Abstract

Abstract: As a productive skill, writing is considered a difficult subject for the students. It needs practicing to improve the ability. It is important for English learners of education faculty to acquire writing as a basic skill to face the global needs of communication in future life. Since expository is the common type of writing used in university, the students are expected to be able to write a good expository writing. This descriptive quantitative research is aimed at finding out the ability of the fourth semester students of English Study Program, FKIP-Universitas Riau in writing an expository essay. The samples of the research are 34 fourth semester students in academic year of 2017/2018 who are chosen by using cluster random sampling technique. The data are obtained from students’ performance in expository writing. There are 5 topics provided with several types of essay development; descriptive, chronological order, cause & effect, comparison & contrast and persuasion in which the students have to choose one to hand in. The time allocation is 120 minutes for the entire test. The data are graded by four raters by using analytical scoring system that assesses some aspects of writing; grammar, vocabulary, mechanics, fluency and organization. The finding shows that the students have good ability level in writing an expository essay with the mean score of 67,90. Besides, it is found out that the students’ ability in terms of organization is the highest among other aspects with the mean score of 72,50. The lowest score is in terms of mechanics with the mean score of 65,44. This study suggests that the students need to do more practice and be concerned more toward every aspect of writing, particularly in terms of mechanics and grammar.Keywords: Study, Writing Ability, Expository Essay

Abstract

Abstract: This research is a class action research that aims to improve the learning process and to increase mathematics achievement from the student’s with applied Discovery Learning model. The research was conducted in class VIII5 SMP Negeri 8 Pekanbaru in the even semester of the 2018/2019 academic year. The subject of this research consist of 39 students, there are 19 male students and 20 female students. This research has two cycles with each cycle has three meetings and one test. The instruments used in this research were learning instruments and the instruments of collecting data. The learning instruments used include syllabus, lesson plan, and student work sheets. The instruments of collecting data were observation sheets and learning outcome test. The data analysis of students and teacher activity showed that the learning process has improved after the discovery learning model being implemented. The data of the student’s evaluation test showed that the persentage of students reached the Minimum Mastery Criteria (MMC) increase from the basic score to first test, from first test to second test. The results of this research showed an increasing of students achievement where the basic score 10,3% to the first test 38,5%, the second test 761,5%. For the skills achievement score of the first test 33,3%, the second test 59,0%. This research concludes that the implementation of Discovery Learning improved the learning process and the student’s mathematical achievement at class VIII5 SMP Negeri 8 Pekanbaru.Key Words: Mathematics Achievement, Discovery Learning Model, Class Action Research

Abstract

Abstrack : The objectives of this research were to know the effect of learning facilities that used by student of class X, dan XI IPS in SMAN 1 Teluk Kuantan Kecamatan Kuantan Tengah Kabupaten Kuantan Singingi. The population of this research was the class X dan XI IPS SMAN 1 Teluk Kuantan amount 209 people and the sample amount 137 people. The collected data used questionnaire and documentation. Data analysis of this research used simle linier regression. Research result based on simple linier regression showed that the using of learning facilities influence on student learning outcomes of class X dan XI IPS in SMAN 1 Teluk Kuantan this can be seen from a constant value (a) of 46,000 and the value coefisien regression (b) of 0,351 with a regresiion equation 46,000 + 0,351. According the calculation of R (R squer change) obtained a value of 0,392. It means that the contribution of the influence of the use learning facilities on learning outcomes by 39,2%.Key word : Learning facilities, learning outcomes

Abstract

Abstract : This study was conducted in Early Childhood Education of Kelurahan Pandau Jaya District Siak Hulu Kampar. The population in this study were teachers of Early Childhood Education of Kelurahan Pandau Jaya District Siak Hulu Kampar academic year 2015/2016 a total of 50 teachers. The sample of 20 teachers. While the sampling technique based nomogram Harry King. To uncover the implementation of the scientific techniques used questionnaires. Data were analyzed using descriptive data analysis techniques. Abstract

Abstrack : The research carried out base on the lowly of the result of math subject in grade 4th SDN 131 Pekanbaru which is about 68,94 within minimal completeness criterion stated is 70. Among 33 student, there was only 15 students were able to achieve the score of minimal completeness criterion stated. The purpose of this research is to improve student’s achievemet on math of the fourth graders in SDN131 Pekanbaru with the application ofproblem based learning. This research was classroom action research consisting 2 cycles within 4 procedures : planning, doing, observing, and reflecting and each cycle consist of three meeting. Instruments on this research are syllabus, lesson plan, and student work sheet. Instrument for collecting data are observation sheet and test. Data which was collected were learning outcomes and teacher’s activities during lessons. After implementation of contextual teaching and learning model it was abtained student’s outcomes in UH I within average 68,94 basic score 2,03%. The average score form UH II was 78,45 (improved 13,7%). Teachers activities results in the first meeting of the first cycle was 65% (good category), and then 70% (good category) for the second meeting in cycle I. Meanwhile in the first meeting of the second cycle was 95% (very good category) and then 100% (very good category) for second meeting in cycle II. Students activity in the first meeting of the cycle I was 67,5% (fair category), 70% (good category) for the second meeting in the cycle I. And then in the first meeting of the second cycle was 95% (veri good category), 100% (very good category) for the second meeting in cycle II. Based on the result it can be concluded that implementation of problem based learningmodel can math in fourth graders at SDN 131 PekanbaruKeywords : Problem based learning, Students Achievement the Result Of math Studies.

Abstract

Abstract: This research describe the translation technique and method whichapplied on translating Hiroaki Kato’s song lyrics from Indonesia language to Japanlanguage and the translation equivalence of it in 2018. The songs are Jauh di Mata dekatdi Hati, Meraih Bintang dan Bright As The Sun. The theories used in this research are translation technique according to Molina and Albir (2002), translation method according to Newmark (1998) and equivalence translation according to Nida and Taber (1982) .The data were analyzed with qualitative-distibutive method. Data analysisc tehcnique used in this research are literature study method and documentation technique The results of this research show that from 44 translation unit, 3 datas are borrowing, 1 data is description, 1 data is compensation, 4 datas are particularization, 26 datas aremodulation and 9 datas are transpotition. While the orientation of the translation method is the target language and dynamic equivalence as the translation equivalence.Key Words: Translation, Technique, Method, Equivalence

Abstract

Abstract: The problem in this research was is still lack of speed T kick on students silat walet puti pekanbaru. It is suspected lack of leg muscle explosive power at the time of the T kick. The purpose of this study to determine the correlation of leg muscle explosive power with the speed of a T kick. This is correlational study that aimed to know corelation between independent and dependent variabels. After that, conducted data normality test by Liliefors test with significant level α = 0.05, and the result for normality test of variable X, L0maks ((0,121) <Ltable(0,258), the normality test of variable Y, L0maks (0,208)<Ltable (0,258), in other words the distribution of the data was normal. Then continued to found r used product moment correlation analysis, if rresult > rtable so it was have significant correlation. The result of this research showed: it was significant correlation between leg muscle explosive power with the speed of a T kick, rresult ((0,703) > rtable (0,666). The conclusion was have significant correlation between leg musle explosive power with speed T kick in pencak silat athletes sons walet puti Pekanbaru.Keywords: Explosive power leg muscle, Speed T kick

Abstract

Abstract: Focused problem on this research is the low result of students achievement of mathematics learning. This is affected by convension learning method applied by teacher. Mathematic learning process only explain the subject without interact to student to solve the problem on math it self and not making math problem as real life acitivity. Beside the less active student and less chance for student to deliver his opinions. Its resulted on the student that easier to forget the explanation of the subject that they have learn. As the problem on student math result need to research applicable PMRI approach.Research of Classroom Action Research (CAR) with the goal of improving student learning result for IVD grade of SDN 163 Pekanbaru. Research conducted on 3 cycle. Each cycle consist of twice meetings and atthe end of each cycle repeated daily. Research data taken from observation teacher activity and students activity while learning and result of test at the end of the cycle.Average students learning result mathematic score was 53.11, onthe first cycleaverage score increase to21.4 became 74.51, on thesecond cycleincreaseinto 9.06 became 83.57, on the third cycle increase 3.48 became 87.05.Total increasing from basic score to UH 3 is 63,90%. Mastery learning of students on basis of a score is 23,68%, on the cycle I daily test passed percentage is 71,42%, in the daily test on second cycle passed percentagre is II is 84,21%, and in the daily test on cycle III is 89,47%. On the other side teacher activity on cycle I is 66.66% by category is good. The cycle IIis 77.77% by category is good and the cycle III is 88,89% by category is very good categorized. In the student activity percentage in first cycle was 59,71% by category was enough , in the second cycle 74,99% by category was good and the third cycle 86,10% by category was very good. Based on the research we can conclude that PMRI approaching can increase the result of mathematic subject for student at IVD grade SD Negeri 163 PekanbaruKeyword : Application of PMRI, Math Learning ResultWisuda Oktober

Abstract

Abstract: This study was conducted to determine the learning outcome of students by implementing Discovery Learning based on image media. This research was done in class VII B SMP Negeri 3 Bangko the school year 2015/2016. This research is a classroom action research conducted in two cycles of planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The data collected in this study is the student learning outcomes that consist of cognitive (absorption and completeness of student learning), affective and psychomotor aspects and activities of teachers. Data were collected using a written test and observation sheet. The results showed that students learning outcomes consist of cognitive (absorption and completeness of student learning), affective and psychomotor aspects and activities of teachers has increased. Cognitive aspects of absorption seen in the first cycle is 79.79% (enough) increased in the second cycle into 82.67% (excellent). Mastery learning students remains 100% (category complete), both the first cycle and the second cycle. Average of affective aspects in cycle I is 73.80% (enough) increased in the second cycle into 85.22% (excellent). Average psychomotor aspects in cycle I is 82.56% (good) increased in the second cycle into 91.86% (excellent). The average activities of teachers in the first cycle is 93.19% (excellent) increased in the second cycle to 100% (excellent). It can be concluded that the application of Discovery Learning based on image media can improve learning outcomes grade science students VII B SMP Negeri 3 Bangko the school year 2015/2016.Keywords: Discovery Learning, image media, Learning outcomes

Abstract

Abstract : This descriptive research was aimed to find out the ability of the second year students of SMPN 38 Pekanbaru in comprehending recount texts. The research data were collected from March to April 2017. The subject of this research was class VIII-1 which consisted of 30 students. The data were collected by administering a test to the students in the form of multiple choice test. Based on the data analysis it was found out that the highest score obtained by the students was in finding social function with the mean score of 78.66 which categorized into good level, and the lowest score was in finding meaning of vocabulary with the mean score of 50.33 which categorized into mediocre level. As a conclusion, the ability of the second year students in reading comprehension was in the good level with the mean score of 65.3. The implication of the finding is that the students should increase their comprehension in order to reach excellent level.Keywords: Reading Ability, Comprehending Recount Texts.
