Abstract

Teaching Indonesian does not only teach about language but indirectly teaches Indonesian culture. However, each BIPA learning place has different characteristics. This difference certainly has a positive impact. This research aims to examine the characteristics of BIPA Cultura learning at Unissula. This research is a type of qualitative descriptive research by describes the research results using text directly. The data collection technique in this research was carried out by documenting and interviewing BIPA teachers, BIPA friends, and the results of BIPA learning activities. The data obtained is presented in a detailed descriptive qualitative manner. Unissula's BIPA Cultura program has characteristics that differentiate it from other BIPA programs, namely the integration of Islamic insight, Indonesian insight and linguistics in the learning process. This program focuses on teaching Indonesian and introduces various aspects of Islamic culture and values ​​in Islamic academic culture.

Abstract

Literary works are social reflections that are created from the union between reality and imagination. To obtain a picture of reality in a literary work, an in-depth study of the literary work is needed. The focus of this study is to investigate the periodization of the punk community and the ideology of punk freedom contained in the novel Akar by Dewi Lestari. The study, which was initiated using a qualitative approach, relies on Alan Swingewood's literary sociology paradigm. The main data source of this research is the novel Akar by Dewi Lestari. The data in this study are in the form of narratives, dialogs, or monologues that allegedly record traces of the punk community and represent the ideology of freedom of the punk community. The data is collected through reading and note-taking techniques. The data that has been collected is then analyzed using content analysis techniques. The results showed that the periodization of the punk community depicted in the novel was in 1996-2001 as evidenced by the beginning of concern for socio-political issues. The existence of the punk community is also supported by the ideology of physical and psychological freedom of the characters. Physical freedom is illustrated in the storytelling of characters who tend to be different from the general public such as hairstyles (spike, and baldy), clothing styles and tattoos on the body. Psychic freedom is reflected in the narratives that describe the thinking style of characters such as Bong who chooses not to be bound to any institution and decision-making on each of Bodhi's journeys of self-discovery.

Abstract

This research is a continuation of the development research that has been carried out previously with the title "Development of Android-based Learning Media with Gamification in Explanatory Text Learning in Grade VII at SMP Negeri 2 Kuningan" which has just reached the product development stage. This research is motivated by the lack of learning outcomes to understand explanatory texts caused by the lack of learning media about understanding explanatory texts. The purpose of this study is to test the effectiveness of the use of android-based learning media with gamification in learning explanatory texts in junior high school. The method used is pre-experimental research with a one-group pretest-posttest design. Some of the instruments used are the instrument of the explication text comprehension test. After an effectiveness test, the results were obtained that android-based learning media with effective gamification was used in learning explanatory texts in junior high school. It can be seen from the results of the calculation that the value of sig. (2-tailed) is 0.001. On the basis of the Decision, if sig. (2-tailed)<0.05, then Ho was rejected and H1 was accepted. So sig. (2-tailed) 0.001<0.05, so that the hypothesis that android-based media with gamification is effectively used in learning explanatory texts in junior high school can be accepted. This means that there is a difference in students' ability to understand explanatory texts before and after using media. Thus, the results of this study contribute to learning to understand explanatory texts in terms of the use of innovative learning media.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the use of digital literacy painting Canva in developing students' creativity in writing short texts in Indonesian language subjects at the elementary school level and to what extent the results of using Canva digital literacy as students' creativity in writing short texts in Indonesian language subjects at the elementary school level. The research method used is a qualitative approach with the main object, namely the application of Canva application in Indonesian language learning, especially digital literacy. This research will focus on grade V students who will later use the Canva application in Indonesian language learning. The data of this study consists of two main relevant categories, namely the implementation of digital literacy and digital literacy skills after treatment. The data sources for this research will include the results of interviews and supporting documentation based on the results of the observations carried out. Furthermore, the data analysis process will be carried out using the Miles and Huberman analysis technique. The results found are 1) the use of Canva as a digital literacy painting media has a significant impact in increasing the effectiveness of Indonesian language learning at Al-Abidin ICT Elementary School and increasing student creativity, especially in writing short texts; 2) Students not only write descriptions about their hobbies, but also utilize graphic elements to strengthen the message they want to convey.

Abstract

The decline of democracy and the weakening of the law during the two periods of President Joko Widodo's administration became hot topics discussed by the mass media, including on the YouTube channel Bocor Alus Politik Tempodotco. This research aims to determine the construction of the reality of Jokowi era legal policy through a qualitative research approach of content analysis. Data in the form of text from transcripts of video recordings which were analyzed using Teun A. van Dijk's (1988) critical discourse analysis framework, covering three dimensions of discourse: text, social cognition, and social context. The data source was taken from the Youtube video Podcast Bocor Alus Politik episode Nilai Rocky Gerung untuk 10 Tahun Jokowi: Dinasti Politik dan Warisan Beban untuk Prabowo Subianto, which was broadcast on the Tempodotco Youtube channel on August 26 2024. The research results show that the text dimensions in the podcast use metaphorical and rhetorical language style to emphasize critical assessments of Jokowi's political and legal policy, highlighting the decline of democracy and the practice of political dynasties. The social cognition dimension represents knowledge about Jokowi's role as President who failed to implement democracy and hopes for Prabowo to restore democratic values. The social context dimension shows the role of mass media in influencing public opinion by creating space for critical discussion using digital media. This research recommends the need for further study regarding the role of digital media in building the construction of social reality in Indonesia, especially on social media platforms.

Abstract

The Adus Nggawan ritual is still maintained and carried out until now for generations by the people of Kebomlati Village. This study aims to review the Adus Nggawan ritual for babies aged seven months to two years in the Bengawan Solo river from the symbolic lexicon found. The study method used is qualitative with an ethnographic approach. The study data were obtained from informants from Kebomlati village, Tuban who performed the Adus Nggawan ritual. Data collection techniques used observation, documentation, and structured interviews and literature study. Data analysis using the agih method was used to analyse the meaning of the lexicon used in the Adus Nggawan ritual procession, namely the stages of recording data, sorting data, classifying then analysing data and drawing conclusions. To check the validity of the findings, source triangulation technique was used. The results of this study found 1) the existence of lexical and cultural meanings that arise from twelve lexicons as the cultural identity of the Adus Nggawan ritual 2) the Adus Nggawan ritual contains local wisdom values and has the potential to become a form of culture-based disaster mitigation which is reflected in local knowledge in the form of harmony and toleration values as well as understanding the value of trust and positive thinking. Local wisdom in the form of the value of commitment and self-control and local genius as a form of culture-based mitigation is an appeal not to approach the river for safety so that the Adus Nggawan ritual reminds the importance of maintaining harmonious relationships between humans, nature and the creator.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a learning module for biographical texts designed to improve the literacy of students in class X MAN 2 Jember. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D), with the stages of needs analysis, module design, expert validation, field trials, and evaluation. This module is structured with a literacy-based approach that integrates interactive elements, such as discussion, reflective writing, and value analysis of biographical figures. The results of the study show that this module is feasible to use based on the validation of linguists, materials, and media, with a high average score on linguistics, material suitability, and design aspects. The modules developed are able to increase student involvement in learning, strengthen critical thinking skills, and connect learning of biographical texts with daily life. Thus, this module can be an effective and relevant learning tool to strengthen students' literacy.

Abstract

This study examines the pragmatism of power in teacher-student interaction in Indonesian language learning. The main issue raised is how the power applied in this interaction affects the teaching and learning process and how aspects of pragmatism play a role in shaping the dynamics of power. This study aims to identify the forms of power that appear in teacher-student interaction and how they affect Indonesian language learning effectiveness. The method used is qualitative research with a descriptive approach, where data is obtained through observation, interviews, and document analysis from several Indonesian classes in high schools. The collected data was analysed with a pragmatic approach to reveal the role of power in these interactions. The study results show that power in teacher-student interaction significantly affects the learning atmosphere, both positively and negatively, depending on how teachers use it in the learning process. The conclusion of this study emphasises the importance of awareness of the power dynamics that occur in learning to create a more inclusive and effective educational climate.

Abstract

This research aims to explore students' perspectives on the use of technology-based educational games in learning Indonesian language activities at SMAN 2 Pasaman. The research method used is qualitative with a case study approach. Data was collected through an online questionnaire distributed to 98 tenth-grade students. The findings reveal that although the teaching methods used by teachers are still dominated by conventional approaches, the majority of students (87%) agree that educational games assist them in the learning process. Students consider educational games to make learning activities more exciting, interactive, and enjoyable. However, some students also express doubts about the effectiveness of educational games, primarily because they have never tried them or are concerned about being distracted from the learning material. Overall, the research results indicate that educational games have significant potential to enhance the quality of the Indonesian language learning process, although their implementation needs to be improved among educators.

Abstract

The development of digital technology, particularly the YouTube Gaming platform, has brought significant changes to the entertainment and communication industries. However, the use of informal and non-standard language in gaming content has become a concerning phenomenon, especially in the context of Indonesian language learning. This study aims to analyze morphological errors in YouTube Gaming channels and their implications for Indonesian language learning. The research method used is qualitative descriptive analysis, with data collected from 31 YouTube Gaming channels and 61 video contents. The results show that morphological errors predominantly occur in the form of affixation (prefixes, suffixes, and confixes), reduplication, and the use of non-standard base words. These errors reflect the dominance of informal and non-standard language in gaming content, influenced by the speed of communication, casual language style, and the habits of content creators. The implications of this research indicate that morphological errors have the potential to negatively impact Indonesian language learning, especially for children and adolescents. However, YouTube Gaming content also has the potential to be an interactive language learning medium if used appropriately. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the importance of using language that complies with Indonesian language rules in gaming content, as well as utilizing such content as an innovative learning medium.
