Abstract

The advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology has driven significant transformation in global education, requiring teachers not only to serve as instructors but also as innovators in educational media. However, vocational high school (SMK) teachers in Indonesia still face challenges in effectively integrating AI into the learning process. This community service program aimed to enhance the creativity of SMK teachers in developing AI-based educational media through integrated training and intensive mentoring. The activity was conducted collaboratively at SMK Negeri 2 Barru, consisting of a needs assessment, a one-day offline training, and a two-week hybrid mentoring phase. The training covered the use of AI platforms such as ChatGPT, Canva AI, Gamma App, and MagicSchool AI, along with strategies for designing creative media and implementing differentiated, project-based learning. The results showed a significant increase in participants’ understanding, with average test scores rising from 52 to 84. A total of 18 out of 40 teachers successfully produced innovative educational media, including infographics, animated videos, AI-based quizzes, and vocational practice simulations. Evaluation results indicated that 95% of participants found the program relevant, and 90% were highly satisfied. Some teachers had already implemented the AI-based media in their classrooms with positive student responses. This program demonstrated that systematic and contextual support can significantly enhance both pedagogical and technological competencies of vocational teachers. The findings highlight the strong potential of AI integration in vocational education when accompanied by sustainable mentoring. This program contributes to teacher capacity building and supports a more creative, adaptive, and future-ready digital education transformation.

Abstract

The availability of functional food that is safe, nutritious, and has added value is a strategic issue in sustainable development. Ampekale Village in Maros Regency is a center for seaweed cultivation, yet local communities lack the skills to process their harvest into high-value food products. The main problem identified is the limited knowledge and technical capacity to utilize seaweed and local livestock as raw materials for modern food products such as nuggets and yogurt. This community engagement program aimed to enhance the capacity and self-reliance of the Seaweed Farmers Cooperative Group through the application of food chemistry and applied animal science. The methods used included interactive lectures, discussions, and hands-on demonstrations, involving 35 participants consisting of micro-entrepreneurs and housewives. Evaluation was conducted through a Likert-scale questionnaire and direct observation. The results indicated a significant improvement in participants’ understanding of functional food concepts, food safety, and technical skills in processing and packaging products. Participants also expressed a strong interest in developing independent businesses, with some already beginning small-scale production at home. This program successfully integrated scientific knowledge with appropriate technology in a practical manner and had a positive impact on the economic empowerment of coastal communities. The initiative also shows strong potential for sustainability and replication in other coastal areas with similar resource characteristics.

One of the problems faced in preventing diseases that can be prevented by immunization is the low coverage of complete basic immunization. The government's program in an effort to improve children's health is that before the child is one year old, basic immunization should be given completely according to a high and even schedule. In this condition, it is expected that the immune system can be formed optimally so that the impacts caused can be minimized. The purpose of this counseling activity is to increase public knowledge and awareness about the importance of complete basic immunization in preventing infectious diseases, especially Diseases That Can Be Prevented by Immunization (PD3I) so that children as the nation's successors can live healthy lives free from pain, disability and even death. The method used is lectures and discussions. This activity was carried out in the Mandai Health Center Work Area, Maros Regency with 25 participants. Abstract

This Community Service Program (PKM) was carried out in Binaga Sangkara Village, Maros Regency, with the aim of increasing community knowledge about the health benefits of seaweed and encouraging its local utilization. The background of this activity is based on the global rise of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) due to poor dietary habits, as well as the underutilization of seaweed among coastal communities as a functional food source. The program included nutrition education, socialization of seaweed benefits, and training in seaweed-based food processing. Evaluation results showed a significant improvement in participants' knowledge, with those in the high-knowledge category increasing from 20% to 60% after the program. Additionally, there was a growing interest among residents in developing seaweed products independently. This activity demonstrates that an educative-participative approach can effectively raise nutritional awareness and empower coastal communities through the sustainable use of local resources.

Abstract

Socialization and education about the dangers of drug abuse among adolescents are essential to building a drug-free generation, considering that high school students play a critical role in shaping the nation’s future. Drug abuse not only causes health problems but also has long-term social, economic, and legal impacts. This community service activity was conducted at SMA N 2 Sidrap, involving 30 students aged 16–17 years. The purpose was to increase awareness and knowledge about the definition, classification, risks, and prevention of drug abuse. The program began with a pre-test, followed by an interactive lecture using PowerPoint slides and animated videos to make the material more engaging. Students were actively involved through discussions, case analysis, and a Q&A session. A post-test was administered to assess knowledge improvement. Results indicated a significant increase in understanding: definition (86.7% to 93.3%), classification (83.3% to 93.3%), impact (80% to 96.7%), and prevention (90% to 100%). The use of multimedia and interactive delivery proved effective in maintaining attention and promoting active learning. Beyond immediate knowledge gains, the activity fostered critical thinking and empowered students to act as peer educators, spreading anti-drug messages in their communities. This approach can serve as a sustainable model for other schools, contributing to broader efforts in reducing drug abuse prevalence among youth and supporting the creation of a healthy, resilient, and informed generation.
