Abstract

This study aims to analyze the waiting period for employment among graduates of the Educational Administration Study Program at Universitas Brawijaya using a data mining approach with the Naïve Bayes Classifier algorithm. A major issue facing higher education in Indonesia is the high unemployment rate among graduates due to a mismatch between acquired competencies and labor market demands. This research utilizes Tracer Study data from 2019 to 2022 to classify graduate employment waiting periods based on variables such as study duration, GPA, competencies, English proficiency, communication skills, and teamwork. The classification process was conducted using RapidMiner and Microsoft Excel, resulting in an accuracy rate of 81.82%, precision of 100%, and recall of 50%. These findings indicate that the predictive model can serve as a robust foundation for formulating evidence-based education policies. The implementation of data mining contributes to curriculum development, skills training, and labor market demand mapping. This approach enhances the effectiveness of higher education institutions in preparing graduates who are competent and aligned with the dynamics of the job market.

Abstract

This study employs a quantitative approach with multiple linear regression methods to examine the influence of the Education Index, Health Index, and Expenditure Index on poverty levels. The data analyzed show significant increases in the Education and Health Indexes during the period from 2012 to 2023. The Education Index rose from a minimum value of 38.29 to 51.73 and a maximum from 71.15 to 80.27. Meanwhile, the Health Index increased from a minimum value of 69.57 to 73.23 and a maximum from 82.77 to 84.48. Both indices exhibit a significant negative relationship with poverty levels, indicating that improvements in education and health contribute to the reduction of poverty. However, the Expenditure Index does not show a significant influence on poverty. This indicates that expenditure does not directly affect poverty in the region. Regression analysis results reveal that the tested model can explain approximately 66.9% of the variation in poverty levels using these three variables. Overall, this research reinforces the hypothesis that enhancements in the quality of education and health are crucial factors in poverty reduction strategies, while the influence of expenditure still requires further investigation.

Abstract

Design-based learning (design thinking) and project-based learning (PBL) are innovative approaches that are increasingly relevant in Political Science education to improve students' critical, creative, and collaborative thinking skills. This study evaluates the application of design thinking in a Political Entrepreneurship Course over the past two years at Universitas Brawijaya, involving 145 students as participants. This study used a quantitative descriptive approach to measure changes in students' creative mindsets based on seven elements of design thinking: tolerance of ambiguity, empathy, and problem reframing. The results showed that most students felt comfortable working in complex situations, were able to build empathy for public needs, and produced innovative solutions through design iterations. This approach has proven effective in encouraging active student engagement and creating prototypes that are relevant to real contexts. This study makes a significant contribution to enriching political science pedagogy through the integration of design thinking and PBL and underlines the importance of this approach in training future generations of leaders. The findings recommend strengthening cross-disciplinary collaboration and technology integration to support the development of digital-based prototypes.
