Abstract

This research is motivated by the low speaking skills of early childhood students. The use of conventional learning media is one of the causes necessitating technology adoption. This study aimed to analyze the effect of Chat-GPT integration based on opinion, reasoning, and information gap tasks on speaking skills. This study used a quasi-experimental research method involving 252 early childhood students. The three experimental groups received treatment in the form of the use of Chat-GPT in language teaching based on opinion, reasoning, and information gap tasks. All groups were tested on their initial speaking skills. The experimental group was given an intervention in opinion, reasoning, and information gap tasks, while the control group was given a traditional intervention to improve speaking skills. Data analysis was conducted using one-way ANOVA. The results showed that the experimental group in all three groups showed significant improvements in speaking skills compared to students in the control group in the posttest phase. The implications of this study demonstrate the transformative potential in English learning, especially in speaking skills. Using Chat-GPT as a supporting tool in communication-based task activities allows students to explore various perspectives, strengthen their reasoning skills, and organize information more logically and structured.

Abstract

Gender stereotypes still exist in the educational process. This can be seen from the biased attitudes of teachers towards their students and biased texts in school textbooks, both in the form of sentences and images. One way to overcome this is through Indonesian language lessons. The purpose of this study is to analyze efforts that can be made to build a gender-sensitive culture through language learning. This study used a quantitative survey method. The research respondents comprised 185 junior high school teachers of Indonesian language subjects selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through a Google Form, containing a closed questionnaire. Data analysis was carried out using SPSS. The results showed that the majority of teachers showed a supportive attitude towards efforts to build a gender-sensitive culture through language learning, which includes: a) the implementation of gender-equal character education through Indonesian language lessons; b) the use of gender-neutral materials in Indonesian language lessons; and c) the application of gender-sensitive pedagogy. A gender-sensitive culture can be built through language learning. This research implies that teachers can use it as a guide in educating students about gender equality, textbook compilers to use language that upholds gender equality in compiling books, and the government as curriculum and policy makers to implement gender equality in education fairly and evenly.

Abstract

Madrasah students in urban environments often experience complex stress, while conventional counselling services are unable to provide effective and contextual solutions. This condition requires mental health interventions that can address students' emotional, psychological, and spiritual needs holistically. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of ecological counselling services in reducing stress levels and increasing students' environmental awareness and adaptive capacity. This study used a mixed methods approach with an explanatory sequential design. The study subjects consisted of 20 students with high stress levels, who also served as subjects for the intervention trial. Data were collected through a student stress and well-being scale questionnaire and in-depth interviews. The research instruments were a Likert scale questionnaire and an open-ended interview guide. Quantitative data analysis was conducted using paired t-tests, while qualitative data were analyzed thematically. The results showed that ecological counselling effectively reduced student stress levels, as indicated by increased well-being scores. This counselling also built students' connectedness to their surroundings, strengthened resilience, and created a therapeutic space aligned with spiritual values. The conclusion of this study states that the ecological counselling approach can be a relevant intervention model for improving the mental health of madrasah students. This research has implications for integrating natural environmental elements in guidance and counselling services based on religious and cultural values.

Abstract

Spatial reasoning is a cognitive skill that plays an important role in geometry learning and is influenced by various factors, one of which is Adversity Quotient (AQ), a student's resilience in facing academic challenges. This study aims to analyze the spatial reasoning ability of junior high school students in solving geometry problems based on AQ categories. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design. This study included 64 seventh-grade students, categorized based on the Adversity Response Profile (ARP) Questionnaire adopted from Paul G. Stoltz to map students' AQ. Furthermore, five geometry test questions were used to measure spatial reasoning. Six students, two for AQ climbers, campers, and quitters, were interviewed to explore students' spatial reasoning. The results showed that climber students excelled in spatial visualization and mental rotation. Camper students tended to be less consistent, and quitter students had difficulty visualizing two-dimensional to three-dimensional relationships. These findings emphasize the importance of AQ in designing geometry learning strategies. The study's conclusion shows that Adversity Intelligence is an important factor in supporting the success of spatial reasoning for solving geometry problems. The implications of this research suggest that mathematics education, especially geometry, needs to focus not only on cognitive aspects but also on developing affective aspects such as resilience (adversity quotient).

Abstract

Developing students' writing skills, particularly in the context of 21st-century education, demands critical, reflective, and creative thinking. Practical writing skills depend not only on technical language skills but also require metacognitive awareness. However, many students still struggle to develop structured and reflective writing strategies. On the other hand, advances in artificial intelligence technology, particularly Generative AI (Gen-AI), provide significant opportunities to create adaptive and personalized digital learning environments, including providing metacognitive prompts that can stimulate students' deeper thinking awareness. This study aimed to explore the impact of Gen-AI-assisted digital metacognitive prompts and an ethnopedagogical approach to collaborative and individual learning processes on writing skills and metacognitive awareness. This study used a quasi-experimental approach with 200 high school students. Data analysis included MANOVA, two-way ANOVA, and multiple regression to investigate the impact of the intervention on the four groups. The research findings indicate that integrating Gen-AI-assisted digital metacognitive prompts and an ethnopedagogical approach in collaborative writing significantly improved metacognitive knowledge and regulation compared to other intervention groups. The implications of this study suggest that integrating Gen-AI-assisted digital metacognitive prompts and an ethnopedagogical approach can be an effective learning strategy in improving students' writing skills.
