Abstract

This study aims to improve the teaching and learning process and outcomes, improve the implementation process of instruction, and improve student learning outcomes by combining cooperative learning models with natural science educational crossword puzzle multimedia on the digestive system instructional material. The form of research used is Lesson study, which is designed in 2 cycles, each cycle having 1 meeting. At each meeting, students learnt in groups using the natural science educational crossword puzzle multimedia. The results showed that the application of educational crossword puzzle multimedia was carried out well in each cycle (100%) with very strong criteria. Study results also described that the average activeness of students was 100% with very strong criteria. Based on the analysis of student achievement in the cycle I with an average score of 80.29, mastery of 82.61%, and in the second Cycle 83.48 with mastery of 91.30%, it can be concluded that thr application of natural science educational crossword puzzle multimedia supports the learning process for the better and improves student learning outcomes, especially in the material of digestive system.

Abstract

This research aims to solve some common problems faced by learners, namely difficulties in understanding materials with abstract ideas and the lack of problem-solving skills. Mobile-based interactive learning multimedia as an innovation in educational setting is a self-learning media that the learners can use both in school and at home to help them understand the materials easily, minimize learning difficulties, and increase their problem-solving skills. This is a Research and Development (R&D) with the APPED model. The subjects of this research were the 10th grade students of the Vocational Program of Computer and Network Technology at SMK Negeri 1 Tulung Klaten (State Vocational School 1 of Tulung, Klaten). The data analysis technique was done through the descriptive quantitative. The results showed that the mobile-based interactive multimedia learning was feasible with the Very Good category. The mobile-learning-based interactive multimedia learning was effectively used with a percentage of 77.85% and the difference in significance, based on the Wilcoxon Test on the pretest posttest of 0.000 it indicates that there is a difference in the increase in problem-solving skills while learning using the mobile-based interactive multimedia learning.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the error of speaking the language of the North Halmahera speech at the fonological level in the interaction of learning and the factors behind it. The type of research used is qualitatively descriptive with phenomenological approaches. Data is obtained using simak method with basic tapping technique. Once the data is obtained, it is then analyzed using the agih method and the padan method at the time of the speech interaction. Based on the results of the analysis, it was found that language errors include, errors in pronunciation and spelling. The error in the tester consists of  the error using phoneme /e/ (pepet) pronounced to /é/ (taling) caused by the language of the mother not knowing the phoneme /e/ (pepet), pronouncing phoneme /i/ to /é/ (taling), phoneme /e/ being /a/, phoneme /ai/ being /e/, phoneme / é/ (taling) becomes /i/, phoneme diftong /au/ becomes /o/, phoneme /c/ becomes /sé/, phoneme /v/ becomes /p/, phoneme /u/ becomes /w/, phoneme /n/ becomes /ng/, phoneme /i/ manjadi /e/, phoneme /kh/ becomes /h/, phoneme /z/ becomes /s/, phoneme /z/ becomes /j/, phoneme /sy/ becomes /s/, phoneme /f/ becomes /p/, phoneme /h/ at the end of a specific word, phoneme /o/ becomes phoneme /u/, Phoneme removal /h/ in a specific word, and Phoneme removal /k/ in a specific word. Spelling errors consist of capital letters usage, use of punctuation, and use of words. Thus it can be inferred language errors in the phonological state including pronunciation and spelling errors.

Abstract

Innovation in education is necessary for teachers and students to follow the learning process because of the limited laboratory facilities in elementary schools; science learning is done. This study aims to analyze student acceptance and understanding concept in using android-based animated videos on Millealab virtual reality in grade V elementary school. The research method process is carried out in several stages, starting from expert testing conducted on three media experts, three subject matter experts, and three teachers from 3 different schools. Test the use of virtual reality video with a sample size of 65 students. Collecting data using a Likert scale questionnaire 1 to 5, and treatment in descriptive analysis. Testing the acceptance of virtual reality videos to students showed that students received virtual reality video media during the learning process. The application of virtual reality (VR) technology in science learning in elementary schools can improve conceptual understanding so that student acceptance of VR is excellent and teachers also feel helped by using VR media to support the learning process. VR technology is better than AR because it is more comprehensive and easier to use by teachers and students.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze mental health and anxiety levels during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study focused on students who were forced to study at home by e-learning. This study used as many as 210 students from junior high school, senior high school, and university levels which were selected randomly. Then, this study used a mixed-method by combining quantitative and qualitative approaches. Multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) was used to obtain empirical results to compare mental health and anxiety levels based on student age groups. The analysis results revealed there was a positive and significant influence of the students’ age group on mental health and anxiety levels during the outbreak of COVID-19. The analysis also concluded that students in the 12-15 years’ age group had the worst mental health level. Meanwhile, students in the 20-25 years’ age group are known to have the lowest anxiety level. Overall, this study found that Indonesian students experienced a decline in mental health and detected an increase in anxiety levels. The level of mental health and student anxiety has implications for their learning at home, which can lead to unsatisfactory learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the efforts of madrasah teachers to internalize Islamic values in developing students' actual morals. Using case study research by conducting in-depth interviews with 8 madrasah tsanawiyah teachers and analyzing them with data cleaning, transcripts, coding and categorization, and interpretation. This research resulted in: First, duha sunnah and fardhu prayer in congregation, and get used to respect the teacher, to manage the syahwiya power of students, resulting in "iffah" which gave birth to the morals of jud, syakha', qana'ah, amanah, zuhud, rahmah, hilm, and al-afwu. Second, get used to dzikrullah, and accustom shiyam sunnah, to curb the hammiya power of students, resulting syaja'ah, ‘adalah, ihsan, insyaf, rahmah, and hilm. Third, get used to muhadharah activities, and Islamic integrative learning, to educate students' powers of mufakkara, thus giving birth to wisdom and fathanah behavior. It can be concluded that the internalization of Islamic values in developing students' actual morals is duha sunnah and fardhu prayer in congregation, get used to respect the teacher, get used to dzikrullah, accustom shiyam sunnah, muhadharah activity, and Islamic integrative learning, to curb the spiritual power of shahwiya, manage power of hammiya, and educating students powers of mufakkara, thus giving birth to the behavior of' iffah, jud, syakha', qana'ah, amanah, zuhud, rahmah, hilm, al-afwu, syaja'ah, 'adalah, ihsan, insyaf, mujahadah, sabr, wisdom, and fathanah. The results of this study have implications for the theory of "Islamic moral development" which can be applied to all madrasah education in Indonesia and the Islamic world.

Abstract

Character is always a problem in human life that must be overcome immediately. One of the alternatives offered to build human character is through character education in non-formal schools. The school has an application that is able to help the character education process which is named the online equivalent application. This application is a learning system designed by the Ministry of Education and Culture Republic Indonesia. This research is in the form of a qualitative description and the purpose of this study is to describe the function of Setara daring applications in fostering the character of learning citizens. Data collection techniques using observation, interviews and documentation. The data collection instruments used were observation sheets, interview guidelines and document review. The data analysis technique used in this study is interactive model of analysis. The results of the application of the Setara Daring application turned out to have a major impact on the character education of learning citizens especially on the character of discipline, responsibility, independence, and caring for others.

Abstract

Studies in Indonesian Higher Education students’critical thinking skills, have shown that they still need reinforcement. Hereby, Merrill’s First Principles of Instruction offers steps of activities to facilitate this. This article reports the results of a case study on the assessment of Indonesian Higher Education students’critical thinking skills in each step of Merrill’s First Principles of Instruction (Problem, Actication, Demonstration, Application, and Integration) during Classroom Action Research Course for students of batch 2017 of English Language Education Department. Through descriptive qualitative analysis of assessment rubric of critical thinking, it was found that the assessments given in each step of Merrill’s First Principles of Instruction could trigger the students’ critical thinking skills assisting them to manage to formulate proposal for conducting Classroom Action Research. This provides insights to craft assessment in line with Merrill’s First Principles of Instruction as to promote students’ critical thinking skills. Therefore, it could be suggested for other researchers to conduct similar research using more careful and detailed criteria of critical thinking rubric when implementing Merrill’s First Principles of Instruction.

Abstract

Blended learning in this study combined face-to-face online learning and independent learning such as interactive media and zoom meeting application. This study aims to obtain the comparison of implementation blended learning in improving 4C abilities (critical thinking, creative, communication, and collaboration) system information students in English debate activity before and after the treatment. Furthermore, preliminary data from the subjects of this study before blended learning treatment showed an average value of < 55, and this value was categorized as “less”. Therefore, this research is a type of quantitative research using pre-experimental research method. The data were calculated by using SPSS. Research results indicated an increase in the students’ 4C abilities after implementing the blended learning model. The average increase of creativity was 43.79%, with an estimated increase is 39.89%. Critical thinking was 45.08%, with an estimate of 47.78%. Collaboration had 38.26%, with an estimate of 43.03%. At the same time, communication reached 38.32% with an estimation of 43.40%. Based on these results, the highest 4C increase was in critical thinking abilities compared to other abilities.

Abstract

This study aims to produce media in the form of parenting modules for parents of children with mental retardation that suitable to be used by the parents. Some things that are important in this study include increasing the knowledge and understanding of parents of children with mental retardation so that they can care for the children according to their abilities. In addition, they can develop optimally, and solve problems faced by parents of children with mental retardation. It provides solutions toward the parents’ problems so that children with mental retardation can grow and develop properly. This study uses Research and Development (R&D) based on Borg and Gall. The conducted stages include research and data collection, planning, product draft development, product testing, and revision of product trial results. This product was tested on 21 parents of children with mental retardation. The feasibility of the product is based on the evaluation results of material experts, media experts, and parents of students as test subjects. Data collection techniques used observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. Data analysis at the problem identification stage used descriptive analysis. While the data analysis technique used on product quality is quantitative descriptive data analysis. The results showed that the parenting module media for parents of children with mental retardation was developed through a series of trials, and expert validation was declared feasible.
