Abstract

The presence of spices in the archipelago became one of the pioneers for various cultural manifestations that appeared in various regions of the Indonesian archipelago. One form of the presence of spices that is reflected in this cultural form is the traditional steam bath tradition. The aims of the study were to 1) describe the distribution of bathing habits using spice water in several regions in the Indonesian archipelago. 2) mapping the distribution plots of spices in the archipelago through local traditions that have existed and are still alive in the community in certain areas of the archipelago; 3) showing the traditional steam bath tradition which has become a habit and has the potential to become an intangible cultural heritage in Indonesia. In conducting the study, it was used to search for sources of information from literature studies related to the spice bath tradition. The method used is a qualitative method by describing a map of the distribution of the spice bath tradition in the regions of the archipelago. The results of the study show that traditional steam bathing is a spice bath tradition that is spread across the eight regions in Indonesia and is dominated by people who have a background of Malay cultural influence. The eight areas include North Sumatra (Batak Karo), Jambi (Tanjung Bajo Village), Palembang, Pontianak (Mempawah), West Kalimantan (Sintang Regency), Sambas Regency, North Kayong Regency (Pangkalan Buton Village), and East Belitung.

Abstract

The implementation of the Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) approach aims to enhance student motivation in the Pancasila Education subject for Grade V students at SD Plus Indo Global Mandiri (IGM) in Palembang. This study was motivated by the issue of low learning motivation among students in the Pancasila Education subject, as observed during the initial teaching practicum (PPL 1). The preliminary observation revealed that only 49.96% of students demonstrated sufficient learning motivation. This condition was primarily caused by the use of teacher-centered learning approaches that relied heavily on textbooks, lacked variety, and failed to connect the material to students' cultural backgrounds and real-life experiences. The purpose of this study was to increase students’ learning motivation through the application of Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT), a teaching approach that integrates students’ cultural backgrounds as a foundation to build deeper understanding of the subject matter. This research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design, which was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this study were Grade V students at SD Plus IGM Palembang. Data on student motivation were collected using a motivation questionnaire administered during each cycle. The data were analyzed quantitatively by calculating the percentage of improvement in students’ learning motivation. The findings showed a significant increase in students’ motivation after the implementation of the CRT approach. Learning motivation rose from 49.96% in the pre-cycle to 73.24% in the first cycle, and further increased to 88.16% in the second cycle. This improvement indicates that the CRT approach can foster a more relevant, engaging, and enjoyable learning experience, which positively impacts students’ motivation in learning Pancasila Education.

Abstract

The development of information and communication technology makes it easier for us to access everything, for this we need the competence of each person in mastering various science and technology (IPTEK). As educators, teachers must be able to develop themselves in developing the learning media used in class. The aim of this research is to test the validity, practicality and effectiveness of videoscribe media on the learning outcomes of class VII students at SMP Negeri 2 Hu'u. Researchers developed videoscribe learning media to help students study social sciences (IPS). This type of research uses Research and Development, using the ADDIE model. The sample in this study was 36 class VII students at SMP Negeri 2 Hu'u. The data collection instruments used were interviews, questionnaires and tests. The data analysis techniques used are media validity analysis, media practicality analysis, and media effectiveness analysis. The research results showed that the validity of the media and material was 86% in the "very valid" category. Meanwhile, the practicality of videoscribe media received a percentage of 85% in the Very practical category. Student learning test scores are obtained from pretest results with a Classical Completeness score of 65%. From the results of the pretest, there were 13 students who completed it and 23 students who did not meet the Maximum Completeness Criteria (KKM) with a percentage of 34%. After the posttest was carried out, there were 31 students who completed it and 4 students who did not meet the Maximum Completeness Criteria (KKM), resulting in a percentage of 88%. Thus, it can be said that the use of Videoscribe media in social studies learning at SMP Negeri 2 Hu'u is effective in improving student learning outcomes. This can be seen from the significant increase in student learning outcomes, where initially only 65% of students achieved complete KKM, after the media was implemented. Videoscribe in learning the student's completeness score is 88%.

Abstract

This article reports history teachers’ attitudes towards inclusive education during pandemic times. The main question addressed in this study is about to what extent the transition of teachers’ attitudes caused by the adaptive learning framework during pandemic times. A qualitative descriptive based on the framework of Differentiated of Attitudes towards Inclusive Education was used as a research method. The research participants were history teachers in the Surakarta area. The data were collected through an online interview. The findings of the research show that the trained-experienced history teachers tend to believe that students with special needs can get more facilities and learning support in special education, especially during the distance and online learning processes. Meanwhile, untrained-inexperienced history teachers tend to doubt that students with special needs education can gain significant improvement in regular classrooms. To a certain degree, it can be perceived as a symptom of new exclusivism during the pandemic time that can be proved by the tendency of trained-experienced history teachers to exclude students with special education needs based on their needs and lack of inclusive learning sources.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the problem of forest destruction in Riau Province which often occurs for years due to human behavior. The environmental care attitude of the Kampar indigenous people towards the prohibited forest in Kenagarian Rumbio, Riau Province is one of the sources of the values of character education that cares for the environment that can be internalized to students. These social studies learning resources are sourced from local cultures that can form knowledge, attitudes and actions that seek to prevent forest destruction and take various actions for environmental conservation. The focus of this research is to identify the values of the environmental care character of the Kampar indigenous community towards the prohibited forest of the Kampar customary community and integrate it into social studies learning. This study uses a qualitative approach with ethnographic methods. The results showed that there were three things in the forest preservation of the prohibited communities of the Kampar custom society in Kenagarian Rumbio, namely; 1) view of the forest as part of the life of custom society; 2) the role of ninik mamak in customary communities in the form of rules and norms, prohibitions and myths, and then the role of nephews in the Pelopor Foundation, Rural Forestry Extension Center and Tourism Awareness Group or Pokdarwis; and 3) informal education system in building ecological awareness of prohibited forest to the younger generation. Then, it can be implemented the character value of environmental care for the indigenous people of Kampar towards the prohibited forest in Kenagarian Rumbio in social studies lessons to foster ecological awareness of the environment and forests.

Abstract

This research is the result of an analysis of the multiculturalism values of Cirebon-Indramayu as a historical reality that cannot be denied by anyone. The taking of spatial boundaries by selecting two regions (Cirebon and Indramayu) is based solely on the consideration that in the course of its history, administratively the Indramayu region was once part of the territory of the Islamic Kingdom of Cirebon and Karesidenan Cirebon. This reason is then used as a reference in selecting the research location. To facilitate the description of Cirebon-Indramayu history and the phenomenon of multiculturalism in it, the author use four historical research steps including heuristics, criticism, interpretation, and historiography. After the historical facts that show aspects of multiculturalism in Cirebon-Indramayu are obtained, the next step is how the message of multiculturalism obtained can be presented in the lecture room in learning local history courses. For this reason, this research will also be continued with the application of the Reflective Pedagogical Paradigm (PPR) approach as a learning effort that integrates the history of Cirebon-Indramayu with the values of multiculturalism. As a result, the Cirebon-Indramayu history study, which was adjusted to the context of the student, students understand the history of their area and the values of multiculturalism were able to be confirmed through the dynamics of experience, reflection, and action. Ultimately, Bhineka Tunggal Ika is not just a slogan that is echoed everywhere, but it is true. The affirmation of the value of multiculturalism in the history of Cirebon-Indramayu is also an attempt to place the value of multiculturalism in the history of Cirebon-Indramayu in line with historical facts that have become the narrative and object of previous historical research.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the problem of student learning outcomes which are still relatively low, this can be seen from the data on student scores in social studies subjects, there are still many who have not reached the minimum completeness criteria (KKM) score of 70. In the learning process the teacher acts as the only source information, where learning is only oriented or teacher centered (teacher centered approach). This makes social studies learning boring and makes students feel sluggish to learn so that it has an impact on student learning outcomes which can be seen from the average value of students in social studies subjects which still have not reached the minimum completeness criteria value limit (KKM). This type of research is quantitative research with an experimental approach. The population of this study was class VIII SMP Negeri 14 Seluma which amounted to 163 people and the sample in this study was class VIII.A, which amounted to 33 people. The data collection tool is a test (pre-test and post-test). The data analysis technique used paired t-test (paired t-test) for the effect of Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) on social studies learning outcomes. The result of this study is that there is an effect of using a contextual approach on social studies learning outcomes at SMP Negeri 14 Seluma. This can be seen from the test results tcount = 9.44 < ttable 5% = 2.036.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of technology significantly affects various life aspects, notably education. Virtual reality (VR) is a key technology that enables the creation of educational media for historical sites. However, previous research indicates limitations in features and accessibility. This study aims to develop a prototype application called SiCamar (Malang Raya Temple Site) based on VR. Using a research and development (R&D) approach, we applied the ADDIE model, focusing only on the Analysis, Design, and Development stages since the goal was to create a prototype and test its initial feasibility. The needs analysis revealed that users desired to experience the historical site via a VR platform. Essential features identified include 360-degree panoramas, videos, teaching materials, and maps, while necessary learning activities involve virtual tours, video observation, reading materials, and answering questions. In the design phase, the use of AI facilitated the creation of an attractive user interface. User testing results indicate that the SiCamar application effectively enhances user satisfaction, particularly in supporting the learning process.
