Abstract

Soybean is one of the third most essential crops after rice and maize, whose production still needs to be increased. One of the efforts to utilize less fertile land is using organic fertilizers in goat manure and Bio-Growth. This study aimed to obtain the best dose of goat manure and Bio-Growth for soybean growth and yield. This research has been carried out at the experimental garden of the Kubang Research and Assessment of Agricultural Technology (BPTP) Balitbangtan Riau from August to November 2021. The method is practical with a factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) consisting of 2 factorials with 3 replications. The first factor is goat manure (K0: 0 tons/ha, K1: 10 tons/ha, and K2: 20 tons/ha); the second factor is Bio-Growth (B0: 0 ml/4 l water, B1: 72.5 ml/4 l water, B2: 145 ml/4 l water, and B3: 217.5 ml/4 l water). The height of the plant, the number of its leaves, the diameter of its stem, the number of its branches, the number of pods produced by each plant, the weight of pods produced by each plant, the total weight of pods, and the weight of one hundred seeds were all measured. The application of goat manure and Bio-Growth influenced the height of the plant, the number of leaves, the number of pods produced by each plant, the weight of each pod, the total weight of the pods, and the weight of one hundred seeds. It was determined that the interaction between the two treatments did not impact all experimental parameters. This study concludes that the best application of goat manure is 10 tons/ha, while the most efficient Bio-Growth dose of 72.5 ml/4 l of water can increase the growth and yield of organic soybeans.

Abstract

The seed viability test is one of the routine tests carried out in the seed certification process. Decreasing the viability of seeds can be done biochemically and physiologically. This research aimed to study of seeds deterioration through physiological and biochemical tests. This study used two lots of long bean seeds (high and low lot). Physiologically, the seed viability test was carried out by means of germination test and biochemical by means of respiration test using tetrazolium (TTZ) staining technique and titration method. The experiment designed by completely randomized design one factor. Data were analyzed by anova test and Pearson correlation. The results of research showed that the seed lot treatment was significantly on the tetrazolium test and the total dry weight of sprouts, while the vigor index, seed germination, and respiration index measurements did not show significant. There was a high positive correlation in the high respiration rate of high seed lots and low seed lot seeds on total dry weight of germination, germination, vigor index, and tetrazolium test. Therefore, biochemical tests with TTZ and respiration with titration methods can be used as alternatives to predict rapid deterioration of seeds.

Abstract

Endomycorrhizae is known as a potential biological fertilizer for dry land because of its ability to provide nutrients for plants in sub-optimal conditions. Several studies have suggested that mycorrhizae can increase nutrient uptake, especially phosphorus, potassium, and can also increase the tolerance of plants growing in nutrient and water crisis soil conditions. This research was conducted to examine the influence of endomycorrhizae on different water availability conditions in vertisol soils cultivated by paprika. In this study, statistically it has not proven the efficacy of endomycorrhizae in increasing available P nutrients, P uptake and yields of paprika on vertisol soils with different levels of water availability. The treatment of 60% water availability was not enough to make paprika plants gripped so that the presence of endomycorrhizae did not have an effect on the results of several observed variables. However, at 80% groundwater availability, the field capacity increased the available P, the number of flower buds and the number of paprika flowers formed. Based on this research experience, it is recommended that before endomycorrhizal application, it is necessary to sterilize the soil to be used as a medium first. In addition, the use of endomycorrhizae as a treatment, it is better to isolate pure spores that have been identified to the genus or even certain species, not in the form of soil propagules.

Abstract

The main problem faced in the utilization of Red Yellow Podsolic soil (RYP) is the low nutrient content and poor physical and chemical properties of the soil. Problems with the chemical properties of RYP soil include acidic soil pH, low organic C content, low available P, low CEC and low interchangeable bases (K, Ca, Mg, Na). This study aims to improve some of the chemical properties of PMK soil with the application of compost as an ameliorant and its effect on the growth and yield of caisim (Brassica juncea L.) as an indicator plant. The study used a single factor Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 5 treatments consisting of no compost (K0), compost 5 tons/ha (K5), compost 10 tons/ha (K10), compost 15 tons/ha (K15) and compost 20 tons/ha (K20). The results showed that the application of compost at a dose of 20 tons/ha (K20) was able to increase the pH, C-Organic, CEC, available of P and exch-Ca, exch-Mg, exch-K and exch-Na of RYP soil and increase the production of caisim.
