Abstract

A study on the activity of some ethyl acetate subfraction of meniran herbs (Phyllanthus niruri Linn.) on the cutaneous active hypersensitive reaction has been conducted. The subfraction (1,2, and 3) were at the dose of 50 mg/Kg BW and 100 mg/Kg BW dispersed with 1% tween 80: Chicken egg albumin at concentration 25% and 30% were used as control, all of which were given for 10 days. The Hipersensitivity reaction was observed at day 10th. Result Showed that subfraction 1,2, and 3 at doses 50 mg/Kg BW and 100 mg/Kg BW inhibited hypersensitivity, reaction significantly, the onset of blue skin bump were best given by subfraction 3 (dose 100 mg/Kg BW), the diameter of blue skin bump were best given by subfraction 2 (50 mg/Kg BW) and the intensity of the blue skin bump was besy given by subfraction 2 (100 mh/Kg BW). In summary, the ethyl aceble subfraction of meniron herbs (Phyllanthus niruri Linn.) showed an immunostimulan activity

Abstract

An assay of biodegradation of plastic film combination of polystyrene (PS) and poli (3-hydroxy butyrate-ko-3-hydroxyvalerate) [P(3HB-ko-3HV)] has been conducted. The assay was done by using soil burial test method. The plastic film was made by blending technique of various composition of PS/P(3HB-ko-3HV) in to the mud. The remaining weight of plastic film was determined gravimentically time intervals 1,2,3,4 and 5 weeks of burial. Result showed that the P(3HB-ko-3HV) had an influence on the degradation rate of plastic film. The biodegradation rate increased with an increase in P(3HB-ko-3HV) content in the mixture. The rate was derived from linear regression equation and parameters such as biodegradation rate constant (k), t 50 % and t 95% were obtained. It was found that for combination of  PS/P(3HB-ko-3HV) 95:5 k= 1,26% b/b per week , t 50 % = 39,07 weeks and t 95 % = 74,783 week for the mixture of PS/P(3HB-ko-3HV) 90:10  k = 1,604 % b/b per week, t 50 % = 30,57 week and t 95 % = 58,62 week. For the mixture of PS/P(3HB-ko-3HV), 85:15 k = 2,663 % b/b per week, t 50 % = 17,95 week and t 95 % = 34,85 week. While those of pure PS plastic film k = 0,24 % b/b per week, t 50 % = 201,85 week and t 95 % = 354,55 week which indicated a very slow biodegradation. Analysis by SEM showed that the surface of plastic film was eroded and damaged during the burial. The amount of bacterial colony per 1 gram of mud was 2,31x107.

Abstract

The determination of totally phenolic compounds in methanol extracted of cortex fruit of Garcinia manggostana Linn has been done by Folin-Ciocalteau method. The antioxidant activity has been performed using 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrihydrazil (DPPH) as reagent, that measured spectrometrically compared with gallic acid as antioxidant standard compound. The total phenolate compounds found in fresh peel of mangosteen was 1,64±0.18% w/w which calculated as gallic acid equivalence and the antioxidant activity with a value of IC50 was 251,12 μg.

Abstract

The effect of the ethanolic extract of Orthosiphon spicatus leaves on the intraocular pressure of glaucoma rats have been investigated. Glaucoma was induced by treating the animal with prednisolone acetat eyedrop 1% every 5 minute for one hour. A number of 30 rats were divided into 6 group. Three groups of animals were treated with the extract at doses of 12, 36, and 108 mg/200 g BW orally. As comparison, a group of normal control animals, a group of negative control animals and another treated with acetazolamide (4,5 mg/200 g bw) were used. Results showed that the extract reduced intraocular pressure of glaucoma rats especially at dose of 36 mg/ 200 g BW.

Abstract

Dyslipidemia is an abnormality of lipid metabolism, which is characterized by elevated or reduced plasma lipid fractions. Dyslipidemia is a major risk factor of cardiovascular disease. An Improve of lipid profile may reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. This research was conducted to determine the Drug Related Problems (DRPs) occured in patients with dyslipidemia. This research was a prospective observational study using descriptive cross sectional approach, performed on dyslipidemia patients with or without comorbidities in outpatient and inpatient of Internal Medicine DR. M. Djamil Padang from March to May 2011. Evaluation of the data was carried outdescriptively. Results showed that type of DRPs occurred from 11 dyslipidemia patients with or without comorbidities on inpatient of Internal Medicine were drug interactions in 4 patients, adverse drug reactions in 2 patients, noncompliance in 2 patients, dosage too high in 1 patient, inappropriate drug administration interval in 1 patient while other components of DRPs had no problem. In the outpatient of Internal Medicine, DRPs occured at 98 patients of dyslipidemia with or without accompanying diseases were drug interactions in 26 patients, patient noncompliance in 22 patients, adverse drug reactions in 13 patients, dosage too low in 5 patients, drug therapy without medical indications in 4 patients, inappropriate drug administration interval in 3 patients while other components DRPs had no problem. Drug interactions consisted of pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic interactions. In practice, those can be accommodates by separating their administration and monitoring of drug interaction. Meanwhile, toxic drug interactions were not found.

Abstract

This study aimed at describing glibenclamide prescription service profile which includes the availability of glibenclamide prescription information services provided by pharmacist at the pharmacy as well as the availability and completeness of the prescription copies and the drug label. This study was non-experimental study or observational descriptive study design through Participatory observation Partial. The data obtained included type of drug information provided, copy of prescription, drug label, and the status of prescribing provider,which were analyzed by descriptive statistics. From 124 sample of pharmacies, 3 (2,43%) pharmacies refused to serve prescription. Profil of prescription service given : 30 (24,19%) pharmacies returned the prescription, 4 (3,23%) refused making copy of prescription, 1 (0,81%) pharmacy didn’t provide medicine appropriately with prescription, 21 (16,94%) didn’t attach drug label, 8 (6,45%) didn’t provide drug information service, and 53 (42,74%) pharmacies didn’t conduct the prescription service by competent pharmacist. From the amount of 113 which provide drug information service, there was no pharmacy give drug information service completely based on Kepmenkes RI No. 1027 tahun 2004.

Abstract

Nitrogen mono oksida (NO) dikenal juga dengan Endothelial Derrivat Relaxing Factors) merupakan molekul sederhana yang berperan dalam regulasi sistem kardiovaskular. Nitrogen mono oksida yang dihasilkan oleh NOS type III didalam endotel akan berdiffusi kedalam sel otot polos pembuluh darah yang akan mengaktifkan enzim guanylate cyclase menyebabkan terjadi relaksasi dari otot polos pembuluh darah. Nitrogen mono oksida yang dihasilkan dari metabolisme obat antiangina menyebabkan vasodilasi pembuluh darah koroner yang mengalami aterosklerosis dan memperbaiki aliran darah koroner jantung. Pada penelitian ini diteliti pengaruh ekstrak gambir terhadap kadar EDRF (Endothelial Derrivat Relaxing Factors)/Nitrogen Mono Oksida (NO) pada keadaan hiperkolesterol. Hiperkolesterol di induksi dengan koktail aterogenik. Koktail atrogenik terdidri dari Lemak sapi : Miyak sawit (1:5) PTU 0,1 %, empedu ayam 2 %. Ekstrak gambir diberikan dengan dosis 10, 20 dan 40 mg/Kg BB selama 2 bulan bersamaan dengan koktail yang diberikan secara oral. Kadar NO ditentukan dengan metoda ELISA Spektrofotometer Ukur Optikal Densiti nya pada λ 550 nm. Hasil penelitian menunjukan ekstrak gambir dengan dosis 10 dan 20 mg/Kg BB dapat meningkatkan kadar NO, 20 mg/Kg BB merupakan dosis terbaik untuk. Dosis 40 mg/Kg BB tidak dapat meningkatkan NO.

Abstract

Toxicity studies have been conducted from plant extracts of Talinum triangulare (Jacq) Willd. on male white mice. Toxic effects were observed in the form of liver dysfunction and renal dysfunction of experimental animals that were given orally by the variation extract dose of 150, 300 and 600 mg / kg once daily for 15, 30 and 45 days. As a control group used male white mice which were given only 2.5% Tween 80. Parameters to be measured are the activity of SGPT and SGOT, creatinine clearance, renal function and percentage ratio of kidney weight. From the results of studies it appears that administration of plant extract Talinum triangulare (Jacq) Willd. with a given dose affects liver function and kidney function were significantly (P <0.05)

Abstract

Purity and stability evaluation post-production of labelled compound 153SmCl3 with EDTMP have been studied. Purity evaluation of 153SmCl3 and 153Sm-EDTMP were conducted using thin layer chromatographic principle on Whatman No.1. Stability evaluation of 153SmCl3 and 153Sm-EDTMP were conducted using visual observation on color and pH changes. Table showes that purity of 153Sm-EDTMP was ± 98- 99 %. It means ± 1-2 % rest was free 153Sm+3 which is left on drop point chromatographic paper. Table also describes t-student analyses that t (-0.545) < t table (2.306). It means storage time did not affect the purity of 153Sm-EDTMP.
