Abstract

Mual dan muntah terjadi pada 70-80% pasien yang mengalami pengobatan kemoterapi kanker. Efek samping tertinggi dari pengobatan kanker dapat menyebabkan kegagalan proses dan hasil dari kemoterapi.Penelitian ini bertujuan melihat efektifitas penggunaan antiemetik pada pasien yang mendapat sitostatika pasca bedah pada berbagai jenis kanker di RSUD Dr. Achmad Mochtar Bukittinggi. Penelitian dilakukan dengan menggunakan metoda observasi prospektif dengan teknik pengambilan porposive sampling dari bulan maret-juni 2009.Hasil penelitian di rumah sakit menunjukkan antiemetik yang banyak digunakan adalah metoklopramid (tunggal) dan dalam bentuk kombinasi adalah metoklopramid-deksametason. Dari 11 orang pasien yang diamati, 1 orang tidak mengalami mual dan muntah, 7 orang mengalami mual dan 3 orang mengalami mual dan muntah. Secara umum antiemetik yang dipakai pada rumah sakit ini belum efektif mengatasi mual dan muntah.

Abstract

Cholesterol was a steroidal compounds contained in the human body. Cholesterol imbalance in the body caused hypercholesterol disease. Acharan sulfate is a compound found in snail body and potentially lowering cholesterol level. Acharan sulfate was extracted from snail body with maceration method using ethanol solvents. Research was done by using animals model, male rats (Rattus norwegicus) Wistar strain which was two months old and weighing 180 to 200 grams. The animals model were divided into six groups. One groups used as normal control. Five groups were treated with high cholesterol diet with suspense of cow fat and yellow egg for ten days. After that, three groups were treated with the ethanolic extract of snail body with doses of 40 mg/kgbw, 80 mg/kgbw, and 160 mg/kgbw. The two other groups were treated with Simvastatin and BR II feed (disease control). Total cholesterol, HDL and LDL concentrations were determined using enzymatic photometric test CHOD-PAP method. Results showed that snail body the ethenolic extract of decreased total cholesterol concentration by 6,33 mg/dl at doses 160 mg/kgbw and 4,90 mg/dl at doses 80 mg/kgbw. HDL concentration increased by 0,85 and 8,06 mg/dl respectively at doses 80 mg/kgbw and 160 mg/kgbw. LDL concentration decreased by 1.96 mg/dl, 2.22 mg/dl and 3.52 mg/dl respectively at doses 40, 80, and 160 mg/kgbw.

Abstract

This research was a prospective observational study using descriptive cross sectional approach and performed at all patients of hyperuricemia with or without accompanying diseases at Interne Ward and Polyclinic DR. M. Djamil Hospital Padang during Maret to May 2011, by census. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive analysis method. Results showed that type of DRPs frequently occured at 110 patients with hyperuricemia with/without  accompanying diseases at Interne polyclinic was drug interactions of pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic at 36 patients. Adverse drug reaction 9 patients, non-compliance of patients 5 patients. Drug terapy without medical indication, lower and higher dose, inappropriate drug selection, inappropriate drug administration interval were had no problems. At the Interne Ward from 7 patients, the DRPs frequentlyy occured were drug interactions (3 patients), higher drug dose (2 patients), adverse drug reactions (2 patients), patient non-compliance (2 patients), inappropriate drug administration interval (1 patient), drug therapy without medical indication (1 patient), and other DRPs had no problems. There was non toxic drug interactions or adverse drug reactions was found during this study.

Abstract

Increasing oxygen consumption during intensive physical exercise may increase production of free radicals, and if it exceeds physiological capacity may cause oxidative stress as shown as chance of MDA level. Buah merah oil contains high betacarotene and tocopherol, as well as fatty acid such as oleic acid, linoleic acid, linolenic acid and decanoic acid. Tocopherol is major biological lipid-soluble antioxidant, protecting structures and function of cell membranes from free radicals. The objective of this study was to know in vitro antioxidant activity and the effect of buah merah oil on MDA level in blood during maximum physical activity treatment. In vitro antioxidant activity test was conducted using DPPH method (2,2-diphenyl-1-picryl hydrazyl). In vivo antioxidant activity test was done by using 24 male Wistar rats in pre - post test control group design. The rats were grouped into 4 groups. The control group was given destillated water and three treatment groups were given buah merah oil in the dose of 0,15 ml/kgBW; 0,3 ml/kgBW; 0,6 ml/kgBW respectivelyfor 10 days. Before buah merah oil was given, level of MDA was measured. Ten days later, the four group were given maximum physical activity mean of swimming until the sign of fatigue occurred (nearly drowned) and the blood was taken for blood MDA examination. In vitro, the IC50 of buah merah oil was 451,51 μg/ml. In vivo test, dosage 0,15 ml/kgBW could decrease MDA 5,22% Dosage 0,3 ml/kgBW could decrease MDA 11,96% and dosage 0,6 ml/kgBW could decrease MDA 8,19% . Buah merah oil showed antioxidant activity in vitro. In vivo experiment, all dosage of buah merah oil decreased blood MDA level but in the dose of 0,3 ml/kgBW decreased MDA level more than dose of 0,15 ml/kgBW and 0,6 ml/kgBW.

Abstract

A study on the use of pregelatinized glutinous rice starch in combination with sodium carboxy methyl cellulose as sustained release matrix and sodium diclofenac as a model has been conducted. Two formulas were prepared with these ratio of pregelatized glutinous rice starch to Na CMC of (42,70% : 14,25 %) (F1) and (28,5% : 28,5 %) (F2) respectively. Evaluation of pharmaceutical properties of the tablets showed that all formulas fulfilled the requirement in term of weight uniformity, content uniformity, friability, hardness and disintegration time. Dissolution profile showed that F1 showed down the release of drug at 86% in 12 hours, while F2 80,16 % in 12 hours.

Abstract

Metformin, adalah suatu obat yang direkomendasikan sebagai obat pilihan utama dan digunakan luas untuk pengobatan diabetes mellitus tipe 2. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mempelajari penggunaan metformin pada pasien rawat inap di SMF Ilmu Penyakit Dalam RSUD Dr. Achmad Mochtar Bukittinggi, khususnya pada penggunaan yg dikategorikan kontraindikasi. Penelitian ini merupakan suatu studi prospektif  follow up pasien dengan teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan metode purposive sampling. Data diambil dari bulan April sampai Juni 2010 di  SMF Ilmu Penyakit Dalam RSUD Dr. Achmad Mochtar Bukittinggi, dengan dasar perubahan kondisi pasien selama dirawat. Hasil penelitian, didapatkan 28 pasien yang memenuhi kriteria dalam penelitian ini, dengan 11 pasien teridentifikasi menggunakan metformin pada keadaan kontraindikasi. Ditemukan penggunaannya pada 3 pasien dengan gagal jantung kongesti dan gagal ginjal, 3 pasien dengan gagal jantung, 2 pasien dengan gagal ginjal, 2 pasien dengan sirosis hepatik, dan 1 pasien dengan dehidrasi akut disertai hipoperfusi. Terdapat 2 dari 11 pasien tersebut meninggal dalam masa pengamatan, namun masih belum bisa dipastikan bahwa penyebab kematian tersebut adalah karena penggunaan metformin. Farmasis harus selalu memperhatikan perubahan kondisi pasien untuk meyakinkan bahwa penggunaan obat masih aman bagi seorang pasien.

Abstract

Optimization studies out on isolation of catechin from gambier and pasta for the pharmaceutical and marker compounds have been carried. Gambier gambier and paste were obtained from the Medicinal Plant Garden Andalas University, Siguntur and Lima Puluh Kota. Isolation method used was non-purification method, pre-purification for gambier and fractination for pasta. The analysis performed included catechin solubility, melting point, maximum absorption, thin-layer chromatography, loss on drying, ash content, yield and determination of levels of catechin. Product which has the highest levels of catechins, the determination was continued by analysis of UV spectra and NMR. The best results for pharmaceuticals derived from Siguntur with pre-purification methods which resulted in yield 56.3% with 96.17% catechin content, whereas for a marker compound was obtained from gambier Siguntur pasta with fractionation method which yielded 12.13% with 97.96% of catechin level.

Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian analisis kandungan merkuri dalam 3 sampel krim pemutih kosmetika herbal. Sampel diekstraksi dengan cara digesti basah selama 3 jam pada suhu ±95°C sampai diperoleh larutan bening. Selanjutnya merkuri ditentukan secara kualitatif dan kuantitatif dengan pereaksi warna dan menggunakan metoda spektrofotometri serapan atom. Hasil analisis kualitatif menunjukkan bahwa semua sampel mengandung merkuri. Kadar merkuri pada sampel 1, 2, 3 berturut-turut adalah sebesar 0,56%; 0,28% dan 0,45 %. Kadar Hg pada sampel tersebut melanggar Peraturan Menkes RI No.376/MenKes/Per/VIII/1990 dan PerMenKes RI No.445/MenKes/Per/V/1998 yang isinya melarang penggunaan merkuri dalam sediaan kosmetika.

Abstract

dentification of antioxidative compounds in God leaves [Gynura pseudochina (Lour.) DC] has been performed. The dried leaves were extracted by reflux consecutively with hexane, chloroform and methanol. Each of extract was concentrated using rotary vacuum evaporator. DPPH method was used to examine the antioxidant activity of the extract. The methanolic extract exhibited the strongest antioxidative activity. Then the methanolic extract was isolated by preparative paper chromatography method. The isolated compounds were screened for their antioxidative activity by DPPH method and characterized by chemical and spectroscopic methods. Results indicated that the compound 3’,4’,5,7-tetrahydroxy flavonol (quercetin) was the most active as antioxidant and can be used as marker in standardization of God leaves or its extract.

Abstract

A study was conducted to determine the “development toxicity” of ciprofloxacin and litters kidney. The aim of this study was to observe teratogenic effect of ciprofloxacin, and observing its effect on behaviour development and litters kidney. Twenty four pregnant mice were divided into 4 groups : control, and treatments with oral dose of ciprofloxacin of 14,3 mg, 28,5 mg, and 57,1 mg/kg body weight/day for 10 days, coincided with sixth day until fifteenth day of pregnancy for prenatal and posnatal test. Half of the animals were killed on day 18 of gestation and the others half were allowed to deliver. Fetuses were removed by caesarean section. For postnatal test, ciprofloxacin exposed at first day of lactation until weaning. Behaviour toxicity was conducted by Behavioral Test Battery, and observing its effect on litters kidney by paraffin method. Quantitative data were analyzed with Anova and Duncan’s Multiple Range Test. Results showed that teratogenic effects of ciprofloxacin were fetuses death, resorption and hemorrhage. For behaviour toxicity, delayed ability was noticed at 28,5 mg/kg BW obviously, histologically there were disturbances of kidney, which were the thickening of bowman’s capsule, constriction of glomerular capillaries and necrosis.
