Abstract

Tiren chickens are basically carcasses, namely chickens that die not because of slaughter, but chickens that have previously died due to poor endurance during the trip or affected by the disease then deliberately slaughtered for sale on the market. This study aims to detect the possibility of yesterday's sale of dead chicken meat (tiren) sold in four traditional markets in Denpasar City. The method used in this study is the purposive sampling method, which was a total of 72 samples of chicken meat were taken from four traditional markets in Denpasar City, each with three samples per market with six replications. The variables tested in this study were detection of tiren chicken with Malachite green test and pH test for chicken meat. The results showed that 19.44% (14/72) samples showed positive Malachite green test and average chicken meat pH 5.93 (5.32 - 6.45). Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that 19.44% chicken meat sold in four traditional markets in Denpasar City, it is suspected that tiren chicken is suggested to consumers to be more selective in choosing chicken meat for consumption

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui golongan senyawa kimia ekstrak etanol buah pare (M. charantia) sebagai penurun kadar glukosa darah tikus putih jantan (R. novergicus) yang diinduksi aloksan. Sampel penelitian ini adalah 25 ekor tikus putih jantan (R. novergicus) berumur 3 bulan dengan berat rata-rata 150-300 g. Rancangan yang digunakan berupa Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan lima perlakuan sebagai berikut, perlakuan I sebagai kontrol yaitu tikus normal tanpa perlakuan, Perlakuan II kontrol diabetes, perlakuan III tikus diabetes dan ekstrak buah pare 100 mg/kg bb, perlakuan IV tikus diabetes dan ekstrak buah pare 50 mg/kg bb, dan perlakuan V tikus diabetes dan glibenklamid 1 mg/kg bb. Hasil penelitan menunjukan buah pare mengandung zat flavonoid, polifenol, dan saponin. Pemberian ekstrak etanol buah pare (M. charantia) dapat menurunkan kadar glukosa darah tikus putih (R. novergicus) penderita diabetes dengan diinduksi aloksan secara signifikan P<0,05 yang sebanding dengan pemberian glibenklamid. Dengan demikian, ekstrak etanol buah pare dapat digunakan sebagai penurun kadar glukosa darah.

Abstract

The study aim was to determine the resistance of Escherichia coli to antibiotics that isolated in laying hens. A total of 100 samples of chicken feces were taken from Tabanan, Bangli and Karangasem districts. E. coli were isolated and identified by Carter (1990) method, followed by a bacterial susceptibility test with agar diffusion method from Kirby Bauer against antibiotics namely oxytetracycline (30 µg), ampicillin (10 µg), streptomycin (10 µg), sulfamethoxazole (30 µg), chloramphenicol (30 µg), and kanamycin (30 µg). The obtained data compared to the next sensitivity standard of the bacteria that classified as sensitive, intermediate, and resistant. The results showed that E. coli from chicken feces are sensitive to kanamycin, whereas the other antibiotics are intermediate or resistant. The increase in resistance is in line to the age of the chicken.

Abstract

The aims of this study was to describe the histologycal structure and histomorphometry of granulocyte in bali cattle post mineral administration. A total of 24 blood samples of bali cattle consist of three treatment groups were used in this study. Blood sampling was done through the jugular vein. The blood slides were made using slide method performed in the field then followed by fixation and staining Hematoxilin Eosin. Granulocyte measurements performed a microscope using a 100x magnification, and then analyzed by analysis of variant. The structire histological analyzed by qualitative descriptive analysis. The results showed that administration of minerals in the feed has no significant effect for histomorphometry of the neutrophils, eosinophils, and basophils cell. In addition, there was alsos no defference of histological structure of granulocyte in between group.

Abstract

There have been studies of the histological structure of male and female goat skins. The histological structure and histomorphometry were taken from two region of skin, which is the thorax and abdomen. The Samples were collected from 2-3 years old Etawah goat, and than was stained using a HarrisHematoxilin Eosin method. The data were analysis based on the region and sex. The results showed that the histological structure of Etawah cross breed consists of three layers were epidermis, dermis, and hipodermis respectively. The epidermis composed by stratum corneum, granulosum, spinosum, and basal. We were found keratin layer on the surface of epidermis. The dermis consists of papillare and reticulare stratum. That was found many sebaceous glands, sudorifera gland, pili muscle, hair follicles, blood vessels, and collagen fibers. The hypodermis layers of Etawah cross breed females skin mostly consists of the fatty tissue, whereas in males we have found thick and horizontally arranged connective tissue. The skin layer on male Etawah cross breed, thorax region thicker than the abdomen. The region and sex may have an effect on the histology structure and histomorphometry of Etawah cross breed skin.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian ekstrak pegagan terhadap total eritrosit, kadar hemoglobin, dan packed cell volume pada tikus putih jantan. Penelitian ini menggunakan 15 ekor tikus putih jantan dengan berat badan ± 300 gram dan umur 12 minggu. Tikus ini kemudian dibagi dalam 5 perlakuan yaitu kelompok OA, OB, OC, OD, dan KT.  Masing-masing kelompok terdiri dari 3 ekor tikus. Kelompok  OA: 100 mg/ekor (0,2 ml); OB: 200 mg/ekor (0,4 ml); OC: 300mg/ekor (0,6 ml); OD: 400mg/ekor (0,8 ml) dan KT sebagai kontrol diberikan aquades 0,2 ml. Pemberian ekstrak pegagan diberikan secara oral setiap hari selama 7 hari. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian ekstrak pegagan dari dosis 100 mg/ekor, 200 mg/ekor, 300 mg/ekor, dan 400 mg/ekor berpengaruh secara nyata terhadap gambaran peningkatan total eritrosit, PCV, tetapi tidak mempengaruhi kadar hemoglobin jika dibandingkan dengan control yaitu masih dalam batas normal.

Abstract

Chemical analysis of the ant-plant (Myrmecodia pendans) showed that plants have various chemical compounds of flavonoids, tannins, tocopherols, multimineral and polysaccharides. The aim of this study was to find out the effect of ethanolic extract of ant-plant on histopathological changes in male mice (Mus musculus) kidney. Twenty four clinically healthy mice at aged 10-12 with weight 25 to 35 g were obtained for this study. The sample were divided into four groups randomly, each treatment group consisted of six mice. Group P0 is the negative control group were given standard feed and drink, P1 is a group were given standard feed and ethanol extracts ant plant with a dose of 100 mg/kg body weight, P2 is a group were given standard feed and ethanol extracts ant plant with a dose of 200 mg/kg of body weight, P3 is a group were given standard feed and ethanol extracts ant plant with a dose of 300 mg/kg. After completion of the treatment on the day, the kidney was taken for histological preparations were made and stained with the hematoxylin-eosin method. The variables examined were haemorrhage, degeneration and necrosis in the renal proximal tubules. The Kruskal-Wallis test results showed that ethanol extract of ant-plant had a significant effect (P?0.05) on the incidence of hemorrhage in the renal tubules. Based on these results it can be concluded that the ethanol extract of ant-plant with a dose of 300 mg/kg body weight can cause kidney histopathological changes such as hemorrhage, degeneration, and necrosis.

Abstract

This study was intended to find out the effect of ethanol extract of Ashitaba leaves (Angelicakeiskei) toward the gastric histopathology of male mice. After being adapted for one week, 25 malemice (Mus musculus) were divided randomly to be five treatments. The first treatment was not given ethanol extract of Ashitaba leaves as control. The second till fourth treatment was given eachdose of 125; 250; 500; dan 1,000 mg/kg bb during 21 days orally. Necropsy for gastric organharvesting was conducted on the day of 22. The result of giving ethanol extract of Ashitaba leaves(Angelica keiskei) with a dose of 125 mg/kg bb showed that three mice undergo degeneration andinfiltration of inflammatory cells and one mice undergo necrosis. The dosing of 250 mg/kg bbshowed that three mice undergo degeneration and two mice undergo infiltration of inflammatorycells and necrosis as well. The dosing of 500 mg/kg bb showed that three mice undergodegeneration, infiltration of inflammatory cells, and necrosis. The dosing of 1,000 mg/kg bbshowed that three mice undergo degeneration and necrosis, and four mice undergo infiltration ofinflammatory cells. Based on the results of the study, It was concluded that the ethanol extract ofleaves Ashitaba dose of 125 mg / kg bw up to 1,000 mg / kg bw for 21 days did not cause structural disorders of the stomach organ histopathology of mice (Mus musculus) male.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of tender coconut water substitutionon egg yolk citrate diluent with different doses on local breeds dog sperm motility and livespermatozoa. Semen was manually collected. Progressive motility and percentage of livespermatozoa were evaluated under a microscope utilizing a drop of semen between awarmed glass slide and coverslip, both at a temperature of 38 0C. The percentage of motileand live spermatozoa were examined by counting 100 spermatozoa using the classificationof Christiansen (1984). Sperm viability was assessed by eosinnegrosin staining. The result showed that coconut water substitution has significant effect on the motility and livespermatozoa . Combination between the levels of coconut water in the egg yolk citratediluent could be applied as an alternative diligent instead of egg yolk diligent for dogsemen up to 75%.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the ethanol extract, partition n-hexane, and chromatography fractions Momordica charantia L. in lowering blood glucose levels in experimental diabetic male rats. This study used 25 male rats were divided into five treatment groups P0 (negative control), P1 (positive control), P2 (ethanol extract), P3 (partition n-hexane), and P4 (chromatographic fraction) the variable observed glucose levels blood for 21 days. Blood glucose levels were analyzed on days -1, 0, 4, 11, 18. The bill, which is used in the form of a completely randomized design (CRD). The data obtained and analyzed by using Split in Time. The results showed of giving chromatographic fractions bitter melon 50 mg / kg body weight can reduce blood glucose levels in hyperglycemic rats better than the ethanol extract 200 mg / kg body weight and partition n-hexane 50 mg / kg body weight.
