Abstract

Education is a fundamental pillar in shaping intellectually, morally, and spiritually balanced individuals. This study addresses the differences and similarities in the concepts and objectives of education from Islamic and Western perspectives amid the challenges of globalization and technological advancement. This research aims to analyze the concepts, goals, and characteristics of education according to Islamic and Western philosophers. This study employs a qualitative approach using library research by examining relevant books, journals, and scholarly publications. The findings show that Islamic education emphasizes the integration of faith, morality, and knowledge, while Western education focuses on rationality, empiricism, critical thinking, and practical skills. This study highlights the importance of integrating moral and spiritual values into the modern education system. In conclusion, Islamic and Western educational perspectives can complement each other in forming balanced individuals intellectually, ethically, and socially.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the opportunities and challenges of Islamic education in the modern era through a library research design. Data were obtained from academic books, reputable journals, and credible sources relevant to Islamic education, globalization, and digital transformation. The study follows a qualitative descriptive approach in which data were collected through document analysis and thematically categorized. The findings reveal three major opportunities: (1) the rapid development of digital learning that supports flexible and accessible instruction, (2) increasing public awareness of the importance of character education, and (3) the broadening of global knowledge networks that provide collaboration space for Islamic education institutions. However, several challenges remain, including moral degradation influenced by digital culture, limited innovation in learning methods, lack of digital competence among educators, and the ongoing dichotomy between religious and secular sciences. The study concludes that Islamic education should strengthen curriculum integration, improve teacher professionalism, and optimally utilize technology while maintaining Islamic values.

Abstract

this article aims to explain the role of sociology in building students’ character. sociology is a social science that studies social facts, social norms, and various forms of social deviation, which are important factors in the process of character formation among students. this study uses a qualitative approach with a library research method. the data sources are obtained from relevant literature, academic journals, and books related to sociology of education. all collected data are analyzed descriptively to draw comprehensive conclusions. the results of this study indicate that sociology of education, as a branch of sociology, plays a significant role in shaping students’ character in schools, particularly through the understanding of values, norms, and social interactions within the educational process.

Abstract

The fundamental relationship between adab and knowledge in the epistemology of Islamic education can be examined through the thoughts of Imam al-Ghazali and Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas. Both emphasize that adab is an epistemological foundation that determines the quality of knowledge, not merely a matter of ethical behavior. Adab functions to direct intention, preserve the purity of the heart, and ensure that knowledge is acquired and practiced correctly so that it does not lead to moral or social corruption. Their concept of knowledge shows that knowledge in Islam has complementary spiritual and rational dimensions. Knowledge is understood as a divine light that guides humans toward truth, as well as an intellectual process that must be guided by moral values. Thus, the relationship between adab and knowledge is cyclical: adab prepares the soul to receive knowledge, and knowledge strengthens adab through proper understanding and application. In the context of modern education, this study asserts that moral crises—such as character degradation and the misuse of knowledge—stem from separating knowledge from adab. Therefore, integrating adab and knowledge must be reintroduced into Islamic educational curricula through a holistic approach that unites knowledge, spirituality, and character formation. Such integration offers a conceptual solution to contemporary educational challenges in the digital era and strengthens the aims of Islamic education in shaping knowledgeable and well-mannered individuals.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of the Adiwiyata program in fostering environmental awareness, identify the obstacles faced by the school, and describe the efforts made to overcome these challenges at SD Negeri Sugihan 02. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that the Adiwiyata program has been implemented effectively through school policies, an environment-based curriculum, participatory activities, and the management of environmentally friendly facilities. The challenges identified include limited student awareness, insufficient facilities, and the suboptimal involvement of parents. The school has made various efforts to address these issues, such as establishing routines, conducting socialization activities, strengthening school culture, and collaborating with the school committee and the community. Overall, the Adiwiyata program has proven to contribute significantly to shaping students’ environmental awareness

Abstract

The position of Muslim women is often perceived rigidly, primarily due to a textualist understanding of Islamic sources. Hermeneutics, with its focus on interpretation, context, and the dialogue between text and reader, offers a path for re-interpretation that is relevant to contemporary social, economic, and cultural challenges. This research aims to identify how the application of hermeneutic principles (such as historicity, context, and fusion of horizons) can lead to a more dynamic, inclusive and just understanding of Muslim women’s right and responsibilities. The findings suggest that through the hermeneutic approach, the role of Muslim women can be interpreted beyond traditional boundaries, acknowledging their leadership capacity, public contribution, and personal autonomy, while adhering to fundamental Islamic values. This approach is essential for bridging the gap between tradition, modernity, and for empowering Muslim women to participate fully in modern society.

Abstract

Etika Lingkungan Islam (ELI) telah sukses memformulasikan prinsip konservasi teologis melalui konsep Khilāfah dan Amānah. Namun, implementasi syariah dalam isu krisis ekologi masih lemah dan reaktif akibat keengganan diskursus hukum Islam (fiqh) bertransformasi menjadi kerangka Fikih Hijau yang operasional. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan Eko-Hermeneutika untuk menafsirkan ulang ayat-ayat kosmologi Al-Qur'an (tentang mīzān, air, dan penciptaan) dengan lensa kesadaran ekologis. Temuan utama menunjukkan bahwa Tauhid secara inheren mengimplikasikan Kesatuan Ekologis (Wahdat al-Kawn). Keseimbangan alam (mīzān) bukan sekadar metafora, melainkan prinsip yuridis wajib tentang Keadilan Ekologis. Khilāfah harus ditransformasikan menjadi Mandat Pemeliharaan (stewardship) ekosistem, mengakui nilai intrinsik alam sebagai entitas suci (sacred entity). Fikih Hijau yang diusulkan menekankan waṣiyyah (kepemilikan bersama) atas SDA. Kerangka ini memberikan dasar bagi kewajiban kolektif (farḍu kifāyah) umat dan negara untuk restorasi ekosistem (iṣlāḥ) dan penyusunan regulasi yang mengikat, seperti penetapan Kawasan Konservasi Syar'i. Pembacaan ini mentransformasi fiqh menjadi kerangka yang proaktif dan responsif terhadap bumi, melegitimasi aksi iklim berbasis syariah.

Abstract

Floods in ASEAN are triggered by the interaction of extreme natural factors (tropical cyclones, typhoons) and dominant anthropogenic factors (land-use change, environmental degradation). This study analyzes the complexity of flood-triggering factors across the region and formulates effective strategies for strengthening flood disaster literacy among Elementary School (ES) students. Literature review results indicate that literacy enhancement must be holistic, covering cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains, and based on contextual regional risk data. Effective methods include child-friendly techniques like storytelling, utilizing local maps, and adopting technology-based learning applications. The novelty lies in proposing a Regional Risk-Based Curriculum Model, bridging macro-level threat analysis with micro-level educational practice. The ultimate goal is to develop ES students as vigilant and responsible mitigation agents.

Abstract

This article examines the implementation of gender equality in the school environment through curriculum integration and inclusive educational practices. Gender equality in education is crucial for creating a fair and discrimination-free learning space. The study highlights that a gender-responsive curriculum, which presents balanced representations of male and female roles across various subjects, effectively reduces gender stereotypes and discrimination. Furthermore, the active role of educators and support from school policies are essential in creating an inclusive educational environment. The research concludes that consistent implementation of gender perspective integration not only empowers students equally but also contributes significantly to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly the goal of gender equality in education.

Abstract

Islamic education is vital in shaping character and promoting religious moderation, with traditional institutions effectively implementing formal curricula (state-of-the-art). However, this effectiveness is eroded by the challenges of digital radicalism and the lack of translation of theory into practical practice. The main gap is the absence of an integrated implementation model that holistically transforms moderation into school culture and into concrete student action, as existing efforts are too school-centered and neglect the role of family/community. This research offers a novelty: the Three-Pillar Integration Model (Tri-Pillar). This model synergizes the Core Curriculum (Cognitive), Co-Curricular Activities (Affective) based on experiential learning, and Community/Family Engagement (Psychomotor). The Tri-Pillar Model is proposed as a solution to create a consistent and supportive learning environment. The potential outcome is a significant improvement in students' Religious Moderation Attitude Index (ISMB), encompassing the dimensions of knowledge, tolerance, and national commitment, providing a practical contribution to sustainable radicalism prevention policies.
