Abstract

Abstract: Writing an abstract is one of the important components that must be included in a thesis or research article, but in fact, it is difficult to do. The purpose of this research was to identify difficulties in writing informative abstracts in Jurnal Online Mahasiswa Universitas Riau. This research used a qualitative approach, and the research design is content or document analysis. The data was taken from 40 Jurnal Online Mahasiswa Universitas Riau in the last 4 years (2019–2022). The results showed that the percentage of rhetorical moves in Move 1 (Introduction) was 20%, Move 2 (Purpose), Move 3 (Method), and Move 5 (Conclusion) was 97.5%, while Move 4 (Product) was 95%. Furthermore, in the writing aspects, there are 80% of documents that use formal vocabulary, formal verbs, and full verbs. Then, only 47.5% of the documents use formal grammar structures; 77.5% of the abstracts used statements; 52.5% use impersonal language; 62.5% of the abstracts analyzed were precise; 75% use hedging statements; and 70% of the abstracts used transition words. The conclusion is that there are difficulties in writing an abstract framework in move 1 (introduction), and formal grammar structure is the most difficult writing aspect that students experienced.Key Words: Difficulty, Informative Abstract, Writing

Abstract

Abstract : One of the problems faced in Indonesia is the weakness of the learning process where currently students are not encouraged to develop their thinking skills, and learning in class is only directed at memorizing information without being required to understand what they remember. One way that is considered to be able to overcome problems in the teaching and learning process is by applying the SQ3R cooperative model (survey, question, read, recite, review). This study aims to describe and find out the differences in students' mastery of concepts using the SQ3R cooperative model and conventional learning. The type of research used was a Quasi Experiment with a Posttest Only Design, namely using one experimental class and one control class. The sampling technique used is simple random sampling. The sample in this study were students of SMPN 6 Siak Hulu with class VII 4 as the experimental class and class VII 5 as the control class. The research data was collected by giving a test in the form of a posttest which totaled 10 questions which were analyzed descriptively and to see the increase in students' mastery of concepts using SPSS 23 as an inferential analysis. The results of the research from the descriptive and inferential analysis showed that there was a difference in the students' mastery of the concepts in the experimental class and the control class, the average score of the experimental class was higher than that of the control class. It can be concluded from this study that the SQ3R cooperative model can improve students' mastery of concepts at SMPN 6 Siak Hulu.Keywords: Concept Mastery, SQ3R Cooperative model, Solar System.

Abstract

Abstract : Understanding is the level of ability expected by someone in understanding the meaning of the concept. Understanding the concept is a very important part in the learning process. The purpose of this study is to find out that the application of the predict-observe explain (poe) learning model can be an alternative solution to improve students' understanding of physics concepts. This study uses a quasi-experimental research method with a "posttest only control group design" research design. The affordable population is all students of class X MIA MAN 3 Pekanbaru in the 2021/2022 academic year, totaling 144 students. The sample in this study amounted to 72 students consisting of class X MIA 2 as the control class which amounted to 36 students and X MIA 3 as the experimental class which amounted to 36 students. The instrument used is a test of understanding the concept of Newton's Law material. This test refers to 7 indicators of concept understanding according to Widodo. The test questions consist of 21 multiple choice questions and 4 essay questions. After the test, the data on the results of students' understanding of the concept will be presented with descriptive analysis and inferential analysis. This descriptive analysis is seen through the absorption of students. In this inferential analysis using three tests with the help of SPSS version 24, namely normality test, homogeneity test and hypothesis testing with non parametric Mann Whitney. The results showed that the experimental class students' conceptual understanding data by applying the POE learning model had a significant difference than the control class which only used conventional learning.Keywords: Concept Understanding, POE Learning Model, Experimental Method, Newton's Law

Abstract

Abstract: There are many different dialects in Japan. One of them is Fukui dialect. Fukui dialect is part of the Hokuriku dialect located in Fukui Prefecture, Chubu Region, Honshu Island. The grammar of Fukui dialect in many aspects reflects the Kansai dialect. Fukui dialect has a characteristic that there is a distinctive intonation that often appears at the end of a sentence, and accent is not a determinant of word meaning like most other dialects. The problem in this study is how the Fukui dialect is seen morphologically and it’s equivalent in standard Japanese. The research data is taken from the Chihayafuru anime by Yuki Suetsugu. Research result will be collected and analyzed. The result of this study found 20 data containing the suffix, negation, adverbial, adversative, demonstrative, and adjective.Key Words: Fukui dialect, morphology.

Abstract

Abstract: English is a foreign language in Indonesia. English is important because it is the international language. During classroom activities, teachers and students switched from English to Indonesian and other local languages. This research aims to analyze code- collected using an observation checklist and recording to gather the data in the use of code switching used by an English teacher of SMA Negeri 1 Tambusai. This research used qualitative research method with descriptive qualitative. The data for this research were switching in the classroom. The subject of the study is the English teacher of the twelfth grade students. After collecting the data, the data were analyzed through some steps namely data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing. The result of this research showed there are two types of code switching used by an English teacher of SMA Negeri 1 Tambusai. The most common types which occurred in teacher’s utterance are situational code-switching with nine data, the second common type which is metaphorical code-switching with one data. There are two forms of code switching used by English teacher. The most common form which occurred in teacher’s utterance is internal code-switching with sixteen data and then the second common form is external code-switching with ten data.Key Words: Code-Switching, Descriptive Qualitative Method, English Teaching Process.

Abstract

Abstract: The development of this Android-based audiovisual as an alternative to student learning in developing football passing skills in terms of learning styles and variation models applied. The aim of this research is a solution to help students learn through an Android application in the form of audiovisual. The subjects used in this research were students of SMP IT Darul Fiy Azkya Pekanbaru, 8 subjects in small groups and 30 subjects in large groups. This type of research is research and development to produce descriptive products. The results of this survey show that from the results of the assessment of materials experts, namely 95% and media experts, and based on the results of large group trials, namely 90%. The developed product is in the form of audiovisuals that focus on developing football passing. Based on the feasibility test, the 79% value is categorized as achievable and the test results are assigned a 95% value with achievable category.Key Words: Audiovisual, Android Mobile, Football Passing

Abstract: This article aims to analyze language errors in outdoor media in Pekanbaru City. There are still many errors in the writing of outdoor media so that it is a special concern for researchers to conduct this research. This research was conducted in a qualitative descriptive manner with the collection of observational data and documentation. Open data sources in the form of outdoor media in Pekanbaru City. The results showed that there were errors in writing punctuation marks, writing capital letters, writing level numbers, writing prepositions or prepositions, writing abbreviations, and titles.Keywords: language errors, outdoor media, pekanbaru city

Abstract

Abstract: Classical guidance is an assistance service for students that is given to a number of students with classical guidance service activities that are provided systematically, are preventive in nature and provide internal understanding and understanding of others that lead to learning, personal, career and social. This study aims to determine the effect of classical guidance to increase the adversity quotient (fighting power) of students at SMA Negeri 1 Tambang before and after being given services. This type of research is experimental research. This study used a one-group pretest-posttest design. The research subjects were 32 students of class XI IPA who had a low adversity quotient based on the adversity quotient scale measurement. This study uses the Wilcoxone test and the Spearman Rank test. For the analysis using SPSS Version 25. The results showed an increase, difference and influence of classical guidance in increasing the Adversity Quotient of students at SMAN 1 Tambang.Key Words: Influence, Classical Guidance, Adversity Quotient.

Abstract

Abstract: The research was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Rengat with a purpose of examining the effect of storytelling technique in enhancing the students speaking skills. The method used in executing the research was pre-experimental design, specifically one-group pre-test post-test design. The tenth grade students that include 32 students were taken as the sample by using cluster random sampling technique. The procedures in conducting the research were started by delivering the pre-test, followed by applying the treatment, and then deploying the post-test as the last step. The treatment was conducted by teaching with storytelling method through an online platform (Zoom). The result of the data analysis showed that the mean score of the pre-test is 67.5 and the average score of the post-test is 85.5. Moreover, the value of the t-test is higher than the t-table (8.44 > 1.670), which means the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, whereas the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. The difference between the mean score of the pre-test and the post-test as well as the hypothesis testing result clearly point out that there is a significant effect of storytelling in improving the students speaking skills.Key Words: Speaking, Speaking Skills, Storytelling.

Abstract

Abstract: This research was conducted in May - June 2022 with the aim of knowing the bivalve community structure in the mangrove area of Tanah Merah Village for the design of handouts as biology teaching materials for class X. This research was carried out in the mangrove area of Tanah Merah Village for bivalve sampling while for identification of bivalves carried out at the Laboratory of the Biology Education Study Program, PMIPA FKIP Department, Riau University. The parameters measured in this study were species composition, abundance, diversity, dominance, temperature, salinity, pH, sediment type, and organic matter. The research method used was a survey method, where sampling samples used the squared transect method. At the study site, 3 (three) observation stations were determined, three transects were drawn at each station, where each transect was placed in a 5m x 5m square plot. Based on the research results, 3 species of bivalves were found, namely Anadara granosa Phapia textile, and Geloma erosa. Bivalve abundance values obtained between stations ranged from 0.57-0.89 ind/m2. The index value of species diversity ranges from 0.68-1.51, which is classified as moderate and the dominance index value ranges from 0.37-0.71. The results of the study can be used as an alternative teaching material in the form of handouts in class X high school biology learning.Key Word : Bivalve, Handout, Structure Community
