Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of motivation and environmental synergy in improving the quality of memorization of the Qur'an in the Dormitory H Tahfidz Program. The focus of the research highlights the challenges faced in memorizing the Qur'an, ranging from solid time management, heterogeneity of santri backgrounds, to the limitations of varied learning methods. To overcome these obstacles, this study emphasizes the importance of motivational factors-both intrinsic and extrinsic-as well as environmental support which includes intensive guidance, periodic evaluation, and provision of conducive learning facilities. The research method used was a qualitative approach with a case study, which involved three data collection techniques: participatory observation for three months, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies related to activity schedules, achievement records, and memorization guidelines. Data were analyzed thematically to identify patterns of motivation, environmental synergy, and improved memorization quality. The results showed that intrinsic motivation, rooted in sincerity and spiritual awareness to get closer to Allah, played a major role in fostering strong intentions in memorization. Meanwhile, extrinsic motivation that comes from family encouragement, appreciation, and supervisor support also boosts the enthusiasm of students. The synergy of the environment, which includes personal guidance, group learning, application of the reward and punishment system, and a structured and comfortable physical environment, is proven to support the learning process significantly. The implications of this study confirm the need for a holistic approach in the Tahfidz program, where strengthening motivation and optimizing the learning environment must go hand in hand to achieve optimal memorization results. The findings are expected to be used as a reference for other pesantren in designing strategies to improve the quality of memorization of the Qur'an as well as developing a more adaptive and supportive learning system.

Abstract

The concept of infallibility ('iṣmah) of the prophets is an important pillar of Islamic belief. However, a number of verses in the Qur'an seem to imply that the prophets were reprimanded for their decisions, as in the stories of the prophets Adam, Yunus, and Muhammad SAW, which has sparked debate among scholars about the limits of 'iṣmah. Some scholars argue that prophets remain infallible in all aspects, while others acknowledge the possibility of interpretive errors that are immediately corrected by revelation. This study aims to examine Quranic Surah al-Anfal verse 67 as the primary focus in understanding the relationship between infallibility and divine rebuke. This research uses a qualitative approach based on library research, with two main methods of interpretation: classical and contemporary tafsir approaches, as well as analysis of asbāb al-nuzūl and maqāṣid al-sharī'ah. Thus, this study concludes that reprimands against the Prophet function more as an educational method in conveying the values of Sharia to the ummah. This study contributes to clarifying the theological position of the prophets in classical and modern discourse, emphasizing that revelatory correction of the Prophet's ijtihad is a form of divine education (ta'dīb rabbānī), not a rebuke for Sharia errors. This correction actually serves as a mechanism for confirming infallibility by demonstrating Allah's direct guidance in prophetic decisions. This finding enriches the framework of contextual interpretation while bridging literal and hermeneutic understandings, in order to present a balanced and non-extreme narrative in interpreting prophetic integrity

Abstract

This article aims to explore the concept of nāṣiyah in the Qur'an and explore its relevance to the phenomenon of Digital Pornography addiction. This is motivated by the data that brain damage is one of the things that must be avoided by every human being. Damage to the brain can be caused by various factors, such as collisions, taking drugs, and so on. In addition, there are also causes of decreased to damaged human brain function caused by drug addiction through digital pornography or known as narcolema. This article seeks to explain the impact of narcolema and its relevance to the interpretation of the term nāṣiyah in the Qur'an. This article uses a qualitative method with the type of library research. The data sources used in this research come from books, websites, journals and articles related to the Qur'an, articles about pornography, articles about the brain and studies related to neurology. Thus, the article concludes that nāṣiyah in the Qur'an contains complex dimensions of meaning-theological, ethical, and even symbolic-physiological-that illustrate the relationship between human will, moral control, and the consequences of deviant behavior. The relevance of the term nāṣiyah in the Qur'an to narcotics can be seen from a neuropsychological and spiritual perspective. Narcotics damage brain tissue, including the prefrontal region, resulting in impaired cognitive abilities, impulse control, and decision-making functions. As a result, a person's behavior becomes deviant, loses moral control, and tends to commit acts that damage themselves and others.

Abstract

The imbalance of economic relations between business actors and consumers has resulted in suboptimal consumer protection, especially in facing the challenges of modern trade such as e-commerce. Although the Consumer Protection Law (UUPK) Number 8 of 1999 in Indonesia has provided a legal basis and regulated the basic rights of consumers, in practice consumer awareness and the application of legal protection are still not optimal. Therefore, consumer protection must be viewed holistically, not only from the aspect of positive law, but also from the perspective of the Qur'an which instills ethics and social responsibility in business. This research uses a qualitative method with an analytical literature study, which examines national legal regulations and Qur'anic verses related to business ethics and consumer protection. The results show that the principles in the UUPK are closely aligned with the teachings of the Qur'an which emphasize fairness, the prohibition of fraud, and the responsibility of businesses, as well as consumers' rights to convenience, security, and correct information. In addition, the research identified several key issues in consumer protection, such as product safety, right to clear information, digital transactions, personal data privacy, after-sales service, price transparency, protection of vulnerable consumers, right to be heard, environmental social responsibility, and accessibility of products and services. This study concludes that the integration between positive law and Islamic values can strengthen an effective and sustainable consumer protection system in Indonesia.

Abstract

Human trafficking is a form of modern slavery, involving the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harboring, or receipt of a person under the threat of violence, for the purpose of exploitation. The phenomenon of human trafficking, particularly of women and children, is not a new phenomenon that has emerged recently, but has existed since before the advent of Islam. In the Qur'an, human trafficking is not mentioned specifically, but there are several verses that indirectly or conceptually describe the practice of human trafficking. The verses of the Qur'an that describe this are QS. An-Nur: 33 and QS. Yusuf: 19-20. To explain these verses and delve deeper into human trafficking in the Qur'an, this study uses the book Tafsir Marah Labid by Sheikh Nawawi Al-Bantani. Based on this, the main issues in this paper are: how does Sheikh Nawawi Al-Bantani interpret QS. an-Nur: 33 and QS. Yusuf: 19-20, which address the issue of human trafficking, and how relevant it is? The objective of this study is to discuss human trafficking in the Tafsir Marah Labid by Syekh Nawawi Al-Bantani and how relevant his interpretation is to the issue of human trafficking in the present day. This research is a library research using the Tafsir Maudhu'i conseptual research method, based on Tafsir Marah Labid as the primary data source and other books and journals as secondary data sources. The data collection technique uses descriptive-analytical data analysis. The results of this research indicate that in QS. An-Nur: 33, Sheikh Nawawi strongly condemns the practice of forcing female slaves into prostitution, which is relevant to the contemporary phenomena of sexual exploitation and human trafficking. Meanwhile, in QS. Yusuf: 19–20, he highlights the sale of Prophet Yusuf as a concrete form of oppression and the commercialization of humans, which is highly contextual to modern human trafficking practices that treat humans as commodities.

Abstract

It is undeniable that the frequency of social media access by individuals, especially women, has a significant impact on the social aspects of their lives, particularly in terms of dress and behavior. This is because social media provides individuals with the opportunity to interact with one another without the constraints of time or location. This study aims to explore the understanding and concept of tabarruj according to M. Quraish Shihab's Tafsir al-Mishbah and its relevance to self-expression on social media. This study was conducted using qualitative methods and employed a library research approach along with descriptive-analytical data analysis. The findings of this study indicate that M. Quraish Shihab defines tabarruj as the attitude or behavior of a woman who displays her jewelry and attractive body parts to men who are not mahram, such as showing her chest and neck area, or wearing a headscarf but allowing it to hang down and be open. According to Quraish Shihab, dressing in modern fashion is similar to the clothing worn during the Jahiliyyah period. This interpretation is relevant to women who express themselves through photos or videos posted on social media, which often show parts of the body that, in Islam, should be covered or concealed from the view of non-mahram men. Dressing in a way that exposes the body or adopting a seductive style, even through a screen, can be seen as a form of contemporary tabarruj—a repetition of old patterns in new forms, according to Quraish Shihab’s interpretation.

Abstract

In this era of Society 5.0, humanity is faced with a new era marked by rapid technological advancements. With the rise of social media platforms, communication between people is no longer hindered by physical distance, making it easier and more accessible than ever before. However, recent findings suggest that the prevalence of social media today is no longer primarily about education, information, or motivation, but rather about content that goes viral, specifically “online gossip.” This study aims to discuss online gossip from the perspective of the Qur'an, analyzing its impacts and potential solutions. The method used is qualitative, employing the Tafsir Maudhu'i approach with descriptive-analytical data analysis. The results and discussion reveal that the Qur’an’s perspective on online gossip stems from feelings of insecurity and a lack of gratitude for what Allah has bestowed upon humanity. The consequences of gossip are not only spiritual and otherworldly, such as the threat of punishment in the afterlife, but also cause social harm in this world. Therefore, the highly recommended solution is to engage in regular self-reflection or introspection. By recognizing that every human being is created with their own uniqueness, strengths, and weaknesses, it is hoped that individuals can refrain from the tendency to discuss others' faults. This research contributes to reducing the phenomenon of online gossip in the midst of the rapid development of the Society 5.0 era.

Abstract

One of the factors contributing to the prevalence of juvenile delinquency is a lack of moral awareness in children. This occurs due to low parental supervision of children and the influence of their surroundings. This leads to the prevalence of promiscuity and a lack of control from the social environment of adolescents. The role of parents, especially fathers, is very influential in the development of children. A father's attitude greatly influences the character of the children he raises. In line with the message in the Qur'an, fathers greatly influence the character of their children, as in the stories of Prophet Ibrahim and Prophet Ismail, which are the focus of this study. This study aims to determine how the roles of fathers and mothers can influence the development of children's character, particularly the message contained in QS. As-Saffat verses 102-105. This study employs a qualitative approach with a literature review focused on Tafsir al-Azhar and Tafsir Ibnu Katsir. Since the primary objects of this study are the Qur’anic verses and the interpretations of these two scholars, the study uses the comparative exegesis method. The results indicate that Prophet Ibrahim, as the father of Prophet Ismail, played a significant role in shaping his son’s character. In relation to modern-day parents, it is important to emulate the story of Prophet Ibrahim and Prophet Ismail in child-rearing. The story recorded in QS. As-Saffat verses 102–105 teaches the importance of gentle communication, setting an example in faith, and shaping a child’s character through attitude, not just advice. In the face of modern challenges, this approach is relevant for building strong relationships and instilling moral and spiritual values in children. In raising his son, he instilled the fundamental principles of strong faith and obedience to Allah's commands. Additionally, patience and sincerity are key elements in navigating life.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the moral values represented in the film Ipar Adalah Maut through the normative framework of the Hadith of the Prophet Muhammad, particularly those related to the concept of al-hamw (brother-in-law), the prohibition of approaching adultery, and the control of lustful desires. The film represents a contemporary popular cultural text that portrays moral tensions within family life as well as the boundaries of Islamic ethics. The narrative, which centers on a forbidden relationship between a husband and his sister-in-law, presents fundamental issues related to family ethics, moral responsibility, and violations of religious norms. Using a qualitative-descriptive method with a library research approach, the analysis is conducted by examining the content of key scenes, dialogues, and characters in the film, which are then systematically interpreted based on relevant hadith texts. The results of the study show that the film represents a serious deviation from Islamic family ethics, reflected in the violation of marital trust, the weakening of social boundaries with a sister-in-law, and the normalization of emotional closeness that ultimately leads to moral degradation. These findings affirm the relevance of the hadith al-hamw al-mawt as a preventive ethical warning regarding the dangers of uncontrolled relations with a sister-in-law. This research contributes to strengthening hadith as a normative ethical framework in the analysis of popular films, thereby bridging doctrinal hadith studies with contemporary cultural realities, while also emphasizing the potential of film as a reflective and educational medium in reinforcing Islamic family ethics amid the dynamics of modern society.

Abstract

This study explores the intellectual legacy of Aleksey Stepanovich Khomyakov (1804–1860), a foundational thinker in 19th-century Russian Orthodox theology whose concept of sobornost'—communal unity in freedom and love—critiqued Western rationalism and individualism. The background highlights the historical tensions between Eastern Orthodox communal spirituality and Western individualistic traditions amid Russia's modernization. The objective is to analyze how Khomyakov's lay theology, rooted in Orthodox bogoslovie, reinterprets patristic sources to address modern fragmentation and proposes Russia as a messianic Third Rome. Employing hermeneutic and comparative textual analysis of Khomyakov’s primary works (e.g., “The Church is One”) alongside their reception in 20th–21st century scholarship (Lossky, Berdyaev, Florovsky, Zenkovsky), the study demonstrates that his synthesis of vita contemplativa and activa democratized religious discourse. The findings reveal sobornost' as a blueprint for societal wholeness through love-driven unity, offering insights for contemporary interdisciplinary religious studies. In conclusion, Khomyakov’s thought provides a valuable corrective to modern social alienation and fragmentation. This study contributes to enriching the study of communal theology by presenting a conceptual reinterpretation of sobornost as an alternative paradigm to modern individualism through an examination of Khomyakov's thought in interpreting the contemporary crisis of social solidarity. Furthermore, this study offers a new conceptual framework for global religious studies in understanding the relationship between spirituality, community, and collective identity in the modern era.
