Abstract

College students deal with various events that can increase stress levels and negatively impact their lives. The study aimed to investigate the effect of solution-focused brief counseling (SFBC) on reducing college students' stress levels. The hypothesis suggested a decrease after comparing the stress level with SFBC before the intervention. The Participants consisted of 6 active postgraduate psychology students with moderate and high-stress levels. Furthermore, the study used a one-group pretest-posttest design, and the data were obtained through the Stress Scale for College Students (SSCS) and interview. The intervention used SFBC, and was conducted in four meetings. In analyzing the data, the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test was used to determine the difference in experimental group values between before and after the intervention. The result showed that there are differences in stress levels before and after the procedure, and its drastic decrease in participants was observed after the intervention.

Abstract

Globalization and international standard universities trend drive the higher education system to become more dynamic and innovative. The lecturer is a profession that drives and encourages university competitiveness. Therefore, better career advancement and development are vital in encouraging higher education competitiveness. The United States of America (USA) is currently a world-class university orientation, followed by Australia. Hence, other countries, especially developing countries, should know the USA and Australia higher education system, especially in the lecturers’ career advancement and development. This study is necessary to answer research questions about comparing academic career advancement systems in the USA and Australia. This study will give other countries new insight into academic career advancement. The researchers apply the findings from a systematic review. This study focuses on six aspects discussed: regulations, educational qualifications, lecturer obligation status in the higher education, career ladder, career advancement stages, and the lecturers' duties also responsibilities in lecturer career advancement in the USA and Australia. This study examines the gap between lecturers' career advancement systems in the USA and Australia comprehensively. The researchers observe by analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of the lecturer career advancement system in the USA and Australia. Also, the researchers compare the results using comparative public administration theory.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of practicality, effectiveness, and influence of the application of learning media based on Augmented Reality (AR) in the Computer Network Installation course using a mobile application called AR_JARKOM_INFORMATIKA_UNP. This study used the Research and Development (R&D) method with research subjects, namely students in class 2F3 and 2F4 of the Informatics Engineering Education Department of Electronics Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Padang State University who attended the Computer Network Installation lectures for the January-June 2020 semester. The results of this study indicate that AR-based learning media has a practicality level of 88.40% with a very practical category, then in the effective category based on the post-test score of the experimental class (2F3) which is 73.16 which is higher than the control class (2F4) which is 69.25 and provides 33.6% contribution to the learning outcomes of Computer Network Installation based on the r square value of 0.336. So it can be concluded that AR-based learning media has a good level of practicality, effectiveness and influence to be used in the learning process of Computer Network Installation.

Abstract

This research is designed to expose the level of curiosity of students in learning in the aspects of interest, novelty seeking, openness of experience, and exploration. In particular, we will measure the differences in curiosity assessed from the points of semester level and gender. The study involved 234 students in their third, fifth, and seventh semesters in nine study programs at the University. Data was collected from the curiosity questionnaire in learning, consisting of 48 items on the Likert scale with a reliability of 0.886. The results showed the level of curiosity of students in the aspects of interest, novelty seeking, and openness of experience to be in the medium category and in the exploration aspect, in the low category. On the other hand, students in the third semester a had higher curiosity in learning compared to students in semesters five and seven, while studies on the gender aspect did not find substantial differences in students' curiosity in learning.

Abstract

This research aims to develop interactive multimedia that can improve the quality of education, especially in strengthening students' character and personality, both holistically and comprehensively, according to the expectations of Indonesia's applicable curriculum. Qualitative methods are used in this study to get a complete picture to determine the developed multimedia response. The subjects of this study were one principal, two teachers, and five students. The instruments used in this study were in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation of the learning process using the developed multimedia. The results showed that students, in general, can use this multimedia in the learning process. There needs to be elaboration with teachers in different disciplines to present the material's depth according to the lessons. This research is recommended to all related parties who contribute to the development of students' quality following graduate standards' demands. In turn, it will produce a generation that is ready to enter a new era of knowledge, a better understanding of resources and factors that can affect both directly or indirectly, and it should be the basis for all related components and policymakers.

Abstract

Health and education are important factors in the sustainability of a country. Health is not only physical health but also mental health is very important to maintain its quality. Student mental health is a condition without mental disorders, health because of stress, so it can play a role in life. The method used in this article is literature review. This study seeks to uncover how school health efforts are as effective programs to promote school-based mental health. Kajin results show that a planned and measured health business program can be a means of promoting school-based mental health. The UKS program is health education, health services, and fostering a healthy school environment. An effective and efficient UKS program is supported by strong leadership and cooperation across related sectors. This is supported by three forces namely, institutions, cognitive frames, and social networks.

Abstract

Moral degradation as an indicator of the weak character of students who represent the character of the nation is increasingly concerning, the study aims to identify characters through Hypno teaching and neuroscience studies. Literature research with a systematic review through previous research in the years 2010-2019. The results showed that the contribution of Hypno teaching is very important in realizing student character through the cognitive development of children's brains. Student characters are motivation, self-efficacy, empathy, and sympathy for others. the contribution of the research is great hope for the life of the nation in the future in realizing a golden generation of character.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the fulfillment of the National Education Standards (SNP) and its problems in Papuan SMTKs. The research method used is a mixed method. The research subjects were 33 heads of Papuan SMTKs, heads of Christian education, and assessors of BAN-S / M Papua. Data collection used the 2017 SMA / MA accreditation instruments, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique used descriptive and interactive statistical tests by Miles and Huberman. The results showed that most of the Papuan SMTK had fulfilled the SNP. The Sapras and Tendik standards are still problematic because half of the SMTKs has not yet reached the SNP, even most of the SMTKs do not have biology, physics, chemistry, canteen, supervisors, administrative staff, administrative staff, and special service officers according to the SNP.

Abstract

Aggressive behavior in children has negative impacts on their social life. The various intervention programs were used to reduce aggressive behavior, one of them was by enhancing children's empathy. Group Play Therapy is used to enhance children's empathy ability so that their aggressiveness level can decrease. This study aimed to enhance empathy through Group Play Therapy in children who had aggressive behavior. Experimental research was used with pre-test and post-test design in two different groups, the experimental and control groups. The subjects were twenty school-aged children. The subject’s criteria for having a moderate-low level of empathy, also having moderate-high levels of aggressiveness. The instruments were The LA Aggression Scale for Elementary School and Upper Secondary School Students to measure the aggression levels with Cronbach’s Alpha value is 0,879. The instrument used to measure the children’s empathy was The Empathy Questionnaire for Children and Adolescents (EmQue-CA) with Cronbach’s Alpha value is 0,828. The Wilcoxon, Mann-Whitney, and Kendall's Tau tests were used to analyze data. The results showed that Group Play Therapy can enhance children's empathy so that it can reduce aggressive behavior.

Abstract

The conceptual framework of psychoanalysis seeks to explain the nature and development of the personality of students through creative elements, namely motivation, emotions, and other internal creative aspects. Conceptual method of psychoanalytic approach as a determination of the implementation of the inquiry training model through a systematic review. Based on data analysis that: 1) student creativity can be explored through a psychoanalytic approach that expresses new ideas with students' intellectual freedom in the form of inquiry and problem-solving skills in their own way; 2) Creativity is based on Guilford's creative person who is built by conscious and unconscious efforts on neuroscience which gives rise to motivation, energy, ego to do creative ideas; 3) Different ways of creative students become important factors in determining discovery learning models. creativity is part of a personality that is encouraged to be creative if indeed they cannot meet sexual needs directly. Because their needs are not fulfilled, sublimation occurs, and finally, imagination emerges.
