Abstract

This study delves into the pivotal role of the Scout organization in alleviating academic stress among students at the State Islamic University of North Sumatra, Medan. Academic stress, a physiological and emotional response to academic demands, is often characterized by anxiety, worry, avoidance behaviour, and emotional instability. This research, employing a qualitative descriptive approach, investigates how the Scout organization aids students in overcoming academic stress. The findings underscore the significant role of the Scout organization in developing not just managerial skills but also leadership skills. It provides social support, encourages physical activity and relaxation, enhances mental resilience, and fosters positive character traits. The integration of these aspects creates a supportive environment that not only alleviates stress but also enriches students' personal development. This study underscores the transformative potential of non-formal educational organizations like Scouts in building adaptive skills and resilience among students, thereby enhancing student well-being and academic success.

Abstract

Pesantren, as an integral part of Indonesia's educational and cultural heritage, faced unprecedented challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. These challenges included adapting their management and teaching methods to sustain their dual objectives: spiritual development and life skills-based education. This study examines the educational management strategies implemented by a girls' pesantren in Sleman, Yogyakarta, focusing on life skills education. Using a qualitative research design, data were collected through purposive sampling, participatory observation, and structured interviews with key stakeholders, including the pesantren's founder and educators. The study employs the ADDIE framework"”planning, organizing, implementation, and control"”to evaluate life skills-based educational management. The findings reveal that while the planning and organizing stages align with the institution's strategic goals, the implementation and supervision require improvement in terms of documentation and task formalization. Nevertheless, the application of practical learning and direct mentoring has effectively enhanced the students' independence and vocational competencies. This study contributes by providing a replicable life skills-based educational management model for similar pesantren and serves as a reference for policymakers in improving the quality of pesantren education in the future.

Abstract

Currently, teachers only focus on using package books in teaching in the classroom. Without the sophistication of technology that is not combined with teaching media, it will form students who do not show enthusiasm and do not have character in the learning process. Therefore, researchers are interested in making android-based scrapbooks. This study aims to determine the scrapbook's feasibility, practicality, and effectiveness. This research is a research and development (R&D) with a model from 4-D to 3-D. The result of this research is that the value of Aiken's V calculation on the validation data of material experts is 0.903, and media experts of 0.8 are classified as suitable for use. Then, the results of V Aiken's calculation, student response data of 0.932 and teacher response data of 0.89 are classified as practical to use during learning. Meanwhile, the calculating-paired the t-testest and post-test with a t-count value = 6.18 and a t-table value = 2.039. Since t-count > t-table, it has a "highly effective" criterion. This means that this media effectively affects the learning process in the classroom.

Abstract

History learning has great potential in building students' historical awareness. However, most students still find it difficult to understand historical concepts, especially those related to past events and cannot be experienced directly. This research evaluates how effective the outing class method is in comparison to traditional methods for enhancing history learning outcomes. Utilizing a quasi-experimental design that incorporates pre-tests and post-tests within the control group, a quantitative approach is employed in this study. A sample comprising two classes X at SMA N 1 Dukuhwaru was determined using a random sampling technique. The experimental group engaged with the outing class method, whereas the control group followed the conventional approach. Findings from the paired sample t-test indicated a notable improvement in the experimental group (p < 0.05), with the average post-test score rising from 71.3 to 89.0, while the control group only increased from 66.7 to 69.8. Bibliometric analysis also shows a lack of similar research in the historical context. The study confirms that Outing Classes can significantly improve student learning outcomes, as well as recommending broader implementation in the history curriculum for a more contextual and interactive learning experience.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the independent learning module in differentiated learning in history subject by using CIPP (Context, Input, Process, Product) evaluation model in SMAN 3, SMAN 7, and SMAN 15 Padang. The method used was descriptive-qualitative with an evaluation approach to assess the implementation of curriculum and educational programs. The research was conducted in three stages: pre-research, implementation, and report writing. Data were collected through observation, interviews with history teachers and driving teachers, and documentation, then analyzed using data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing techniques. The results show that differentiated learning aims to meet students' learning needs through specially designed modules. In the context aspect, the school has supported this learning by improving teachers' competence through training and managing the learning environment. From the input aspect, the material in the module is in accordance with Merdeka Curriculum, and resources such as driving teachers and learning media are available, although the learning guide still needs to be refined. In the process aspect, the implementation of differentiated learning is in accordance with planning, using various methods and media that increase student participation, although some teachers experience obstacles in time allocation and student understanding. Product evaluation shows that this learning is effective in improving students' learning outcomes and participation and supporting their learning independence.

Abstract

This study critically examines two foundational approaches in social science: positivism and Ibn Khaldun's theoretical framework. Through comprehensive library research analyzing primary and secondary sources, we explore the ontological, epistemological, and axiological dimensions of both paradigms. Positivism, approaches social phenomena through rigid scientific methodologies, emphasizing empirical observation and quantitative measurement while pursuing objective, universal social laws. This perspective, while influential in modern social science development, often reduces complex social realities to measurable variables, neglecting subjective dimensions like values, culture, and historical contexts. In contrast, Ibn Khaldun's 14th-century framework, particularly his concept of asabiyyah (group solidarity), offers a more dynamic understanding of social phenomena by integrating empirical observation with philosophical reflection and historical context. This research demonstrates how Ibn Khaldun's approach acknowledges the multidimensional nature of social reality, including moral, spiritual, and cultural factors that remain influential in social development cycles. The comparative analysis reveals that while positivism provides methodological rigor, Ibn Khaldun's holistic perspective better captures the complexity and fluidity of social dynamics, making it particularly relevant for contemporary social analysis seeking to transcend mechanistic explanations. This study contributes to ongoing discourse about developing more integrative approaches in social science that balance empirical observation with contextual understanding.

Abstract

This study explores the dynamics of Islamic political parties in Indonesia during the Reformasi era, which was marked by significant political system changes and evolving electoral landscapes. Despite Indonesia's status as the country with the world’s largest Muslim population, this research focuses on understanding the factors behind the lack of voter interest in Islamic political parties, especially after the 1998 reform. By utilizing a literature review method, this research aims to identify why these parties have struggled to gain significant votes in post-reform elections and what steps they could take to improve their relevance and image among voters. The findings indicate that although Indonesia holds the largest Muslim population globally, Islamic-based parties have faced consistent challenges in securing electoral success. After the reform, while many new Islamic parties emerged, none regained the dominance once held by the United Development Party (PPP) during the New Order era, when the PPP was the sole political platform for Muslims following party simplification by Soeharto’s regime. The study also reveals that the lack of voter interest can be attributed to Islamic parties’ failure to present concrete, appealing programs and voter dissatisfaction with their performance. Ultimately, this research aims to provide insights into how Islamic political parties can enhance their role in Indonesia’s democratic system by improving voter engagement and political participation.
