Abstract

Honorary teachers have a strategic role in supporting the national education system, especially in fulfilling the need for teaching staff in areas that lack human resources. However, this role is often faced with challenges such as poor welfare, lack of career security and limited access to professional competence development. This literature review outlines the important contribution of honorary teachers to education and the financial and structural barriers they face. Solving these problems requires collaboration between the government, the community and other stakeholders, especially in formulating more inclusive policies to improve the welfare and quality of the honorary teaching profession. With optimal support, honorary teachers can continue to make maximum contributions to the achievement of national education goals.

Abstract

Extortion, gratuities and bribery are the most common acts of corruption and are prone to involving bureaucrats, will harm the state and as crimes threaten the norms, values and integrity of the nation. The bureaucracy has a mode of corruption in the form of gratification, then sex gratification appears which gets the public's attention. Sextortion is a form of sexual extortion related to abuse of power. Sex gratification and sextortion are pathologies of bureaucrat behavior related to corrupt behavior, manifested in negative or dysfunctional behavior. There is a high urgency for regulation of sex gratification and sextortion in explicit regulations because of the urgent need for legal certainty and easier proof to be carried out by the KPK. Article 12B of Law Number 20 of 2001 does not contain the word gratification in the form of sex services. This means that there are no regulations or laws stating that the act of providing sexual services (sex gratification) is an act of corruption. Likewise, the absence of laws targeting sextortion as a form of corruption causes it to become a form of covert corruption. The novelty of the research is that sex gratification and sextortion are icebergs as a result of a void in norms, difficult to be charged with criminal law, difficult to prove and weak sanctions do not create a deterrent effect.

Abstract

This systematic review examines the role of TikTok in English Language Teaching (ELT), with particular attention to its effectiveness in enhancing motivation, vocabulary acquisition, and speaking proficiency. Using PRISMA guidelines, this study analyzed 19 peer-reviewed empirical research articles published between 2020 to 2024, indexed in Google Scholar, Scopus, ScienceDirect, Mendeley, and Taylor & Francis Online. Findings indicate that TikTok fosters self-regulated learning and student engagement while facilitating interactive pronunciation and fluency practice. However, barriers to its optimal implementation include exposure to non-educational content, the absence of systematic integration, and the lack of instructor feedback. While TikTok cannot replace conventional teaching methods, it can be a valuable supplementary tool when combined with methodical instructional techniques. Future research should investigate its long-term impact on ELT, particularly in writing and listening skills, and propose instructional strategies for its integration into formal curricula. These findings underline the need for strategic implementation in English Language Teaching classrooms to contribute to the broader discourse on using TikTok in English Language Teaching.

Abstract

This study analyzes the politeness strategies in Nora Roberts' novel Born in Ice. The analysis uses Brown and Levinson's theory of politeness. A qualitative content analysis method was employed. Data were collected through documentation techniques by reading and recording dialogues and character actions that reflect politeness strategies. The analysis involved classifying both positive and negative politeness strategies, analyzing linguistic elements such as mood and modality through the Systemic Functional Grammar approach, and contextualizing the data based on interpersonal relationships (family, friendship, professional). The results revealed that positive politeness fosters empathy and strengthens interpersonal relationships, while negative politeness maintains harmony and respects individual autonomy in conflict situations. The situational context plays a crucial role in determining the politeness strategies used. This study contributes to the cross-disciplinary field of pragmatic linguistics and popular literature, expanding the understanding of politeness as a communication tool that reflects cultural values and social norms.

Abstract

The development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology has had a significant impact on various fields, including architecture. The integration of AI in the architectural design process is an important innovation that drives the creation of smart architecture, a design approach that combines artificial intelligence to produce adaptive, efficient, and sustainable buildings. This study examines how AI plays a role in designing smart buildings through data analysis, environmental simulation, building form optimization, and design personalization based on user preferences. In addition, it also discusses the challenges faced by architects in adopting this technology, such as the need for new skills, data use ethics, and integration with conventional design software. The results of the study show that AI not only improves the efficiency and accuracy of the design process, but also opens up opportunities to create architectural solutions that are more responsive to user and environmental needs. Thus, the integration of AI is a strategic step in realizing a smarter and more sustainable future architecture.

Abstract

This study investigated visitor satisfaction and design difficulties at the Basement Prayer Room of Mall Lawu Plaza, Madiun City. A Prayer Room on the mall's ground floor signifies incorporating religious components into the corporate environment, showcasing the mall's capacity to blend traditional religious activities with a contemporary setting. This project intends to make substantial theoretical and practical advancements by thoroughly examining visitor requirements in unconventional prayer environments. This research method is a form of Design thinking research, which is the primary approach. The study’s findings indicated that observations and interviews identified several obstacles impacting the visitor experience, such as spatial limitations, privacy concerns, insufficient illumination, and ventilation issues. The proposed remedies, rooted in Design Thinking principles, consist of recommendations for artificial ventilation, alteration of wall materials, enlargement of prayer spaces, extra storage, and potential relocation of the mall. The solutions focus on enhancing the prayer space's comfort, inclusivity, and functionality by following human-centred design principles. This study highlights the requirement to incorporate human requirements and experiences into the Design of places of worship in modern metropolitan settings.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the effectiveness of the Flipped Classroom method in improving English writing skills among students. The Flipped Classroom method allows students to learn basic theories and concepts independently through learning videos and online materials outside of class, while face-to-face time in the classroom is used for interactive discussions, writing exercises, as well as face-to-face feedback. This approach is expected to overcome the limitations of traditional learning methods that often do not provide enough time for students to practice writing intensively. Flipped classroom technology approach in this academic paper means a key pedagogical innovation that displays potential in reaching countless diverse learners in the classroom. Applying technology and engaging tasks that offer varied cognitive challenges for learners can help develop their higher-order thinking skills and encourage life-long learning. This method aligns with the evolving demands of 21st-century education, emphasizing student-centered learning, critical thinking, and active engagement. In the context of ELT, flipped learning offers a promising framework to enhance language acquisition by providing learners with more opportunities to practice and apply their skills in meaningful contexts.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of political education on political participation awareness among people with disabilities in Indonesia. Inclusive political education is believed to be able to improve the understanding of people with disabilities regarding their political rights, the electoral process, and the importance of active involvement in democratic life. Through a descriptive qualitative approach and literature review, this study found that political education delivered through various methods, such as socialisation, lectures, and accessible materials, can increase knowledge, self-confidence, and motivation among people with disabilities to participate in elections and other political activities. However, there are still challenges in the form of limited facilities, materials that are not fully accessible, and social and psychological barriers. Therefore, an integrated strategy involving the government, election organisers, disability organisations, and the wider community is needed to ensure that political education is accessible in a fair and sustainable manner, so that the political participation of persons with disabilities can increase in both quantity and quality.

Abstract

The phenomenon of hoaxes and echo chambers in the digital space is becoming increasingly worrying as social media algorithms that reinforce user confirmation bias continue to develop. This study aims to analyse the patterns of interaction between hoaxes, echo chambers, and confirmation bias, as well as their impact on social polarisation in the post-truth era. Through literature review and analysis of social media comment interactions, it was found that individuals tend to only be exposed to and believe information that aligns with their beliefs, while differing views are often ignored or even rejected. Filter bubble algorithms reinforce information isolation and create homogeneous echo chambers, allowing hoaxes and misinformation to spread unchallenged. The combination of these three phenomena contributes significantly to social fragmentation, deepens polarisation, and reduces the quality of public discourse. This study emphasises the need to improve digital literacy and algorithm transparency to minimise the negative impact of hoaxes and echo chambers and encourage the creation of an inclusive and dialogic digital space.
