Abstract

This study aims to examine the application of the concept of deep learning based on mindful, meaningful, and joyful learning in learning Topeng Getak Dance at the Junior High School (SMP) level by utilizing the TikTok application as an interactive learning medium. Facing the challenge of attracting the interest of the younger generation to traditional arts, this approach offers a conscious, meaningful, and enjoyable learning experience. Through the use of TikTok as a creative medium, students are invited to actively explore dance movements in the form of videos, reflect on the meaning in each type of movement, and enjoy the learning process interactively. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with observations, interviews, and documentation of junior high school students. The results of the study indicate that the application of the mindful-meaningful-joyful learning strategy based on TikTok can increase student engagement, understanding of cultural values, and strengthen the preservation of Topeng Getak Dance among the younger generation. These findings emphasize the importance of technology-based innovation in developing art learning models that are relevant to the digital era.

Abstract

Ethnic, cultural, and religious diversity is a distinctive characteristic of Indonesia that can serve as both a strength and a challenge in maintaining social cohesion, particularly in schools where stereotypes, subtle discrimination, and prejudice often disrupt student interactions. This study aims to describe students’ experiences in understanding, internalizing, and practicing multicultural values through history education, as well as to assess the role of schools as transformative spaces for shaping inclusive identities. The research employed a qualitative approach with the Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) method, focusing on students’ subjective interpretations of their learning experiences. The participants consisted of 20 students from grade XI and XII at SMAS Tunas Markatin Jakarta as the main subjects, supported by three history teachers, the principal, and teaching documents such as syllabi, lesson plans, and textbooks. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis, and validated through triangulation, member checking, and audit trails. The findings indicate that students perceive multiculturalism not merely as the recognition of differences but as an active attitude of tolerance, empathy, and collaboration in daily life. History teachers play a pivotal role by employing multivocal strategies that incorporate contributions from diverse groups into the historical narrative, enabling students to feel their identities are acknowledged within the nation’s history. Nevertheless, challenges remain in the form of stereotypes and subtle discrimination, particularly related to dialects and cultural practices, which require continuous pedagogical interventions and inclusive school policies. This study highlights that history education plays a strategic role in fostering students’ critical awareness, social solidarity, and inclusive identity in a multicultural society.

Abstract

The role of historical sites in history learning has great potential to improve students' understanding through contextual direct learning experiences. However, in reality, history learning in schools is still dominated by conventional methods that are centered on teachers and textbooks, so that students' understanding of historical materials tends to be rote and less meaningful. This study aims to determine the role of historical sites through the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) approach in improving students' understanding of history learning at MAS (Swasta Madrasah Aliyah) Nurussa'adah, South Jakarta. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. The learning project focused on visits to the National Museum and the Fatahillah Museum in Jakarta, which were adjusted to the history material for grade X. The results showed that students became more enthusiastic and active in the learning process, were able to understand the relationship between historical events and their legacies, and showed an increase in critical and collaborative thinking skills. In addition, the PjBL method based on historical sites strengthens students' understanding of national values and the importance of preserving cultural heritage. These findings indicate that the integration of historical sites into learning through PjBL has a positive impact on students' understanding of history. Therefore, this approach can be used as an innovative alternative in improving the quality of history learning at the madrasah level.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the importance of learning Indonesian Sign Language for deaf students at SLB Negeri Selong, East Lombok, as well as to analyze the factors influencing the implementation of inclusive education based on Indonesian Sign Language. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method, involving students, parents, and teachers as the research subjects. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and questionnaires. The results indicate that learning Indonesian Sign Language is crucial in enhancing the communication skills of deaf students, both at school and at home. Most students feel that Indonesian Sign Language facilitates their communication, boosts their self-confidence, and supports active participation in social and academic life. However, there are still challenges in teaching Indonesian Sign Language, particularly related to limited support at home due to parents' lack of understanding of the language. Additionally, while learning at school has been relatively effective, students feel they still need more time and resources to fully master Indonesian Sign Language. This study highlights the importance of parental involvement and support from the community, as well as the need for further training for teachers and parents to support the development of Indonesian Sign Language for deaf students.

Abstract

Entrepreneurship education for deaf learners remains limited due to the scarcity of instructional materials that match their visual learning needs and inclusive pedagogical requirements. Existing resources in Indonesian Special Schools (SLBs) are often generic, text-heavy, and insufficient for supporting hands-on vocational learning. This study aims to address this gap by developing and validating an ecoprint-based instructional guide designed to strengthen entrepreneurial competencies among deaf students. Using a modified Borg and Gall Research and Development model, four stages were implemented: needs analysis, instructional design, prototype development, and expert validation. The resulting guide integrates ecoprint techniques with visually rich, sign-language-supported instructional strategies. Content validation by special education and entrepreneurship experts yielded scores above 90%, while media validation confirmed strong accessibility and visual clarity. Trial implementation indicated notable improvements in students’ engagement, independence, creativity, and understanding of entrepreneurial processes. The guide also enhanced teachers’ ability to deliver structured, culturally grounded, and sustainable entrepreneurship instruction. This study demonstrates that ecoprint is an effective medium for experiential, inclusive, and environmentally oriented entrepreneurial learning. Future research should explore the guide’s long-term impact, its adaptation for students with other disabilities, and its potential integration with digital and community-based entrepreneurship models.

Abstract

The growth of the global tourism sector is closely tied to the increasing prominence of culinary tourism, which serves as both an economic driver and a medium for cultural preservation. In recent years, culinary destinations have actively promoted themselves through modern restaurants inspired by traditional architecture and regional cuisines. This trend reflects a structured commercial approach to sustaining cultural values while enhancing destination appeal. This study explores marketing strategies centered on traditional cultural attractions, including architectural heritage and local gastronomy that embody regional identity. A qualitative content analysis method was employed by examining promotional content and customer reviews published on Google Business Profiles. The units of analysis were selected purposively from culinary destinations known for their popularity and cultural representation. The findings reveal a new typology of digital marketing strategies rooted in local culture and storytelling. These strategies have proven effective in attracting tourists, increasing digital engagement, and strengthening destination competitiveness within the culinary tourism landscape. Furthermore, the study highlights the importance of collaboration among business owners, local communities, and digital platforms in fostering sustainable tourism growth. The research contributes to the development of culturally grounded tourism marketing models that can be adapted to various regional contexts across Indonesia. The study also provides practical insights for policymakers and tourism practitioners in designing integrated marketing strategies that align with sustainability principles.

Abstract

This research addresses the issue of cultural value transmission in the practice of Sufism through a linguistic approach to language and religious learning in the ancient manuscript Bainal Haq. The primary objective of this research is to identify the linguistic mechanisms involved in conveying Sufi teachings and preserving local Islamic and cultural values. This research employs a qualitative approach with text analysis, which involves several stages: (1) data collection from the ancient manuscript Bainal Haq, (2) determining the focus of analysis, which includes syntactic aspects (sentence structure and relationships between words) and semantic aspects (word meanings and their relation to Sufi teachings and culture), (3) data analysis, (4) interpretation of data based on Hans-Georg Gadamer’s hermeneutic theory, and (5) discussion related to relevant literature. The findings reveal that the language structure in the manuscript reflects spiritual depth and serves as an effective medium for transmitting cultural and religious values. In conclusion, the ancient manuscript Bainal Haq plays a significant role in the inheritance of local Islamic spirituality, particularly in the practice of Sufism within the Sasak local tradition.

Abstract

This research examines firearms culture in Java during the colonial period by examining various shooting associations that were established during that period. Since 1867, various founding and activities of such associations were documented in colonial newspapers and magazines. In conjunction with that, this study aims to reconstruct the development of shooting societies in Java from their earliest mention in the newspaper in 1867 until the Japanese conquest of the Dutch East Indies. The research method used in this study is the historical method, which consists of heuristics, criticism, interpretation, and historiography. Primary sources, which include newspapers, magazines, and the Staatsblad, as well as secondary sources, such as journal articles and books relevant to this topic, were obtained through searches on the Delpher website and Google Books. Through the historical reconstruction process, this study found that the emergence of shooting societies in Java during the second half of the 19th century was inseparable from the positive perception of the Dutch towards firearms that preceded them. This positive view on firearms urged Dutch gun owners in Java to form shooting associations whose membership also extends to the natives. These associations provided their members with shooting education and entertainment through regular shooting competitions. Furthermore, these shooting associations were prone to experiencing an organisational crisis when the colonial economy experienced setbacks. The shooting associations in Java indicates that firearms had a significance in the social life of the Dutch East Indies society. Lastly, this research hopes to enrich the Indonesian historiography on topic that has yet to received widespread attention.

Abstract

The ngidang-ngobeng tradition is an intangible cultural heritage of the people of Palembang that reflects the values of mutual cooperation, social equality, and community solidarity through the practice of serving food and eating processions together. This tradition functions as a social space that strengthens relationships between citizens, forms a collective identity, and fosters a sense of togetherness across generations. However, in the midst of modernization and globalization, the participation of the younger generation in this tradition has decreased significantly. This study uses a phenomenological approach to explore the lived experience of the  younger generation towards ngidang-ngobeng , as well as identify factors that support or hinder its preservation. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and documentation of three indigenous youth informants from Palembang using purposive sampling techniques. The results show that although symbolic understanding of tradition is still strong as a symbol of respect, togetherness, and family values, changes in lifestyle, perception, efficiency, and the influence of digital technology cause the involvement of the younger generation to tend to decrease. This tradition is considered impractical and irrelevant to the rhythm of modern life. Nevertheless, ngidang-ngobeng still has great potential as a medium of citizenship education based on local culture, which instills values such as participation, solidarity, tolerance, and social responsibility. This study confirms the importance of adaptive, participatory, and contextual conservation strategies, involving young people as key actors. With a creative and value-based approach, these traditions can continue to live on as dynamic, relevant, and meaningful cultural practices in the lives of contemporary societies.
