Psikohumaniora: Jurnal Penelitian Psikologi (en: Psikohumaniora: Journal of Psychological Research) is a research-based psychological journal published by the Faculty of Psychology and Health, Universitas Islam Negeri Walisongo Semarang, Indonesia. Psikohumaniora is dedicated to developing studies of clinical and positive psychology by diffusing research backed by solid empirical evidence. It is hoped that it will provide a reference and guidance to enhance people's psychological potential and improve their mental health, as well as offering adaptive strategies for preventing and reducing the risks of psychological problems. In the long run, the journal is expected to have a positive impact on individuals and the community.

Abstract

Hope plays an important role in individuals’ attempts to overcome various problems in a positive way and with positive results. This study aims to examine the effect of parent-child attachment on the existence of hope. The research method involved a quantitative approach. The accidental sampling technique was used to determine the sample and identified 400 adolescents consisting of junior and senior high school students aged 12-19 in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Parent-child attachment was measured using the Parental Bonding Instrument, while expectation was measured using Snyder's Hope Scale. The data were analyzed using linear regression to predict the relationship between parent and child attachment and expectations. The results show that warm and loving care from the father (B = 0.37, p < .001] and the mother (B = 0.47, p < .001], as well as the provision of autonomy by the father (B = 0.52, p < .001] and mother (B = 0.38, p <.01] proved to be predictors of adolescent expectations, while over-protection from the father (B = 0.03, p> .05]) and the mother (B = -0.18, p> .05) were not predictors of the existence of hope. The implications of the research results could serve as a reference for the parenting practice and guidance to adolescents both in the contexts of family and school education.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aimed to look at the profile picture of hardiness in mothers of children with autism in the city of Medan. A total of 58 mothers were included in this study. Sampling was done by purposive sampling. The method was used to descriptive quantita­tive method. Data were taken using a measuring instrument such as Hardiness scale (Dispositional Resilience Scale/DRS-15). Processing and analysis of statistical data was descriptive, meaning that findings such as demographic data, aspects of hardiness and other additional data will be analyzed in the form of a minimum score, maximum score, mean and standard deviation, in order to illustrate the hardiness profile comprehensively. The results showed that the picture of the strength of the mothers of children with autism in average level. Judging from the hardiness, found that aspects of the commitments had the highest mean score, followed by the control aspect and the aspect of the challenge.Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat gambaran profil ketangguhan pada ibu yang memiliki anak autis di kota Medan. Sebanyak 58 ibu-ibu dilibatkan dalam penelitian ini. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan purposive sampling. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode kuantitatif deskriptif. Data diambil dengan menggunakan alat ukur berupa skala Ketangguhan (Dispositional Resilience Scale/DRS-15). Cara pengolahan dan analisa data statistik bersifat deskriptif, artinya temuan seperti data demografi, aspek ketangguhan dan data tambahan lainnya akan dianalisa berupa skor minimum, skor maksimum, mean dan standar deviasi, agar dapat menggambarkan profil ketangguhan secara komprehensif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa gambaran ketangguhan pada ibu yang memiliki anak autis berada dalam kategori sedang. Ditinjau dari aspek ketangguhan yang dikemukakan oleh Maddi Kobasha (1980), ditemukan bahwa aspek komitmen memiliki nilai mean tertinggi, kemudian diikuti dengan aspek kontrol dan aspek tantangan. Implikasi penelitian ini sebagai data awal untuk melihat gambaran profil ketangguhan ibu dalam mengasuh anak autis di kota Medan.Kata kunci: anak autis; ibu; ketangguhan

Abstract

Prolonged conflict in Aceh has caused trauma in people who were directly affected. Aside from post-traumatic disorder, a traumatic event can bring out post-traumatic growth (PTG) too. PTG is a positive transformation that is resulted from an adap­tation process of traumatic events in life. This study aimed to examine the relation­ship between coping and PTG. There were 55 respondents involved in this study, who were obtained by using purposive sampling technique. The sample criteria were those experiencing by themselves certain events during the conflict, men and women over 20 years old, able to read and write, and willing to be respondents for the study. Data were collected using a demographic questionnaire, Post-traumatic Growth Inventory (α = .88) and Ways of Coping Questionnaire (α= .89). The data were analyzed with the Pearson Product Moment Correlation. The analysis results showed a significant correlation between post-traumatic growth and coping (r = .523; p .01). In addition, coping ways that correlated with post-traumatic growth were seeking for social support (r = .545),  distancing (r = .315), self-control and accepting (r=.274), while confronting and escape did not have a correlation with post-traumatic growth

Abstract

The transition period from school to the world of work is a critical time that affects determining one's career. This study aims to examine the role of grit and parent-child communication in students’ career adaptability. Using a purposive sampling technique, the study involved 218 High School (SMA) students and 124 Vocational High School (SMK) students in Salatiga, Indonesia. The measurement instruments used in the research were the career adaptability scale, grit scale, and parent-child communication scale. The results show that the R-value was .595 and the adjusted R squared (R2) value was .354. The significance value generated from the regression test was .000 (p<.01). Based on the calculation results, it can be concluded that grit and communication between parents and children together play a significant role in career adaptability. The research implication is that students’ grit and effective parent-child communication should be developed to improve career adaptability.

Abstract

Abstract: Merger of academies to be one university is a way to perform effectivity and efficiency of the foundation as the organizer of education. The process of conveying the idea will face challenges and conflicts such as opposition to the idea of merging universities. Conflict can be a functional and dysfunctional role in the organization, depending on how the organization is able to manage the conflict and use appropriate conflict management strategies. The research was conducted at one of the private universities in Bandung that has combined four academies to form the University. This research uses a qualitative approach case study. The results of this study indicate that the foundation has an important role during the merging process, the foundation selects direct leaders (Rector of the University) from external parties to facilitate the process of forming a new culture, then the Foundation manages the conflict using a compromise strategy and collaboration to all academic communities so that conflicts arise functional role and improve post-merge University performance.Abstrak: Penggabungan sekolah tinggi menjadi universitas adalah salah satu cara untuk me­lakukan efektifitas dan efisiensi yayasan sebagai penyelenggara pendidikan. Proses menyampaikan ide akan menghadapi tantangan dan konflik seperti oposisi terhadap gagasan menggabungkan universitas. Konflik dapat berperan fungsional dan disfungsional dalam organisasi, tergantung pada bagaimana organisasi mampu mengelola konflik dan menggunakan strategi manajemen konflik yang tepat. Penelitian ini dilakukan di salah satu universitas swasta di Bandung yang telah menggabungkan empat sekolah tinggi untuk membentuk universitas. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif case study. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa yayasan memiliki peran penting selama proses penggabungan, yayasan memilih langsung pemimpin (Rektor Universitas) dari pihak eksternal untuk memfasilitasi proses pembentukan budaya baru, kemudian Yayasan me­ngelola konflik menggunakan strategi kompromi dan kolaborasi untuk semua komunitas akademis sehingga konflik muncul peran fungsional dan meningkatkan kinerja universitas pasca-penggabungan.

Abstract

Jackson’s Hybrid Model of Learning in Personality (HMLP) is designed to measure the effect of biological, socio-cognitive, and experiential processes of personality and learning mechanisms on developing rationality and directing functional or dysfunctional behaviors of employees. We use HMLP to determine if rational thinking predicts individual perception of safety climate. The results found that the proposed indirect paths of learning mechanisms significantly predict the individual perception of a safety climate through rationality. The goodness-of-fit demonstrated that the model provided a satisfactory fit: c2 = 13.200, p = .067; RMS = .000; RMSEA = .063; GFI = .981; AGFI = .943; and CFI = .988. As a result, we identify the importance of rationality in predicting individual safety climate and once again confirm the usefulness of HMLP in predicting useful workplace outcomes. The HMLP offers valuable insights into the influence of rationality in predicting individual perception of safety climate, as well as the underlying process of developing rationality.

Abstract

Abstract: This research examined the effect of psychological capital and the totality of work on the subjective well-being of employees. This study involved 169 employees of PT X, a state-owned mining company in Jakarta. Sampling conducted using non-probability sampling with accidental sampling technique. The instruments used consisted Flourishing Scale and Scale for Positive and Negative Scales (SPANE) modified by Diener et al. (2009), Psychological Capital Questionnaire 12 (PCQ-12) from Luthans et al. (2007), Utrecht work engagement Scale (UWES-9) from Balducci, Fraccaroli, and Schaufeli (2010). Data analysis technique was multiple regression analysis. Based on the results of major hypothesis testing, the first conclusion obtained from this study is that there is a significant influence of psychological capital and work engagement on the subjective well-being of employees of PT X. Then, the results showed that four variables regression coefficient value was significant, that is; (1) self-efficacy; (2) spirit; (3) dedication; and (4) absorption while three other variables are not significant. All of these variables have a positive effect on employee’s subjective well-being.Abstrak: Penelitian ini dimaksudkan untuk menguji pengaruh modal psikologis dan totalitas kerja terhadap kesejahteraan subjektif karyawan. Penelitian ini melibatkan 169 karyawan PT X, BUMN dalam bidang pertambangan di Jakarta. Pengambilan sampel yang dilakukan menggunakan non probability sampling dengan teknik accidental sampling. Alat ukur yang digunakan terdiri atas Flourishing Scale (FS) dan Scale of Positive and Negative Scale (SPANE) yang dimodifikasi dari Diener et al. (2009), Psychological Capital Questionnaire 12 (PCQ-12) dari Luthans et al. (2007), Utrecht work engagement Scale (UWES-9) dari Balducci, Fraccaroli, and Schaufeli (2010). Teknik analisis data adalah analisis regresi berganda.Hasil uji hipotesis menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan modal psikologis dan totalitas kerja terhadap kesejahteraan subjektif karyawanPT X. Kemudian, hasil uji hipotesis menunjukkan bahwa terdapat empat dimensi yang nilai koefisien regresinya signifikan, yaitu: (1) self-efficacy; (2) semangat; (3) dedikasi; (4) keterlarutan, sementara 3 variabel lain tidak signifikan.

Abstract

Happiness is a concept that is difficult to understand to this date. Differences in individual perspectives in interpreting happiness also affect the processing construct of the measurement. This study aims to conduct convergent validation of the existing happiness scale. Convergent validation can test how good the happiness scale is by comparing the externally to another scale that is considered to have a relationship. The happiness convergent-scale validation adapted the Multi-trait Multi-method (MTMM) analysis. Respondents involved in this study were 186 students from traditional Muslim schools or Santri who were selected according to the specified characteristics and studied at UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung. The three measuring instruments used are the Oxford Happiness Questionnaire (OHQ), the Indigenous Happiness Scale (IHS), and the World Health Organization Quality of Life-Bref (WHOQOL-Bref). The correlation coefficient (r) shows values of 0.52 (OHQ-IHS), 0.53 (OHQ-WHOQOL-Bref), and 0.45 (IHS-WHOQOL-Bref). The result indicated that the correlation of the three scales tested has a statistically high relationship so that the three measuring instruments used have convergent validity and can be used to measure the construct of happiness.

Abstract

COVID-19 affects human life, but very few studies have examined the quality of life of children and adolescents during the pandemic. This article aims to report on the quality of life of children and adolescents (N = 1,474; ages 10-18 years) during the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia. Data were collected using Google Forms and convenience sampling. The measuring instrument used measured five domains of quality of life, namely material, physical, social, emotional, and productive well-being. The data were analyzed using crosstab, frequency, comparison of mean values, and ANOVA. The results show that children and adolescents have been able to maintain their subjective well-being and adapt to unpleasant situations during the lockdown. Younger boys and girls show significantly higher mean scores than older ones. Children and adolescents reported that they were bored because they had limited physical activities, were dissatisfied with school closures and with what they had learnt at home, and were frustrated by the limited contact they had with friends. The research has implications in providing advice to parents, teachers, children, and adolescents to improve the quality of life of children and adolescents during the pandemic.

Abstract

Abstract: The mastery of Arabic language is fundamental for students of Islamic Higher Education. But, generally student’s score on Arabic test did not support this expectation. Some students reported that they felt inconvenient and insecure on Arabic lesson also with the lecturer. Even though, positive relationship between lecturer and students was important for creating and also keeping student’s motivation in studying Arabic. This study aimed to analyze of rapport building between lecturer and students in classroom context. There were three questions, what kinds of strategy lecturers were applied to build and maintain rapport with students, which factors determine the building of rapport between lecturer and students, and how to describe the mechanism of rapport building between lecturer and student? Using qualitative approach, this study collected data from students and lecturers by questionnaire, observation, and interview. There were nine strategies used by lecturers to build rapport with students. The study found six factors determine the quality of lecturer and students’ rapport.Abstrak: Penguasaan Bahasa Arab penting bagi calon sarjana dari Perguruan Tinggi Keagamaan Islam. Tetapi, skor tes mereka tidak mendukung harapan ini. Sebagian mahasiswa melaporkan mereka kurang percaya diri, nyaman, dan aman saat mengikuti kuliah Bahasa Arab maupun dalam interaksi dengan dosen pengampu. Padahal perasaan aman dan nyaman tersebut bermanfaat untuk memelihara dan meningkatkan motivasi belajar mahasiswa. Riset ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pembentukan rapport antara dosen dengan mahasiswa dalam konteks pembelajaran di kelas. Pertanyaan penelitian meliputi, apa sajakah strategi dosen yang diterapkan untuk membentuk rapport, faktor-faktor apa saja yang memengaruhi pembentukan rapport, dan bagaimana mekanisme ter­bentuknya rapport antara dosen dengan mahasiswa? Studi ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif, di mana data dikumpulkan melalui teknik kuesioner, observasi, dan interviu. Ada sembilan strategi pembentukan rapport yang ditemukan. Terdapat enam faktor yang memengaruhi pembentukan rapport dosen-mahasiswa.
