Abstract

This study mainly discuss about the effectiveness of the SPRE/R approach method towards the creative writing ability of the students. The goal of this study is to determine whether or not the application of SPRE/R approach method to the improvement of creative writing ability of the students. The method which used in this research is quasi experiment. The sample of the research is 66 students in semester 4 who take Creative Writing Course.  The study sample consisted of 33 Regular 4A class students (experimental group) learning to write using the SPRE/R approach method and 33 other students in the Regular 4B class (control group) learning using conventional methods. Data collection techniques with creative writing tests, while data analysis techniques are statistical techniques with t-test. The data show that the average of study result of experimental group for the initial test is 43,84 and the final test is 73,21 so that the average of student learning result has increased by 29,37. The average value of the control group for the initial test was 45.33 and the final test was 60.03 so that the average student learning outcomes increased by 14.7. From the difference in value is calculated by t test at a significant level of 95% and (df = n2 + n1-2). From the results of the calculation obtained t-count of 5.644 while t-table 1.998, thus, it can be concluded that there are significant differences.In addition, the results of this study produce output products in the form of a collection of short stories.

Abstract

Minangkabau is identical with  matrilineal system.  Women are at the respected position in society.  However, many Minangkabau women become the victims of violence. These Minangkabau women are verbally violated. These verbal violences are categorized as an action called speech act.   This writing then tries to describe the speech acts of the perpetrators of the violence toward Minangkabau women. The aim of the research is to identify the types of speech act of the perpetrators of violence toward Minangkabau women from psychopragmatic perspective. The research was conducted in Padang city. The data were are collected by having interview, focus group discussion, and observation toward around 10  women, 2 community leaders, and 20 society members. The analysis was done by relating it to the concept of speech act  by Austin (1962), Revita (2014), and  Searle (1969). The result of analysis is descriptively presented. The data indicated that there are four types of speech acts used by the perpetrators of the violence toward Minangkabau women. They are 1) declaration; 2) expressive; 3) comissive; and 4) directive

Abstract

Anger is one of the basic emotion created by every human being. Anger gets into the realm of pragmatic study because this emotion is a verbal act and is a type of illocutionary speech act, especially expressive speech acts. Angry speech is used more by women than by men. This is due to genetic factors in which women are more sensitive and more able to express their anger through speech. This study aims to describe the forms of speech acts used by women in angry conditions. While the subjects in this study are speeches which are indicated as angry speeches on 7 Hati 7 Cinta 7 Wanita films. The research method used is padan method with data collection using simak method and followed by catat technique. The results are as follows (a) direct literal speech act, (b) direct nonliteral speech act, (c) indirect literal speech act, (d) indirect nonliteral speech act.

Abstract

The problem in this study is how the strategies carried out by ethnic Chinese in maintaining Indonesian in their community. In the daily life of the ethnic Chinese they joke with their communities, they still use Indonesian. The Indonesian language used is of course Indonesian which has been mixed with code. The purpose of this paper is to find out the factors that influence the retention of Indonesian in the Chinese community. Data was collected by direct observation, and interviews with informants who were ethnic Chinese. The speakers in this paper are ethnic Chinese from various circles, both parents, teenagers and children. Respondents were selected based on criteria as native or ethnic Chinese who reside in Padang, West Sumatra. The results of the study indicate that one of the strategies in maintaining Indonesian language for the Chinese ethnics in the community is found in several forms of Indonesian language defense in the form of code mixing. The form of code mix that is found is the fragments of words, and Chinese phrases in Indonesian sentences. Fragment categories of words and phrases found are verbs, objects, properties, information and numerals. This is one of their strategies in maintaining Indonesian.

Abstract

This study aims to look at the problems represented by Mamak's character in the Novel Persiden By Wisran Hadi using Erikson's psycho-crisis theory. The mamak figure in this novel experienced problems between having to play the role of mamak and the fact that mamak did not have the same power as before. This research uses descriptive method with content analysis approach. The results of the study show that Novel Persiden By Wisran Hadi shows the figures of the mamak Malati. Thirdly, Mamak Malati, Pa Tandang, Pa Rarau and Pa Mikie are in an uncertainty between not wanting to be involved in the problem and having to be involved because of their roles and functions as mamak. This causes Minangkabau men to be in the dilemma of being individuals who are only involved with their families or mamak who must be role models for their nephews.

Abstract

The collection of gurindam in the Tarbiyatus Shibyan book written by KH Habibullah Ra’is has become a very popular learning media, especially on the island of Madura because it is a subject and textbook in educational institutions such as the madrasah diniyah and Islamic boarding schools. The value of education in the gurindam group can be a medium for forging the character of students into good characters. This research is classified as a type of literary research or library research that is qualitative in nature. The method used in this study is a qualitative method. The value of religious education in our collection of gurindam Tarbiyatus Shibyan by KH. Habibullah Ra’is is characterized by attitudes and concrete actions from the attitude of mankind to Allah by always carrying out what is commanded and away from its prohibitions, humans must fear Allah, always remember Allah, and expect the pleasure of Allah. The value of moral education contained in the Gurindam of the Tarbiyatus Shibyan book by KH. Habibullah Ra’is deals with communication between family members and in society.

Abstract

Sebagai salah satu sastra lisan di Minangkabau yang masih terus dipertunjukkan, salawat dulang telah mengalami banyak sekali perubahan. Aspek humor dan hiburan lebih ditonjolkan. Meskipun begitu, salawat dulang pada dasarnya mengandung nilai-nilai luhur kebudayan Minangkabau yang menjadikannya patut untuk terus diwariskan dan dipertahankan sebagai salah satu warisan budaya. Berdasarkan hal itu, tulisan ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan nilai-nilai luhur kebudayaan Minangkabau yang terkandung pada sastra lisan Minangkabau, salawat dulang. Untuk itu, metode yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa pengamatan terhadap pertunjukan, wawancara, studi terhadap teks yang dituturkan, dan studi kepustakaan. Sedangkan kerangka teori yang digunakan adalah antropologi sastra lisan. Berdasarkan data dan hasil analisis, salawat dulang memiliki nilai-nilai yang lebih dari sekedar hiburan. Nilai-nilai luhur kebudayaan Minangkabau yang ditemukan adalah berbuat jasa, bekerja keras, dan menjunjung tinggi nilai egaliter dan solidaritas.

Abstract

Advertisement is a medium used to support an activity or a business. Through advertisement, the activity can spread out to the public or people. The study of advertisement can be associated to the field of pragmatics because  it contains several speech acts used by the producer or the content creator to the target of the advertisements itself, which one of them is commissive speech act. In relation to its purpose that is to introduce or to promote a product, either things or services, the commissive speech act is an effective way to use to attract the public’s attention. This research is aimed at identifying and explaining the functions and the strategies of the commissive speech acts. The source of data is the commercial advertisements of household appliances and health products on MNC Shop in December 2018. The data are collected by using observational method with recording and writing technique and analyzed by using pragmatic identity method. The result of the research shows that the commissive speech acts in the commercial advertisements of MNC Shop comprise promising, giving a guarantee, making a bet, and convincing. Meanwhile, the strategies used are direct utterance, literal direct utterance, and literal indirect utterance.

Abstract

This study aims to describe ideological formation and ideological negotiations in the drama text "Ronda" by Atut Adi Baskoro. With the focus of the problem raised in this study is the study of drama text by describing ideological formation and ideological negotiations in order to find the use of dominant group ideology and its impact on subaltern groups so that dominant ideologies and negotiated ideologies can be known. The ideological concept in this study uses a literary sociology approach initiated by Antonio Gramsci. The method used is descriptive quality. Data analysis techniques use content analysis techniques. The results of the study indicate the existence of ideological formation in the text, namely from the dominant group adhering to the ideology of fascism and anarchism which dominates the subaltern group of adherents of ideological mysticism. In the text also found the new common sense of the dominant and subaltern groups after ideological negotiations between the dominant and subaltern groups. The new common sense is in the form of a humanist ideology that prioritizes human values and position and makes it a criterion in all things.

Abstract

ABSTRACTEvaluation in writing is one of the efforts in improving competence in writing, in addition to planning teaching programs based on the writing process. However, evaluation in writing is not intended to improve students' understanding in writing, even writing is seen as a straightforward product, not produced through a repetitive process. Therefore, this study aims to produce a product in the form of an explanatory text writing evaluation tool based on a process approach. By using the ADDIE development model, it was designed an evaluation tool according to the writing process carried out by students in addition to paying attention to the task environment and long-term memory of students. The writing process is used as a reference in developing evaluation tools, ranging from planning, translation (developing ideas and ideas), and reviewing (evaluation and revision). Planning becomes the initial stage for students to gather ideas and generate memory by writing a writing framework in the form of a mind map. Translation is an effort to develop the writing framework into explanatory text by taking into account the linguistic structure and rules of the text. Review in the form of evaluating or evaluating the written text, then revising according to the writing criteria. The writing process that is done in stages is complemented by hard think-aloud procedures so students can asking the question to themselves to monitor writing activities. Keywords: evaluation tools, explanatory text, a process approach  ABSTRAKEvaluasi dalam menulis menjadi salah satu upaya dalam meningkatkan kompetensi dalam menulis, selain merencanakan program pengajaran yang berbasis proses dalam menulis. Akan tetapi, evaluasi dalam menulis dilakukan tidak bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman peserta didik dalam menulis, bahkan tulisan dipandang sebagai produk yang langsung jadi, bukan dihasilkan melalui proses yang berulang. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan produk berupa alat evaluasi menulis teks eksplanasi berbasis pendekatan proses. Dengan menggunakan model pengembangan ADDIE, dirancang alat evaluasi  sesuai proses menulis yang dilakukan peserta didik di samping memperhatikan lingkungan tugas dan memori jangka panjang peserta didik. Proses menulis yang dijadikan acuan dalam mengembangkan alat evaluasi, mulai dari perencanaan, penerjemahan (mengembangkan ide dan gagasan), dan peninjauan kembali (evaluasi dan revisi). Perencanaan menjadi tahapan awal bagi peserta didik untuk mengumpulkan gagasan dan membangkitkan memori dengan cara menulis kerangka tulisan dalam bentuk peta pikiran. Penerjemahan menjadi upaya untuk mengembangkan kerangka tulisan menjadi teks eksplanasi dengan memperhatikan struktur dan kaidah kebahasaan teks. Peninjauan kembali dalam bentuk menilai atau mengevaluasi teks yang ditulis, lalu dlakukan revisi sesuai kriteria penulisan. Proses menulis yang dilakukan secara bertahap ini dilengkapi dengan prosedur berpikir keras (think aloud) sehingga peserta didik dapat bertanya kepada dirinya sendiri untuk memantau aktivitas menulis yang dilakukan. Kata Kunci: Alat evaluasi, teks eksplanasi, pendekatan proses
