Abstract

It developed a collaborative assessment tool aimed at providing students with the opportunity to evaluate their abilities. This research is a research and development (R&D) using the ADDIE stage approach. The development of the laboratory instrument is made in the form of a non-test self-assessment sheet. The validity of the data is assessed by the experiential team in the fields of materials, construction, and language. The Aiken equation with the coefficient V Aiken is used as a decision rule in determining the validity of the instrument. This study involved 5 experts and 34 vocational high school students in Surakarta as respondents to the study. The results showed that the self-assessment- based assessment instrument was valid and reliable so it was suitable for vocational students.

Abstract

Critical writing needs to be taught to junior high school students to develop analytical skills, evaluate, and relate meaningful learning experiences. Assessment as Learning (AaL) is an assessment that students can do to reflect on the development of their knowledge independently. Aal can be used as a variation of assessment in teaching materials. Critical writing and AaL can be combined in the form of teaching materials. This study will explain how AAL and critical writing are part of the development of exposition text teaching materials for class VIII. This presentation was developed with a research development scheme by adapting the 4D development research model. Furthermore, from the research, the final result was that the application of AAL in the development of teaching materials could have a positive effect on students with a practice test score of 90% and product user trials with a score of 87%.

Abstract

This paper aims to explore how Madrasah EFL teachers manifest their agency in developing their professional identities. The study is a narrative inquiry involving eight EFL teachers from Madrasah around Indonesia. Data were collected through narrative frames followed by in-depth interviews to clarify blurred stories written in narrative frames. The data were analyzed and elaborated into three themes, the novices, beyond the shell: the journey to be professional teachers, and the lifelong learners. The result shows that the dynamic change enacted by Madrasah EFL teachers can be categorized into three dimensions, the iterational, the practical evaluative, and the projective dimension.

Abstract

This study aims to self-reflect the student-teacher’s (ST’s) scaffolding during her online teaching practicum practice. The self-reflective was conducted in six meetings using a Zoom Application. It utilized a thematic analysis from Braun Clarke (2006). The findings showed that the student-teacher was able to: (1) be aware of her scaffolding drawbacks and improved significantly in the next meetings, (2) improve students’ understanding, (3) conduct appropriate scaffolding learning process by utilizing various graphic organizers and media. While the student teacher was effective in using the scaffolding technique, each theme's improvement path is different. Every meeting is typically used to develop it, and it is acquired in a step-by-step manner.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a computer-based interactive Genetics project guide e-book to enhance undergraduate biology students’ cognitive learning outcomes. This development was carried out because there had been no available written guidebook for the Genetics project, which resulted in non-optimum project implementation. The content in the e-book consists of a description of material related to Drosophila melanogaster, descriptions and videos of general procedures, PjBL-based learning activities, and quizzes. Lee and Owen’s development model was used in this study which consisted of 4 stages, (1) multimedia need assessment and analysis; (2) multimedia instructional design; (3) multimedia development and implementation; and (4) multimedia evaluation. Before being implemented, the e-book was validated by material experts, learning media experts, and Genetics lecture. The effectiveness of the e-book in enhancing cognitive learning outcomes was measured using the ANCOVA test. The results of the e-book effectiveness test showed a significant difference between the control and experimental classes. These results indicate that the computer-based interactive e-book is valid, practical, and effective for use in the learning process of the Genetics project.

Abstract

This research is intended to improve undergraduate students’ ability in writing descriptive paragraphs by employing the picture word inductive model (PWIM) in online learning. This study involved the 29 students of Intensive Course Writing program of Universitas Negeri Malang 2021 cohort. This Classroom Action Research was conducted in one cycle which consisted of five meetings. In collecting the data, the researcher employed four instruments namely the writing test, scoring rubrics, classroom observation checklist, and field notes which had been previously validated. The finding of this research indicated that the employment of could improve students’ writing ability in descriptive paragraphs since it has successfully fulfilled the criteria of success which is 80% of the students got or achieved the passing grade, 75. Therefore, for the teachers who experiences similar issues, the implementation of this strategy can be taken into consideration as one of the alternative ways to improve students’ writing in online learning. For further research in the same realm, it is suggested to employ the result of the research of this study as one of the valid references in conducting the research.
