Abstract

This study aims to analyse the scientific literacy skills of elementary school students in learning Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) with a focus on four indicators, which are understanding basic scientific concepts (content knowledge), critical thinking and inquiry skills (scientific inquiry), the ability to apply scientific concepts in a social context (contextual application), and scientific attitudes. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. Observations were conducted to observe learning activities, while interviews were conducted with teachers and principals to find out their responses regarding students' scientific literacy. The results of the study indicate that students' understanding of basic scientific concepts is quite good, especially when learning uses a practical approach and is based on the context of everyday life. Students' critical thinking and inquiry skills still need to be improved, especially in terms of asking questions and formulating hypotheses. Students' ability to apply scientific concepts to a social context shows positive results, especially through project activities that are relevant to the surrounding environment. Students' scientific attitudes, such as curiosity, are starting to develop, but attitudes of accuracy and precision still require further development. The conclusion of this study is that elementary school students' scientific literacy can be improved through inquiry-based learning methods, projects, and experiments involving real-life contexts and active guidance from teachers. This study recommends strengthening learning programs that encourage critical thinking, scientific attitudes, and the application of science in everyday life.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of the POAC model (Planning, Organizing, Actuating, Controlling) in Islamic-based educational administration within the Paket C Equivalency Program at PKBM Leadership Cendikia Gowa. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. The participants consisted of administrators, tutors, learners, and parents, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and were analyzed using the interactive analysis model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña. The findings reveal that: (1) Planning was carried out through participatory deliberation to design learning programs based on the needs of the learners; (2) Organizing was implemented by assigning teaching responsibilities according to tutors’ competencies, guided by the Islamic value of justice (‘adl); (3) The implementation of learning integrated academic achievement with character development through Qur’anic recitation, collective prayer, and exemplary conduct demonstrated by tutors; and (4) Evaluation was conducted through attendance monitoring, learning assessment, and end-of-semester reflective discussions. The integration of Islamic values such as trustworthiness (amanah), consultation (syura), and moral exemplarity strengthens the effectiveness of educational administration and contributes to the character formation of learners.

Abstract

This research analyzes spiritual development in Islamic education through literature studies, examining its philosophical foundations and implementation at various levels of education. The content analysis uncovers key themes, research gaps, and modern challenges such as digitalization, AI, and technological ethical issues. The results show that Islamic education integrates spiritual, moral, and intellectual values through the principles of Tawheed, Tarbiyah, Tazkiyah, and Ta'lim, as well as the framework of Maqasid al-Sharia, with spiritual intelligence playing an important role in the emotional and moral development of students. The integration of spiritual values is effective through a holistic curriculum, regular activities, a supportive environment, and the role of educators. However, technology presents challenges related to privacy, algorithmic bias, and depth of spiritual experience, so digital ethics, pedagogical innovation, and educator competency enhancement are needed. The research emphasizes the need for measurable spiritual implementation models, comprehensive evaluation instruments, and follow-up studies to realize holistic and sustainable Islamic education.

Abstract

This study aims to describe teachers' perceptions of the independent training feature on the Merdeka Belajar (PMM) Platform as an effort to strengthen teacher competence in the context of implementing the Merdeka Curriculum. This research is important to find out the extent to which independent training can support the development of teacher competencies, especially in facing the challenges of curriculum changes based on independence and flexibility. The method used in this research is a descriptive approach with data collection techniques through interviews with teachers in several schools. The data collected was analysed qualitatively to obtain in-depth findings regarding teachers' perceptions of the self-training feature. The results showed that the majority of teachers have a positive perception of the self-training feature in PMM, considering it as a good tool to strengthen professional competencies, especially in technology-based teaching and a more flexible curriculum. However, there are some challenges such as limited time, resources, and access to technology that need to be considered. The conclusion of this study is that the self-training feature in PMM has great potential to support the development of teachers' competencies, but further support is needed from the school and government to make it more effective to overcome the existing obstacles, so that the use of this feature can be optimized in the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum.

Abstract

This study aims to explore elementary school teachers’ readiness and challenges in implementing local wisdom-based science learning through interactive pop-up book media. Contextual science learning that integrates local culture requires adequate teacher readiness in pedagogical competence, professional skills, and instructional media development. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach. The participants were elementary school teachers in Madura, Indonesia. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis. Data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model, consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. The findings reveal that most teachers possess conceptual awareness of the importance of integrating local wisdom into science learning; however, their practical readiness remains limited. Major challenges include insufficient skills in developing instructional media, limited time, lack of hands-on professional training, and inadequate institutional support. Interactive pop-up book media is perceived as highly potential to support local wisdom-based science learning, yet its implementation requires continuous teacher professional development and supportive school policies. This study recommends systematic capacity-building programs to enhance teachers’ competencies in developing and implementing innovative, culturally responsive science learning media.

Abstract

Professional counseling is fundamentally based on a trusting relationship, upheld by strict ethical principles such as confidentiality. While maintaining client confidentiality is a non-negotiable cornerstone of practice, counselors require effective, ethical techniques to facilitate meaningful change. This article explores the integrated use of two such powerful techniques: interpretation and body awareness strategies. Interpretation allows the counselor to offer insights and connect patterns in the client's thoughts and behaviors, while body awareness techniques help clients access and process unconscious emotions and trauma stored somatically. When combined, these strategies provide a holistic framework that bridges cognitive understanding and embodied experience. This article argues that this integration can significantly deepen client self-understanding and promote more profound therapeutic outcomes. The discussion includes the theoretical underpinnings of this approach, practical methods for its implementation, and its applicability within both individual and group counseling settings, all while adhering to the highest ethical standards of the profession.
