Abstract

General Background: Breast milk production during the postpartum period is a critical factor in successful breastfeeding, yet many mothers experience challenges in achieving adequate lactation. Specific Background: Traditional herbal practices such as empon-empon consumption are widely used in Indonesian communities as part of postpartum care, believed to support lactation through bioactive compounds. Knowledge Gap: Previous studies have primarily examined general herbal benefits, with limited contextual evidence on the relationship between empon-empon consumption and breast milk production within independent midwifery practices. Aims: This study aims to analyze changes in breast milk production before and after consuming empon-empon herbal drink among postpartum mothers at PMB Dwi Ningrum, Demak. Results: Using a quasi-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design involving 79 respondents, findings showed an increase in the proportion of mothers with smooth breast milk production from 24.1% before intervention to 60.8% after consumption, with statistically significant differences based on the Wilcoxon test. Novelty: This study provides empirical, context-specific evidence integrating local cultural practices and lactation outcomes within community-based midwifery services. Abstract

General Background: Poultry slaughterhouses manage inventory of fresh and frozen chicken products to maintain supply continuity and cost efficiency. Specific Background: A poultry slaughterhouse in Sidoarjo experiences overstock in frozen whole chicken products across multiple size categories, exceeding warehouse capacity and increasing inventory costs. Knowledge Gap: Existing company practices do not adequately align production quantities with storage constraints and demand patterns, leading to inefficiencies in multi-item inventory management. Aims: This study aims to determine optimal production quantities of whole frozen chicken using Economic Production Quantity and Lagrange Multiplier methods to minimize total inventory cost under warehouse capacity constraints. Results: The proposed approach reduces total inventory cost from Rp28,644,888,779 to Rp20,019,529,574, achieving cost savings of Rp8,625,359,205 (30.11%) while ensuring required storage volume (120.73 m³) remains within capacity limits (181.8 m³). Forecast-based production planning for 2026 further yields a total cost of Rp16,091,881,801 with feasible storage requirements. Novelty: This study applies a combined EPQ and Lagrange Multiplier approach to a multi-item poultry inventory problem with explicit storage constraints. Implications: The findings provide a practical framework for optimizing production planning and inventory control in poultry processing industries to achieve cost minimization and capacity feasibility. Highlights: Overstock conditions exceed storage limits but are resolved through constrained optimization modeling. Cost reduction reaches 30.11% with adjusted production quantities across three product categories. Forecast-based planning yields feasible storage usage and lower total expenditure for the following year. Keywords: Inventory, Lagrange Multiplier, Optimization, Production

Abstract

General Background Human development represents a multidimensional paradigm integrating health, education, and living standards as core indicators of societal progress. Specific Background This study examines variations in the Human Development Index (HDI) using panel data across multiple administrative units over the 2019–2023 period, focusing on stunting prevalence, under-five mortality, health facility availability, and regional economic output. Knowledge Gap Prior studies largely emphasize macroeconomic or fiscal variables, with limited integration of chronic health indicators and primary healthcare infrastructure within a unified panel framework. Aims This research aims to identify key determinants shaping HDI through a comprehensive panel regression approach. Results The findings reveal that under-five mortality and the number of inpatient health centers exhibit significant negative relationships with HDI, while regional economic output shows a positive and significant association. Stunting does not demonstrate statistical significance within the observed period. Novelty The study introduces an integrated model combining chronic health indicators and economic variables, highlighting disparities between infrastructure quantity and service quality in shaping development outcomes. Implications The results indicate that improving human development requires reducing child mortality, strengthening the quality and distribution of primary healthcare services, and sustaining inclusive economic growth strategies. Highlights• Under-five mortality consistently reduces human development outcomes• Economic output expansion aligns with higher composite welfare indicators• Health facility expansion without quality alignment yields adverse patterns KeywordsHuman; Development; Mortality; Stunting; Economy
