Abstract

Infeksi Malassezia furfur pada kulit bisa karena faktor buruk . Salah satu bahan yang dapat digunakan sebagai anti jamur adalah ekstrak rimpang Lengkuas (Alpinia galanga L.). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antijamur dan efektivitas gel ekstrak rimpang lengkuas pada jamur patogen menggunakan metode maserasi dengan etanol 96 %. Pembuatan gel digunakan HPMC dan basis Carbopol. Pengujian aktivitas ekstrak dan menguji efektivitas gel dengan metode difusi cakram (uji Kirby - Bauer ). Hasil skrining menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak mengandung triterpenoid, flavonoid dan minyak esensial . Berdasarkan hasil uji terhadap jamur Malassezia furfur aktivitas antijamur dari ekstrak dalam gel meningkat dibandingkan ekstrak tanpa dirumuskan menjadi gel . Namun peningkatan aktivitas tidak signifikan berdasarkan analisis statistik dengan satu - way ANOVA diperoleh signifikansi sebesar 0,234 (p>0,05).

Abstract

Bunga kembang sepatu (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis L.) secara tradisional digunakan sebagai peluruh dahak. Berdasarkan atas Bioassay Guided Fractionation, fraksi aktif berhasil dipisahkan dan alkaloid merupakan kandungan utama fraksi. Oleh karena itu alkaloid digunakan sebagai senyawa penanda (marker) ekstrak etanol Hibiscus rosa-sinensis L. Nilai viskositas digunakan sebagai model untuk aktivitas peluruh dahak, dengan asetil sistein sebagai kontrol positif. Selanjutnya penetapan kadar alkaloid dalam ekstrak etanol dilakukan secara KLT-Densitometri (n=5), kadar alkaloid dibandingkan dengan kurva baku dari alkaloid (marker) hasil isolasi (Y=12,1360X+2901,4474). Kadar alkaloid dalam ekstrak etanol kembang sepatu (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis L.) sebagai 2,35 ± 0,67 %.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh variasi konsentrasi ekstrak daun kepel (Stelechocarpus burahol (BL) Hook f. & Th.) terhadap aktivitas antioksidan serta sifat fisik sediaan krim. Ekstrak daun kepel diperoleh dengan metode infundasi. Ujia ktivitas antioksidan dilakukan menggunakan metode penangkapan radikal DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl). Krim ekstrak daun kepel dibuat dalam 3 formula dengan variasi konsentrasi ekstrak (2,5; 5,0; 7,5%b/b) dengan basis a/m. Krim yang diperoleh diuji sifat fisiknya meliputi organoleptis, homogenitas, dayasebar, dayalekat, viskositas, rasio volume pemisahan, dan ujia ktivitas antioksidan. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan metode statistic menggunakan uji ANOVA satu jalan dilanjutkan dengan uji Tukey dengan taraf kepercayaan 95%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perbedaan konsentrasi ekstrak daun kepel sebagai bahan aktif menyebabkan perbedaan warna, bau, dan viskositas krim. Perbedaan konsentrasi ekstrak daun kepel sebagai bahan aktif tidak berpengaruh terhadap  homogenitas, daya lekat, dan rasio pemisahan krim. Perbedaan konsentrasi ekstrak daun kepel sebagai bahan aktif tidak menyebabkan perbedaan daya sebar krim kecuali antara formula II (5,0% b/b) dan formula III (7,5% b/b). Peningkatan konsentrasi ekstrak daun kepel sebagai bahan aktif menyebabkan perbedaan aktivitas antioksidan krim kecuali antara formula II (5,0%) dan formula III (7,5%).

Abstract

Jahe (Zingiber officinale Rosc.) memiliki khasiat sebagai anti emetik. Rimpang jahe biasanya dikonsumsi sebagai  minuman penyegar instan seduhan sehingga perlu dibuat menjadi sediaan yang lebih efektif, efisien dan menarik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memformulasikan rimpang jahe menjadi sediaan tablet effervescent dengan menggunakan variasi kadar asam sitrat dan asam tartrat. Ekstrak kering jahe dibuat dengan metode ekstraksi menggunakan etanol 70% dan diuapkan dengan spray dryer. Ekstrak dibuat menjadi 5 formula dengan variasi jenis dan jumlah sumber asam menggunakan metode peleburan. Granul yang diperoleh diuji sifat fisiknya meliputi uji waktu alir, indeks tap, sudut diam, daya serap air, kompaktibilitas, densitas massa, kadar air dan kadar fenolik total. Granul tersebut ditablet dan diuji sifat fisik tablet meliputi keseragaman bobot, kerapuhan, kekerasan, waktu larut, uji tanggap rasa, dan kadar fenolik total. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan Anova One Way dengan taraf kepercayaan 95%. Hasil uji sifat fisik granul dan tablet effervescent ekstrak rimpang jahe menunjukkan bahwa formula III (50% asam sitrat) merupakan formula terbaik karena memenuhi persyaratan fisik granul dan tablet. Sedangkan formula V (100% asam tartrat) merupakan formula yang memberikan kestabilan kadar fenolik yang paling besar.

Abstract

Bawang tiwai (Eleutherine americana) have antibacterial effect to Sthapylococus epidermis. This study was conducted to formulate an ethanolic extract of bawang tiwai into antiacne cream preparations, thus Dayak community empirically considered use this as an antiacne and boils. Formula (F) was made by varying the concentration of the ethanolic extract namely: F1 (1%), F2 (2%) and F3 (4%). Anti acne cream formulation tested with phytochemical screening, organoleptic (smell, color, homogenity), type of cream, cream dispersive test, and antibacterial activity test against Staphylococcus epidermidis. Phytochemical screening result shows that its contains alkaloids, flavonoids and saponins, organoleptic test showed stability in F3, antiacne cream has a pH value = 6. Dispersive cream generated meets the requirements with a range of 5-7 cm. Cream type is type O / W (oil in water). Test result by using  agar diffusion method with Mueller Hinton Agar (MHA) medium,  inhibition zone obtained in the negative control (0), F1 (0), F2 (5.17 ± 0,19mm) and F3 (6 ± 0,17mm), LSD oneway ANOVA showed 95% (p <0.05) compared F3 all treatments. This study antiacne cream of F3 (concentration of the ethanolic extract of bawang tiwai 4%) is the best formula with the greatest potential in the medium category against Staphylococcus epidermidis.

Abstract

Granules of lemongrass and kaffir lime oil are reported to have larvicidal activity against the mosquito Aedes aegypti, with LC50 of 38.30ppm and 39.58ppm, while LC90 of 51.57ppm and 79.43ppm respectively. During the manufacture of granules, loss of oil are reported by 64.20% to 65.91% for lemongrass and kaffir lime oil. This research aims to make granules combination from lemongrass and kaffir lime oils by varying the temperature of the drying granules and testing its larvicidal activity against Ae. aegypti. Oil combination is selected by using analysis simplex lattice design, and the combination chosen is made of granules, in drying room temperature for 24h, a temperature of 50°C for 2h 30min and a temperature of 70°C for 1h. Larvicidal activity testing against larvae of Ae. aegypti is done by using the third instar larvae 20 for each granule solution made in 5 series of concentration, and left exposed for 24h. The number of deaths of larvae is calculated and analyzed by modified probit analysis Finney to determine LC50 and LC90. The results showed the combination lemongrass-kaffir lime oil is selected ratio of 9:1, and drying the granules with a temperature of 70°C for 1h produces the greatest larvicidal activity with 63.17ppm LC50 and LC90 of 85.04ppm.

Abstract

We have investigated the antiradical activity of ethanolic extract of mengkudu leaves (Morinda citrifolia L.) and brotowali stem (Tinospora crispa L.) using radical scavenging assay or DPPH radical. Thin layer chromatograms were also studied to estimate the group of compounds that have antiradical activity.  The objective of this research was to compare the DPPH antiradical efficiency values of water fraction and acid hydrolyzed water fraction in both extracts. The radical scavenging IC50 value of ethanolic extract, water fraction, and hydrolised water fraction (one and thee hours) of mengkudu leaves were 75,65 µg/mL ; 98,68 µg/mL ; 36,27 µg/mL and 33,36 µg/mL  respectively. The IC50 value for brotowali stem were 33.75 µg/mL, 52.29 μg/mL, 31.12 μg/mL and 18.26 μg/mL.  The highest antiradical activity was the hydrolyzed water fraction three hour namely 200 µg/mL of this fraction was able to inhibit 33.12%  and 18.26 μg/mL DPPH radicals.

Abstract

Pegagan (Centella asiatica (L.) Urban) has been known as multi effect plant that empirically used in the traditional medicine. This research aims to evaluate the effect of 50%ethanolic extract of pegagan herb against increased lymphocyte proliferation cells in Balb/c mice that induced with hepatitis B vaccine, and also to evaluate triterpen glicosida compound (asiaticosida) of 50% ethanolic extract of pegagan herb. The test was done by 60 Balb/c male mices that divided into 6 groups : control group, testing group that was treated with pegagan extract dose of 25 mg/KgBB, 50 mg/KgBB, 100 mg/KgBB, 200 mg/KgBB and 400 mg/KgBB. All of mices were vaccinated on day 0 and days 15. Furthermore, identification of triterpen glicosida compound was done by KLT method using BAW 4:1:5 as upper eluen. Lymphocyte cells were isolated and the cells proliferation measured by MTT reduction method. Data was analyzed statistically using 95% confidence level. The result shown that 50% of ethanolic extract of pegagan herb did not give  the immuomodulatory effect while the identification test shown that 50% of extract of pegagan herb has triterpen glicosida compound (asiaticoside).

Abstract

Sambung Nyawa leaves (Gynura procumbens (Lour.) Merr has been widely used as herbal medicine which requires a quality improvement of the dry extract for industrial production. Extraction solvent optimization is one key factor which determines the quality. This research aims was to find out the optimal ethanol-water composition as extraction solvent by using Simplex Lattice Design (SLD) method of which the total phenolics, total flavonoids and DPPH radical scavenging activity were used as quality parameters. Dried leaves as raw materials were pulverized and screened at Mesh 60, macerated (1:5) with ethanol-water compositition as 1:0; 0.7:0.3; and 0.5:0.5 v/v, shaked for 24 h, filtered. The procedure was repeated twice. Filtrates were collected of which lactose were added (1:2)w/w and spray dried at 100C for 30 min. Dried extracts yielded were evaluated the quality by using SLD method of which the total phenolics, total flavonoids as well as DPPH radical scavenging activity were used as parameters. Optimal SLD response was revealed at the ethanol:water composition of 0.66:0.34 – 0.75:0.25 v/v (Rtotal>0.9). No significant difference of the above mentioned parameters between the values resulted from the experiment and SLD formula. Correlation analyses of total phenolics and total flavonoids towards DPPH-radical scavenging activity were found as 95.29% and 1.25%, respectively.

Abstract

Many studies have found that Impatiens balsamina leaves contain antibacterial activity. The present study was conducted to evaluate antiacne effect from cream of methanolic extract from leaves of Impatiens balsamina L. towards Propionibacterium acnes and Staphylococcus epidermidis, which concentration that gives the most effective antiacne and to evaluate physical and chemical properties of creams. The simplicia was extracted by soxhlet technique and using methanol as solvent. Kirby-Baeur diffusion method was used to measure the antibacterial activity. The extract was formulated in cream with concentration of 10%, 15% and 20%. Evaluation of physical and chemical properties was done by organoleptic testing, spreadability, adhesive force, pH and antibacterial effectiveness. Data was analyzed using R-Commander program 2.14.1 Version. Formula II which contained 15% extract showed the most effective inhibiton to the growth of bacteria. The evaluation of FII cream showed that the cream was homogen, the spreadability was 21,24 + 1,464cm2, adhesive force more than 60 minutes, and pH of 6,53 + 0,057.
