Abstract

Critical thinking skills are essential competencies that need to be developed from an early age, as they play a vital role in the processes of analysis, problem-solving, and decision-making. Study aimed to develop and examine the effectiveness of the innovative traditional game "Congkalak Edukatif" in stimulating critical thinking and social skills among 5–6-year-old children during Prasiaga Scout activities at TK IT Asshiddiq. The research method employed was Research and Development (R&D) using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The subjects of this study were children aged 5–6 years participating in Prasiaga Scout activities. The results indicated that the implementation of the Congkalak Edukatif game significantly enhanced children's critical thinking abilities, as evidenced by the increased posttest scores compared to the pretest in the aspects of analysis, problem-solving, and decision-making. Furthermore, this game was also effective in developing children's social skills, such as communication skills, cooperation, sportsmanship, and emotional regulation in social interactions. The enjoyable, socially interactive play experience provided by the Congkalak Edukatif game encouraged children to learn teamwork, understand rules, and build empathy towards their peers. Thus, Congkalak Edukatif can serve as an innovative and effective learning media alternative for improving critical thinking and social skills in early childhood, particularly within Prasiaga Scout activities. This article makes a significant contribution to the development of future science by introducing Congklak media as an innovative media that has been proven to be effective in stimulating critical thinking skills and social skills in early childhood, thus opening a new paradigm in learning practices that integrate aspects of analysis, problem solving, decision making, and social interaction from preschool age.

Abstract

Bullying is not a new phenomenon, yet its prevention and management must be pursued in a continuous, collaborative, and systematic manner, particularly through character education, active teacher involvement, and support from families and communities. This study aims to explore the forms of bullying behavior and their implications for character development among students at UPT SPF SD Negeri Sangir, Makassar. Using a qualitative descriptive approach in the form of a case study, data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving 12 informants, including students, teachers, and parents. The results show that bullying occurs in almost all grade levels, predominantly in the forms of verbal and physical abuse. The impacts of bullying are highly significant on student character, affecting victims—who tend to become passive, anxious, and lack self-confidence—as well as perpetrators—who display aggressive behavior and a lack of empathy. The development of positive character traits such as empathy, responsibility, and respect are hindered by an unsupportive environment. This study highlights the crucial role of teachers, parents, and the school environment in preventive, curative, preservative, and referral (reveral) efforts to address bullying. Systematic and continuous character education is key to creating a safe learning climate that supports students’ holistic personality development.

Abstract

Leadership attitudes based on local value are competencies that are urgently needed. However, until now the teaching materials used by history lecturers in Universities at East Priangan still do not accommodate this. This study aims to develop an encyclopedia based on the Sundanese local leadership concept of Parigeuing as teaching material for  prospective history teachers. This research uses the research and development (R&D) method follows the ten systematic steps of the Borg & Gall model. The design of the developed encyclopedia is an excellent category of validators of teaching materials and content.  Based on the results of the limited trial, a total score of 393 was obtained which was categorized as good and in the extensive trial a score of 768 was obtained which was categorized as excellent. The effectiveness of the teaching material on leadership attitude was proven through an Independent Sample T-test on the N-Gain scores of the experimental and control classes, with results indicating t_count=13.137>t_table=2.009 and Sig. (2-tailed) = 0.000 < 0.05. The implication of this research is the need for a variety of teaching materials used by history education lecturers at the University level that accommodate the concept of local leadership. This is very important to prepare prospective history teachers students as agents of change to face various challanges in globalization era.

Abstract

Tariqa, within the framework of Sufism, refers to a system of religious thought and practice cultivated and exemplified by adherents of Sufi orders (tarekat) who embody a pluralistic orientation. This study seeks to elucidate the evolution of a diversity-orientated mentality embedded in tariqa (tasawuf) practices in East Lombok during the New Order era. Employing a historical research approach, this study adopts the established stages of historical inquiry is heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. The findings indicate that the development of tariqa in East Lombok constitutes a long-standing historical process, rooted in the introduction of Islam to the region in the 15th and 16th centuries. This development has been consistently preserved as an integral element of the religious fabric of East Lombok society. The mentality of diversity has been culturally nurtured through a sustained and profound relationship between spiritual teachers (murshid) and their disciples within tarekat institutions. During the New Order period, the transformation of tariqa adherents into a community committed to fostering a culture of inclusivity and social cohesion was notably evident. Remarkably, the region experienced no communal conflict throughout the era, contributing to the formation of a harmonious society. This study aspires to contribute meaningfully to scholarly discourse on tariqa practices that embody tolerance and serve as exemplary models within pluralistic societies.

Abstract

The youth community of Muhammadiyah mosques, Nahdatul Ulama (NU), Tabligh and the Indonesian Islamic Da'wah Institute (LDII) have differences in carrying out worship and lifestyle behaviors. This research has three main objectives: first, to describe the religious practices of the four mosque youth communities; second, to examine the lifestyle through the perspective of Islamic identity communication; and third, to formulate a model of lifestyle communication in the context of different religions between these communities. The approach of this research is qualitative with a phenomenological framework. The informants involved came from four mosque youth groups that were the object of the study. The results of the study show, first, that the differences in religious lifestyles among the four Muslim youth communities triggered friction between groups. Second, there are variations in lifestyles, ways of dressing or fashion, consumption patterns, and communication patterns have the potential for conflict leading to conflict. Third, this study succeeded in identifying two types of communication models: formal communication that focuses on harmonizing religious understanding, such as the interpretation of teachings, the implementation of worship, and the principle of inviting goodness to avoid evil, and informal communication that forms the Islamic identity of youth through social interaction, da'wah content, language style, peer influence, and elements of humor. This research contributes to opening new spaces for socio-religious studies that are more contextual and responsive to the social realities of contemporary Muslims.

Abstract

The seizure of coastal areas by the state and private capital through large-scale development projects has created a complex social and ecological crisis. This article reviews the literature on coastal agrarian conflicts, focusing on power relations, gender dynamics, community resistance strategies, and the impact of ocean grabbing on social structures and communal bonds. Research consistently shows that these projects reshape physical landscapes, trigger agrarian conflicts, and displace local communities, thereby commodifying living spaces. Women, often the most vulnerable group, play strategic roles as guardians of community values, actors in alternative economies, and symbols of living spaces. While local communities resist through mobilization, legal channels, and advocacy, complex power relations often obscure women’s contributions in narratives of resistance. This dispossession also fractures community solidarity through tactics of divide-and-rule and repression. Employing a Feminist Political Ecology (FPE) framework, this article emphasizes the importance of gender-based and intersectional approaches in understanding coastal agrarian conflicts. Future research should therefore pay greater attention to women’s strategies in defending their living spaces through their lived experiences and gender identities, employing feminist perspectives to advance more comprehensive gender justice.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the extent to which students' critical thinking skills are improved by the utilization of the smart apps creator program. A quasi-experimental research methodology utilizing a nonequivalent control group design is applied. Purposive sampling was used to choose 150 students for the research sample. A multiple-choice exam was used to gather data. The Mann-Whitney U Test and descriptive statistics were used to analyze the data. The n-gain value for the experimental class was 0.7629, whereas that of the control class was 0.3144. These results demonstrated that students' critical thinking abilities had improved in both groups. This suggests that students who use the Smart Apps Creator application learn more effectively than those who do not in terms of their critical thinking abilities. The Mann Whitney U Test hypothesis test value at the Asymptotic Sig. A value (2-sided test) of 0.000 <0.05 indicates this. The utilization of the smart applications Creator program is found to be highly beneficial in enhancing pupils' critical thinking abilities. According to the research, students can benefit from the Smart Application Creator application by having their learning demands met and their critical thinking abilities enhanced. Teachers can use it to become more creative in creating unique learning activities and to serve as a resource for resolving various issues in learning exercises.  The contribution of this research to the future is to serve as a reference for implementing the national curriculum in Indonesia as a learning medium that can be integrated with in-depth learning.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of advanced AI tools, such as ChatGPT, on student’s academic performance. Additionally, it investigates the mediating role of student’s engagement and motivation in the relationship between AI tools and Academic performance in the department of Social Sciences Education at State University of Yogyakarta. This study has adopted a quantitative approach and has collected data from 52 undergraduate students enrolled in specified sample. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS. The findings indicate that AI tools significantly correlated with academic performance (r = 0.717, p < .01), while also  also showing positive correlation with student engagement (r = 0.692, p < .01) and motivation ( r = 0.658, p < 0.01). Furthermore, it improves comprehension of students, and provides self-directed learning. However, concern regarding over-reliance on AI is also identified, particularly its potential impact on critical thinking. This study highlights the importance of responsible AI integration, emphasizing the need to create balance between AI-driven learning and traditional methods. Educational Institutions must develop strategies that maintain student’s critical thinking and analytical skills while using AI tools. As a researcher, I believe the findings can assist institutions and instructors in implementing AI technologies into teaching practices in way that enhances academic performance, engagement, and motivation, while still fostering autonomous and critical thinking among students.

Abstract

This research was conducted to investigate the effectiveness of Wordwall digital games in the context of elementary social studies learning. Specifically, the study sought to: (1) examine the extent to which the use of Wordwall media could enhance students’ academic achievement; and (2) assess the contribution of this interactive platform in fostering students’ communication skills during classroom activities. The study applied a pre-experimental approach using a one-group pretest–posttest design. In this design, a single class was observed without the inclusion of a control group. The participants consisted of 25 fourth-grade students enrolled at SDN Bontoranum II in Makassar. Data were gathered through the administration of tests, direct classroom observations, and the distribution of questionnaires. The collected information was subsequently analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistical techniques. The results demonstrated a clear improvement in student performance following the integration of Wordwall digital games into the learning process. This progress was reflected in the students’ quiz scores and the comparative analysis between pretest and posttest results. Before the use of Wordwall, the average pretest score in social studies was 68, which fell into the low category. After the intervention, the mean posttest score rose significantly to 88.0, categorized as high. Further statistical analysis through a t-test confirmed that the improvement was significant. The significance value obtained (Sig = 0.013) was smaller than the predetermined alpha level of 0.05, indicating that the use of Wordwall digital games had a meaningful impact on student learning outcomes in social studies. In addition to cognitive gains, the study also highlighted improvements in students’ communication skills. The integration of Wordwall games encouraged greater classroom engagement, evidenced by students’ active participation, enthusiasm in discussions, and increased confidence in expressing opinions during lessons. These findings suggest that Wordwall not only strengthens academic performance but also nurtures essential soft skills that support holistic student development.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the dynamics of values and ideas that shaped Soekarno's syncretic and eclectic thinking. This study uses a historical method that includes four stages, namely heuristics, criticism, interpretation, and historiography. Through comparative analysis, it is shown that there are differences between the concepts of syncretism and eclecticism. Eclecticism is an approach to thinking that selectively combines various elements of thought from different systems of thought. This differs from syncretism, which tends to combine elements of values and thoughts into a unity with traces of contradiction within it. The results of this study show that Soekarno's syncretic thinking was born from an active dialectical process between tradition, values, and philosophy. The intersection of Javanese values, Theosophy, Abangan Islam, and Hinduism became the foundation for the formation of Soekarno's moral horizon, which was oriented towards the idea of unity. Meanwhile, Soekarno's eclecticism was the result of his adaptation of HOS Tjokroaminoto's eclectic style of thinking, as reflected in his writings on Islam and Socialism. Tjokroaminoto selected concepts of socialism that were compatible with the framework of Islam, rather than accepting the doctrine of socialism. Based on this approach, Soekarno formulated syncretic and eclectic ideological ideas in his 1926 writing Nationalism, Islamism, and Marxism. The uniqueness of this study lies in the position of syncretism as Soekarno's moral philosophy and eclecticism as Soekarno's epistemology
