Abstract

The use of digital learning tools has become increasingly influential in language education, particularly in facilitating vocabulary acquisition. However, in contexts such as Papua, Indonesia is characterized by limited resources and significant cultural diversity, the integration of these tools presents distinct challenges and opportunities. This study investigated the role of digital tools in enhancing vocabulary acquisition among English Education students in Papua, examined the challenges encountered by educators and learners, and proposes strategies for adapting these tools to better reflect the region's unique cultural and linguistic landscape. Adopting a qualitative research approach, the study gathered data through semi-structured interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis involving participants from both teachers and students of Papua. Thematic analysis was employed to extract key themes and patterns from the data. The findings indicated that digital tools, such as Kahoot, Quizziz, Quizlet and Duolingo, support vocabulary development by offering gamified, interactive, and self-directed learning opportunities. Nonetheless, their impact is constrained by infrastructural deficiencies, disparities in access to technology, and limited digital literacy among educators and students. Furthermore, the absence of culturally relevant content diminished engagement and reduced the tools’ effectiveness within the local context. The study concluded that while digital tools hold significant potential to enhance English Education, their successful implementation necessitates addressing infrastructural challenges, enhancing educator training, and developing culturally adapted resources. The research contributes to a deeper understanding of the complexities of digital learning in multilingual and under-resourced environments, offering actionable recommendations for improving language education in Papua.

Abstract

Transformasi teknologi di dunia pendidikan salah satu upaya dalam mewujudkan Visi Indonesia Emas 2045 yang terlihat dari strategi-strategi pembangunan pendidikan dan ilmu pengetahuan serta teknologi (iptek). Kemendikbudristek sejak 2019 telah menjalankan berbagai kebijakan dan program dalam mewujudkan pendidikan berkualitas berbasis teknologi, salah satunya adalah program Pelatihan Mandiri pada Platform Merdeka Mengajar (PMM) yang berorientasi pada pemberdayaan dan peningkatan kompetensi terpadu bagi guru. Namun, manfaat dan peluang yang diberikan tidak seluruhnya dapat dirasakan para guru honorer, terutama bagi guru honorer di daerah-daerah terpencil dan miskin. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui realitas guru honorer di daerah berpenduduk miskin dalam menyesuaikan diri dengan era transformasi digital dan untuk mengetahui skema kebijakan pemberdayaan guru honorer dalam meningkatkan akses CASN di daerah miskin di era transformasi digital. Metode yang digunakan adalah yuridis-empiris dengan data sekunder berupa peraturan perundang-undangan, artikel ilmiah, dan sumber internet, serta data sekunder berupa hasil wawancara. Digitalisasi pendidikan bagi guru honorer di daerah berpenduduk miskin menghadapi tantangan keterbatasan akses internet, biaya tambahan, infrastruktur yang buruk, dan manfaat sertifikasi pelatihan digital lebih dirasakan oleh guru ASN sehingga menciptakan kesenjangan karier. Skema kebijakan yang dirancang yakni perlunya revitalisasi kebijakan Kurikulum Merdeka untuk guru honorer di daerah miskin dengan penyediaan akses yang lebih inklusif terhadap modul Pelatihan Mandiri, penyesuaian kewajiban guru honorer, serta prioritas bantuan kuota internet.

Abstract

The Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka program, initiated by the Ministry of Education and Culture, promotes student independence in pursuing higher education. The implementation of this program in various universities includes adjustments to a more flexible curriculum. This research aims to examine the impact of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka program on improving the quality of student knowledge at the Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar. This study used a quantitative approach with a survey method, involving students of the Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar as respondents. The results of the questionnaires collected from 44 respondents showed a significant increase in students' knowledge and abilities. The majority of respondents (100%) agreed that this program contributed to the development of their skills and competencies, as well as training skills relevant to the world of work and career preparation in the future. Overall, this study concludes that participation in the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka program effectively improves the quality of student knowledge, both in their scientific disciplines and in other fields. This program also plays an important role in training practical skills and developing student competencies, preparing them to succeed in the world of work. Abstract

This research is motivated by the problem of learning outcomes that occur in UPT SD Inpres Borong, especially for third-grade students. The problems that occur are influenced by several factors, both from student factors, learning motivation, or inadequate learning environment. Therefore, researchers provide an alternative solution to the problem, namely by using the Contextual Teaching and Learning approach in the learning process so that learning becomes more enjoyable and effective. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of the Contextual Teaching and Learning approach on the mathematics learning outcomes of third-grade students of UPT SD Inpres Borong. The research approach used is a quantitative approach with a Pre-experimental research type. The research design is One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The subjects used in this study were 31 third-grade students. The research instruments used were learning outcome tests and observation sheets. The data analysis techniques used were descriptive data analysis and inferential data analysis. The results of the inferential statistical analysis using the t-test, it is known that the t-count value = 12.47 while the t-table value = 1.697 at a significance level of α = 0.05. Based on these values, it is obtained that t-count > t-table, this means that H0 is rejected and then H1 is accepted. The results of the analysis of student observation sheets in the class accumulated from the first to the third meeting obtained a score of 431.2 with a percentage of 72% which indicates student involvement in the good category. Based on these results, it can be concluded that there is a significant influence by using the Contextual Teaching and Learning approach on the mathematics learning outcomes of class III students of UPT SD Inpres Borong.

Abstract

This study aims to examine and analyze the influence of gamification elements such as point, badge, and leaderboard on students' learning motivation in English language learning using the Quizizz platform. A mixed methods approach with a descriptive design was employed. Quantitative data were collected through questionnaires completed by 55 students from SMAN 22 Makassar, while qualitative data were obtained through in-depth interviews with selected respondents. The results indicate that the point feature provides instant feedback that triggers students' intrinsic motivation to study more diligently. Badges offer symbolic recognition of students’ achievements, fostering a sense of being valued. Meanwhile, the leaderboard proves to be the most powerful in boosting motivation, as it creates healthy competition that encourages students to challenge themselves and improve their rankings. Therefore, integrating gamification elements such as those found in Quizizz can be an effective strategy for enhancing students’ learning motivation, especially in the context of English language learning at the senior high school level. Abstract

The role of parents in children's education is the main foundation in the formation of children's character and intelligence. This study aims to examine in depth the role of fathers and mothers in educating children in the modern era through a qualitative approach with a library research method. Data were collected from various academic sources and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman approach, namely data condensation, data presentation, verification, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the role of fathers is not limited to breadwinners, but as role models who educate through example, emotional involvement, supervision, and fulfillment of children's psychological needs. The absence of the father's role is proven to have a negative impact on children's social and academic development. On the other hand, mothers play an integral role in the aspects of nurture, love and care - including intellectual stimulation, provision of affection, and physical and moral nurturing. The modern era presents new challenges such as the lack of family interaction time due to work pressures and the influence of digital media that reduces parental involvement. Therefore, the synergy of the roles of fathers and mothers is key in shaping a conducive educational environment at home. This study emphasizes the importance of a balanced division of time and roles between fathers and mothers so that children's education remains optimal amid social and technological changes.   References Abdul, Moh. Abstract

In the era of globalization and digitalization, use English in marketing is increasingly becoming a common strategy, even among local business actors. This study aims to analyze the effect of the use of English in menu naming on consumer interest in the Yotta culinary brand in Makassar City. This study uses a literature study approach by analyzing various scientific journals from the last 10 years that are relevant to the topics of marketing, consumer behavior, and the use of foreign languages in branding strategies. The results of the study indicate that English not only functions as a means of communication, but also as a symbol of modernity, exclusivity, and visual appeal that can increase consumers' positive perceptions of a product. On the other hand, the use of foreign languages also has challenges, especially if it does not consider the diverse backgrounds of local consumers. Therefore, a bilingual strategy or additional explanation is considered a more inclusive approach. This study provides important implications for MSMEs and local brands in designing effective, adaptive, and relevant communication strategies for market segments. These findings also encourage further research on aspects of linguistic integration in marketing communications, especially in the context of local culture in Indonesia. Abstract

This study aims to examine the technique of hadith transmission as the foundational basis for sanad-based learning in Islamic education. Hadith, as the second principal source of Islamic teachings after the Qur'an, requires a high degree of authenticity and validity in its transmission process. Utilizing a descriptive qualitative approach through library research, this study analyzes various transmission methods such as sima’, qira’ah, ijazah, munawalah, and others, along with the moral and intellectual requirements that must be met by narrators. The findings reveal that the techniques of hadith transmission not only function as a means of scholarly verification but also form an educational system emphasizing authoritative knowledge continuity, ethical values, and the spiritual bond between teacher and student. The sanad-based learning model plays a vital role in safeguarding the integrity of knowledge transmission, particularly amid the challenges of the digital era saturated with unverified information. Thus, integrating the principles of hadith transmission into today’s Islamic educational systems is highly relevant as a revitalization of classical Islamic educational traditions.
