Abstract

Waste is a national problem which the management system needs to be carried out in a comprehensive and integrated manner in order to provide economic benefits, healthy for the community and safe for the environment. The type of waste that needs to be managed properly and correctly is household waste. One of the factors that influence the success of household waste management is the knowledge, attitude and good behavior of housewives. This study aims to determine the effect of knowledge and attitudes on waste management behavior among housewives in Patokan Village, Situbondo Regency. This study used an analytic observational research design with a cross sectional design. The research sample amounted to 30 people criteria using total sampling technique. The instruments used are questionnaires and observation sheets. Analysis of research results using ordinal logistic regression test. Based on the results of the ordinal logistic regression test, it was found that the significant value was 0.195. So, it can be concluded that there is no effect of knowledge and attitudes on waste management behavior in housewives in Patokan Village, Situbondo Regency. It is expected that housewives provide trash bins that meet the requirements and maintain environmental cleanliness by not burning garbage.

Abstract

Found factors that affect work productivity such as complaints of fatigue and the physical environment that feels stuffy and lack of lighting. This study aims to determine the factors that affect work productivity on embroidery tailors at CV. Subur Makmur Fern Embroidery Palace, Malang Regency. This study use an analytical research design with a cross sectional approach. The research sample consisted of 15 embroidery tailors. Analysis of research results used ordinal logistic regression test. The result shows that the significant value is 0.045. So it can be concluded that there is an influence on the variables of age, motivation, years of service and lighting on the embroidery tailor at CV. Subur Makmur Fern Embroidery Palace, Malang Regency. For this reason, it is recommended to add artificial light such as lamps at several points in the room, adjust the distance from the table and routine health checks for all workers

Abstract

Final Disposal Site (TPA) The existence of a waste Final Processing Site (TPA) has the potential to be a source of water pollution. This study is a descriptive study, the sample used in this study is water used by the community around the Talumelito TPA location, which was taken at 5 different points. The results showed that of the 5 water samples taken, the pH, temperature, and TDS parameters met the requirements, while for turbidity, there were 2 samples taken from point 2 and point 3 that did not meet the requirements because they had a turbidity value of 26.7 NTU, and 26.9 NTU. This result is not in accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia Number 32 of 2017, namely the NAV for water turbidity is 25 NTU. The conclusion of this study is that the turbidity for the samples obtained from point 2 and point 3, which is clean water consumed daily by the people in that place, does not meet the requirements. Meanwhile, the parameters of pH, temperature, and TDS in water taken from 5 sampling locations met the requirements.

Abstract

Disposal of detergent waste into water bodies, both rivers and seas will affect the biota in the water. The effect of laundry detergent waste on tilapia mortality has a significant effect and difference at each concentration. The higher the concentration of detergent waste, the higher the mortality of tilapia. The physiological index of tilapia has a significant effect on the exposure to detergent waste. Detergent wastewater treatment methods are needed as an alternative to solving the problem of wastewater treatment before being discharged into the environment. The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of limestone and coconut shell filter media in reducing the content of detergent, BOD and COD pollutants in wastewater. The research method is a quasi-experimental approach with a pre-test – post-test design approach. The population and sample of this research are wastewater taken from laundry or used laundry in Paal Dua village, Manado city. The results showed a reduction in detergent content from 29.98 mg/l to 0.08 mg/l with a percentage reaching 99.69%. The parameters of BOD and COD decreased by 57.5% and 76.16%, respectively. Based on the results of the T test, there are differences in the average results of measurements before and after processing. Conclusion : Limestone and coconut shell can be used as alternative filter media for detergent wastewater treatment.

Abstract

Flood disaster preparedness is a series of activities undertaken in anticipation of disasters by doing organized plans in appropriate and efficient steps. Good knowledge and attitude will be one of the most important factors on the community and they have relationship in the preparedness of flash flood as the disaster. The purpose of this study is to determine the relation between knowledge and public attitude on flash flood disaster preparedness. This research method used a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample of this research was 72 respondents. Determination of the sample using probability sampling technique by proportioning the number of samples using proportional stratified random sampling technique. Tha Statistical test used was chi-square test. Based on the study found the results that there was a relation between knowledge on flood disaster preparedness, p=0.043. Attitude in preparedness is p=0.048. Facilities and infrastructure in flood disaster preparedness is p = 0.000. The most risky factors for flash flood disaster preparedness are knowledge and attitudes with a significant value of knowledge p = 0.043 and attitude p = 0.048. So, it can be concluded that there is a relation between knowledge and public attitudes on flash flood disaster preparedness

Abstract

The house fly (Musca domestica) is a mechanical vector that has perfect morphology. The use of repellents generally does not directly kill insects but functions as a repellent against the presence of insects. Mint leaves (Mentha spicata) contain volatile oil compounds and chemicals including myrcene, L-Limonene, Cis-Dhydrocarvone and L-Carvone. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of spearmint leaves (Mentha spicata) as a house fly repellent (Musca domestica). This type of research is Quasi Experiment which consists of 3 experimental groups and 1 control group. This research was conducted at the Entomology and Parasitology Laboratory, Department of Environmental Health, Health Polytechnic, Manado Health Department. The sample used in the study was 200 individuals, data analysis using the One Way Anova test. The independent variable in this study was spearmint leaf (Mentha spicata) and the dependent variable was the house fly (Musca domestica). The results obtained from observations for 26 minutes were the number of flies that arrived at the control was 41, at 1 gram 1 tail, at 2 gram 34 and at 3 gram 34. Based on the results of the One Way Anova test, p value = 0.010 0, 05 which means Ho is rejected and there is no significant difference between 1 gram, 2 gram and 3 gram controls. The treatment dose that reached the standard of repellant protection was 1 gram with a protective power of 98%, further research is needed using the spearmint leaf extract method.
