Abstract

The increasing of development and economic growth projections in the big cities such as Krakatau Industrial Area in Cilegon city, that would cause transportation problems such as traffic jam. The presence of transportation problem is need for appropriate handling, this handling does not put forward the problem solving instantly without regard to sustainability. Therefore, the policy development of urban transport infrastructure system in Indonesia using conventional approaches that are predict and provide should be abandoned and replaced with new approach that are predict and Prevent with the concept of Transportation Demand Management (TDM). The method used to choose the TDM strategy in Krakatau Industrial Area Cilegon city is the ranking method. Data was obtained by filling the questionnaire on 8 respondents who understand and can take transportation policy in Krakatau Industrial Area Cilegon city. Data processing by the help of Microsoft Excel program with the results Telework is the first rank as an appropriate strategy to be applied, and the program appropriate with the characteristics of Krakatau Industrial Area Cilegon city. Based on the results of the simulation analysis by using the methods of literature study on the implementation of telework, probability about 6.12% -23.66% of workers potentially do telework.

Abstract

Rockfall cases are a natural and dynamic geologic process, commonly occur within mountainous areas near by the cliffs undercut by human for developing building or highway. This paper aims are to; (i) identify parameters of slope surface, and (ii)  simulates rockfall process. Case study of slope was taken in the quarry at the Kloch, Austria. This paper revealed 7 (seven) slope surface parameters for this slope, including; dynamic and static friction angles were 350, normal and tangential damping were 0.2 and 0.95,  rolling resistance 0.2 to 0.3, amplitude of roughness 0, and frequency of roughness 1. These results were than treated as an input data in simulating the rockfall. Based on the simulation, it was identified that within the 15 m of the Kloch height, the rocfall would yield the average of kinetic energy of 240 kJ, and 0.5 m of bounce height. Hence, in order to reduce rockfall risk to road way close to the cliff toe area, it is recommended to extend road shoulder at 5-10 meters from the slope or construct an appropriate rockfall barrier that is in capable to restrain energy kinetic of 250 kJ and the height of barrier minimum 1 m.

Abstract

Cultivating seaweed grow strong along the coast of Bantaeng Regency, mainly in Tappanjeng, Palantikang Letta, Lembang and Lamala Thus production centers are growing with working group of fishermen community. Activities are growing stronger in the arterial roadside along the coast and also in set back line. The impact is the risk of traffic accidents, caused by the activities such as: rope seed  and product carriage have to cross the arterial road. The purpose of this discussion is to analyse transport network and modes to seaweed activity. Datas obtained from interviews with seaweed Farmers/Fishermen who live along arterial roads. Also from Farmers/Fishermen who were drying seaweed production. The result showed arterial network capacity is still adequate in Bantaeng. Traffic volume is relatively low together with traffic accidents, although the accessibility of fishing is very strong on arterial road. In the future needs to arrange and develop river transport for seaweed farmer’s residential also to accommodate seaweed seed binding and drying activity in some watersheds, namely Kaili, Biyangloe, and others.

Abstract

The most common daily trip for university students is the commuting to campus. Though there are clear environmental, economic, and social drawback from using private vehicles for these trips, students still choose private vehicles to get to campus. This study discusses the correspondence between students' car use habit with a variety of demographic, economic, and trip characteristics. This research is expected to provide benefits in the design of campus transportation policies to reduce trips to the campus by car. Results of the analysis indicate that there are associations between the habit of using a car to campus with students gender and city of residence. In addition, there is a significant relation between the students' car use habit with campus, years of study, the distance from residence, residence status, car ownership, frequency of trips to the campus per day, car accessibility, and car usage behavior in the previous semester.

Abstract

There is increasing interest in understanding travel behaviour to predict the effect of a policy into the shape of transportation system. However, less attention has been given to the psychological aspect of the system that leads to travel behaviour changing. This paper overview a comprehensive research that combined psychological related research area into transportation especially travel behaviour. Specifically, this paper overview several studies on the psychological aspect of travel time with respect to the positive utility of travel time in data collection and analysis. There are three aspects of the effects discussed in this paper such as perception of time, attitudes, and value of time. The integration of the psychological research methods into transportation offers a deep understanding of travel behaviour at individual as well as aggregate level.

Abstract

Traffic jam is one of the main problems nowadays in transportation network, especially in the intersection, because of the conflict of movements between vehicles which came from each of its arms. An intersection is the junction in transportation network where two or more roads either meeting or crossing. In this analysis, author used a traffic simulation with Vissim software to predict the queues. The results have been compared to actual result at the site. Primary data were collected by conducting a survey using traffic counting method on Wednesday afternoon peak hour. The results of both analysis and survey are, average queue length of Vissim is 62 m and average queue length of observation is 60 m. It is concluded that there is no significant different between the simulation and the actual results. However, there is a significant different in deviation of the results.

Abstract

One of important factor to avoid accident fatalities of passanger vessel evacuation is the evacuation route design of safety. A number of critical locations can slow down the evacuation process such as doors, stairs and corridors essential for analysis. This paper discusses a number of critical locations, potential to evacuation failure, especially on ships crossing inter-islands. The method used to identify the critical location or locations where the concentration of passengers during the evacuation process is the Simultaneous Movement Method. The simulation results show that the total time required evacuation of passengers, especially on economy class of KMP Jatra II, since leaving the passenger compartment until all passengers are on the vehicle deck emergency exit is 870 seconds or 14.50 minutes, smaller than required by IMO ( 60 menit). Potential of passenger density or the critical path, starting at the 1st door where in the path traversed by all economy class passengers before entering the 1st and 2nd corridors. Maximum number of passengers that accumulates at these sites is 72 people on 300 seconds. Subsequently passenger’s concentration occurs at the meeting movement toward the passenger emergency exit vehicle deck that is derived from the 3rd and 4th corridors, at the location of a concentration of passengers up to 76 people on 490 second. This study suggests that the potential of location or critical point of the passenger evacuation path occurs at a meeting between two or more evacuation routes, especially in locations such as the transition to the doors, stairs or passenger traffic bottlenecks due to the larger capacity. The results of this analysis can also be used as a basis for determining an alternative evacuation route or routes change if the conditions are experienced during vessel operation.
