Abstract

Abstract: This correlational research is aimed to find out whether there is a correlation between vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension’s ability of the fifth semester students of English Study Program FKIP-UR. The sample was 28 students selected through cluster random sampling. The instruments used in this research were the vocabulary and reading TOEFL test items. The research finding revealed that the vocabulary mastery test result of the fifth semester students of English Study Program FKIP-UR was at the good level (75), and their reading comprehension’s ability was at good level (69) also. Based on Pearson correlation analysis, it was obtained that the correlation coefficient between the students’ vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension’s ability was 0.876 with the sig. value=0.00. Hence, it could be concluded that there was a very high correlation between the vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension’s ability of the fifth semester students of English Study Program FKIP-UR. As a consequence, the null hypothesis was rejected and alternative hypothesis was accepted.Key Words: Correlation, Vocabulary Mastery, Reading Comprehension’s Ability

Abstract

Abstract: The aim of this research is to know whether there is a relationship between self esteem and resilience in street children in Payung Sekaki District Pekanbaru City. The population of this research is street children in Payung Sekaki District Pekanbaru City 2-6 years old that consists of 32 children, the samples of this research are 32 street children which taken by using technique of sampling is saturated. Method of this research is Pearson Product Moment relationship to know the relationship between self esteem and resilience in street children in Payung Sekaki District Pekanbaru City. The technique of collecting data used observation sheet in Likert scale form. The technique of analyzing data used scale test and statistic analytical by using SPSS program for Windows ver. 23. Based on hypothesis there is any significant positive relationship between self esteem and resilience in street children in Payung Sekaki District Pekanbaru City. It could be seen from the result of relationship coefficient that rxy = 0,712 and significant level is 0,0000,05. The level of relationship between self esteem and resilience is in the middle category with the rank of determinant coefficient in the amount 50,8%, it means that self esteem affect resilience as much as 50,8%.Key Words: Self Esteem, Resilience

Abstract

Abstract: This research aim is to determine the effect of education costs on interest in continuing study at economic eduation study program of FKIP UNRI in student class XII IPS of State High School in Tualang District, 2018. This research used Purposive Sampling technique, which aims to determine the sample intentionally, in this research using the criteria of student which have an interest to continue study in Economic Education Study Program in FKIP UNRI of students class XII IPS at State High School with A accreditation in Tualang District Sample in this research is 73 respondent. Data analysis technique used is the classic assumption test used is the normality test. The hypothesis test used is simple linear regression with the help of SPSS version 19.0 and calculation using the formula manually. The result of reseacrh show that there is a positive and significant of education costs perception on interest in continuing study at economic education study program of FKIP UNRI in student class XII IPS State High School in Tualang District, 2018. This is evidenced by a simple linear regression analysis which obtained an Adjusted R Square value of 0.076, which can be interpreted the effect of Education Cost on the Interest in Continuing study in Economic Education Study Program is 7.6%. This means that when education costs are included in the affordable category according to students and parents, it will increase the interest of students to continue their study at Economic Education Study Program FKIP UNRI.Key Words: Interest in Continuing Study, Education Costs

Abstract

Abstract: This research is aimed at finding out whether or not there is a significant effect of using comic strips as media in teaching writing of the second year students of SMP Tribhakti Pekanbaru in the Academic Year 2018/2019 in writing recount text. The research design is pre-experimental research with one group pre-test – treatment – post-test design. The sample of the research was 30 students VIII 1 chosen by using cluster random sampling technique. The data were collected by giving the writing test about recount text (pre-test and post-test) to the students. The data were analyzed by using t-test formula. The results of data analysis showed that the mean score of posttest was higher than the mean score of pretest (60.05 > 53.72). The value of t-test was 12.441 while the value of t-table in significance level 5% df = 29 was 2.045. Since the value of the t-test was higher than t-table, it can be concluded that Alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and Null Hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. It means that there was a significant effect of using comic strips as media on the ability in writing recount texts of the second year students at SMP Tribhakti Pekanbaru. It suggested that comic strips worked to improve students’ writing ability, especially in writing recount texts as media.Key Words: Comic Strips, Writing ability, Recount Text

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to determine the effect of cooperative learning model number head together (nht) on the economic learning outcomes of XI IPS class students of SMAN 2 Siak Hulu. This research was conducted at SMAN 2 Siak Hulu 2018/2019 academic year. This research is in the form of a quasi-exspremental experiment. The population of this study amounted to 187 students from 6 classes while the study sample amounted to 61 students. For the experimental class there were 31 students and for the control class there were 31 students with sampling using the multystage method. The research instruments used were learning devices (syllabus, RPP, LKPD) and data collection tools (pretest and poststest, observation and documentation sheets). Analysis of the two groups used homogeneity test, t-test and achievement data test (N-GAIN). From the results of the analysis it was found that at the first meeting the average teacher activity was 66.67%, at the second meeting 87.50% and at the third meeting 95.83%. While the average student activity at the first meeting was 58.33%, at the second meeting 66.67% and at the third meeting 83.33%. Furthermore, the results of the homogeneity test found that the Levene Statistic value for both classes was 0.004 and it can be said that the posstest data of the two classes was homogeneous. Then from the results of the t test found at 4.176 and the significance level of P 0.000. These results indicate the poststest level of the two classes is different. To see the effect of cooperative learning model number head together (nht) on the economic learning outcomes of students using the N-GAIN test of the N-GAIN value obtained by 0.40 lies in the score 0.7> gain> 0.3. While the magnitude of the increase in the experimental class learning outcomes was 16.81 (30.70%) and the control class increased by 7.77 (13.77%). It can be concluded that the cooperative learning model number head together (nht) has an effect on the learning outcomes of the experimental class students in the moderate and feasible category to be considered as one of the learning models used in the learning process.Key Words: cooperative learning model number head together (nht), learning Achievement

Abstract

Abstract : The objective of this research is to find out types of errors made by the first year students of English Study Program FKIP Universitas Riau in writing recount text. This is a descriptive research The participants of this research were 17 students of class A. The students were selected to be the sample using cluster sampling technique. The writer collected the data by using using writing test which the topic given is “Unforgettable Experience”. The result of this research showed that the students committed error into four types: error of omission, error of addition, error of formation, and error of ordering. From the frequency of each error types, error of formation was the error which most frequently produced by the students. It took 71.90% of the total errors. Moreover, 19.53% errors fell into error of omission and 5.10% errors fell into error of ordering; whereas, for error of addition, it only took 3.47%Keywords: Error, Writing, Recount text.

Abstract

Abstract: This research aims is determinate to find out The Influence of Teacher Communication Toward Student Critical Thinking Ability. The study was conducted at SMAN 1 Sabak Auh. With a population of 45 students and all populations sampled. The research data was collected by using a questionnaire and the subsequent documentation was analyzed using simple linear regression. The result showed that teacher communication in carrying out learning included good and verry good categories, while students’ criticcal thingking ability were in the moderate category. From the result of simple linear regression analysis it can be seen that there is an influence of teacher communication on students’ critical thingking ability with a contribution of 38,6 %. This means that the better the teacher’s communication in learning will also increase the level of students’ critical thingking ability. Therefore it is expected that the teacher will continue to improve multi-way communication in the learning procces so that it can also improve students’ critical thingking ability.Key Words: Teacher Communication, Student Critical Thinking Ability

Abstract

Abstract: The purposes of research are to know the improvement of student learning achievement and value of influence by implementing Peer Led Guided Inquiry (PLGI) learning model on the atomic structure subject in the class X MIA MAN 2 Model Pekanbaru. The from of the study was an experiment with a randomizedControl Group Pretest-Posttest. The sample in the X MIA 4class experimental class and the X MIA 3 a the control class randomly determined after the normality test and homogeneity test. The experimental class was treated with the application of learning Peer Led Guided Inquiry (PLGI) namely, data analisysis for hypothesis testing is done using the right-party t-test. Based on the results of data analysis obtained thitung = 9,5thitungand ttable = 1,67. And obtained that t count>ttable= 9,5> andttable = 1,67means the applicationof PLGI learning model can improve student learning outcomes on the subject of atomic struktur.Key Words : Learning Model Peer Led Guided Inquiry (PLGI), Learning Achievement, Atomic Structure

Abstract

Abstract: This research aimed to find out whether there is any significant effect of using jigsaw method on the students’ reading comprehension of descriptive texts. This research was conducted at Pharmacy Vocational High School Pekanbaru from November August to September 2018. The population was all of first year students in academic year of 2018/2019. The number of the entire population was 266. The writer used cluster random sampling technique to determine the sample. The participant of this research was 35 students of X.5 class. This research consisted of 6 experiment meetings. The instrument of the research was multiple choice test. In analyzing the data, the writer used a statistical analysis. The writer used t-test to compare the difference of students’ score in pre-test and post-test. The mean score of the students before the treatment was 67.8571. The mean score of the students after the treatment was 80.4286. Moreover, from the statistical analysis, it was found out the T-test score (11.7) was higher than T-table (1.69). The finding showed that there was significant effect of jigsaw method on the students reading comprehension of descriptive texts. Based on this finding, it is suggested that Jigsaw method can be used by the teacher as an alternative method in the teaching of reading.Key Words: Jigsaw Method, Reading Comprehension, Descriptive Texts.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to determine the level of profitability of the lanting cracker home industry in Pasir Penyu District. The population in this study was the home industry of lanting crackers in Pasir Penyu Subdistrict totaling 8 home industries, and which were sampled as many as 8 lanting cracker home industries, with the sampling technique using total sampling. Measurement of data using interviews. Analysis of the data used is descriptive analysis. The results of the descriptive research show that from the calculation of profitability in the home of the lanting cracker industry in Pasir Penyu Subdistrict, the cost of production costs around Rp. 800,000 - Rp. 1,800,000 per month. The profit earned by the home of the lanting cracker industry can reach IDR 900,000 - IDR 2,500,000 per month depending on the cost of production, product prices, and the number of products. Profitability in the lanting cracker home industry that uses direct distribution channels has a profit of IDR3,517 while the lanting cracker home industry that uses an indirect distribution channel is only IDR2,468.Key Words: Profitability, Industrial Home Products
