Abstract

This research addressed the gap in access to information and education, particularly in remote areas without permanent libraries. It examines the role of library delivery programs in enhancing literacy, providing equitable access to educational resources, and promoting lifelong learning in underserved communities. The study was conducted in Untia Village, a fishing community in Biringkanaya District, Makassar, Indonesia, with eleven informants. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings highlighted the implementation of the Library Delivery Program in Untia Village, evaluated across three key indicators. First, the program’s alignment with the community’s needs, particularly the fishing population, which is distant from regional libraries. Second, the compatibility of the program with the implementing group, notably students who serve the community. Third, the alignment between the program's objectives and the needs of the target group. Despite these positive indicators, the study revealed that the program has not yet reached its full potential in terms of implementation. This research has implications for global efforts to bridge information access gaps in rural and underserved communities. Future research could explore the scalability of library delivery programs in diverse cultural and geographic contexts, with a focus on refining implementation strategies and measuring long-term impacts on literacy and education.

Abstract

This study aims to provide a comprehensive overview of trends and developments in research on Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) using data sourced from the Scopus database. A bibliometric approach with descriptive analysis and social network mapping was employed to examine 590 articles published between 2019 and 2023. The data were processed and analyzed using VoSViewer to identify research patterns, key contributors, and thematic clusters. The findings revealed a significant annual increase in scholarly interest related to ICH. China, Spain, and the United Kingdom emerged as the top three contributing countries in terms of publication output and citation frequency. The analysis also indicates that ICH remains a complex field to preserve, influenced by modern settlement patterns that often disrupt traditional cultural practices. Furthermore, the study underscores the critical role of embracing alternative cosmologies and epistemologies in the evaluation of heritage projects, emphasizing the need to respect local cultural contexts. Co-word analysis identified "intangible cultural heritage," "cultural heritage," and "sustainability" as the dominant thematic clusters. These results suggest that future research should further explore interdisciplinary approaches to ICH, with particular attention to sustainable preservation and culturally sensitive frameworks.

Abstract

This study investigates the maintenance and utilization of records at the Archives and Library Service of Kebumen Regency. Employing a qualitative research design with a descriptive approach, data were collected from five informants using interviews, observation, and documentation techniques. The analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model, comprising data collection, reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed two main aspects: records utilization and records maintenance. Records utilization encompasses procedures for borrowing, terms of loan, and the process of returning records. In contrast, records maintenance involves activities such as recordkeeping, arrangement, storage, and media transfer. However, the study highlighted several challenges, including the absence of formal written regulations regarding borrowing terms—both for internal and external users—and the lack of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for filing and media transfer processes. Furthermore, the institution faced limitations in equipment and infrastructure necessary for the effective transfer of record media. These gaps indicated a need for policy development, procedural standardization, and investment in appropriate technologies to ensure proper records management. Strengthening these aspects is critical not only for improving administrative efficiency but also for supporting the preservation and accessibility of institutional memory within the public sector.

Abstract

This study presents a systematic literature review (SLR) of scholarly research published between 2014 and 2023, with the aim of identifying prevailing trends, methodological approaches, and contextual factors surrounding the use of Machine Learning (ML) models for records classification within Records Management and Archival Science. Employing the PRISMA framework, the review analyzes a curated selection of studies to assess the scope and maturity of ML applications in this domain. The findings revealed that while ML has been increasingly explored for tasks such as classification and appraisal, its application remains geographically skewed, with the majority of studies originating from Global North countries. The models employed range from probabilistic and regression-based algorithms to decision tree classifiers, reflecting diverse but largely traditional methodological approaches. The adoption of more sophisticated techniques, including deep learning and large language models, was still limited. The study underscores a critical research gap concerning the implementation of advanced ML models, particularly in the context of Global South institutions, where such technologies could significantly enhance recordkeeping efficiency and scalability. This review highlights the need for further empirical studies that develop and evaluate cutting-edge ML models in diverse archival contexts, promoting more inclusive and globally representative innovation in archival automation.
