic role of PPAIW in promoting inclusive and socially responsive waqf governance in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a Tazkiyat al-Nafs-based guidance and counseling laboratory program to enhance counseling practice skills among Islamic Guidance and Counseling students. This study employed a Research and Development approach using the ADDIE model. The program was designed as an eight-session laboratory practicum, with each session lasting approximately 120 minutes. The program integrated counseling skills training, case simulations, role-playing, peer counseling, supervised practice, muhasabah reflection, and competency-based assessment. Thirty-two students were selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through focus group discussions, interviews, observations, questionnaires, and documentation, and were analyzed to examine validity, practicality, and potential effectiveness. The program was categorized as highly valid, with an average expert validation score of 0.86, and highly practical, with a practicality score of 84.20%. The limited trial showed improvement in students’ counseling practice skills, with the mean score increasing from 68.04 to 84.07, an N-Gain score of 0.52, and a paired-samples t-test result of p < .001. The program may strengthen laboratory-based Islamic counseling training, although the findings are limited by the one-group design, short implementation period, and absence of a control group. This study offers an integrative Islamic counseling laboratory model that operationalizes Tazkiyat al-Nafs through adab, rahmah, muhasabah, supervision, and reflective counseling practice.

Abstract

The study intends to investigate the effectiveness of digital storytelling in enhancing literacy and forming attitudes toward cash waqf among a group of college students majoring in Islamic banking study. This study applied a quasi-experimental design without a control group due to the limited number of participants. Twenty college students were involved in this study. In addition to a seven-week treatment, a set of questionnaires and semi-structured interviews were administered to the participants. The results demonstrate that the participants’ literacy levels and attitudes toward cash waqf showed an improvement after being taught using digital storytelling. Additionally, the participants showed enhanced understanding of the practical applications and benefits of cash waqf for ummah.  The present study is restricted by the relatively small number of participants and the absence of control group, limiting generalizability and causal inference. Hence, future studies should include larger samples and comparative designs to increase the validity of the findings. This study provides better insights toward the integration of digital storytelling into cash waqf education, enabling an innovative and engaging approach to encourage financial literacy and social awareness in Islamic finance contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the crisis of Islamic historical exemplary among the younger generation in the digital era and examine the reactualization of zakat values as a strategy for moral formation within the framework of Islamic moral education. This research employs a qualitative approach based on literature studies by analyzing books, scientific journals, academic publications, and relevant documents using content analysis and contextual interpretation. The findings reveal that the crisis of Islamic historical exemplary is closely related to the weakening of moral references among the younger generation due to the dominance of digital culture, individualistic lifestyles, and the declining role of family and educational institutions in internalizing Islamic values. The study also indicates that Islamic historical exemplary functions pedagogically in shaping moral imagination, ethical judgment, identity formation, and behavioral habituation among youth. Meanwhile, zakat is not merely positioned as a ritual obligation, but as a form of social education that instills solidarity, empathy, collective responsibility, and social awareness. The integration of Islamic historical exemplary and zakat-based social practices forms an integrative model of Islamic moral education that combines value internalization with practical social engagement.  This study emphasizes the importance of revitalizing Islamic historical exemplary and actualizing zakat values in order to strengthen youth morality in the digital era. However, this research is limited to a conceptual literature study and has not yet involved empirical field data regarding the implementation of integrative moral education practices in schools or Muslim communities. This study offers a new perspective on Islamic moral education by integrating the pedagogical function of Islamic historical exemplary with zakat-based social practices as a contextual strategy for shaping the moral character of the younger generation in contemporary digital society.

Abstract

This study examines how financial education and assistance shape trust in technology, perceived technology risk, and user trust in mobile banking among rural Muslim users. It uses Islamic marketing as an interpretive framework to explain digital trust in a rural context where mobile banking access has expanded faster than users’ financial and digital literacy. A quantitative cross-sectional survey was conducted among 110 rural mobile banking users in Wasuponda Village, Wasuponda District, East Luwu. Data were collected using a five-point Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed with PLS-SEM using SmartPLS 4. The measurement model was assessed through outer loadings, CR, AVE, and HTMT, while the structural model was evaluated using bootstrapping, confidence intervals, R², f², VIF, blindfolding, and PLSpredict. The measurement model met acceptable reliability and validity criteria. The structural model was only partially supported. Financial education significantly increased user trust (β = 0.674; p < 0.001) and perceived technology risk (β = 0.373; p = 0.013). Other paths, including assistance, trust in technology, and perceived technology risk toward user trust, were not significant. The model explained 59.8% of user trust, with no serious collinearity problems. Financial education was the most consistent pathway in this model for strengthening informed trust. However, the findings are limited by the cross-sectional design, single rural setting, purposive sampling, and self-reported data. The study identifies a two-track education effect: financial education increases both user trust and risk awareness. Islamic marketing values are used as an interpretive lens, not as directly measured variables.

Abstract

The term Iqtishad carries an original ethico-religious meaning that has been displaced by modern Western economic connotations, rendering its inherent principle of moderation dormant in contemporary Islamic economic discourse. This study seeks to recover that original meaning and establish Iqtishad as a foundational ethical virtue in Islamic economics. This study employs qualitative library research using classical Arabic lexicons, Qur'anic exegesis, Prophetic hadith, and classical Islamic scholarly heritage (turath), analyzed through the semantic analysis method of Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas, tracing the root qashd across six Qur'anic verses, ten hadith traditions, and works of Miskawayh, al-Ghazali, and al-Thusi. Iqtishad is identified as a virtue (fadhilah) derived from 'iffah (self-restraint), representing the middle position between israf (extravagance) and taqtir (miserliness), with five sub-virtues: sakha' (generosity), qana'ah (contentment), intizham (self-regulation), waqar (tranquility), and wara' (piety). Findings are interpretive and text-based, requiring further empirical research to test applicability in actual economic behavior and policy contexts. This study uniquely applies al-Attas' semantic method to Islamic economics, systematically categorizing Iqtishad within classical virtue ethics and offering an epistemically indigenous foundation for the discipline.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of an empathetic approach supported by creative learning media to improve students’ understanding of early marriage in Islamic Religious Education at the Islamic junior high school level. This study employed Classroom Action Research using the Kemmis and McTaggart model, which consists of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The participants were 15 ninth-grade students of Madrasah Tsanawiyah Nurul Huda. Data were collected through learning achievement tests, observation sheets, student response questionnaires, and documentation. The data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative and qualitative techniques across two action cycles. The findings showed that the integration of an empathetic approach and creative learning media improved students’ cognitive understanding, classroom participation, reflective thinking, and empathetic awareness regarding early marriage. Students became more able to identify the educational, psychological, social, and religious consequences of early marriage and demonstrated more critical attitudes toward the issue. The study implies that Islamic Religious Education can function as a contextual and transformative learning space for addressing sensitive social issues. However, the study was limited to one classroom with a small number of participants, so broader studies are needed to strengthen generalizability. This study offers an instructional framework that integrates empathy-based pedagogy and creative media within Islamic Religious Education to promote students’ critical and moral awareness of early marriage.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a Notion-based Islamic Religious Education e-module and examine changes in students’ learning motivation, learning independence, and perceived ease of use after its implementation. This study employed a Research and Development approach using the ADDIE model, which consists of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The research was conducted at Muhammadiyah 1 High School Makassar and involved 61 students in grades X and XI. Data were collected through observation, questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. A five-point Likert scale questionnaire was administered before and after the implementation of the e-module. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, paired sample t-tests, linear regression, and qualitative analysis. The findings show that the Notion-based Islamic Religious Education e-module received a positive student response, with an overall mean score of 3.86 in the high category. The paired sample t-test showed statistically significant increases in learning motivation from 3.80 to 3.87, learning independence from 3.82 to 3.95, and perceived ease of use from 3.64 to 3.74. The regression analysis indicated that use of the e-module and perceived ease of use were significant predictors of learning motivation, while learning motivation and perceived ease of use were significant predictors of learning independence. The findings suggest that Notion-based e-modules have potential to support more structured, interactive, and independent Islamic Religious Education learning. However, the results should be interpreted cautiously because this study used a one-group pretest-posttest design without a control group and relied on self-report data. This study offers an alternative model of Islamic Religious Education e-module development by using Notion as a digital learning environment that integrates learning materials, assignments, reflection activities, flexible access, and independent learning support.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the concept of pesantren education from ethical, legal, and psychological perspectives by placing the thinking of KH. Hasyim Asy'ari is the main basis of the analysis. This research uses a qualitative approach based on literature studies with hermeneutic-critical analysis. The results of the study show that in the thinking of KH. Hasyim Asy'ari, pesantren education is built on the integration of adab, fiqh, and kiai-santri relations as the foundation for the formation of student character. This study found that adab is placed as the main requirement in the process of seeking knowledge, so that students are required to prioritize respect for teachers, sincerity, discipline, and self-control before achieving intellectual competence. In the normative dimension, fiqh is not only understood as a formal rule of worship, but also as an instrument for fostering social behavior and ethics in the daily life of students. Meanwhile, the kiai-santri relationship functions as an affective pedagogical model that emphasizes example, emotional closeness, and habituation of values through direct interaction in pesantren life. These findings show that pesantren education from the perspective of KH. Hasyim Asy'ari is oriented towards the integration of intellectual, spiritual, and moral development. This article emphasizes that this paradigm has high relevance in responding to the crisis of dehumanization of modern education. The novelty of this research lies in the effort of an integrative conceptual reconstruction, which synthesizes the dimensions of ethics, law, and psychology in one coherent epistemic framework, different from previous studies that tended to be partial, both sociological, historical, and pedagogical. These findings show that the paradigm is relevant in responding to the crisis of dehumanization of modern education as well as contributing to the development of a more integrative epistemology of Islamic education.

Abstract

For learning in Islamic boarding schools to be effective and efficient, it must be supported by appropriate methods. With the advancement of science and technology, simple and concise methods for understanding the science of nahwu sharaf (study of Islamic texts) as the basis for reading classical Islamic textss (kitab kuning) have emerged. This study describes how the Amtsilati method is implemented and how teachers and students perceive its contribution to learning. This study used a qualitative case study approach conducted in an Islamic boarding school. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using dialogical interpretation of theory and empirical findings to reach credible conclusions. The results indicate that the implementation of the Amtsilati method consists of three stages: planning carried out by the teacher before the lesson begins by outlining learning indicators. Implementation involves collaborative and student-centered learning through repeated reading, memorizing qaidah (religious rules), reciting nadham (proverbs), and analyzing examples based on nahwu and sharaf (study of Islamic texts). Evaluation is carried out through two forms: written and oral competency tests. The Amtsilati method makes it easier to understand Arabic grammar, with an effective and efficient learning design using a collaborative central learning model based on memorizing poetry and rules. This research focuses on the implementation of the Amtsilati learning method, which includes planning, implementation, and evaluation of learning. Further research will focus on the level of learning effectiveness on students' understanding of Amtsilati lessons using quantitative research.
