Abstract

possess historical, cultural, and informational value. Along with the development of archival science, the concept of archives has expanded beyond administrative records to include various records of human activities that hold authentic and long-term value. This article aims to examine the fundamental concepts of art archives, ephemera, and cultural heritage, as well as to explain the relationship among these three elements from an archival perspective. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach using a literature review method. Data were collected from relevant scholarly articles and analyzed through identification, classification, comparison, and synthesis of previous research findings. The results indicate that art archives and ephemera constitute significant components of cultural heritage due to their informational, evidential, historical, and cultural values, making systematic management essential. Furthermore, digitalization has become an important strategy for supporting preservation efforts and improving public access to cultural archives in the digital era. Therefore, archival management supported by standardized description, digital technology, and collaboration among archives, museums, libraries, and cultural institutions is essential to ensure the sustainability of information and the preservation of cultural heritage for future generations.

Abstract

Laboratory data archives are an important component in supporting public health research and evidence-based decision-making. This study aims to analyze the incidence of Soil-Transmitted Helminths (STH) infection among brick craftsmen based on laboratory data archives in Sengkol Village, Pujut District, Central Lombok Regency, in 2024. The study employed a descriptive method with a cross-sectional approach supported by archival document analysis. Data were obtained from laboratory examination records and respondent data documentation. The results showed the presence of STH infections caused by Ascaris lumbricoides, Trichuris trichiura, and hookworms among brick craftsmen. Infection was more frequently found among workers with poor personal hygiene, inadequate use of personal protective equipment, and prolonged exposure to contaminated soil. From an archival perspective, properly managed laboratory records support systematic, accurate, and accountable health data analysis. This study emphasizes the importance of strengthening archival systems to improve data quality and support disease prevention efforts.

Abstract

Field Learning Practice is an academic activity that provides students with an opportunity to connect knowledge gained in the classroom with records and archives management practices in a real work environment. This article discusses the implementation of field learning practice at the Regional Library and Archives Office of West Nusa Tenggara from 10 to 21 August 2026, focusing on photographic records listing, physical records classification, inactive records listing, and retrieval and examination of inactive records. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach through participatory observation, direct involvement in archival activities, and systematic recording of experiences and outputs. The results indicate that archival management requires not only conceptual understanding of classification, arrangement, preservation, and retrieval, but also accuracy, software skills, understanding of the context of records creation, and adaptability to organizational procedures. The institution has implemented the Integrated Dynamic Archival Information System (SRIKANDI) to support dynamic records management; however, challenges remain, particularly staff familiarity with manual practices and limitations in facilities and infrastructure. The experience of retrieving and examining inactive records, including documents related to community land disputes, demonstrates that records serve an important role as sources of information and evidence. These findings underline the need to strengthen human resource competencies, improve archival facilities and infrastructure, and maintain practice-based learning so that records management can become more effective, efficient, and supportive of organizational accountability.

Abstract

Cultural archives are information sources of historical, cultural, educational, and research value that must be managed systematically to prevent loss, damage, or destruction. This study aims to examine the concepts, processes, benefits, and challenges of acquisition and appraisal of cultural archives within the framework of national archival management. The method used is a literature study, analyzing various relevant sources, regulations, and archival guidelines. The results show that acquisition functions as a process of rescuing archives from individuals, families, communities, and institutions, while appraisal functions to determine the archival value through the assessment of administrative, legal, historical, cultural, scientific, and informational value. Both processes are carried out through the stages of identification, selection, acquisition, appraisal, status determination, storage, and preservation. Acquisition and appraisal have proven beneficial in rescuing archives, preserving national cultural identity, supporting research and education, and public information services, although challenges remain in the form of low public awareness, limited archivists, budget, and facilities. Synergy between the government, archival institutions, universities, and the community is needed to achieve sustainable preservation of cultural archives.

Abstract

Cultural heritage is a vital component of community identity, playing a key role in sustaining collective values, strengthening social cohesion, and preserving cultural memory across generations. West Nusa Tenggara Province possesses a rich cultural heritage reflected in the traditions of the Sasak, Samawa, and Mbojo peoples traditions that embody values such as mutual cooperation (gotong royong), religiosity, solidarity, consensus-based deliberation, and respect for nature and ancestors. This study aims to analyze the role of cultural heritage in shaping and maintaining the collective values of communities in West Nusa Tenggara, as well as to identify challenges and preservation strategies amidst the forces of globalization. A qualitative approach utilizing descriptive methods was employed. Data were gathered through in-depth interviews, observation, documentation, and literature reviews, and subsequently analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive analysis model, comprising data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that cultural heritage in West Nusa Tenggara serves not only as a marker of cultural identity but also as a medium for transmitting collective values that reinforce social solidarity and community cultural resilience. Traditions such as Bau Nyale, Sakeco, Rimpu, Kareku Kandei, and Uma Lengge exemplify values of togetherness, cooperation, and respect for ancestral customs. However, modernization, globalization, and declining participation among the younger generation pose challenges to cultural preservation. Therefore, synergy among the government, educational institutions, cultural communities, and the general public is essential to develop sustainable preservation strategies that ensure the continuity of cultural heritage while upholding the community's collective values.
